I used to come here for years! We decided to try it again after so long and since they moved to their new location. The quality of food has really gone down. Most items we ordered were bland and tasted nothing like we used to get. It was disappointing since we came to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was pretty empty the day we went. We were seated in a back corner. They give complimentary chips & salsa. For the birthday they put a sombrero on and staff comes to sing while you enjoy complimentary chips with whipped cream on them. Staff were friendly, but the food quality was the issue. I don't know what happened but it did not taste like it used to. Even the chips they give didn't feel fresh. I guess this restaurant has changed it cook. My friend and I went there for dinner last night and the waitress was less than helpful. I questioned her about one dish and she barely listened and gave me a half baked answer. My chimichanga had no sauce and although lots of meat, it was tasteless....no sauce. My friend ended up putting the salsa for the chips on top of hers. We have patronized this place for a long time but the service and food has declined. We won't go back! read more

This is my family's favorite restaurant on the Wiest side of Cleveland. I've never had a bad experience at this place. Ever. I got the Charley's burger here today and it was excellent. We have eaten at Nuevo many times. Although not recently. We took a chance on getting a table on Friday, right at dinner time. I was happily surprised that there was no waiting. Was also surprised to be told to just pick a sit anywhere. We order drinks and dinner. My husband had a margarita and. I had homemade sangria. The sangria was super sweet and lacking any sign of fruit at all. Our dinners came very promptly. We both ordered Seafood Chimichangas. They were just mediocre. Seemed lacking in much seafood. Several bites were just dough and cheese. I finished neither my drink or my entree. Something has changed in This restaurant. They used to be the best. Now, I doubt we will return. I tend to forget to snap a pic, but honestly there's food you look at, and then there's food you eat. We ate all of it. Oh also, they bring out salsa and chips. I have never had a bad or cold meal here- The biggest downside is the table side guac though delicious is a bit overpriced in my opinion along with the queso. Stopped in for a quick lunch today and we were in and out in less than 20 minutes. I had an amazing chicken taco salad! I ordered it without the shell and added sour cream and guacamole. The chicken was delicious, whole pieces of chicken breast, perfectly cooked, with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Food is okay, standard mexican fare. Service is OK. My issue with this place is the absolutely unhinged pricing. $17 for a bowl of soup!?? $20 for flautas?! $19 for tacos pastor??? It is insane lol. Disappointing... the potato chimichanga was soggy, soaked in tomato sauce, not crispy like others I got at Mexican 'rants like Luchita's, now closed. Would not get it again. Margarita was very strong, had to give half of it to my brother. Salsa was so so. On the other hand, service was quick, and pleasant, and our server replaced the whole beans with refried, as I wanted with no problem. The ambiance is very nice. Whoa, it's kind of weird that I did not like this place. Usually Mexican restaurants are always unoffensive to me because they all taste the same. This place missed the mark though. When I first arrived I thought this place might be better than the rest because the salsa they served was clearly fresh. Like, if they take time to make their own salsa that's a good omen. That's pretty much where my good impression stop though. I personally had the shrimp ceviche and nachos Acapulco. As you can see in the photo, the ceviche was just a bunch of cheap little shrimp. Why? Maybe to save money? Or maybe to assure the acidic juices cook the shrimp thoroughly? Who knows, I don't work here. Before I even got started on the nachos they were soggy. Soggy chips after a bit is to be expected, but immediately? Come on. Were they sitting in cheese goo waiting to be served? Yeah so.... I'm gunna skip this place as an option in the future personally. This is #5 on the top 20 Best Mexican Restaurants in Cleveland proper-and no issue giving them 5 stars. Friendly folks here. They must enjoy where they work because it sure shows. The hostess even made sure to say Thank you and good-bye - come again. This was a 45 minute hike from our home and worth the trip. Place was packed. I also saw what I believe was a lot of regulars since they greeted the staff as they came in. I had the Chicken Carnitas. Never had anything other than pork. Their chicken was hearty and very tender. The green spicy salsa. The bad. You cannot get single or double pork carnitas tacos. Our waiter said they were pre-portioned for only 4 taco orders, although when looking at the menu the tacos al carbon has pork carnitas for 3 tacos... sooo why can't two be made? Extremely disappointing, but we didn't want to argue with the waiter so we went with an additional 2 pork tacos expecting something similar. Not so, these were bad. 2/5. Not recommended. The carne asada burrito was disappointing. 2.5/5. It was basically just onions, maybe 2 ounces of steak. The steak was good, but greasy. The rice was also underwhelming, a very bland tomato taste. The cheese crispy was not crispy. The red salsa was also plain tasting. All in all not as good as we were hoping. The price was pretty high as well so making a return trip based on previous dinners is a difficult decision. read more
