a glass table with a drink in it

Bin 216 is a swanky spot for a high-end cocktail. Located in Playhouse Square, Bin 216 is directly adjacent to most of the theaters and connects directly into several (though those doors are not always open for access). It had been a very long time since I stepped foot into Bin, but it's as upscale as I remembered it to be. We stopped in in the middle of the day during CIFF for a quiet drink during a slow time and had the place nearly to ourselves. I ordered a delicious moscow mule while my friends ordered some various small plates and a glass of wine. We had excellent service and our drinks were made quickly. This is definitely a go-to spot if you're at Playhouse Square, but don't come here expecting to eat dinner. Small plates only to accompany your drink. Think of Bin 216 as a solid spot for a drink with friends, a cocktail before a show, or maybe even a first date where you want to really get to know someone in a quiet enviornment!

Pierogi, and potatoes! Can't say enough about how delicious the food is here!

Beautiful atmosphere, food is absolutely amazing, wine and drinks perfect! Great date night before a show.

This restaurant knows its target audience and does its job well! We came here as most of the patrons had come to for that night - before watching a broadway show! The menu is made of comfort-food type small plates. The food hit the spot for a satisfying but not too much before watching a show Service was fast! Drinks were boozy! Can't ask for more!

I had tickets to a 7:30 show, and have been wanting to visit this wine bar for quite some time. I finally had an opportunity to do so and was glad I took the time! First of all, when you arrive at 4-4:30 be prepared to be the only customers there for awhile. They had a happy hour menu so I decided to try a glass of Pinot Grigio and the "hanky pankies" appetizer. The bartender was friendly and made sure to check on me often. I will be back to try more tapas and drinks soon!

    What Calamari??? A mere taste!

Having been a Redcoat for 22 years at Playhouse Square this location for dining has always been a go-to, tried and true. This is why is saddens me to have to post a dreadful, shameful review of both the food and the management. We arrived just before 2pm for a 3pm show. Pressed for time, but certainly they would accommodate us as always. They did. We ordered appetizers due to time restrictions but still anticipated good, quality food. So, the quick answer to that question, is yes the taste was good enough, not great! Here is the skinny... the California "Chicken" Flatbread was said to have (per the name) chicken, spinach, artichokes and cheese. The BBQ drizzle was sweet and light on the tongue, the chicken was 3 small diced morsels and the artichoke was non-existent. Matt, the server was shown the pic of when it arrived (for YELP, of course), since we had eaten it with No One asking how our food was...or they would have known from the start, that this was MOST disappointing. He went back to the kitchen per my request to return stating the artichoke is in the cheese sauce! Seriously, the menu does not say artichoke cheese sauce. It says Artichokes. So a $12 BBQ cheese flatbread is basically what we were served! Remember, 3 bites of poultry, so in the 6 slices, only 2 had meat. The Calamari dish came out with 11 pieces! A $13 dish with 13 teeny tiny, itsy bitsy little calamari rounds is a joke, but we did not find it funny. Especially since, across the street at CIBREO you receive a bowl of enough to share between 2 or 3 people. Here is the worst part, Matt disappeared twice to come back with "we are changing management at 3pm" so all he could offer was dessert WHEN HE KNEW WE WERE READY TO LEAVE. Where the heck was a Manager??? No one cared and I cannot believe I left a tip. When you want to speak with a manager, whether you are ready to punch out or come one, someone is still on duty and this is just awful, poor, lack lustre, inconsiderate LACK of service. I did not even have the energy to tell you how they shook my Tito's martini so dang long that all I tasted was bitter water... smh..pathetic!!!

As a pretty regular theatre-goer, I often passed Bin 216 on my way to the State Theatre or Connor Palace but always thought it would be too busy to stop in. I finally visited on a weekend before the 7:30pm Anastasia show and was pretty excited because I had heard some great things! However, I was very disappointed in the food and drinks and likely will go back to my standard routine of East 4th prior to shows. We arrived early - 5:30ish - and it wasn't very busy. It started to pick up around 6, so we probably made it right in the knick of time! I wouldn't call the menu TAPAS.. it was just straight-up bar food. Spinach and artichoke dip, sliders, tater tots, flatbread... everything you could find at a college bar. We saw that everyone had sliders, so we ordered those and spin dip. If I had known that those were the offerings (shame on me for not checking the menu before, but the yelp reviews had different menus!) I would have just gone to Butcher and the Brewer. The sliders tasted like smooshed-down meatballs. The spin dip was okay, but I think they used a cream cheese base which just isn't my cup of tea (personal preference). The food came out quickly though, so that's a positive. We were going to order wine but the yelp reviews recommended the cocktails. Bad decision. I ordered one of the whiskey drinks and could barely taste the whiskey. My boyfriend didn't even finish his drink. Overall, just not a wonderful experience and I doubt that I will take the time to go back. I guess that's the price you pay for convenience!

What a cool place for date night, girls night, or even just dinner before a musical with your mom. No matter the occasion this little hidden gem of a place has great character, food, and drinks. Looking inside it may seem super upscale but the staff was laid back and friendly which made for a great atmosphere. The wine selection was great, and even though it was only "small plates" it was delicious! Would love to stop in again.

Dinner: fried chicken sliders, dark and stormy drink, and rice pudding.

Went here before seeing a show at the Conner Palace. My companion and I were pleasantly surprised. First it's very long area. And you can seat yourself. They have nice chairs and couches too. Not just the traditional table and chairs. Menu is snacks, small plates and dessert. It's not huge. The drink menu is larger. But honestly it was ok. I ordered a drink: the Dark & Stormy. My companion ordered: The Hemingway. We both enjoyed our drinks. Winner there. For dinner I got the fried chicken sliders and my companion got the CAB sliders or certified angus beef. Both were very tastee. The fried chicken was a bit spicy and sweet. And the fires were salty and had rosemary. Delish! The CAB sliders got 2 big thumbs up as well. I am told the bacon was. Ice and crispy too. We did get dessert. We had room. The small plates were small enough so we had room. I got the rice pudding and my companion got the salted Carmel torte with salted Carmel ice cream. Again 2 thumbs up. Our server was very good. He was talkative but not too much and was prompt in checking on us. Best part we could wait till 15 mins before curtain and go out the back door and walk to the theatre via the hallway. It was great! We weren't cold or wet. Just walk easily in. Definite return visit is in order.

Simply put this is classy wine bar. There is a quiet ambience and very inviting. Great for date night or a place to catchup with the girls. We like to go before a show at Playhouse. There is even a door in the back that connects to the theaters - perfect on a rainy or snowy night which occur so frequently in Cleveland. Our drinks were great, a little pricey, but well with it. We split to apps to hold us over till dinner after the show. The food is delicious but the portions are small which means don't count on eating dinner here.

A classy little tapas-style bar only a few steps away from the theater - definitely the perfect spot to grab a quick bite before a show! Even when my group was tight on time, our waiter made sure our food was in and out quickly. I will say that prices are a little high for the sizes you get, but I didn't expect any less for the Playhouse Square area. If you're looking for a full-on meal for cheap, I suggest heading elsewhere. Otherwise, the food here is delicious!

Sorry, ate the two other crab cakes too fast.
    Drew R.

Nice tapas stop before the show. Hadn't been here in awhile and it seems much better than our memory. Flatbread was very good and the crab cakes surprised in a positive way. We will come back.

Great spot for a pre-show light dinner and glass of wine. Staff is pleasant. It can get loud as the crowd rolls in.

It's a small place and we thought we'd have to wait but luckily a couple were leaving so we got seats at the bar. It would have been worth the wait. We picked a couple drinks off the menu and they were incredibly beautiful and tasted divine. The pizza we ordered had anchovies and pepperoni and I swear it's the best wood fired pizza I've ever had. I wanted another drink and asked the bartender to make me a rum drink of their choice. Within minutes some amazing concoction, it was smoking inside a glass dome of some sort. The garnish was a flamed cinnamon stick and orange rind that looked like a sword. It was incredible. The vibe is nice and patrons are friendly. It's not loud, so you can carry on a conversation, and the music was nice. There is a cute little back room with tables too for groups of 2-4 people. Parking is plentiful on the street and nearby parking lots. Within walking distance of other bars and restaurants. Up and coming area. I can't recommend the Oak & Olive enough and I can't wait to go back.

Mine was a crème brûlée one, which was divine, but they all sounded delicious! We also ordered the fig & pear pizza to share. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the flavors worked really well together! I'm hoping I can come here with my husband soon.

Eight years worth of Fairmount moments later, this review is well overdue. AMBIANCE: The ambiance allows you to slow down and enjoy your company. The restaurant is dim lit, has fireplaces, and loungey atmosphere. It somehow feels warm and I heard a lot of people refer to it as a second home (people are always so friendly here!). There is ample space - three bars, main dining space, and huge outdoor oasis bar. Nestled in Cedar Fairmount neighborhood, you'll also be able to enjoy historic neighborhood. There are seating arrangements if you're craving company or want to enjoy your date. Seating options include couches by the fireplace, tables, and high tops. Fairmount is delightful during every season. During the summer you can enjoy the bar and patio. In the winter you can dine at the igloos. I prefer all seasons here. FOOD/DRINKS: The menu at Fairmount is impressive and has exciting seasonal/weekly additions. You'll never get bored. The cocktails here are refined, very boozy, and very well crafted. The food is seriously delicious, and consistent every single time. I've been impressed with every dish. The dishes and drinks frequently follow the seasons. During my latest visit I enjoyed Butter Pecan Warm Cider with bourbon ($12, so bold and boozy, tastes like fall). I also ordered Fig Trouble Little China ($15, a more rich version of Old Fashioned, so delicious). I also tasted Short Rib & Risotto for the very first time ($28, such a delicious dish, every bite was just amazing). My favorites? Ah, so hard! I'll go with the Fairmount Burger! It's angus beef burger with bacon-fig chutney. It's so delicious! I can't even be serious about meat at the other burger places, this is easily the best burger in the city. My seasonal favorite? Kevin McCallister seasonal drink that resembles coquito or eggnog. The drink is topped with rice paper that includes the design of Kevin from Home Alone. It's such a fun tradition! I look forward to this drink all year and always tell the world about it! SERVICE: The service is excellent. I haven't been anywhere where service is right on point every single time. Everyone is nice - the owner, hosts, and waitstaff. You truly feel seen and like the most important guest. I've visited previously while on dates and frequently dine here solo, always had the most pleasant service. EVENTS: Many people book events here for their non-profits or companies. As far as individual events, Fairmount hosts a fun NYE party every year! PARKING: Onsite parking lot is available at the back of the building. You can enter through the front doors on Cedar or right through the parking lot door. There are numerous reasons why I love the Fairmount. I consider it to be the best dining experience in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. I also love how the owner Jake is very engaged in the community and is incredibly friendly with the surrounding business owners. I'll choose this place again and again for calming ambiance, crafted cocktails, and delicious food. To many more years of Fairmount and at Fairmount!
