I went here for the first time recently with friends. The best aspect of this restaurant is the dark and moody atmosphere! It's a place to come for initial drinks on date night. There were a few intimate nooks for chatting and possibly even some canoodling :) The service was fair. The tacos ordered by several members of our party, including me, were way too hot to even eat entirely. The chips and Elotes dip were okay but far from excellent. I enjoyed the nachos best when compared to the other food items ordered/shared. I had wine but my friends who ordered cocktails were pleased.

This had a great vibe as soon as I walked in and although it was very much adult, the bartender was very accommodating to my toddler and I by introducing us to the semi private rear seating area/alcove. I ordered the tlayudas (Mexican "pizza") or memela (blue corn cake), which I no longer see on the menu but hope they can still make them because they were the best! It's an excellent restaurant for vegetarian/vegan options. Everything had a healthy, light, but filling taste to it. The downstairs of the establishment is another full bar and gives more club vibe as the evening goes into the night. I think this would be a great place to go for a date, or just hanging with friends or coworkers. Def a great after work spot.

Fun, moody Oaxacan themed bar on W 25th. In line with its namesake, not everyone has heard of Clandestina yet and you'll likely be able to get a spot in the small dining room if you come with just one or two other people. For larger groups, would recommend going earlier to guarantee a table as there are no reservations. The high top tables are a little awkward in terms of height relative to the chairs, but the dark lighting, candles, and huge backlit mirrors behind the bar give you a fair amount to be distracted by. I would go mainly for the tequila and mezcal-driven cocktails, which were well-balanced and perfect for fans of the agave-based liquor. Or, test your palate against many of the other beers, wines, and non-alcoholic drinks. To pair with your drinks, Clandestina offers a limited food menu. The Tlayuda was a pleasantly tasty combo of crispy tortilla, grilled adobo chicken, and condiments, but the Tamales and Burrito were just okay, with the tamales being fairly bland without the accompanying mole, and the carnitas also lacking the juicy richness I would expect. Overall though, for the seductive atmosphere and reasonable prices, I wouldn't be mad sharing some street food with the next person I come here drinking with.

    Chicken burrito- absolutely delicious!

Quaint, tasty, friendly, no Mariachi music. What more could you want! Came in early evening on Saturday. About a dozen other patrons in the restaurant, had our pick of high tops, low, booths and bar, though the place only seats about 60. The menu is pretty thin- not what you typically see at a Mexican restaurant. Almost a tapa flair to it. But what they do have is amazingly good. Started with the Carnitas pizza. It was fantastic! Also had some kind of cheesy/creamy corn salsa and chips. They were okay, but the pizza was much better. Ordered a chicken burrito and chicken tamale with spicy mole sauce for dinner. The tamale was fine, but the burrito was out of this world! Had a house margarita which was good, but not great. Should have asked if they had a top shelf option. Service was fast and friendly. With Mitchell's right next door, would come back again in a heart beat!

My husband and I stopped by here for the Yelp! Fall Crawl. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and felt that that ambiance would be perfect for a date. The dining area is on the smaller size but it's got a dark and moody vibe with enchanting lighting and big mirrors that make it seem much larger. They offer tequila and mezcal, as well as other libations and Mexican street food. We ordered the elote dip, the blue corn cake, and an order of the pork tamales. I also got a cola which is homemade. The drink was awesome. The dip was served cold. It was good but not good enough to take our extra home - I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had been warm. The corn cake was too smoky for us. We didn't finish it. The tamales were good with a homemade mole, but these could also be improved. The flavor was a bit bland and without the mole, I wouldn't have enjoyed them. I would say this is more of a great bar spot and I believe they have dancing downstairs on the weekends. The service was good and the ambiance was great.

    "Memela"

My wife and I stopped in for "memelas". I put that word in quotation marks because what they serve are NOT memelas (disclaimer: my wife was born and raised, and I lived for quite some time in Nayarit, Mexico where memelas are common). The tortilla was massive, dry (no doubt they didn't add enough water to the maseca) and overcooked. It came out looking like a burnt hamburger patty. The cheese was not melted, the beans were not cooked thoroughly, the "salsa" may very well have been ketchup judging by its appearance and taste. The onions were raw, not even sautéed and to top it off, there was not even any kind of meat, which a traditional memela has. The ambiance was cool, and the service was fast. They had an extensive tequila and mezcal selection (which we didn't try), so if you're looking for a neat spot to have a drink, this place might be for you. If you want traditional Mexican food, or even good food at all, skip this place.

Horrible service. Charged my card twice. Bartenders aren't friendly. Would not come back.

With a lot of the drinks you have the option of selecting for tequila or mezcal, which is perfect if you're particular to one over the other.

The setup has a wow factor as you enter the basement level of the building through a tunnel covered in plants and leading straight to your first photo opp! The circle with pink bench is a cute preview of what's inside. Once you check in with the hostess, enter through a door and welcome to the social club. Beautiful decor that mixes a level of sophistication with a little drama as you see the bright lights. Plenty of seating and even a private room that can be rented out. The drinks are phenomenal and the staff is friendly! The menu offers a mix of unique cocktails (and can be made as mocktail a too) and small bites. Upon recommendation, I tried the F.W. Marg drink. So good! The most unique aspect is the watermelon ice cube. As it melts the drink flavor changes. Creative & fun way to enjoy a cocktail. They open at 5pm, which would be a great spot for chill happy hour. Later in the evening, you'll experience more of a lounge/club vibe. Great edition to downtown CLE!

I'm so happy we did because Stella made sure we had a stellar time (she put the Stella in Stellar? Sorry, nerd status) and the food provided was super fresh and the staff was so attentive. We had a pretty large group all come in at once and they got us through quickly with our first round of drinks! The ambiance is intimate enough where you can step aside to a table for a nice convo or large enough to create a dancing space where we you're at... which was exactly what some of us did because the music was just too tempting. From a more organized event to a late night par-tay mentality, the subtle and eclectic vibes of Lost put you in the right head space. Highly recommend!
