    Steak and egg special

I've always enjoyed Black Bear diner, and the steak and egg special is worth stopping in for. The steak isn't particularly great, but it's a satisfying meal, in a nice atmosphere, with very good service. They don't complain about substitutions, which is nice. $4 for a coffee or iced tea is sort of outrageous, but that's today's prices.

Since getting here in the Phoenix area, I have been to a Black Bear Diner three times. A friend of mine recommended it and I agree with him that Black Bear Diner is a great place to eat. You get a lot of scrumptious food for your money. I've had the biscuits and gravy as well as a veggie omelet. Everything was very good. The service is also wonderful. Our servers and cashiers were always a delight to talk with. They took our order without error and brought our food out quickly. Our coffee cups were continuously topped off. I liked the ambiance. The wall decorations, the outside decorations and even the souvenir store were great. On top of that the bathroom was clean and smelled so good. Thank you to the Black Bear Diner staff for a satisfying experience here in the greater Phoenix area.

WAS chicken fried steak, 2 eggs, toast and can't eat the hash browns. Very good food!! Very good customer service!!

Why has it taken me so long to get back here??? I made a quick stop for breakfast in the middle of my work day @blackbeardiner It smelled like home cooked breakfast in the parking lot, greeted and seated immediately, waitress was very friendly and went over some top favorites. I tried a few dishes but this stood out the most. Oversized soft fluffy biscuits, creamy savory gravy with the right amount of salt and seasoning, topped over that biscuit. Perfection! As I am eating I realize I didn't see the chicken and waffle plate on the menu and that was one that always hit for me. I'll definitely be stopping back for another brunch experience. Heck, I may just have to try dinner too. I love me some delicious comfort food! Just a cozy spot to have brunch. I love the little country stop as you walk in.

So I went to the blackbear diner this morning for breakfast ordered the Dave's omelette, which is bacon sausage ham in the in the omelette supposedly instead I got a scrambled egg taco all the ingredients spread across the top with the cheese on top of it not an omelette not even an egg taco just scrambled eggs with ingredients on top hashbrowns with cheese and up charge not gold. Coffee was good. Service was OK. The manager came over and knocked off five dollars for the piss poor omelette not sure if I'll be back. It's a mom and Pop type restaurant, as you can see the before pitcher look like it might be an omelette until I opened up the egg and found out it wasn't

Met my family here for lunch and it was my first time trying Black Bear Diner. My family has eaten here before and so I had high hopes! I ordered the tri-tip dip sandwich deluxe style with a side salad. My first bite was "ok" the meat was very tough and kinda hard to chew. The second bite I got had the deluxe grilled onions and mushrooms. The veggies instantly tasted of cleaner as if they were sitting near bleach or some sort of cleaning product. It was very hard to get down. As I moved my sandwich out of the way to take a bite of my salad there was a long black hair IN my sandwich, to which would of been my next bite. I pulled the hair out and laid it on my napkin to show the server. Upon showing her, she acted as if she wasn't surprised. All she said was "want another one"? I replied "no I'm ok". (I'm not eating anything else from this place, are you kidding me?). The most disappointing part was that she didn't say sorry, no manager came over to apologize or see if we needed anything else. The tri-tip was comp'd off the bill, obviously someone was aware of the disgusting hair, but clearly no one cared. Red flag: that's alarming. It was hard for me to decide whether to rate a 2 or 3 star review, since my family all seemed to like what they had ordered. However, after contiplating it, a two star seemed more appropriate since this was my experience. *pictures shown are of my food and my boyfriends burger. I did not take a picture of the hair, as I was disgusted and in disbelief*

I'd been meaning to try this location after seeing a few of my fellow Yelper friends review this place. Just like they said, this place did not disappoint! Seasoned well and cooked perfectly to order for both the over easy eggs and medium rare steak. Breakfast perfection! - Patty Melt: My boyfriend said it was delicious, and the small bite I tried was great. You can tell they season their burger patties. We came in with our family and three kids and sat on the patio since we were a larger group. After eating, our kids were sitting in chairs near our table, chatting and moving around a bit. They weren't being loud or disruptive, but a nearby a couple clearly seemed upset. The woman was shaking her head and saying to the waitress "this isn't okay to be doing while people are eating", pointing toward our kids. Once I realized this, I immediately called my kids back over and had them sit with us, and I even let her know that if something was bothering her, she could've told us and I would have addressed it right away. The couple chose to ignore us and left shortly after. The manager then came out and reassured us that Lucky Lou's is a family-friendly restaurant and that our kids were absolutely fine. That meant a lot to us and really showed how supportive and understanding the staff is. I also hope one day that couple realizes how hard it is to keep a 4-, 6-, and 8-year-old sitting at a table for more than 30 minutes without shoving an iPad in front of them. On top of that, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was welcoming, and I honestly had the best burger and tater tots of my life. We'll definitely be back--thank you for creating such a kid-friendly and enjoyable place for families!

We grabbed a booth overlooking Page street and the foot traffic outside. Our server tonight was Treven who joined us table side. He had our drink and starters in quickly. My wife ordered the Lucky Penny Latte and I had iced tea. Starter was their out of this world Burrata. The photos fall short of its glory. Entrees was their memorable minestrone soup, and I ordered their sesame ginger noodle salad featuring sweet potato glass noodles which are delicious and a host of smartly paired vegetables, chicken and a pleasant ginger sriracha delivering some spice and heat without overpowering the dish itself. For desert we fell way off the wagon with their in-house carrot cake. A slice easily feeds four and we enjoyed ours with espressos. Dinner was excellent from the service to the scratch kitchen food, and expressos, Magnifico! $125.00 with tip and leftovers too. Date night my friends-SYOY!
