So I wasn't going to write a review. But have you ever been to a place and the experience was so bad you just had to review? Or the opposite where something was so exemplary that you had to review it too? Have you ever met someone that was so good at her job, you could tell she really enjoyed it, someone happy to be there and just made your day because of it? Well this was our server at TRH. Her name is Ashley (Venti) and she was amazing, so good at her job, so friendly, but not overbearing, happy to be there, helpful, kept all our drinks full, offered good opinions, told us fun stories about TRH. And even brought us peanuts. An absolute 5/5 for her service maybe even a 6/5 if that's possible. We ordered the bloomen onion for an appetizer. It was good but not as good as the original. 4/5 My son and I had the ribs and they were fall off the bone goodness with great flavor. Mine came with a side salad and seasoned rice. 5/5 My daughter had the sirloin and really enjoyed it, cooked perfectly at medium rare, really good flavor, and a loaded baked potato. 5/5 My wife had the herb encrusted chicken and enjoyed it. 4/5 Go to this location in Layton and ask for Ashley. I have eaten at different texas roadhouses numerous times. I would say once a month on average BUT the last time (today) was by far the worse customer service, food and experience I ever had. First, food... fries under cooked and very small portion, the ribs I received tasted okay but were 3/4 the size my wife received. You need to work on portion controls!!! The steak came to the table nearly moo'ing at me when I asked for medium rare. It took nearly 10 minutes to get it back. Once back, it was super "stringy"...if you eat steak enough you know what I mean. Customer service, A kid pukes right next to us....like right next us...on the floor. I get the attention of not one but four different employees about it. Some even walk through it...gross by the way. The last one finally gets help (thank you, she was awesome...she actual apologied to us and thanked us for attempting to get someone.) She has to stand over it for a couple of minutes because no one will help her....her the actual employee!!!! During all of this no apologies from management....nothing. Here's a couple of tidbits---- I don't eat red meat and I don't like visiting chain restaurants when I travel. My colleague is a big fan of Texas Roadhouse so I did it for him. But I have to say they are one of the best, if not THE best and well run chain restaurants around. We had great service and great food. There's plenty on the menu for everyone including vegetarians. We arrived and were seated within minutes. I never see a long wait time mainly because they're such a well oiled machine, they know how to get people in and out. Once we were seated, our server came quickly with bread. For peanuts, you need to ask and they will bring over a bag. They don't want people breaking peanuts and throwing on the floor anymore. My colleague ordered the ribeye steak while I ordered the ribs & chicken combo. Very good and quite filling. My colleague loved his steak. In Utah, they won't make drinks or even pour beer where it can be seen. We both had libations, but they all come from behind the wall. Checking out is easy as they have a tabletop device where you can order as well as pay. It's always on our list to visit when traveling to this area. read more

Texas Roadhouse is literally the best restaurant and let me tell you why. Also I go about 3-4x a month and go to the Layton or lehi location so I have some good credibility! The service is amazing! As soon as you sit down, you get your rolls and your drink within the first minute that you're there. Then, if you're like me, I know my order immediately and my side salad is always out to the table within the first five minutes that I'm there. This is a place where you can be in and out within 30 minutes if you want to be! Or you can sit and enjoy your food with no rush! Secondly, their food is amazing for how cheap it is. For a literal steak, 2 sides, and complimentary rolls it's like 15 bucks. For reference, my meal at McDonald's is 15 bucks for terrible food. Or I could go to another steakhouse and pay 100 bucks. Genuinely I have no idea why anyone would want to go eat somewhere else. The only thing that I can think of is the wait time on a weekend which clearly shows how many people love to eat there. But here's a hack, just go online and place yourself on the waitlist before you leave your house and then you're able to plan how much time you have till you need to leave! I'll be so honest I've only ever written one review in my life and it was about a bad experience that I had a Dutch Bros. I would never take the time to write this and post it if I didn't truly think that Texas roadhouse is the best place that you can eat. Had 1 of the worst experiences there recently. Sister came into town to visit and decided to take her there before she went back. Wait time to be seated was short and our waitress was very attentive nd cheerful, but the time between ordering our food and getting was well over 45 minutes. The restaurant wasn't busy so we wondered what was going on, when we got our food(5 entrees) every single plate we got was wrong or missing multiple items which took another 15 minutes to correct. The manager came over nd informed us that the ticket was correct but the kitchen had mixed it up and gave us a discount on our food which we were happy for. This restaurant is a great place to take family and friends, noting that options are meat heavy (at least the last time we were there). The good: our server, i missed her name but she was absolutely wonderful and sweet, super attentive to us my steak, cooked great and the sides were great too the rolls were awesome as always, fresh each time we got them now the bad my boyfriends drink was 75% ice, which makes sense for utah, but for a $8 at least do some more lemonade my boyfriends drink got a half slab of ribs and fries, they gave us 8 fries, over half being under the ribs making them soggy when we asked the manager if this was normal they seemed frustrated and almost spoke to us like we were idiots, for an almost $20 meal we expect more than 8 fries. The ribs themselves were dry and tough, no where near fall off the bone. I did ask for them to be comped as the last time there was an issue with our food we had been left waiting for over an hour with nobody letting us know what was going off our waitress was kind enough to ask them to be comped, but again the manager was basically angry we asked them to be comped. I get it, it's a saturday night and busy, but both times i've come to this specific location it's just been issues. will start going to the south ogden location again... I really hate to be the person to leave reviews, i know it affects the company and people who work there negatively. but i just am very disappointed right now. read more

I ordered 2 full rack rib dinners and a burger one of my rib dinners was very burnt. I got it to go so not sure if that made a difference but the meal I ate was very burnt. Also, every roll they gave us was over done. Each roll has a burn mark on the bottom, and for 3 people they gave one small cinnamon honey butter for 6 rolls! Seriously I can use one of those tiny butter cups for 1 roll. Unfortunately we were game already before I noticed the problems. Wondering if they give the burnt food to the to go orders. read more

We had two different experiences the last 2 trips to this location. The first time the portions were correct, and the staff was very attentive. Not sure if management changed but our service on 10/12 was very different. I ordered the 8 oz sirloin with shrimp and the steak wasn't even close to 6 oz. And there seemed to be a shortage of shrimp. Two others in our party ordered fried for their sides and there wasn't even on serving of fries between the two plates. Everything tasted great but it definitely seems like they have decided to start limiting portions in a big way while continuing to raise their prices. My friends loved their first experience here that they had to bring me on my last night there. The location they first went to was north but this location had online reservations. The location we went to is in the Layton Hills Mall in Layton. There's a parking lot with ample parking which won't ever be a problem. I got the 8oz sirloin steak (medium rare) with butter mashed potatoes and house salad. I also added the mushroom and onions sauté with the steak. The salad came out first, and I thought to wait for the rest of my food to come out before eating it, but the waiting went from 5 mins to about 20 mins before my entrée came out... But thankfully there was free flowing bread to ease our hunger as we continued to wait. Bread was soooo good. Soooo soft and the butter! It was a cinnamon butter, omg. I can just eat the bread, tbh. Finally, the food came! My steak was cooked to what I wanted, but a tad too rare which wasn't too bad. The mushroom and onion sauté definitely enhanced the flavor of the steak too. My friend got the grilled shrimp appetizer and her boyfriend got the 16oz Ft. Worth ribeye (medium rare). His steak came out, and it was super super rare. Almost like we could hear the cow moo'ing. We asked the server if we could get it cooked more, which was fine since cooking steaks are variable. The steak came back, and it was obvious that the workers just threw the same meat back on the grill. The steak looked a little better... until he got deeper into the steak where it was STILL super rare. We didn't want to bother asking to get the steak cooked again especially since our server could not be found. The reason for the 2 stars is because of the food quality of what we got and the lack of service we didn't get. Our server barely came by to check up on the table and also missed our requests multiple times to the point where we gave up on reminding him. It took us a LONG time to find our server to come back for our check too. I believe a manager came out to apologize about the really rare steak who was VERY friendly and very attentive unlike the server we had. The food here is good (if cooked correctly) and the bread is AMAZING. However, the quality of the food and service was a bit lacking. Texas Roadhouse isn't amazing food, but I've always found it friendly and fairly-priced. I like that they are trimming down the steaks on site. Their side salads are really well topped compared to most restaurants' side salads. And those baked yams: We love those too (but without the marshmallow). We were craving chicken-fried steak, and they don't do it pre-frozen here. The Before 6 Early Bird menu is often a great value so we stopped in. We found with the COVID restrictions for the amount of customers and a pre-holiday Saturday shopping traffic that they weren't hurting for customers. The Early Bird menu wasn't happening. Yet our waitress suggested the Beef Tips as a tasty value dish and holy moley did she not steer us wrong! They were cooked exactly as ordered (med rare), were (mostly) tender, generously portioned for price, and the mushroom-onion gravy REALLY hit the spot. This was almost as soul-food-nourishing as a bowl of Viennese Gulasch--just needed the paprika in the sauce! The crowd up front was pretty busy -- maybe a little too tricky a choice during COVID times -- but seating itself was as socially distanced as possible. She was Friendly and Attentive during our visit. We ordered House Salads with Blue Cheese dressing and crumbly Blue Cheese on top! I am giving a rating of 5 just for the fresh Blue Cheese Crumbles. I went in for a nice early Dinner. love their early bird specials. Since I am a single I was asked if I would sit at the Bar. I said no but I would like a booth in the bar area. Hostess looked at me and said she didn't have one available. The area was in view from the area I was in. At least 10 booths were empty. I said nothing. I was then walked to the far back of the restaurant and was sat there. Completely cut off from view from the entire restaurant. I was the only one there thru almost the entire whole meal. The last 5 mins another old couple was sat there also. Waiter was great. Let me state that I am an older man on oxygen and walk badly. I was angry but said nothing. As I walked out from dinner I noticed that almost all the same booths in the bar area were empty. Wile I'm not a Model I'm also not ugly and refuse to be hidden due to age. I will not be shamed for growing old. After speaking to the manager, she did not take me seriously and made it sound like I was upset because I did not get the table I wanted. No matter which location we choose, the experience is the same and the service and food is always consistently good which says a lot about how they run the business. What can you say about the Texas Roadhouse that has not already been said. I normally grab the FILET MEDALLIONS or STEAK KABOB. Simple and they always get serviced about the same no matter which restaurant you order them from. However, this location was very different.
