I passed this place numerous times. I finally made it in. Beautiful decor, friendly service and a menu with plenty to choice from. The salsa was some of the best I've had. Thick and well seasoned. Our entree was decent. I had to add salt and pepper for flavor, but other than that we enjoyed our meal. They have specials every day which are all good deals. Walked in at 12:05... on a Tuesday for lunch --not a whole lot of people in here PROBABLY because the parking lot and only entrance to this restaurant is way away from all the others and they don't conjoin with anybody else. I visited three different restaurant lots and the hotel before I could find the entrance to this place. Skipped outdoor patio dining, not my jam-EVER. I walked in and was asked how many --disappointed look on hostess' face because I said one. I guess they don't cater much to onesies. I was seated in a booth and given a menu and sat nearly 5 minutes and was considering walking out. During that time a group of four seated right next to me and as I said before, I guess they don't care for onesies because that table of four greeted instantly by a server and asked for their drinks and taking their order before I ever saw a human. Second thoughts to just walk out Miraculously someone did show up for me to bring me nachos/ salsa and ask my drink needs. We are off to a reeaally bad start !!!!! The servers appear to be mostly Hispanic and the decor just meh. there are large wagon wheels everywhere and I don't know what wagon wheels have to do with Español and there are large hanging TVs every 6 to 8 feet making it very much a sports bar not a Mexican restaurant. The decor is not very authentic Hispania ---if you want authentic, you need to go to Condado's--- the colors aren't even bright and vibrant like the Hispanic community would have---mostly black and white. They could also tone down the music. It's so loud most of the patrons that have arrived are shouting over the music to be heard and unfortunately, I can hear them just fine. OK, my arroz con Pollo, which you can see a picture of below showed up in record time. The plate was hot, the food was nicely temperatured. The arroz con Pollo is served with soft tortillas. I don't know why --I've never had it that way before and the chicken is over top well cooked rice that is laced with a heavy cheese sauce and I've never had cheese sauce over rice either and this dish was my only choice at ChiChis many years ago if you guys remember ChiChis s. It was presented well and I'm about halfway through and it's very tasty so they get five stars for food. The rest? Not so much. In closing I guess it depends on what you're coming here for-- I come for authentic, ambience, and service before the food since I dine out 5-6 times a week. Am looking for a 'package'. El Palenque was A-okay. We had just flown into the airport to visit family and needed somewhere close for lunch. I got the fajita lunch special with steak. The quality of the steak was not great and I wasn't crazy about the seasoning. My stepdaughter got some chicken tacos, but said no after one bite. We tasted the tacos and they were very salty. My husband got a grilled chicken dish, which was the best out of the bunch. The rice & beans were yummy. Management was very friendly and accommodating about the salty tacos. I thought this was a solid meal! I am very set in my ways when I go to a Mexican restaurant. I always get enchiladas Rojas. This time was a good visit, some of my party got margaritas, we also got a queso to share. Something interesting about the queso was that they didn't have plain queso on the menu, they only had queso fundido with chorizo, so if that's what you prefer, you can still order it. Would definitely go back to the Tiedeman location, I know they have other locations in the area so I would have to try those before recommending. We have been here twice now. Both times the wait was immediate or under 5min. The staff is very friendly and prompt. First visit- we got the street corn appetizer and tamale. It was ok. The corn had good flavor and could be shareable, if need be. I cut mine easily off the cob to share. They came with a lime wedge to squeeze on. The tamale was typical, good flavor and consistency. For the mains I got the Chimichanga (plus is discounted on Friday's to under $10). You get two, one beef and one chicken. My preference was the chicken, I did not care for the beef one. It is a very small minced beef and had good flavor, I did not like the consistency feel of the tortilla/beef/sogginess from steam and cheese. Their rice is really well flavored! Second visit *pictured*- I ordered the ACP and was very surprised at how tender and flavorful the chicken was. Great portion size and served with tortillas. My husband got the la oaxaqueña, which was amazing! It was served like fajitas, arrived screaming hot and smoking. The flavor has a nice char and the meat was so tender. He definitely has found a new favorite! Served with another dish of rice and charro beans. The beans had a smooth base and chunky with beans, pork bacon, fat and almost like Vienna sausage cut up. I have been here before and the food was good, but I didn't care for the food this time. They do have good guacamole though. Our waitress was nice and restaurant seemed clean. We stayed at a hotel in the same parking lot as this restaurant. It was easy just to walk over. The place was busy but they sat us quickly. Brought us chips and salsa and took our drink order. Food didn't take too long to arrive. My daughter liked her seafood burrito and her man was happy with his. My carnitas unfortunately was dry and hard on the outside. They have a couple great murals inside. Don't see myself in that area again but I would try one more time with a different selection. read more

Pretty good! It got packed as soon as we sat down. Just a constant stream of people coming in. It was a little loud but nearly every seat was taken! The food was good for the price. We got Chile con queso, Guacamole, Burrito Azteca and El Palenque tacos. The tacos were good besides the steak one, just too overcooked and too much gristle. The burrito was decent but on the menu doesn't state that sour cream is on the inside. The ranchero also wasn't on the burrito unfortunately. Really cool looking interior restaurant/bar. Went there for $.99 tacos on Monday (yes Monday, not Tuesday). Beef crunchy tacos were very good and then the chicken soft tacos were some of the best I've EVER had! They were packed full, hot with juicy chicken (got the standard lettuce and cheese on top). AND they were $.99 each!!!! AMAZING! We will be back both on Mondays for tacos and other days as well. Excellent service topped it all off. I decided to try this new restaurant based off a friend's recommendation. Saturday evening around 7pm, 6/13/26, my order was a Call in, personal that answered the phone was excellent. When I arrived to pickup my two orders. The female hostess at the desk looked at me several times , did not acknowledge, no hello, no assistance was offered at all. The hostess walks away from the front desk then returns she looks at me directly and still does not offer any assistance. There was another gentleman at another counter adjacent to where the hostess was stationed, I go over to him and he immediately greets me with a smile and proceeds to assist me. I ordered fish tacos with rice and a super burrito plus a tip $41 . The food was very good. Came here with my fiancé for a pretty early dinner. Thankfully, we were able to get a table quickly. We started off with queso and they also brought out complementary salsa. Found this super cute authentic Mexican restaurant and struck gold! We had the queso blanco and salsa dip, margaritas, and soft tacos. The Margaritas were amazing! Got our order wrong but that's not why I'm writing a review. Their entire restaurant smelled like someone dumped cheap cologne everywhere they said it was their air freshener. Please understand people want to smell your food not toxic perfume! It was awful so strong smelled it before I even opened the door I could barely stand in there waiting to pick up our order thought I would suffocate. Surprisingly great! I was headed to Cracker Barrel for a mediocre meal on the way to the airport when I spotted El Palenque. The large parking lot was mostly empty on a Saturday at noon, I jumped on yelp to check it out and it looked to be worth a try. Glad I did. I was seated immediately and greeted by multiple staff members. They brought chips and salsa quickly and were prepared with a recommendation when I asked about drink specials. The chips are good and the salsa is authentic. I ordered the steak lunch fajitas, a great value at $10. The house margarita isn't amazing, but not bad. Atmosphere is fun and clean. I may have to make this my routine stop when in Cleveland. Grateful to have found a good spot with friendly staff. I will definitely be back. read more

I had dinner here with a group on 11/7/23 and it was amazing! Carlos was such an outstanding server and he took the time to explain the menu and made suggestions on what he'd think we would like. He explained they don't use any sour mix and all the drinks use fresh citrus juices, which is OUTSTANDING! I ordered the Cantaritos, which everyone should try if they can have lime, orange, and grapefruit juices because it's delicious (and beautiful). I also had the street tacos and they were awesome. I bought chicken fajitas and queso and I've never been so sick in my entire life. The food was bland meat tough and having the food violently exiting my body from both ends simultaneously is for me irredeemable. I was sweating profusely, I didn't have the presence of mind to take my temp but did have to remove my clothing and do cold compresses to try for a bit of relief. I at one point imagined I'd be found dead, nude, having died choked to death in a pile of my own waste. I cannot stress enough the violence of the illness. My friend suggested El Palenque as she is frequent customer. We decided since it was Tuesday...we'd get tacos. We actually decided on taco salads. Ordered 2 taco salads and 3 tacos. Got back to work...Only 1 taco salad and the tacos. Called and spoke with the manager (at least that's what I was told). He said to come back up and pick up the other one. Well in the meantime my boss brought her taco salad to me and it was waterlogged. Like, the bottom of the shell was soaked along with the meat, lettuce, cheese and tomato. I took that one back as well. Gave me the taco salad they forgot and a new one for the soggy one. Well, remember the tacos? They were a hot mess....and not in the good way. Back to office, BOTH salads are soggy and look like cat food, for lack of a better description. We called and asked to speak to the manager. We explained the situation. The manager was speaking and we could not understand a word he said. Then he hung up. You know with the way the economy is it is SO frustrating to treat yourself once in a while and it turns out to be a disappointing disaster. Look at the pictures. See for yourself. I am not sure why the low ratings. my husband and I have been going to El Palenque since the second day it opened. We have never had a bad meal, the wait staff is very friendly and helpful! The owner is great too. Our grown grandchildren love it too! The ambiance is fun and exciting. We always sit in the bar either at the high top or booth. Our granddaughter is on the spectrum, her quirks when there bothers nobody, staff included. Margaritas are out of this world, I will never order one anywhere else, unless in my home Ok, as for the food, Amazing! Fresh, made to order, portions are always more than what we can eat. Our go to menu's items are, cheese dip, any kind, of course the chips and salsa, Fajitas, any chicken dish, burritos, tacos, etc. All the food is great!!! Soup, mmm good. Went on a Wednesday night, so it wasn't very busy, but the service was extremely slow and we felt ignored at our table. We were only a table of two, who ordered an appetizer and a couple meals, but we were there for an extended amount of time. At least an hour and a half, but most of that time was waiting for someone to come around to check on us or take our order in the start. Our server was also bartending, so I understood he was busy, but then why not have another server check in on us? He came out from behind the bar a couple times and still didn't check on us. We have both worked food service and were astonished. Another server came by checking on tables and when I went to flag her down she turned and sped by. I don't see the service being this poor as justified, as they were not extremely busy and I was kind and tipped despite everything. Our food came out pretty fast, which was the better part. It didn't taste terrible, but the actual service lacked attentiveness and any sense of sincerity. I love Mexican food and am always a fan of Mexican restaurants, it's one of my friends and I's favorite go-tos, so I was disappointed in this outcome. read more

The server was our bar tender and he was busy the entire time, idk why they had him as a server, it took 10 minutes for him to come over to get drinks, another 20 minutes after we asked to keep looking at the menu, then the food came decently fast? But the food wasn't even that good, and then he never came back to check on us? We had to flag over other people to get boxes and the check. I wouldn't ever come back. I would've understood if it was busy but it wasn't. I saw at least 3 other tables who came in after us leave before us. I just feel completely ignored. Other servers also just kinda ignored us as well. We almost wanted to walk out and even see if anyone would stop us. I think we got here around 7:15pm and left around 8:40pm, again maybe like 6 other tables with people. Only good thing was the queso, the second time we got chips they tasted stale.
