Avo never disappoints! The service is great, I love the atmosphere, and it's the perfect dinner spot. The dip trio is my favorite thing to order - the chorizo queso, goat cheese guac and street corn salsa. I got the OC bowl this time and it was very refreshing! My favorite thing is the rim options they have for the margaritas - citrus floral is the best!

My husband and I stopped here during the week for lunch after some appointments. The vibe in the restaurant is so fun definitely a modern Mexican vibe. Our server was very friendly and answered all the questions we had about the menu and food! We ordered a variety of different tacos (Bbq Pork, Mahi Mahi, and Barbaco Birria) and some fried plantain (Maduros). The flavors of the tacos and the plantains were wonderful and the topping on the tacos were nice servings! We came here for the Gluten free options, they are marked clear on the menu and they have dedicated fryers for chips and such. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Ambiance was very cool inside. Bar was right in the middle and was a modern design place. Chairs were very comfortable and nice. Service was all fantastic. We had someone even in training and everything went well Food was all very good also. Would recommend to anyone to go

My family and I visited Avo for an early lunch on Wednesday, and we had such a great experience at this lovely eatery. The table that we were seated at was family style which accommodated our larger group. Everyone at the table tried different things, so I got the chance to taste test and everything was appetizing, including my own food! I ordered the birria style taco and the lobster taco. The lobster taco was definitely a standout for me! The grilled corn paired with the lobster alone had me sold. This unique combination of seafood on a corn shell with a flavorful aioli was absolutely delicious! Service was slow from time to time, but overall we had a great experience.

Well it is time for some good fresh tating Mexi... We started with the cool mango habanero and lime chips and when I say it was fresh, it Was!!! Birria shredded chicken taco was served hot with melted, crusty cheese. The consumme was amazingly good! I even finished the broth goodness with my chips . Chorizo potato cilantro taco was full of chorizo with crispy lil taters...yum oh yum! Habanero margaritas with citrus jalapeño rim rim rim was so good, I had two! Tequila old fashion was okay... too sweet but I an order something else next time. Over all, good dinner with great Server, Sophia!

This place was so good. The ambiance, service and food were all top notch. The portions are very generous and we had to take most to go and finish later. The decor of the restaurant is also very nice.

**BRUNCH REVIEW*** Our favorite brunch spot in Ohio City is Avo...have been twice and it never disappoints. The breakfast burrito is huge, easily four meals' worth. It's smothered in rich chorizo queso and so rich yet perfect hangover cure. The shrimp and grits were insaneeee. But the 10/10 bite has to be the maple pork. They serve it with a perfectly cooked egg and a touch of mint...it's a well-rounded dish that manages to be both sophisticated and comforting. The atmosphere is classic, casual Mexican, and the service was quick and friendly.

House Margarita + two incredible apps (queso and guac)

We went here for dinner on a Saturday & we fell in love! The food was incredible. Appetizers were show stopping. Special shout out to the queso with chorizo. It was a Saturday night downtown, so I always expect that anywhere we go service won't be super quick. However, they brought everything out quickly and service was stellar. As you can see by the photos, the vibes of the place were super fun! I love the high top stools that they have. Some places have very uncomfortable high top stools, but these felt like real chairs.

Food was delicious here!! Service was also really spot on - great recommendations from our server who was very friendly and had everything out quickly. I've been once before but forgot how good it was. So glad we popped in. The fundido with corn and jalapeño was amazing - highly recommend getting it to start, generous portion too! Guacamole was also fabulous. My tacos were equally delicious, so glad I tried one of the specials (Nashville hot chicken) it was super flavorful! My husbands burrito was massive as you can see - delicious and easily a whole separate meal for tomorrow. The drinks were beautiful and freshly made. Def going to return with friends. Highly recommend this spot if you want really delicious food and good vibes.

I was so impressed with the Colorado burrito the first time that I had to order it to go. Unfortunately, I wasn't given any utensils or napkins. And the sauce and burrito toppings were significantly different and lacking which was a disappointment. It would be ideal for to go orders to be the same or very similar to what is ordered in house.

As always, this place never lets you down. Great serve, the food and drinks are incredible.

Birria tacos

While the server was extremely nice, it was so hard to flag them down. We had been waiting to order for a while and we could see the waiter chatting by the bar, but we had the hardest time trying to catch his eye. We even tried to put our menus to the side to indicate that we were done looking but we still had to wait a hot minute. The chips and salsa were good. We got the pineapple salsa, thinking it would be sweeter. But it was actually took more of the sourness of pineapple so it wasn't my favorite. The arepas were beautiful and very tasty with all of the different toppings. But the arepas themselves were so greasy that I couldn't eat too much of it. And the birria tacos were delicious, no complaints there!

Now this place is a quintessential representation of the term "hidden gem" if I do say so myself…read more It's tucked away in a corner of Tremont on an unassuming street with an all black exterior sitting between apartments and ordinary homes in the neighborhood. It definitely gives off a mysterious vibe, kinda gets you curious as to what's inside. The moment you open the door there's splashes or color in every corner, a sexy marble bar with under lighting, a neon sign lighting up the phrase "forget me not," and as you weave your way through towards the back patio, each room greets you with a fun surprise of unique decor. Butterfly wallpaper, funky art, feather boas, and more. It honestly felt like we weren't in Cleveland anymore. As for the service, our bartender was awesome. He asked if it was our first time in and since it was, he explained the menu in detail and gave us suggestions based on what we tend to like. My friend went with a custom mocktail and I landed on the calla lily cocktail. It came with Watershed gin, lemon bitters, a sparkling white wine, and a few other ingredients I'm not privy to. It was strong, but smooth. It definitely left me curious to try more of the menu but alas, I don't live in Cleveland, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to return. This is 100% a place to take a date if you're wanting to impress, a spot to grab a drink with a small group of friends, or a cool bar to explore if you're visiting from out of town and enjoy a wonderful craft cocktail. I know they are fairly new and I have no doubt that they'll be sticking around.

The space is pretty cozy and intimate, which was especially felt as I came in on a cold, snowy December day. You can choose a drink based on a desired flavor profile and base alcohol. The bartender was super nice and helpful. I wanted to get a mocktail, they had a few on the menu to choose from, but the bartender ended up making me something. The space is small and cozy up front, but they also have another area in the back for a small group. They also seem to have a really nice patio. I'm looking forward to returning in warmer weather to check that out.

CLE's best kept secret!…read more A few of my friends raved about Smoke & Mirrors, so I finally checked it out. I stopped in during Stargazers Ball hosted by YoreCraeft Productions. It was a fun cosmic costume party at Smoke & Mirrors. Smoke & Mirrors delivers on their promise, there are mirror accents and intermittent smoke. They also have a lot of silver accents that have a cool juxtaposition with the cave look. You can find this nightclub underground at Clandestina on West 25th. Enter the club by going through mezcalería (Clandestina) and going downstairs. The club calls themselves "subterranean catacomb club." I'd describe it as a nightclub giving off speakeasy vibes with some exposed brick, cave vibes, and sultry red illumination. It's a very mysterious dungeon looking club. It's raw and unusual for the local nightclub scene in the very best of ways. The coolest space in this club is the once upon a time coal room that serves as a little private nook to sip your cocktails. The rest of the club has one dance floor, some comfy seats against the wall, and a small bar. It's very intimate. The club is mostly known for its EDM DJs. Don't expect big names but expect good music. You can find their lineup on their IG @smokeandmirrorscle. They're open on Thursdays for karaoke, and Saturdays for DJ and dancing. The party that I attended had a lot of dancing and good vibes. The club seems to have a cover charge, but the amount is not shared on their socials. The menu consists of cocktails, craft beer, and wine, which is a generous selection for a night club. There were some themed cocktails during my visit ranging from $8-$14. I certainly plan to stop by during a regular weekend night to check out the full experience and DJ's. You should too. If you drop in, stop Clandestina bathroom for a selfie with flattering light. Can't wait for my next visit!

Your destination for dancing all night!…read more Bird of Paradise is a nightclub/cocktail lounge in the basement of the Bright Side on W 25th. I visited this establishment multiple times with my latest visit being last night. I listened and danced to DJ King DOM. You can find the entrance to the Bird of Paradise by entering the Bright Side, following the pink arrow and going downstairs to the club. You'll enter a dim space that's giving tropical vacay and bird vibes. Think a bit of tropical wallpaper, neon accents, and feathered lamp shades. There are a few VIP areas to lounge in with vibrant velvet furniture. Most guests stand with overwhelming majority dancing and mingling. It's actually the most dancing I've seen at any local clubs. The club attracts really social and well-intentioned crowd. I met a lot of cool people during my visits here. Events at Bird of Paradise can be easily found on their IG @birdofparadiseohiocity. Don't expect to see any big DJ names, but the music is always good. They are open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday only. Cover charge varies, usually $5-10, credit card only. They don't really state the cover charge on their socials or website, so it's always hard to tell what it will be. Dress code is very relaxed, most people arrive in casual attire. Drinks include a big selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. You can find most of their menu on their website. The bar is always very busy at all times. Personally, I found cocktails to be okay. I haven't found any cocktails at the Bird of Paradise that I was crazy about. At the same time, I love cocktails at the Bright Side. Service here is unfortunately very transactional. There's no warmth coming from anyone working here - door staff, bouncers or bartenders. That's really my only criticism of this establishment. Staff at the Bright Side is considerably more friendly and social. I wish that the experience would be consistent upstairs and downstairs. Overall, if you feel like dancing, head to the Bird of Paradise. You'll find a dance partner, everyone is always dancing. Check their Instagram for the latest events.
