My wife and I have been going here ever since we moved to Phoenix to April. Very pleasant staff and good food. HOWEVER, they have gotten loose on Covid protections. Customers roam in, out, & through the diner without a mask and no one says a word. When we paid our bill, Renee removed his face shield-I guess thinking the plastic barrier was offering enough protective. My wife very uncomfortable there and does not what to return. The meds she takes compromises her immune system so we have to careful. Let's see if I get a response and what that response is. read more

This place serves breakfast and lunch all day! The food is fresh, delicious and everyone is so friendly! I recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality home cooking taste. This is the second time I've come here and both times very consistent. The first time I had the tuna sandwich and this time I had Split pea soup and a chef salad. My wife absolutely loves the Breakfast Sandwich here, she says it's amazing every time and refuses to order something else. I give her a hard time about it. I always order the Biscuits and Gravy, boring! Yet I don't feel guilty about it, so good! First Review: I have been to this place at least 20 times. The food here is great. Staff is really, really polite and attentive. 5 stars. Food: 3 stars. Facilities/readiness: 0 stars. I noticed a client had Starbucks coffee in his hands. Good move, coffee is un-drinkable. Thought I'd add creamer to make it better. Little creamers are all sticky, with yellow crust on. Food came fast. Nothing really stood out. It's fair. Cooked properly. Generic rand ketchup (please get real ketchup), bottle was empty. Stomach started grumbling shortly after I started eating. No toilet paper in the bathroom. Don't ask me how i made it to the other stall but i did. No toilet paper there either. Bathroom is filthy. Air filters in the ceiling are disgusting. It was about 80 degrees in the restaurant. Very unpleasant. I could not get out of there fast enough. Spent half the day in the bathroom now. Recommend if you need gastric emptying. read more

Subtle, that's the word I'm looking for to get this started. Sometimes life's best moments are in the small things that might go unnoticed but make the difference between mundane and wonderful. For me today at Biscuits it was the tomatoes. This biscuits is about a mile from my home and I go here a few times a year. I would go more often but frankly it is too popular on Sunday morning for me to be there taking up a table while I drink coffee and work on my laptop. But let's get to the point here. What about those tomatoes? If you ask, almost any breakfast place will replace the hash browns with Sliced tomatoes. The quality of those tomatoes will vary from two barely ripe slices to something wonderful. But, in most cases even the really nice places treat them like an afterthought. And that is where attention to detail and subtlety come in. I ordered the same breakfast I have requested everywhere, several times a week for over 60 years - two eggs over medium, toast, crisp bacon and sliced tomatoes. This morning the eggs were hot and perfect, the sourdough toast was toasted just enough with the slices facing each other so they didn't get butter on the back side (subtle) of each piece. The bacon was crisp but not burned and just look at that - the four slices of tomatoes were ripe, and presented on a piece of Romain lettuce that looked good and kept the tomatoes out of the egg when I sliced up the egg. Service is always good at this biscuits and they have a lot of "regulars" who are here on Sunday. I doubt most of them pay any attention to the subtle aspects of Americas most common breakfast but they should because it also indicates attention to detail that probably goes into things like cleaning the grill, hand washing for employees and other little things that are important to your overall well being. In the end the breakfast was not unique or exceptional but the overall experience was much better than average, it is consistent week over week, and the food has never disappointed me. Oh yea, I almost forgot the coffee! You get a pot of hot coffee. It is not a big deal, just better than average restaurant coffee, but I work my way through the whole pot and never want to leave it and just drink the water. So if you find yourself on weekend morning wondering where to try for breakfast this week, go try Biscuits on Elliot in Tempe and maybe you will become a regular as well. read more

If you can make an egg, congratulations. Nothing special about this place unless you can't cook for yourself. They make a good meal but it's breakfast. I mean, it's good but it's breakfast. My husband and I ate here with friends while in Phoenix. We were seated quickly and offered drinks by a very friendly man who appeared to do a little of everything. He was awesome and so nice. Our server was great also and the food was top notch. We enjoyed everything. My husband had eggs Benedict and I had the traditional bacon and eggs. The portion sizes were large and the biscuit I had was especially good. Our server made sure our drinks were kept filled and we had everything we needed. After the second time here, I have to say that this place has become my favorite restaurant in Tempe for breakfast. They serve your typical breakfast lineup, but the food is so tasty. It's not common to find Portuguese's Linguica sausage in Arizona, so I had to take advantage of it. The sausage with the eggs and the hash browns fulfilled my morning hunger. My boyfriend and I were really excited to try out this place but won't be going back. Once seated, it took 15 minutes for a waitress to acknowledge us or give us water. We ordered immediately and then waited another 35 minutes for our food to come. My boyfriend got biscuits and gravy which he said was good. Staff was friendly, restaurant clean and somewhat country cozy. Ordered the biscuit special with 2 eggs, bacon and home fries. Eggs were perfectly cooked over medium. Let me start by saying, I was not looking to get anything for free. I understand businesses are struggling and I try to be understanding and always tip a minimum of 20%. Got my food and there was a black hair on my plate. (Not my hair color.) I hate to send anything back, but I feel it was very reasonable to do so. I got a replacement and they took it off my bill. (I did not ask them to.) I received potatoes that were 60% green peppers and hardly any potatoes. Fine. We always run out of options for a Friday lunch. I used to work around the valley and was always looking for nice traditional food. Happened to find this amazing place in the corner of a plaza. I love how nicely this restaurant is set up. Its cute to spend a nice afternoon or even so for a nice heavy brunch. People are very friendly and service is pretty quick. I have ordered grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. The chicken cooked to perfection and sauce on the side, along with mashed potatoes which just melted as you take a bite. I was a little disappointed with the fish and chips. The fish is great with the crispness perfect but the slices are so huge that when you are half way through, the mid section of the fish is not so tasty. I'm rating this 3 stars for honest effort and ambiance. The restaurant was pleasant, and the service was great. Everyone working there was really, really friendly. I was disappointed with my food, which was not bad, but not particularly tasty. I had the chicken fried chicken because it could be made to order - opting out of the chicken fried steak which I was told was frozen (I asked). My food arrived promptly. It was piping hot and the portion was generous, but it was all so bland. The chicken fried steak was like a chicken cutlet, and lacking flavor. The gravy lacked flavor, and the sausage in it was difficult to see or taste. My scrambled eggs were ok as scrambled eggs go. The biscuit lacked the texture I was hoping for, and the potatoes, while nicely cooked, lacked any savory element to speak of. But after eating a small amount, I paid and left. If I ever decide to go back, I think that I'll need to be very specific that I don't want my food to be bland. All in all, a pretty average experience. read more

I also had country potatoes with my meal, which were heavily slathered with whatever buttery-oil concoction they use on the grill. I ordered poached eggs with my meal, but unfortunately the cook left half an eggshell in my egg so when I bit into it there was an unpleasant crunch. I wasn't expecting too much, especially when we had to wait to be seated and the rr was only 1/2 full. But I was encouraged to wait for it and much to the delight of my tastebuds I did. We sampled: Biscuits Special, House omelet and Chicken Fried Steak w/ grits. The biscuits and gravy were delicious, no trace of grease or fats...though I'm certain they were in there. Once you've had the fried steak it will be difficult to want to try anything else on the menu, but let me just say everything we had was satisfying delicious somehow felt like a "healthy" meal. Being that this place is called "Biscuits," I had to try their biscuit and southern gravy. It was pretty good! Came super drenched in gravy. The potatoes it was served with were just bland. Could've used some seasoning. I also ordered the cinnamon roll to share. It wasn't my favorite cinnamon roll, as the glaze on top tasted more buttery and less like icing. And the dough wasn't as soft/gooey as I like. The good thing is that I came on a Saturday morning at around 10:30 and there was no wait. They had a few booths and tables open, which is rare with most brunch places. This place is basically like a step up from diner food. There was only one server in the room portion we were in and she was clearly overwhelmed and forgetful. We walked in and menus were handed to someone to seat us, maybe a busser.. a couple minutes later the server came over. As we are looking over the menu, something catches my husbands eye behind me on the booth that I am sitting. As I finally turn to look over my right shoulder, there is a big ass roach laying on its back with all legs just moving away. Very RUDE SERVICE! This was not our first visit here and we USUALLY have a good experience, but this was the first time in almost 3yrs that I am actually considering never coming back. So, my son and I in unison decided to come here for breakfast because we were both craving the same thing- hamburger steak with a double helping of potatoes instead of eggs. The parking lot was full when we drove up so I knew they must be busy, which it was so when we were seated I thought it was good that we already knew what we wanted. After about 10mins of waiting, our waitress came up and asked what we would like to drink, I replied, "We are ready to order too, if that's okay." To which she huffed and said, "Well, there's other tables in front of you that need to order so I'll wait to put in your food order." WHAT?!? So I'm being penalized for being a repeat customer and knowing the menu? But instead of being upset first thing in the morning, we just ordered. My husband, luckily finished up a project for his class and decided to come meet us, which with our busy schedules, we rarely get to eat as a family so we were excited. He, also knowing the menu, text me what he wanted. I saw our waitress bussling about, busy and panic stricken so I decided to wait for her to have a moment to come and possibly check our drinks that had clearly gone dry. She came out with our food, dropped it on the table, I looked at her and asked, "My husband is coming to meet us, is it okay..." and instead of letting me finish, SHE THREW UP HER HAND IN FRONT OF MY FACE in a stop motion, yelled, "NO!", turned around and ran off. My 12yr old son looked as shocked as I was. There was NOTHING in my tone that was demanding or disrespectful. I understand that she was busy but that was the most rudest, degrading experience I have ever had. I am NOT a child. If you can't handle the stress of being a waitress then DON'T BE ONE!!! My son knowing I was upset asked if I was okay, and that alone was humiliating, being spoken down to in front of my child. Again, I decided to let it go. I ate my breakfast. My son scarfed down his food, which was proof that although I was upset, we still loved the food, and when I was halfway done with my food, our waitress returned and rudely asked, "You wanted something to go?" I told her, "No, my husband is coming here..." again, not letting me finish she quickly says, "So you don't need anything then?" That's when I got upset and replied, "I didn't say that. I still need food but for here, not to go." She could tell I was now getting mad so she allowed me to order. A couple minutes later she dropped off the food and did not come back. My husband wanted to order a coffee or at least get a water, but she knew that I was upset and probably knew that he knew what she did and didn't want to approach our table again. My son was kind enough to give him what was left of his water. She finally came back when my husbands food was gone with a refilled water and the check, didn't make eye contact with us or say anything. My husband wanted to speak to a manager but all I wanted to do was get out of there. My husband, son and I, although left with satisfied tummies, left emotionally upset which outweighs the food. The food and service was great, however without notice they tip themselves five dollars with out telling you. I didn't notice it was on the very bottom of my receipt until I already paid and tipped. So the server got tipped twice. It was only a party of two. Either they do this automatically or assumed I wouldn't of tipped. read more
