This review is based on my experience during Cleveland Beer Week 2015. Dive Bar is a dive bar. I kind of expecting the worse and was pleasantly surprise. It was clean and spacious. Maybe it was an event that need tickets to be pre purchased, everything was just so organized. $20 for 4 pints and a snack. The selection was quite impressive with 30+ beers to choose from. There are 2 bar areas and we ended up hanging out at the back bar with an awesome bartender. Great service and always checked on us frequently. The patrons and the staff were all so friendly to us. This might be a different crowd compares to the normal DJ nights, but we really have a good time drinking all our beers here!

We came here on a weekend night. It was super crowded, and it was almost impossible to even get to the bar, let alone be helped to get a drink. They DJ was actually pretty good, I thought, but it was weird that no one else was really dancing! The bathrooms were small and at least 2 of the 4 stalls in the women's restroom did not lock. I definitely need to be in the mood for dive bar. It would have been much more fun if people were dancing. But, as it was, it was just really really crowded and I was getting pushed around a lot as people tried to get by. A plus was that there were a couple of police officers outside that let us pet their horses!!

What a misnomer. This is just another typical bar on W. 6th. The only thing that makes it somewhat of a dive bar is because it is in the basement level of the street. So I guess you could say that it is a dive bar because you are going down in depth and if the ground was water it would be a dive type motion. You are diving in some shallow water. I prefer swimming with peaceful creatures like manatees. W. 6th is a place to go if you like dancing, house music and epileptic seizure inducing lighting.

I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.

Off the top maybe 5-6 tables and a bar that holds 10-12 people if I was guessing. Multiple TVs playing all sports. Keno, Jukebox also available. Nice neighborhood bar. Staff were very friendly even though they were busy. As for the food, I ordered mozzarella sticks, a hot Italian sub with tater tots. The cheese sticks were bad. Tiny, lukewarm and not much flavoring. Marinara dipping sauce was bland as well. Now for the sub. Unreal Italian Sub. The tots were crispy and salted. The sub was AMAZING... repeat AMAZING. Served with Italian dressing, on a toasted roll. Banana peppers, onion, tomato, with multiple meats and cheeses. Definitely a bar favorite as I saw many people eating the same dish. It's worth a visit or a try if you're in the area. The big positive of this place was the prices. $2.50 a beer and $10 for that sub. My tab was low so that's always a good thing. I would go back to this place however it might be tough sometimes if the bar gets pizza. In the plaza it sits next to a pizza place that I was told you can order the pizza from the bar and they have a window to slide the food through. I didn't try the pizza so I won't review that place. Overall, a 7.1 out of 10 with everything included.

I would also like to say that I am very impressed by how vegan forward Cleveland is. Idk why I wasn't expecting it. I doni't even feel like I experience this shit in NY but maybe I am not going to the right places. Anyways, we sat at the bar and went to work ordering our beverages. It was early enough that I could benefit from more caffeine so I was pleased to see a coffee-esque cocktail with vodka. GF ordered the sangria. I embarrassed myself a lil by assuming the three pierogi could be mix and match which they cannot. We wanted the classic potato and cheese but also wanted to try one of the vegan ones so went with the sweet potato and black bean. I was further thrown for a loop when I was asked what sauces I want. Oh my god there are sauces to choose from?!? Did I even read the menu? The bartender threw out some options I couldn't argue with: sriracha something creamy maybe sour cream or mayo? and French onion which was intriguing. Both were SO good. The pierogi were also spectacular. They were HUGE and the filling was to die. Diamond in the rough.

The couple were talking with told us to try the help yourself area in a covered outside picnic tables. We did find an area to sit. One of the waiters wiped down the table and greeted us. The kitchen was super busy, so we were waiting a bit for our food. The makeshift gluten free Ham and Cheese was solid. The marinara sauce that came on the side was an excellent touch. I would have preferred it warm with the Ham and Cheese which was warm. It was nice to have a place to sit, but I will say that outside was having a tough time competing with the heater. It would hot, I'd take my coat off and then it got chilly. Pierogi week really makes the menu small. I would love to return and experience the whole menu and sit inside in a more stable climate. Mild issue, I was trying to connect to the wi-fi and the option on the flyer on the table wasn't available. Good not great experience here. What staff we interacted with was very helpful and nice. Appetizers and food were good. Not that I'd wish smaller crowds on a business but I feel if we could get an inside seat, we'd have a better than good experience.
