The bartender took our gift card without saying anything about how it worked and walked away. We finished our drinks, planning to get a second round, and asked how much was left on the gift card. That's when we were told gift cards are apparently a one-time transaction, meaning whatever you don't use during that transaction is forfeited. This was never communicated to us when we handed over the card. We ordered a second round anyway and asked another bartender about the policy, who confirmed the same thing. When the original bartender overheard us asking, she chimed in with, "I bought them their next two drinks, so really it evens out." While I appreciate that, I think the bigger issue is the lack of communication upfront. Had we known, we obviously would have ordered enough to use the full $25 in the first transaction. Not writing this to discourage anyone from going, but just a heads-up that if you have a gift card here, make sure your order meets or exceeds the full amount before handing it over, because apparently you don't get to use whatever is left!
