We went here after the Christmas Story House for the perfect way to end our stay in Cleveland for a concert! The food was a pleasant surprise, absolutely delicious! Service was excellent in spite of their having to deal with a broken cooler overnight. They were so pleasant and accommodating! It has such a neighborhood vibe that if we lived near there we all decided we could be regulars here! Definitely worth the short wait after our tour, which we filled with a trip to the gift shop across the way!
I was on the hunt for pierogies on a recent trip to Cleveland and quite a few people recommended Rowley Inn. It has an old school pub vibe, complete with tight seating, but they were able to sit our party of 4 quickly. I had the kielbasa and pierogi plate which was excellent. And it's right across the street from the Christmas story house, which is a fun bonus before or after your meal.
Across the street from the A Christmas Story House is the Rowley Inn. One thing we just had to experience was great Polish food during our trip, so our friends chose this for us. They have a large menu of various pierogies and kielbasas, as well as traditional pub fare. They also have a great beer menu of the core basics and well as Cleveland/Ohio craft selections. The actual place feels like your inside an old house, with low ceilings and dim lighting. Our server was efficient and welcoming. They have a great bar area right inside the door too, and lean into their location with their own major award right inside. I ordered one of the veggie leaning pierogie dishes and loved how it was served with onions and sour cream. It was a delicious dish, which was much needed on an empty stomach. Prices are great.
A friend was visiting from out of town and this was one of the places I thought would be unique for her to visit. We shared the loco moski, paprikash sandwich, and a side of bacon wrapped tots (good option if you just want 2 and not the full appetizer). While the bacon wrapped tots are famous from Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, I actually liked the loco moski and paprikash sandwich more. The loco moski is a fun combination between a loco moco but with pierogi, and I like that the peppered gravy wasn't too rich. The paprikash sandwich was also a great combo of chicken, sausage, peppers, cheese, paprikash, on lightly crispy bread. Parking available as free street parking--though you may have to circle to find parking since it's near the Christmas House. Staff were nice and efficient. The place does feel a little tight in terms of space with less lighting, but there's still plenty of seating and what matters to me more is good food. Overall, great place to try local food. Would get the loco moski and paprikash sandwich again.
We were pretty disappointed with with this place. Maybe it was because we went on a slower , rainy evening in the middle of the week but the service we received sure didn't match the reviews we saw on Yelp. The food we finally got was pretty decent. We ordered two entrées, but it took forever to arrive and when the second one did arrive, it was wrong so we had to wait some more. The waitstaff was not very attentive or friendly. There were only two other tables there with slightly larger groups. We were a table of 3. It's loud and dim in this restaurant/ bar. Not much seating too, since it was a renovated house in the middle of a residential neighborhood, right across from The Christmas story house. We lucked out on parking prob cuz of the hour we went and the weather. But parking looked like it would be a pain during the day.
It was a rainy evening when we arrived and they were closing in a couple hours. This place is definitely a bar- but children are allowed, but it has bar atmosphere -being dark and loud. A waitress came to take her order, but she was not very friendly and then it took forever to get our food. We only got two entrées to share between the three of us because we wanted to try to see what the fuss was about at this place. What we ate was decent, but honestly nothing that stuck with us enough to say- COME HERE! We definitely didn't understand all the good reviews when our food finally came out. They didn't even come out together and our second plate was wrong when it finally arrived so it had to get redone. So the service really got to us especially since there were only 2 other tables being waited on and a couple stragglers sitting at the bar. Parking is street parking in a neighborhood! So it can be hard during the day but we lucked out that evening.
The most stuffed Rueben in town. Generous helping of meat. The service was very attentive. My favorite was the cheese wedges. A killer cheese pull !!
We discovered The Rowley Inn while touring the A Christmas Story House right across the street. We were told that many of the cast members ate here while filming the movie, which made us even more excited to give it a try. After looking over the menu, we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of both vegan and non-vegan options available. In fact, if you ask, they have a separate vegan menu with tons of choices, making it easy for everyone in our group to find something appealing. The atmosphere has that classic small-town neighborhood bar feel--casual, comfortable, and full of local charm. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick, which made the experience even better. We ordered the vegan pierogi dinner and the meatloaf dinner. The vegan cheese in the pierogies wasn't our favorite, but the dish was still very flavorful and enjoyable overall. The meatloaf dinner was a generous portion and absolutely excellent--comfort food done right. Between the welcoming atmosphere, diverse menu, and great service, The Rowley Inn was a delightful find. Whether you're visiting the Christmas Story House or just looking for a great local spot, it's definitely worth a stop. We'd happily visit again!
Serendipity. A word I learned in 6th Grade, and experienced first hand on my visit to the Rowley Inn. We were looking for a great lunch while exploring downtown and we found it. I will freely admit it doesn't look like much when you are approaching on the street but much to my surprise, we were right across from the House on the Christmas Story movie. After admiring the house, we walked in and were immediately greeted and quickly seated. In the style of a normal neighborhood tavern, the bar stretches a good portion of the left side of the front with plenty of seating in the back. Even with a good crowd, it wasn't noisy and was easy to have a conversation. The Rowley Inn has a robust menu, which led to the second surprise of the visit: The Rowley House had been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Naturally, we had to try the Bacon wrapped tater tots. Wow! Definitely a feature item. The rest of the food was served quickly and exactly as ordered. The Smokestack Lightning hamburger was great and hit the spot. The shrimp tacos and the meatloaf dinner were also hits. Final words? Don't get discouraged coming down Rowley Ave because there is a pot of gold at the end of the street. I would definitely visit again, and you wouldn't have to triple-dog dare me.
This place is a one stop shop for many Cleveland classics both original and vegan versions. My pre-trip research brought this place to my attention. I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.
The Rowley Inn never disappoints, the food is consistently good, they have a full bar and great service. They have some good local food like pierogis, kielbasa etc., awesome brunch choices, lots of vegetarian options and they have a vegan menu too. Great place to have a fun, laid back meal. Our server this last visit, Mario C was just great too, really on top of things and got everything 100% right. One of our favorite breakfast spots.
Don't go! I'm not sure why this place is as well rated as it is. Maybe people visiting the Christmas Story House are full of the holiday spirit. Parking was on the street and difficult to find. The CSH was closed otherwise it would be a nightmare. The best thing on the menu was the fried pretzel. Maybe order that as a meal. I had the steak fries with shrimp. Both steak and shrimp were so overcooked as to be inedible. The flavor of basil pesto was off putting. My friend said there meatloaf was spicy. It didn't look appealing on the plate either. Just a big brown slab of unidentified meat. Another friend said the pierogies were bland.
Another Triple D joint, another homerun meal in Cleveland! Directly across the street from "A Christmas Story" lies a perfect dive with great eats! My salmon avacado toast was phenomenal. Good sourdough, flavorful dill cream cheese, lots of avocado and salmon. It was hearty and delicious. The star of the show for me were the pickled onions and capers on the toast. Briny acid cut the richness. I got a side of apples, nuts and honey. Very good candied walnuts but (I know this picky) my apples were cut poorly, still had the tough core and seeds, but oh well. The bacon wrapped tots - which Guy Fieri raved about - were definitely worth the hype! So good and I loved the spicy sauce. Such a fantastic breakfast. Get here early. It gets busy fast, and there was a longer wait.

Made our first trip to The Rowley Inn after catching a show at Playhouse Square, and I'm already wondering why it took us this long to get here. We started with the bacon-wrapped tater tots after hearing they were one of the things you HAVE to try. Whoever decided a tater tot needed to be wrapped in bacon and deep fried deserves some recognition. Crispy, salty, ridiculously good and absolutely worth ordering. And the doing sauce was INCREDIBLE. I got the four-cheese mac & cheese and of course added bacon and loved it. My boyfriend spotted the chicken paprikash hoagie on the menu and there was pretty much zero chance he was ordering anything else after that. When it came out, we realized he probably needed an actual strategy for eating it because the thing was massive. It was loaded with chicken, peppers and onions in a really flavorful paprikash sauce. Messy? A little. Worth it? Absolutely. He finished the whole thing. Really cool neighborhood-bar atmosphere, great food and portions that definitely don't leave you hungry. Being directly across from the Christmas Story House makes the location even better. We'll definitely be back because there were way too many other things on the menu we wanted to try. read more

Met up with some friends at Rowley Inn and left with a full and happy tummy! Ordered the strawberry shortcake martini which was creamy and delicious. I got the Clevelander burger which consisted of a burger patty, kielbasa, pierogi with beer cheese and sauerkraut! It was dense but so so good! Service was quick and the atmosphere was very chill! read more
My girlfriend and I recently saw this place on an episode of DDD with Guy Fieri and it just so happened to be the place our friends invited us to for brunch yesterday. Being a warm day in March, the place was packed around 11 AM, so we had a 20 minute wait to get seated. Food was amazing (I had the no-frills pancakes with a side of sausage patties (smashed style). Our waitress made sure our water never went empty and was very friendly. Will definitely come in again to try other things on the menu! read more

A neighborhood bar that has been here for years. It used to be a dive bar years ago, but is now a very popular spot to grab something to eat and have a few drinks. They were very crowded, but by luck we didn't have to wait for a seat. It's definitely a small place and the tables are close together. Our waiter was very nice and checked on us often. The menu is not very large, but definitely some good options. The food was very good. I was pleasantly surprised, although it can be pricey. It is a very loud place, so if you want quiet, this would not be it. The only thing complaint I have was there was a very noticeable draft where we were sitting and no we were not by the front door. I would definitely like to go back to try other items on their menu. read more

Excellent food and service. Tables are very close together, so why I am bringing it down a star. It is in an old building , so I get you have to make do but just saying! Also the music was super loud for 8:25 on a Friday morning! Food- was all ever good and I might have had the best potato latke ever! Fried nice and crispy! Husband really enjoyed his schnitzel waffle breakfast sandwich. The pancake was also very good! Service was great and coffee was never empty! Would go back! read more

I was so impressed by the food here! It was recommended to me as "good bar food" but this is far from what I would call bar food! This may be a bar - but they have amazing restaurant style food. I would come here again just for the food. Although the drinks are good too. I should note that the food is definitely not priced as bar food. It's a little on the pricier side, but I can see why. I also really liked the interior. It felt cozy and comfortable. And the staff were really great. Overall rating: 4.8/5 stars read more

Awesome place with great food for cheap prices, very nice service, and a good atmosphere. The brunch menu has a ton of options that all sound very good for great prices. The mill workers breakfast was an awesome classic breakfast with perfectly cooked eggs, nice crispy bacon, good home fries, and toast. The coffee here is good too and goes perfectly with the mill workers breakfast. Super nice service and food was quick to come out, awesome place, definitely will be back. read more

The food here is just incredible! The perogis, avocado toast, hashbrowns and everything else we got was just above average than your usual restaurant. I loved the little small- town feel it gave. Will be back next time I'm in Cleveland. Only taking a star off because of the parking, no (real) iced coffee, and another reason read more

We love the food at the Rowley Inn, especially the vegan options. It allows our entire family a chance to eat breakfast out together. We always call ahead and it takes about 20 minutes to drive to the Rowley Inn. We still had a short wait upon arrival but it wasn't bad. It was Father's Day and it was very busy. We were seated in the back directly over a vent and it was very cold during our entire meal. I asked to move but was told the empty tables were for reservations and there were no moving tables. I was not aware we could make reservations. It seems they take reservations on Mother's Day and Father's Day. Now we know. We were happy with the meal. read more

Never expected the great food & friendly service here! A dive bar with personality. Hubs & I came for a quick bit for dinner. I had the perogi dinner w sauerkraut & kielbasa. I have to say, the food was excellent! Hubs had meatloaf that he also thoroughly enjoyed. Great 80s music playing, friendly bartenders, great beers & food. Can't ask for more. Service was phenomenal. Patient when busy. Kind to all. Explained specials. So good. Manhattan with Basil Hayden Rye. 10/10 We had the Diner Drive In and Dives recommended dish called Loco Moski. The pepper gravy is insane!! The pierogis were just ok. Didn't love them- almost tasted old, and I usually do love pierogis. We loved the vibe here. Lots of laughing and joyous people. Would be a 5 - except for pierogi taste. read more
We were recommended this place for breakfast and was so happy we tried it out. It's directly across from the Christmas Story house so that was cool we got to see that! Their menu is polish themed and the flavors were delicious. I ordered the Loco Moski and my fiancé ordered the Rowley Breakfast. Both were delicious and served hot. I was visiting my hometown and went here for the first time. This bar and restaurant is popular for good reason. The food is amazing, the portions are huge, and they have a great selection of local beers. It gets packed at times there was a 25 minute wait for a table when we got there so we sat at the bar instead. The staff is great. It's well worth a trip to Tremont to have a meal or a drink here. read more
We heard great reviews of this place and they were 100% correct. Located across the street from the Christmas Story house its a perfect place to stop in for food or a drink. They had a nice cocktail and beer menu but their food menu was incredible. The reuben tacos were a large portion size and very delicious. We also tried the potato pancakes and the piergos. Another really hipster but trendy bar in the Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland. This one is right across the street from the famous Christmas Story house. The food was excellent. Went on a college football Saturday and they had games on TV. Would 100% return. read more

Awesome dive bar type deal. They have amazing bacon tots and honestly every item is delicious. Service is good, but I only sat at the bar so who knows about table service. Parking also kind of sucks because it's street parking, but once you find parking it's worth it. read more
