Grew up in the area and this was my favorite place to go with my family for Tex Mex when I was a kid. Moved away from Cleveland, first time back in 10+ years to Maya and it's still the same and just as good. I've been here a lot, but first time positing a review. Although the food and service has ALWAYS been good, it's hard for me to separate many of the Mexican restaurants in the area from each other. Most have the same look and feel inside, and most have a very similar menu, and if you put three of the same dishes in front of me - each coming from different restaurants - I wouldn't be able to tell which one made what. I really need someone to please explain how in the world this place is a 4 star... I got the beef quesadilla. The plate came with a side of rice, lettuce tomato and guacamole. Let me tell you guys... the rice had no flavor and the side lettuce was wilted. Nothing on this plate was fresh and did not look or taste appetizing. The beef quesadilla was seriously nasty. It was how do you say it not the crispy and crunchy you know how is the blend? It was a quesadilla soggy .. and I mean super soggy. The service was none existent.. from the second the waiter put the plate on the table til the time we left... I had to flag him down to get my bill. Buyer beware! This restaurant will try to charge you for every little thing. I ordered a veggie fajita that was supposed to come with guacamole but came with literally one spoonful so I mentioned something to the server and I got charged almost 7 dollars for guacamole! I ordered nachos and cheese. There was no cheese so I got charged for cheese! My meal came with one spoonful of beans so I said where are the beans? I got charged for beans! Nice, clean establishment with big portions of all the typical Mexican cuisine. The chips and salsa were just right, and I like to add the different hot sauces they offer at the table. I was happy to see they had the Jarritos on the menu, so I got the Tamarind flavor. The chips and salsa came to the table immediately. The chips were warm and salsa was delicious! My husband ordered the burrito supreme, it was huge! But he really liked it. Lots of meat and rice and beans inside. I ordered a La carte so I got a pork tamale. Food is good here. Nice atmosphere. But, prices were just raised $5 between visits on our usual order...that we had the last three weeks for lunch. $32 with tip three weeks ago and two weeks ago for lunch. Earlier this week it was $37 and change. $5 increase is just insane!! We stopped going here for a long while because we found another Mexican place that we liked about the same distance away. And because a year or so ago they started saying they were going to charge for a second basket of chips?? They changed that after outcry and a lot of customers leaving. So...after the prices get raised that much....we probably won't ever be back. Almost $40 for the two of us for items that are in the lower end of the price scale and no alcohol for lunch....its just too much! read more

Me and the girls went for Taco Tuesday and oddly there were no food specials.... We sat in the bar area and were treated promptly. Everyone got something different and there were no complaints. Great place! I guess they are related to Cozumel in Brunswick, which instantly made me feel confident that the food coming out will be great, which it was. Had the chicken and shrimp fajita. Fantastic, though there could have been more peppers. Margaritas by the pitcher were also super tasty, which I expected. If you don't feel like driving to Cozumel, this is a perfect alternative. Went for dinner on a Saturday evening, it was very busy but only had a wait time if about 15 min. Host was very friendly. Our server was Romeo, he was very accommodating to the menu requests, and gave great service. We ordered: Chicken nuggets and fries: nuggets were a bit over cooked but the fries were really good Burrito supreme: very flavorful, the steak tips on top were really good and tender Chicken tacos: a good amount of chicken, but lacking flavor Vallarta special: 1 chicken flauta and 1 beef chimichanga, both tasty, but the beef was definitely more flavorful than the chicken, which was a bit bland. Meals can't with rice and beans, the rice was bland, but the refried beans were really good. Also enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa. Overall, it was a good meal of what I'd expect from Cleveland Mexican food. If I have a craving for Mexican I'd come here again. We took home SO MUCH FOOD and it only came out to $35 How incredible! Everything was packed well, nice presentation, and good flavor. It's your run of the mill Tex-Mex fare, so basically what you'd expect from any place. Nice flavors, nice portions, good value. I loved the soup and that it came with torilla strips, cheese, and avocado to top it. Very nice touch! They also followed my request of less oil in the fajitas. The bar area is also nice although not a huge actual bar. As a creature of habit I don't often stray from my favorite menu choices so I can't offer comments on a huge a huge variety of the menu, but know that there are chips and salsa as soon as you sit down and delicious margaritas.
