I had a great night out at this cocktail bar. High quality ingredients were used for my drinks, and it was very apparent! I sat in the back lounge area near the entertainment, and that is a total vibe! The pianist who I believe is a regular there was great. After he finished, an excellent band played. Being a huge music person, I loved that there were two different acts. This change up of music kept me really engaged! The service was top notch throughout the night! I had tons of recommendations and tended to the perfect amount! Pro tip....if you can snag a seat at the bar, it's a lot of fun watching these drinks being made. Some might even say it's an art form!

One of the top cocktail bars on my list for Cleveland! Pro tip: Make that reservation to have a more intimate experience in the secret back room! Make sure you get there about 15 min early to find street parking on Columbus, or the surrounding blocks. (Drink responsibly, obviously, and call a ride share if needed). I've been twice for late evening cocktails and the staff are so welcoming. I love the live jazz in both areas, setting such a mood. I mentioned celebrating my partner's birthday and, a few minutes later, hearing a happy birthday melody playing on the piano - it was a lovely touch! We found out another group was celebrating a birthday as well! Would recommend sitting at the bar if you're curious about a custom made drink. Everything was spot on and it was such a treat to watch them craft the drinks so expertly. The front space gets packed pretty quickly but has more of a traditional bar vibe. A bit louder and more crowded, so it's easier with a small group. The back room has a few seating arrangements where you could fit up to 6, or 8 possibly, but reservations go quickly. I'd love to come back in the warmer weather when the back patio is open. Note there is a dress code so why not use this outing as an excuse to dress up!

The drinks are incredible! Such craftsmanship goes into each one, and many unique ingredients make this place a must stop. There's not a lot of food options, but it's a great place to stop before going somewhere else. There space is pretty narrow, but has many rooms for you to sit and enjoy. When we last visited, we were treated to a lovely pianist. Service is great and you can feel the passion put into the drinks.

Cool atmosphere. Good drinks Bartenders will listen and recommend We didn't have any food because the kitchen was closed for a large party - they only have a few "heavy" snacks Cocktails are $20

This cute little speakeasy has hand muddled and specialty drinks. The ambience is super cute. They do have some small bites. Every time I've been there's been a piano player. They have a lovely backyard with a little putt putt game, outback. Check this spot out.

Velvet Tango Room is such a lovely experience every time I come. It has a very intimate, jazz, speakeasy vibe going on. But, no matter how many people are packed into this bar, they make you feel like the only people there. Very attentive, helpful, & friendly! The cocktail menu (or should I say book) is very large, so you will definitely be sure to find something you like! It is sorted by alcohol type, so it is very easy to navigate - don't be afraid to ask questions if you have any! Most of their drinks are around $14, but are worth every penny - they are handmade in front of you and are very delicious! These are some of the best cocktails I've had in Cleveland and I know if you give it a shot you're going to enjoy them too!

Stumbled into this spot around 8 on a Saturday and easily got a table but instantly watched the place fill up after that. Server was incredibly friendly and candid about the cocktails. They have alll of the best classics and some fun seasonal offerings. There was great live music and the space was cozy. There's a great lounge area with a couch that looks almost like a living room and is perfect for groups. A bit loud due to the music in the background but a great spot for a well made drink with art nouveau / art deco vibes.

Delicious! Hand-crafted gin fizz and nothing is better in the cocktail world. This is a Must for your foodie list while in Cleveland.

Ask the Community - Velvet Tango Room

I keep calling to make a reservation for tonight and cannot get through! Is there a better way? I even made a reservation in the private party section. How do I get to somebody?

Hello. We don’t take reservations over the phone. You’ll need to email reservations@velvettangoroom.com That is the only way we accept reservations is through email.

I've been trying to call for two days to make a reservation and no one has answered? Is there another number to call?

I actually placed a reservation online, and they called me back.

What an awesome place! The Vault is in the basement of the Metropolitan at the 9 Hotel above, a…read morebuilding that used to be a bank. The lounge is huge, with unique vibes in different rooms behind the various old vault doors still inside. They've highlighted the history here, with cozy lighting and plenty of little nooks and crannies to enjoy with your party. The main area is the bar. The whole place has a 1920s speakeasy vibe; the night we visited a wedding party was fully leaned into this in period attire making it extra fun. They have an okay beer list, it's more about the cocktails. Our bartender was helpful and friendly, despite a growing number of people getting complicated drinks. If you like a unique place to enjoy a nightcap, this is a must-visit in downtown Cleveland.

I visited the Vault in October 2026 to celebrate my birthday. I randomly found a dinner event on my…read morebirthday that the Vault was planning to host so I invited a few friends to attend with me. The event was called "Spooky Girl Dinner" and they handed out prizes for best-dressed Halloween costume. I won one of the 3 prizes which was a fun surprise especially because I have never previously dressed up for Halloween or celebrated the holiday. INSIDE -- I had fun viewing the old bank vaults inside which have been kept so well over the years. It is slightly dark inside but that's the ambiance that the bar is going with. The spooky girl dinner event offered a selection of food, buffet style, including chips (fries), chicken fingers, pasta, and more. I forgot to try the dessert as I was having so much fun talking with my friends and meeting new people. I hardly drink alcohol but once in a blue moon, during a special event, I may sip on a drink. A friend bought me an $19 glass of margarita which I appreciated and drank half the glass (I could not finish it). The drink that my friend bought for me was listed on their Halloween menu as "Witches Brew Margarita" ($19) which contains patron, blue curaçao, grenadine, pineapple, lime, and sparkling potion. The drinks at the Vault are extremely overpriced but I suppose that's what happens at downtown businesses. My other ordered a drink, I forgot the name of it and I tried a sip - it was sweet and better tasting than the margarita. The Vault is a small but beautiful and historic bar located inside the Metropolitan at the 9 Hotel. I'm glad that I finally got to visit the Vault. Parking is street parking only. I splurged and decided to do valet parking ($25) since it was my birthday. Try to arrive 15 mins earlier than you are planning to in case it takes time to find free street parking. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 202/250 total reviews in 2026 - 1043 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 1 November 2026
