Brisket platter

Good footed and drink. Brisket was tasty but a really small portion. It may have been the party of 50 who surprised them on a Tuesday night.

One of our favorites. Dinner? Snacks? Just drinks with friends? All of the above? Yes. Drinks & food at The Coop are always top notch. If they don't have the drink you want listed on the menu, just describe what you're craving to your server or the bartender and there's a good chance they'll be able to make it happen. And the vibe is so great. You can go in and just relax for a while or bring a group.

The bartender, cocktails, and environment were amazing. I will be back. large variety to select from.

After looking on Yelp for a good place to hang and watch sports while dining, I found Roosters which was close to my hotel. I checked out the menus and found the food and reviews to be good enough to make the short walk over. After arriving, I decided to try The Coop, not knowing the difference between the main restaurant and the small venue attached. The atmosphere was very quaint and menu looked more like a smokehouse bistro. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I sat at the bar and ordered a couple of starters instead of an entree. Their menu is a bit limited, but enough for me at the time. I ordered the Coop Poutine which had an awesome gravy over fried cheese curds and fries. A bit salty, but quite savory. I also took the Smokehouse Wings with the spicy plum sauce. There were 8 large wings. That should have been enough even without the Poutine. Andrina was my bartender and was excellent. Again, I confirmed that draft beers are only 5% ABV, but bottles and cans were standard. Every State has some type of crazy law and Utah is no exception. I chose the Roosters Double IPA in a can. Beer, wings, poutine---perfect.

Whisky sour was on point. Wish I could say the same for the rest of the meal.

We wanted to love it here. Our service wasn't wonderful. Our drinks were given to another table, I understand that we went on a Saturday night... but it wasn't very busy. My husband and I ordered burgers, we both asked for our burgers medium, but they were both extremely well done, more than well done. Very dry and no condiments were brought with the burger. No mayo, no mustard, no ketchup ir any type of sauce. The buns were buttered and toasted. I got pickles on the side of my burger, the husband didn't receive any. And the pickles were pretty tasty. On the other hand, the cheese tray was delicious, and the queso and chips were also good. I'll come again and give it another try, but overall. Not impressed.

Excited to see this space finally used! Went in on Friday this weekend. You seat yourself, and you must be 21 to get in. Loved the vibes, they did a great job on this location. Good Music playing , bar was poppin, service was great! Ordered 2 dishes to share as we were not that hungry, and 2 cocktails. Food was fast and delish! Poutine was on point with the addition of shishito peppers! Pork was tender, flavorful and just right portion size. Can't wait to come back to try more things!

Okay, hands down best bar with GOOD food in Layton. I love this place. We come back here a lot. There's the ambience and many places to choose where to sit. I love that they give you the option to choose where to sit!!! You have to get the chips and dip for appetizer! The ribs with yummy sides are our favorite dishes to order. They make drinks off the menu at request. I love how they make a New York Sour. The best!

The menu is basically the same, and we understand that the ownership is the same, but they just left the franchise. The location is being remodeled on the exterior and a large new patio area is being constructed. It is a bit hard to determine that they are open, because there are a lot of construction things happening, and the "Open" sign is small. It wasn't very busy when we were there at lunch time on a weekday. The service was very friendly and willing to chat with us about the new business. I ordered a Cobb Salad with blue cheese dressing. I remember liking the dressing at the old business, and the dressing was different this time, but still good. The salad had a good variety of toppings standard with a cobb salad, but some of the lettuce was a bit wilted. I just pulled those pieces out and set them on the side. My husband ordered the Wednesday special of 4 chicken wings for $6 deal. He got the naked ones (without breading) with the dry rub flavor. He said they tasted good, but he wished they were more meaty. This is a good place to hang out with friends and watch some sports since they have a bunch of TV's around the room. They also have one pool table and Touch Tunes for music. They have draft beers as well as bottled along with a full bar is if you want a cocktail.

This is an old location and has been a number of different bars through the years (Linda Lou's,…read moreetc.) however, it has been sold (previous owner had John Taffer and his Bar Rescue team from TV come in and do a remodel). It is just around the corner from the Do Drop Inn bar on the intersection of Hill Field Rd. where the South gate to Hill Air Force Base is located. The new owner has built upon that and re-opened it as the SouthGate Tavern. It is a small space, but feels welcoming as you come in through the door. Beer and liquor license means they have a tap with your standard and light beers as well as some bottles beers and liquor for your cocktail and shots needs. Pool table in the back and a small area that is used for Karaoke on certain nights (Jackson the Karaoke Dude is here a few times a week). On our visit, the beer was cold and the Karaoke was fun, but we didn't sing. They offer food but it was strange that the bartender had to run to a cooler room next to the bathrooms to get the Chicken Fingers and wedges that I ordered. Just grocery store chicken strips that were quickly air-fried and served. Not great. However at least they did have some food offered. Everything else was fun and cool. They do have some daily specials for drinks, etc. If you are in the area and in the mood for cold beer or shots for a good price, stop in and check out the SouthGate tavern.

One odd thing--they use table clothes but then put paper on top. This felt a bit off for the fancy atmosphere they were trying to create. We had lots of delicious food. Our meal started off with the Daily Bread & Butter and Caesar. Both paired well together. For entrees, I had the Wagyu Zabuton, which was cooked well and was paired with flavorful sides. My husband had the Lamb Chops, which were beautifully plated. All the cocktails were amazing, but my favorite was the Madam's Choice. They didn't do anything special for anniversaries, but it was fine because we were full of food and took the leftovers home. I'm excited to try this place for Sunday brunch next!

I had to wait what felt like an epoch for my delicious, chicken-y reward, and despite the size of the restaurant and relatively tame level of busy-ness, wait staff still took their sweet time and did not get bread out in a timely fashion. The ambiance is like 'millennial interior design final boss' - imagine being trapped within the pages of Magnolia Table, and everyone looks and sounds like the first Google results for 'hipster'. I wouldn't mention this if the smarminess of staff didn't compound the frustration of having to wait forever for like three pieces of bread. So, if you're in the area and have a refined palette that craves rich, delicious flavors against a backdrop of open French windows, I'd say go for it. The food definitely outcompetes the annoyance I felt. But seriously, get the chicken sandwich.

Characterized by a vintner-curated menu of blended wines and cocktails, the dimly lit spot is warm and attractive. The interior is appointed with art work, shiplap and stone work. The communal tables add to the festive decore and allow for making new friends, especially on Christmas (during our visit). The owner, Steve, is a Sommelier by training and has mad skills. His space is welcoming and he's passionate about a great guest experience, often planning unique events like an oyster shucking master class, glass blowing workshops, candlemaking, and, of course, private wine tastings. I also did not go to Sundance and am not here for that so his comment about being *out of my depth* is just dumb. Original review below *********** There is a $20 cover charge to enter, and they were out of all of the cheapest ($30/glass) glasses of wine, so we were forced to get the next cheapest, a $45 glass of wine. Are you willing to spend $65 for a cheap glass of wine? They also only have five cocktails on the menu and you can't order anything else with liquor (I asked for a hot toddy cuz I'm freezing and they said no can do). The singer was good and the ambiance is nice; not very crowded. But overall, I would never pay $65/glass for mediocre wine unless I'm at an ultra luxury resort (which this is not).
