Espresso Martini and Sampler Dip Platter
    Jolene L.

Shout out to Mac, the best bartender in SLC mixing up the greatest espresso martinis in the state! My girlfriends and I have tried other espresso martinis in other bars and this is by far the best tasting! You won't find it on their menu. That speaks volumes. Once, on a week night it happened to be a little less crowded and Mac let me request Prince. No one objected and we sang along to Prince songs for a good hour till closing :) From that moment on, she remembered me, Prince, and my favorite beverage. So tonight, we got there early for seating and Mac mixed her amazing espresso martinis. Such a lovely way to celebrate! Attached to Lazziz restaurant, you can order items off their menu and enjoy delicious food too. Street parking available and restroom is clean. If you like espresso martinis, this is where it's at! Thank you Mac, Corynn, Celeste, and Gemini for the great memories....will cherish this forever!

Truly my favorite cocktails I've had in Salt Lake City. Back Door is a cozy little cocktail lounge tucked away on Edison Street. The ambiance here is so perfect and cozy. There's 6 tables and bar seating so it's a very intimate setting. The decor is stunning, and the chairs and couches are so comfortable. The bar is 21+ and it's attached to Laziz's downtown location. Back Door offers a small plates menu that you can order at the bar with Laziz's dipping sauces, beignets, and small plates like grape leaves and halloumi. It's my understanding that you can also order other larger menu items from Laziz directly and bring them back into the bar. We obviously got the beignets to share. They are a must try if you've never had them! I ordered their Frosted Water Lilly cocktail and it was amazing - frothy, creamy, and delicious with coconut, lime, and botanical liqueurs. The drinks here are all so thoughtfully prepared. They take a minute to come out because they are so well crafted, and they are worth the wait. My partner got the Not Your Dad's Old Fashion and it was equally wonderful and a really refreshing twist on your typical Old Fashioned. A great lounge with amazing cocktails. The perfect way to start or end your night! Service is fantastic and the vibes are immaculate.

Laziz's bar concept is a cozy, vintage-inspired spot with Mediterranean flair, perfect for date nights. The Sampler Dip Plate offers a great intro with three dips, including a tangy Spiced Labne and a sweet Beet Dip. The Grilled Halloumi is a standout--rich, salty, and satisfying. For mains, the Lebanese Platter with tender chicken, tzatziki, and lentil rice is a flavorful surprise in every bite, while the Lamb Meatballs pack a spicy punch, though a bit dry. Drinks are creative--just tell the bartender your preferences. Heads up: last orders for food are at 9 PM!

I almost don't want to review this spot because it's such a small venue and I selfishly don't want it to get so busy, where I can't comfortably enjoy a meal and drinks here. Alas, I saw the pictures in my photo album and knew I needed to share that Back Door deserves a solid 4 1/2 stars. As their website describes, this certainly is a cozy, speakeasy-style cocktail lounge tucked behind the Laziz Kitchen downtown. In fact, the main entrance located on the side alley of Edison was closed the night I attended. I had to enter through Laziz Kitchen and the host escorted me back. It's been some time since attending, so unfortunately I have forgotten our bartenders name. She was a gem! Our cocktail's were great and we enjoyed watching her make them as well. We ordered a dip sampler which came with Pita Bread and assorted veggies. All three samplers were delicious and flavorful. Of course I had to try their French Fries. Zatar Fries specifically. Nice flavor. Just the right amount of seasoning. Wish they were crispier, but that didn't stop us from finishing them off. I thoroughly enjoyed this lounge. I will definitely be back to try more menu items.

    Beautiful delicious drinks!

Shoutout to Mac for taking such great care of us. Awesome curated cocktail menu! The place was vibey and chill, a perfect low-key atmosphere in a speakeasy setting. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a unique bar experience with creative cocktails.

"Beloved" in Arabic, and also the name of a beautiful cocktail.

I'm really enjoying what's happening over on Edison Street. I REALLY enjoy that Laziz moved into to downtown proper - AND - that they opened a cocktail lounge. Sophisticated, Bold, Playful is their motto and both the environment and the menu live up to it. It was Sundance weekend so we arrived at opening. We settled in with drinks. Habibi ("Beloved" in Arabic) was the cocktail to start . It's a beautiful cocktail, if a bit sweet. We enjoyed having the place to ourselves for a short time, but it soon filled up. Still it's a low key experience, small enough that we could all still participate in the conversation without shouting at each other, unlike at other cocktail lounges downtown. Food is ordered at the table, and the bartender doubles as server. He was always there when we needed him but never hovered. We ordered the baba ghannouj, beet dip, halloumi, zataar fries, and lamb meatballs. Sadly, the halloumi and lamb meatballs were not available that evening, a reminder that restaurants are still doing their best with supply constraints. We supplemented our order with the fried cauliflower. Portions were large enough to share among our group. Flavors were bold but not overwhelming. And quality is never a question with Laziz. All around an excellent experience that I can see becoming a regular in rotation. If you enjoy a creative but approachable cocktail experience with an imaginative and refreshing menu, this is it. One small suggestion for the bartender - maybe mix up the playlist and give patrons a break from 90's hip hop. Redman, Common and Naughty by Nature all sound the same and get pretty tired after a couple of hours.

Back door is considered a speakeasy in SLC, but it's not really a speakeasy. There's no hidden door, or no password to be given. You just walk right in and grab a seat at the bar. I went on a chilly Wednesday night to host a couple of friends visiting from out of state. Very small venue and few seating arrangements inside. There seems to be a maximum of maybe 15 people before it gets too crowded, but great spot kick back and enjoy a few drinks. The "speakeasy drinks" starts at $12 per drink. I asked the bartender to make me a pretty drink for Yelp and she suggested the Habibi. I'm not a fan of local distilleries so instead of the dented brick gin, I asked for Bombay. The drink was a bit on the sweeter end, but I didn't mind. My first drink was an extra dirty martini with gin and vodka so it was extra boozy! Turn up! It's located in a semi dark street called Edison ST and it's behind Laziz Kitchen. It's also just a half block away from beer bar and bar x if you're looking to bar crawl/hop in this area. Ask them about the window. It's a cool story!

Heard about this amazing hidden speakeasy spot, so I had to go try it out. It is connected to the new laziz, so the food items are basically from there. Going in to a dark lit room makes it feels like a scene from a movie. There are tiny little lamps on table, so you feel like you're the only one in the room. The bartenders are amazing. If you don't know what to drink or have a mood you're in, they can always make a drink for you. The drinks here are yummy. They are all very fancy looking, so get your cameras ready for all your Insta worthy drink pics. I would totally come back here for a laid back chill night.

Darling speakeasy located behind the new Laziz on Edison in SLC. Lots of cocktails and mocktails in their cozy luxe space with the bonus of amazing food from Laziz.
