The Harp... all I can say is WOW -- a hidden gem! I've literally lived on the west side, right down the street, and never tried The Harp. Me and my babe were riding down Route 2 talking about wanting something good and different, and he was like, "You wanna try The Harp?" I said you know what... let's do it! We always thought it was super upscale -- whole time we were wrong... but in the BEST way. The vibe is nice, cozy, and welcoming, and the service? On point. Now let's get to the FOOD. Because baby... that's what we came for I was scrolling the menu and got hype seeing vegan options (you already know that warms my heart ). I kept eyeing the vegetarian boxty -- an Irish potato pancake -- something different. I was like hmm... maybe. Then I switched it up and said nah, I'm getting the fried green tomato wrap BUT WAIT. The waiter walked past with a plate that smelled SO good it literally stopped me mid-thought. I'm like hold on... what IS that?! She said, "That's the salmon boxty." Me and my babe looked at each other like... yeahhh we both thinking the same thing He ordered the steak boxty, and I got the vegetarian boxty. Listen... 10/10. MUST TRY AGAIN. Huge portions, flavorful, and DIFFERENT in the best way. That Irish potato pancake was loaded with sautéed mushrooms, zucchini, squash, spinach, onions, and carrots, all topped with a creamy spinach sauce. Not dry, not skimpy -- just straight up delicious. And the price? I definitely appreciated that too. I thought the roast beef sandwich meat was pretty dry - maybe the Rueben would have been better. Brunch menu is good but I wish they had an omelette option . My wife and I decided to go to The Harp for an early Friday dinner. We both decided on the Fish and Chips. The fish was light and flaky and I must admit the fries were really good. At almost every restaurant the fries that come with a meal end up being soggy, mushy, and taste like they are old and stale; not here. It was refreshing to get fries that were actually crispy and tasted fresh. Adding malt vinegar to the fries and fish made it even better. Even though my wife was full, I never can leave without getting their Bread Pudding which is one of the best desserts I've had at any restaurant anywhere. I have had the harps food before and while I thought their brunch was only okay, I loved their soup and was hoping to get some today. I tried to call ahead to inquire and make an order. Seems like they are pretty busy because after 4 rings I got the voicemail. Was hoping to support small and local but that wasn't the case today. I suppose I could have stopped in. My friend always drives past this restaurant so it's been on her list for a while. It's pretty nondescript from the outside. But the inside is very much an Irish bar. Pretty family friendly and I'm sure they have a lot of regulars. The staff is very friendly too. For drinks, I got the hot toddy while my friend got an espresso martini. Strong on the alcohol! I liked my hot toddy but my friend couldn't finish her martini. For our entrees, I got the corned beef hash while my friend got a French toast sandwich. Delicious! But also very heavy! Stopped today for a long awaited visit for their fish fry. Got there probably 12:30 pm with no place to park. Main entrance closed off. Only one side of building parking available and lot full. Now why wouldn't you mention this on your website???? Honestly, I don't get restaurants sometimes. I would have come at a different time, or picked another day. Anyway, the food was delicious, although I will say I did get a simple corned beef sandwich, and chips so kinda hard to screw up. Waited FOREVER for my horseradish though. The other people I was with ordered a Rueben and 2 boxtys, everyone said their food was good Drinks were good. Atmosphere was nice. Service was a little inattentive and slow, but at least we were served - another table by us said they were waiting 20 minutes and a server (same server we had) never came over! Very nice patio - although it was a little hot so we stayed inside!! A little more on the pricey side for a lunch - would be ok for dinner. read more

I visited the Harp yesterday with three friends. It was a fabulous experience. The Ambiance is that of an upscale Irish pub with Irish artifacts displayed including pictures of The Book of Kelly. They have a full bar and had everything we wanted available, the portions were good. We tried a variety of the Boxte offerings as well as the fish and chips. All were absolutely amazing. I had hot tea. It was served in a lovely wee pot and was Barry's Irish tea, which is strong and delicious with a little cream. My friend added Bushmills Irish Whiskey and honey to hers. She said it will be one of he go to's from now on. The waitstaff were all fabulous. The place was clean and inviting. Will definitely be back. I want to try the Shepherds Pie. read more

The patio view is the best part about this restaurant. Took our three small children and sat on the patio and they had a great time, looking at cars buzzing by, airplanes and choppers flying, and ships out in the lake. The staff was very friendly and attentive. This is a really cool restaurant in a great location that everyone should try. Hard to complain about anything when you visit The Harp. The staff and ambiance are wonderful and their food is even better. As we admired the woodwork at the bar while sipping on a perfectly poured Guinness, we decided to order the Clam Chowder (I believe only served on Fridays). The chowder was one of the best I've had in the Cleveland area. Adequate proportions of clams, potatoes, and other veggies and all components were cooked well. I welcomed the extra black pepper as most chowders in the area do not add enough. 5 stars, well done. Also ordered the pierogis which were filled with potatoes and cheese and topped with garlic and sauerkraut. The amount of filling was perfect for the size of each pierogi. My only criticism would be there was too much minced garlic on top and the garlicky flavor was overpowering the flavor of the filling. Only reason I did not vote 5 stars would be for the heavy garlic topping on the pierogis as well as the music volume being way too low. When I go to an Irish restaurant/bar I would like to hear Irish music. read more

Very cute little restaurant off the beaten path. Irish aren't known for their cuisine and as expected, the menu was basic comfort food. My friend had Shepard pie and enjoyed it. Enough for two meals. I had meatloaf melt and it was also had enough for two meals. Tasty but somehow greasy. Too big for a handheld sandwich- knife and fork. Pet peeve- potato chips are not a side dish and shouldn't be offered as one even with a sandwich. No matter if they're house made or taken from a bag they are snacks. Have indoor as well as outdoor seating Came for a Rueben but was intrigued by a boxty. Basically a Rueben folded into a potato pancake. To my surprise it was delicious. Very filling. Had their fried cod here MANY times. Not cheap. Been fabulous every time. Probably the best in town. Last time I was there, it tasted like Mrs. Paul's frozen out of the box. They do a good job here with a relatively short menu of highlighting 3 culinary stories: Irish classics, Cleveland favorites and user-friendly pub cuisine. There was a great cocktail list in addition to Irish beers and drinks. Coming here it's your choice...you can go full authentic Irish with a Guinness and a boxty plate. Or you can grab a burger and a cocktail The interior highlights the best of Ireland with scenes from the book of Kells and Irish landscapes. I LOVED this place when we first moved here. Always great service and the beer cheese dip is where it's at. It WAS also my favorite turkey Ruben. Within the last few months they changed the meat from shaved turkey to icky deli meat turkey. I'm so sad. Please bring back the good turkey!! read more

I retired two years ago, just before COVID, former coworkers and I get together once a month for lunch. We spend a lot of time during these monthly lunches catching up but also trying and supporting local businesses. This month we went to The Harp. The place was hopping but the service was excellent. We were there for three hours! (We do keep an eye on the door to make sure we aren't keeping someone from a table!). The waitress just kept plying us with water and iced tea. Two of my friends got the Reuben Boxty. The other had a regular Reuben. I had the chicken Quesadilla, along with a cup of the bacon corn chowder. They all thoroughly enjoyed their food and are talking about what they will get next time! The Quesadilla was excellent, the pico is made in-house. This is on their appetizer menu, which is why I ordered the soup. I didn't need it but, I no am so glad I did! It was excellent! I'm 41% Irish and have lived in cleveland my entire life. I was today years old when I went to The Harp for the first time. How is this even possible? Oh, well. Remedied now. Anyway. The Harp has been around forever. It's located in the Gordon Square/ Ohio City area right on Detroit. They have a small parking lot which I imagine fills up quickly on weekends and St. Patrick's Day. It's one of the most popular Irish pubs in Cleveland. They offer a Sunday brunch and are closed Mondays and major holidays. On a late Tuesday afternoon, we were seated quickly. It was unseasonably warm so we chose to sit in the patio. The patio is spacious and it's nice to look out at the water and downtown. You just kind of have to ignore Cargill, a huge water tower, and the Shoreway right there, but it's fine. I wasn't super hungry so I opted for just the crab cake appetizer. I appreciated that our server, Claire, let me know that it was a smaller portion and if I were hungry then I may want to add something else to my order. Hubby got the fish and chips which surprised the heck out of me because he doesn't really like fish. Also surprising that he really liked it! The fish was nice and crispy and according to him, "not too fishy." It came with tarter sauce, fries, and cole slaw. My crab cake was delicious. I was a bit wary of the $12.50 price tag and was concerned when I was served one crab cake and some greens. I felt that it was a fair value for what I received. There was a ton of crab in the cake, and it wasn't overly battered. The lemon wedge on the plate was nice but the star of the dish was the spicy remoulade. It was absolutely delicious and I dragged bites of the crab cake and the greens through it so I could eat as much of it as I could. We really enjoyed our experience today and would go again if the opportunity presents itself. read more

Irish-theme restaurant located near Ohio City. My favorite part of the restaurant was the large outdoor patio. The view of the Shoreway was relaxing while we enjoyed our hearty meal. The Harp is Covid compliant and does a great effort at making accommodations for customers to ensure that social distancing is followed. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to ensure all guidelines can be met. If you're looking for quality comfort food then this is the place for you. Don't expect to do anything productive after eating here because you will most likely be in a food coma. I was recommended the steak boxty from our waitress and I enjoyed every bite of it. The steak boxty is a large potato pancake that is stuffed with beef tenderloin, sautéed peppers, onions, cheese and topped with a garlic, Parmesan cream sauce. read more
