Texas Roadhouse always delivers well. Food tastes fresh. Steak was seasoned well. Drink came quickly when we needed refills. It is always a fun time to watch people on the bull too. Good side options and good steak. Priced fairly too

So I wasn't going to write a review. But have you ever been to a place and the experience was so bad you just had to review? Or the opposite where something was so exemplary that you had to review it too? Have you ever met someone that was so good at her job, you could tell she really enjoyed it, someone happy to be there and just made your day because of it? Well this was our server at TRH. Her name is Ashley (Venti) and she was amazing, so good at her job, so friendly, but not overbearing, happy to be there, helpful, kept all our drinks full, offered good opinions, told us fun stories about TRH. And even brought us peanuts. An absolute 5/5 for her service maybe even a 6/5 if that's possible. We ordered the bloomen onion for an appetizer. It was good but not as good as the original. 4/5 My son and I had the ribs and they were fall off the bone goodness with great flavor. Mine came with a side salad and seasoned rice. 5/5 My daughter had the sirloin and really enjoyed it, cooked perfectly at medium rare, really good flavor, and a loaded baked potato. 5/5 My wife had the herb encrusted chicken and enjoyed it. 4/5 Go to this location in Layton and ask for Ashley. She's the best. And no I have never met her before this.

I have eaten at different texas roadhouses numerous times. I would say once a month on average BUT the last time (today) was by far the worse customer service, food and experience I ever had. First, food... fries under cooked and very small portion, the ribs I received tasted okay but were 3/4 the size my wife received. You need to work on portion controls!!! The steak came to the table nearly moo'ing at me when I asked for medium rare. It took nearly 10 minutes to get it back. Once back, it was super "stringy"...if you eat steak enough you know what I mean. Customer service, A kid pukes right next to us....like right next us...on the floor. I get the attention of not one but four different employees about it. Some even walk through it...gross by the way. The last one finally gets help (thank you, she was awesome...she actual apologied to us and thanked us for attempting to get someone.) She has to stand over it for a couple of minutes because no one will help her....her the actual employee!!!! During all of this no apologies from management....nothing. Get your act together.

I haven't been to Texas Roadhouse since this day, however, the food and drinks were wonderful as always. We had amazing service and highly recommend this location. Service alone was 5 stars. This restaurant is a great place to take family and friends, noting that options are meat heavy (at least the last time we were there). I recommend getting reservations or on their waitlist for evenings and weekends, as the wait can be long.

We ordered a blueberry cornbread with lemon butter off the seasonal menu, and it was very good. I'm impressed at how well the combination went together. With that said, the cornbread could have been a little hotter. The main entrees were a steak hash also off the seasonal menu and an original breakfast. I have to say the steak cash was really good. Had a chimichurri on it and another sauce that went very well with a decent amount of meat and more than enough potatoes and other ingredients. The original breakfast was scrambled eggs with some cheese on it, potatoes and bacon. Again everything was very good. They have a line of fresh juices available none of which we tried but they do serve Coke products. All in all, while I'm not really big on chain restaurants, I would definitely go back here multiple times to try different things off the menu.

We actually really like First Watch but today the waitress we had was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE…read more I'm not the type of person that really complains. I'm pretty understanding. But Gemma was a nightmare. We walked in and it was so busy. We asked the girls at the front if we can self seat in the bar (it was my fiancé and I so we were looking to get in and out quickly) the girls said yes and we headed that way. We walked up and there were dirty dishes on the counter in front of the two empty seats. I decided to clean the area and clear the dirty plates, utensils, napkins and cups. We stood there for a few minutes until I decided to go to the restroom and get a wet paper towel to wipe the counter down. While I was gone Gemma doesn't greet my fiancé, no. She decides to make a snarky comment about him bringing coffee in to drink. Here's the thing. If first watch made lattes or coffee drinks other than drip coffee we would be happy to drink their coffee but they don't. So it should be perfectly acceptable for us to bring in a coffee drink that we actually want to drink. If Gemma is itching that bad to make a comment, try a joke. Something light. Don't come in hot. K so we are waiting to order and Gemma decides to help the people next to us (who got there first so obviously that's completely normal and fair) what wasn't completely normal and fair is sitting and watching Gemma talk with, be nice to and chit chat with the couple and then when she finally decides to come and take our order, it's a completely different experience. She didn't even greet us or say hello. She just asked us what we wanted very dryly, no smile, nothing. We ordered our food. She grabbed the menus with a straight look on her face (almost as if she's annoyed at our existence) and then turned and walked away. Like what the actual heck! I had to clear off my own area touching other people's dirty dishes, which I do not get paid to do, wipe down the counter which had thick sticky stuff all over it and egg juice everywhere. Then you're gonna be super nice to the people next to us and super rude to us for no reason at all other than maybe because we brought our own coffee in?! There really is no reason. It took a long time for our food to arrive and when it finally did, Gemma had put it into a different table, so the food runner was looking for us all over trying to get our food to us...coincidence? Perhaps. Or maybe she did it on purpose. Only Gemma knows. At this point there's no way coffee has triggered her this hard. It's gotta be something else... We noticed that Gemma never gave us utensils to eat with, so I then had to walk around and try to find someone to help. All of the utensils holders at the bar were empty. I saw Gemma, started to walk up to her and she tried to hurry away into the kitchen so I said "excuse me!!" And I told her we didn't have utensils and I asked if she could help us get some. She gave me the dirtiest look! Very SARCASTIC and like reached for the only two utensils that were in a bucket on the bar in front of an elderly lady who was eating. As if Gemma not only expected me to know where the utensils were, but also expected me to reach in front of this lady to grab them. It kind of feels like she should have given them to us like every other waitress and waiter does at every other restaurant that exists. I mean, the system works. Customers actually like if you treat them well and give them utensils to eat with. Then when she printed our receipt (never offered us a box but offered to everyone else around us) I asked her if her name was on the receipt and she literally yells at me "do you want a manager?" I replied "I'm sorry?" And then she quickly changed her volume and said it again in a normal speaking voice. I said no thank you and we left. The reason I didn't speak to a manager is because the absurdity of how Gemma treated us would have stopped at the managers ears but her service was SO TERRIBLE. Everyone should know. We did absolutely NOTHING to warrant such poor treatment. Gemma needs more training on customer service and treating ALL customers with respect and dignity despite whatever her insecurities or personal opinions are. We have 8 kids and I would be really disappointed if any of our children ever treated people so poorly for no good reason.

Hostess training another hostess, not knowing where she was going. You know you are waiting too long to be seated when you grab the menu to start making up for lost time. Everybody was just lost. Dishes and crap on every other table as employees just walked on by. Look liked the busboy (if he was one) was hanging out with the two hostesses. Back in my day, if you have time to lean, you have time to clean. I ordered the campfire beef meal. I mean, what was that? Tasteless, soggy old people food that I was able to squish a carrot between my tongue and palate. I did not have to chew any of it. They had to have wrapped this in foil this morning and kept it in a steamer. I have never tasted moosh carrots, onions, or tomatoes in one meal. Did they send it through the dishwasher or something? I have never had to season meat before, as it is an insult to the cook, but there was not enough salt/pepper on the table to put flavor into this meal. A-1 would have been my go-to, but it was not on the table. The server was nice enough, but she works there 7 days a week, takes the bus 2-3 hours each way, and she is sitting in a chair talking to us. Anyways, she asked me how the meal was, and I told her it was embarrassing. I did not have to chew anything except the corn on the cob; it was all mushy. How long do onions and carrots have to steam for the food to be that mushy? I had better food in a field in Afghanistan out of a steamer on a plastic tray. This was not even prison food quality. She gets the manager, manager, no name tag, not work clothing, just a blue blouse and black pants with a radio hanging off her hip. She walked up and said nothing, no introduction, nothing. I asked her if she was a manager or something, and she said, "Yes." I told her about the food, and she said basically I was lying because they make those meals to order fresh. No more than an hour before serving, then I said, Funny, they make it fresh, and we got the meal in 15 minutes, and it's mush. Then she said they pre-cook them about an hour in advance of somebody ordering it. Well, how do they know some buddy is going to order it for them to time travel an hour backwards to make the meal, because they are psychic. At least my server told me the truth. They make them well in advance and place them in a pan of water to heat them up. That makes sense because we are at 5 pm, and the meal tasted like 9 am sitting in a steamer all day. The manager gave me a stupid grin and had nothing to say, no apology or nothing. I said, Hey, I ate it, I'll pay for it. She turned and walked away with no comments. We got the bill, and the meal was on the check. While we were waiting, I signed up for the club rewards required if you wanted a military discount. As I was walking out, I got an email from CB saying I could order a free Share appetizer. LOL! I was tempted to go in for the pickled chips to go, but I was more concerned about being sick later. The server was tipped properly. I have never seen a server sitting in a chair talking to customers about her life while plates, dishes, and cups were stacking up on tables for customers to look at. Just ain't no way I am coming back!

Came both in the afternoon as well as at night. The bartender in the afternoon was super friendly, she was not at all bothered that we had a large group coming in and out. Great to talk to, gave us insights on Utah and the culture here while we were visiting. The bartender later in the evening however... well. We understand the bar was slammed, that is no excuse for the poor attitude and service though. She acted like everyone was a bother to her. When you're a service worker, which I have been, and are working on tips at the bar as well, you shouldn't be that dismissive. Especially when it comes to the safety of your patrons. The crowd in the evening was also weird, not at all super welcoming to outsiders. We were just in our group having drinks and conversation when an older gentleman started to cause an issue. He claimed we had moved his pool balls at his table. We were close, but not at all in the relevant area of the table. He began insulting us and trying to start an issue. We simply told him we didn't move his balls, he could check the cameras if he felt it was that serious, and we even offered multiple times to buy him a new set for the table and move on as grown men. He proceeded to brandish a firearm concealed. Interesting choice to carry at a bar, coming from another CCW holder in my residing state. He later mentioned to the bartender "I have my strap on me if they (us) follow me outside". This was directly by the bar and on camera if you doubt me. The bartender was of 0 assistance when we asked her to simply run the camera back a few minutes and prove we did not touch his table. She was EXTREMELY avoidant and dismissive about a potential hazard in her bar. Stellar service alright. At this point, we ordered the last rounds of whatever we were drinking and closed out. Did not want to tip on the experience, but out of pity for the bartender on the basis of the above issue (it's bullshit but it's still a safety issue) and how slammed she was, along with our group being larger. I've been in that position as a service worker. I hate to give this review because the experience was genuinely ok before this issue in the evening. The drinks were good, prices fair, typical dive bar affair. We aren't sure if racism had any play in this. We were the only minorities in there for the most part, and we have gotten weird stares through our time here in Layton. Nothing as concerning as this bar experience though.
