Turn Bar + Kitchen is a restaurant located at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Cleveland. I visited this establishment on two occasions. To be very transparent, it was the most underwhelming Ritz experience. AMBIANCE: Luxe hotel restaurant with an innovative fireplace, ambient lighting, various seating options including comfy leather chairs and sofas. It's separated from the lobby by glass. The establishment looks romantic enough for a date and formal enough for a formal meeting. Most attendees during my visit were having drinks solo and watching sports at the bar (big screens are available). The restaurant is never crowded, there's plenty of room for private conversations. It's equally comfortable for solo diners, couples, and guests. ENTRY: The restaurant can be entered through two distinct entrances. Enter from the Tower City Center and ascend to the skylight level. Enter through the main Ritz-Carlton doors. You will arrive on the first floor lobby. Take the elevator to the sixth floor lobby, and arrive at Turn. Various parking options are available at the hotel. Use the hotel's valet at the main entrance. Park at Laz Parking in the basement level of the Tower City Center (parking reservations are available prior to the arrival). DRINKS: I tried zero proof mocktail Berry. Berry contained Lyres Italian Orange, Blackcurrant, and Fever Tree Tonic. The zero proof mocktail was priced $15. The mocktail was extremely average and underwhelming. Not much flavor and not memorable. Signature cocktails were priced at $27. That's we'll above downtown drink average. They looked pretty average, no impressive presentation or theatrics. I observed that most people were enjoying beer. SERVICE: The service was the most disappointing part. There were two bartenders working during my visit and very few guests. Both bartenders ignored me for a while to the point that a few other guests made joking comments. Once there was finally service, I considered it to be extremely uppity. No genuine customer service or warm exchange. To be honest, the service was one of the worst I've experienced in downtown Cleveland. Considering this is Ritz it was very underwhelming. A single experience at Turn is in order if you've never experienced it. You'll like the intimate ambiance and downtown view. I will not be returning. I've never been up to Turn Bar + Kitchen so I was happy to attend a happy hour event here. The event was primarily in a smaller private room across from the main bar/restaurant. This room had a small circular bar and some couches. Cool place for a happy hour or private event. The service here was a little slow but I think that was due to the number of people at the event and the fact that they were having issues with their POS system. At one point I went across the hall to the main bar to order a drink. Prices were a little high, but they had a pretty extensive drink and wine menu. I didn't get any food but they have a full menu and happy hour specials. Service was friendly. read more

Well as anyone who comes to Ritz, I had high expectations but to be honest I should've read the Yelp reviews before coming here for Brunch. The Ambience of the restaurant is very beautiful but I think that is the only good thing there. Starting with the service, for almost 10 mins we got the wrong menu, then the menu was changed. We asked for water and never received it. I asked for no sausage no my food, they misunderstood me and brought me a vegetarian dish with no shrimp or scallops. Then we had to wait for almost 30 mins for the servers to even look at us to get us the check, another 30 mins for them to take the payment. In every single restaurant I have been, when they make a mistake like what they did, they take out the item from the check, which they did not. Excellent food! The service was impressive! Unique dishes! It was relaxing eating here and I didn't feel rushed to get through my meal. Very fresh ingredients are used to create these dishes. I ate the Branzino and really enjoyed it. The fish was prepared well and not overcooked. My spouse liked the chicken sandwich. Nice sized portion of chicken patty to the bun. He could also tell that the chicken was fresh and not a frozen patty. The appetizer of the loaded waffle fries was also delicious. The dessert menu looked fabulous but no room in our tummies. Visited Turn Bar + Kitchen for the first time in June 2024 and it was...okay. Perhaps because I arrived right at the start of happy hour, there was no real sense of where to go or what to do. I sat around for a while before my friend arrived and when she did we had to linger around even longer for someone to acknowledge us. There is a host stand but it was unattended. Again, like because we arrived early but I still expect some kind of acknowledgement. Anywho, once we were seated and settled (fortunately with a window seat), our server (Mary) was an absolute delight. We didn't order much food but enjoyed a bottle of wine and a couple appetizers. Unfortunately, none of us could stomach the Parmesan truffle Brussels sprouts which is odd because they sounds delicious, right? There was a very odd taste to them (almost like the truffle had gone bad?). We didn't eat them and explained our disappointment and were graciously not charged. The vibe seemed to change in a good way around the time we leaving (closer to 7pm) so that's why I suspect our experience might have been better if we arrived a bit later when they were in the full swing of happy hour service. I was so excited to try Turn! From the moment I walked into the hotel, I was greeted and the door was held open for me and they guided me to the elevator and pushed the button for me to go upstairs to the restaurant. Really friendly staff and great service at this hotel. I went upstairs to Turn and was greeted by a really friendly waitress and she offered to take my coat for me and was so kind. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations! She was lovely and would joke and made us really comfortable. I believe her name was "Melany?" She was amazing! Now, the reason I took off a star was because the portions were not a lot for the price I paid. I saw reviews saying the portions were huge, they weren't for me. I was really disappointed with how little salad I got and chicken. Plus chicken was $9.00 extra for only a small portion. Disappointed. Had a very good breakfast here on Christmas morning. My husband and I stayed at the Ritz Carlton where this restaurant is attached, and really enjoyed our meal. I had the salmon benedict, and minus the the spinach on it which was a tad salty, it was delicious. I find most hollandaise sauce to be boring, but theirs tasted great like it had mustard added. My husband had a corned beef hash that he enjoyed as well. The ambiance is great here as the decor is fancy, some tables have a nice big window view and there is an ample sized bar area. We stopped by this fancy restaurant inside the Ritz the other day and we're not disappointed. The vibe was slightly less "fancy" that I expected but in a good way. There were items on the menu ranging from wings and soft pretzel (giant) to fancy steaks and $300 cocktails with gold accents. There's a cute bar and fireplace and lots of windows overlooking downtown. This place def has style. The server was sooo kind and friendly and called us by our names. We felt like VIPs. The tiki Rickey drink was perfectly blended and they also had a variety of other cocktails and beers. I had the grilled filet that was super juicy. The best side was the brussel sprouts that were seasoned perfect and crispy. My bud and got the prime rib eye that was also excellent and not over cooked at all. Potato wedges were ok. I should have mentioned it first but the bread totally stood out. It was chewy and soft with a nice crust. Different types of bread and specially salted butter. Ever since the Turn Bar opened I looked forward to checking it out. My wife and I were in town celebrating my birthday. We both like martinis and decided to go to the Turn Bar for cocktails before going to Little Italy for dinner. There is a comfortable elegance in the design of the room. The bar itself is relatively small in relation to the balance of the room, which is designed like a lounge. I was surprised to see very large screen televisions placed above the bar itself, which detracted from the elegance of the room. Luxury hotels are typically known for have a high standard and attention to service. We were greeted promptly upon arrival by a the hostess and the bartender, but not with the warmth or level of attention that I have experienced at other other luxury properties (including other Ritz hotels). Considering that there were only 4 other customers in the entire bar, I would have expected a high level of attention and service. However the 3 bartenders on duty kept mostly to themselves and showed virtually no interest in interacting with the customers. I ordered a vodka martini with olives and my wife ordered a cosmopolitan. She was very pleased with her Cosmo. However, I was disappointed. My martini barely filled 3/4 of the glass and that was with 3 large olives in the glass. In addition, the martini not nearly as cold as it should have been. We stopped at the Ritz Carlton for a drink before a concert. We had the most amazing time and it was because of the bartender Elsie, (not sure of the correct spelling of her name). She was so friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed the wonderful stories of her many years working at the Ritz. She has been there, in various roles, for about 20 years. She was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks . She suggested a cocktail I ended up loving. We had an appetizer and entree and both were fantastic. My last review on this Yelp page was before the time of Turn. The restaurant of the Ritz Cleveland used to be and look different. Turn is more modern. There is no formal dining room like before. The main seating area consists of tables surrounding the bar. The servers were all very friendly and attentive and knew the menu well. Even in the busy evening I didn't feel rushed and was able to linger and enjoy the live jazz music. Dinner The bar was busy with every seat taken one Saturday evening. I was able to get a same day reservation for two for no earlier than 8:30pm so I'd recommend even if you're staying in the hotel still make a reservation. The seating style means there are fewer seats than there could be. (It also means that the lobby and the restaurant blend into one space so there isn't a main floor seating area when dinner is in session.) For dinner I went with the trout. It was served on a fish shaped cast iron dish on a similarly shaped wooden board. The fish was cooked perfectly and the serving size was good. The fish came with green beans and almonds which were good though in a bit of an oily sauce. The flavors were all good and I would definitely order this again. The drink menu is creative, but pricey with some cocktails at $20. I enjoyed the taste - and smell upon serving - of The Smokey Man, a bourbon drink. Watch out for the Old Fashioned - it's made with tequila! Breakfast The breakfast menu was great. OpenTable showed no openings, but the restaurant was empty so they must just not accept reservations for breakfast. There were juices and smoothies and healthy entree options. I ordered the egg white frittata which came with chicken and mushrooms and tomatoes and goat cheese and the good kind of asparagus - thin stalked. The frittata filled the plate but did come alacarte. I ordered a side of heirloom potatoes to go with it. They were very good - crispy and a little salty. The coffee was horrible though. Very sad since Cleveland has many local coffee roasters. It's a sin they charge $6 for a cup of that watered down nasty tasting liquid - especially when it's free in the lobby. read more

We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in downtown Cleveland this weekend. We checked in and decided to go to happy hour at Turn Bar on the 6th floor. We got there just before 6 PM- ordered a drink and a beer (the beer was at special happy hour price). The bartender gave us some snacks to eat- watch out for those wasabi peas- they will make your eyes water! My wife noticed a lever and chain behind the bar - we weren't sure what it was. Then Sam the bartender starts mixing a carafe of drinks and started a smoker to "smoke" the Manhattan. So we found out that at 6 PM every Monday through Friday, they have an "Off the Clock" cocktail that they share with everyone at the bar. Todays was the smoked Manhattan- smoked with cherry wood. They pour out a shot glass for each person- the one bartender pulls the aforementioned chain which blows a steam whistle for 6 PM "off the clock" time. The other bartender explains the tradition and then we all share the drink in a shot glass for each of us. Pretty neat idea! A good happy hour to hit! read more

I took my girlfriend to dinner at Turn Bar + Kitchen before heading to see TSO at the "Q". I wouldn't normally select a restaurant attached to a hotel (Turn Bar + Kitchen is located in the Ritz-Carlton at Tower City), but it was a convenient location for our needs that evening. My girlfriend ordered the Grilled Faroe Island Salmon with asparagus, and I ordered the Dry-Aged Beef Filet with Paprika Sausage, accompanied by Pancetta Maple Brussels Sprouts. She absolutely loved her salmon dish, and while my filet was just slightly overcooked to a more medium side of medium-rare, the dish was still good. I was surprised that the Brussels Sprouts were steam prepared. The trend that most chefs are going with now are either grilled or char-broiled. They would've been fine, however, if they hadn't been just a tad cold. I still finished them, so it wasn't like they were awful or anything. We both also ordered a cocktail from their cocktail menu. I had the Aztec Old Fashioned, which was very good. I don't recall what my girlfriend ordered, but I know that she enjoyed it. The service was excellent, as you would expect at a Ritz-Carlton. Pleasant smiles, the right amount of chit chat, prompt refills; superb. The atmosphere was classy but with a casual vibe. We were seated in the bar section, and had a very nice time overall. Pricing is where Turn Bar + Kitchen loses a star or two. You'll easily spend an additional $5-10 on dinner, and a couple more bucks on drinks too when compared to the other restaurans around town, and while the food was good to excellent, there really isn't anything on the menu that will knock your socks off; just the standard selections you would expect. If it's a Sunday night and you find yourself downtown looking for a place that's open, or you're looking for a quiet place to take a client to dinner Turn Bar + Kitchen is fine even for the few bucks more than you probably will think it's worth. It won't make it on my list of favorites, but I'll keep it in my back pocket for those certain circumstances if/when they arise. read more

I usually stay away from hotel restaurants but because of scheduling ended up at the Muse and found it to be delightful. I had the citrus scallops and my guest had the Mahi Mahi. Both came perfectly prepared and perfectly presented. I certainly can't complain of the food and the service was likewise impeccable. Muse also has a very complete wine list, which list was impressive even compared to that of other high end hotels. I also enjoyed the seating, as every chair is not only comfortable but has arms on them. As for the bar area, it only has four bar stools; hence more display than functional. Though Muse is perfect in ever detail, it has a sterile sort of hotel atmosphere about it. When dinning you just seem to be aware of the fact that it really isn't a restaurant as such but the convenience extension of something else; in this case a hotel. Because it is a nice place with superb service, I gave it a three stars but as I can honestly say that I'm a fan of the place. However, if stuck in the Ritz hotel, pressured for time, I'd go here again. read more

Not terribly impressed. I made a reservation for 3 on Open Table. I got there, gave my name, and was seated. First impression was ok. It's a nice space and they did a beautiful renovation. However, I felt like diners were being people watched by the front desk staff because they are RIGHT THERE. For some reason, my Open Table reservation was subsequently cancelled, which I didn't find out until checking my emails later. 100 points I missed out on and I'm not sure why. There were only 2 other occupied tables and a handful of bored looking people at the bar. So there shouldn't have been confusion. Anywho, we ordered drinks, which were all pretty tasty. For a shared app, we got the waffle fries. Definitely get those, they're good times. As for entrees....yeah. I ordered the Crab BLT and regret it to this day. You know what bacon CAN'T make better? Alfalfa sprouts, that's what. They were just stringy and gross. My two girlfriends ordered the Shrimp Scampi and the Scallops. Both had to be sent back to the kitchen for being too cold. Our waitress was sweet, but she continued to disappear. I'm unsure if it was her or the kitchen. What I do know is that they took the plates, microwaved them (or whatever they do) and sent them back out. That's a terrible thing to do to delicate seafood like shrimp and scallops. Thankfully, they weren't terribly affected. The scallops came with "Ohio City Pasta" which turned out to be ravioli. Strange choice. Best thing about the meal was the dessert. Cassata cake and it was pretty tasty. No Baraonas, but it will do. If you're a drinker, get the Triple. That was so darn good, I had to take a picture of the menu! All in all, it's overpriced and service was lacking. Lovely space, but valet parking was hella expensive even with validation. It was a Thursday and I paid $20! We were looking for a restaurant to have breakfast/brunch. Not many choices around in this area of Cleveland. When we arrived at the restaurant the host mentioned "they weren't serving brunch", then proceeded to hand us lunch menus at 11am (on. Sunday). We were terribly disappointed. Restaurant management needs to do a better job at advertising that no brunch is served. However, after I mentioned our disappointment for no having an opportunity to have breakfast at the restaurant, Melinda came to the rescue, handing everyone in our party breakfast menus. Service was fast and perfect! I would expect nothing less while staying at the Ritz Carlton. We showed up at noon after the great fun at the On the Run II concert. Although we were way past their serving time they were happy to accommodate my breakfast item request. The blueberry pancakes were divine! Burst of juicy blueberries in fluffy pancakes with the crispy edges...!yum!...served with giant pieces of bacon cooked to my preference (soft but not chewy). My cute tiny bottles of warm maple syrup were also a nice touch. The oatmeal was also very good and each topping plated individually so you can add as much brown sugar, bananas or granola as you like. Prices were higher than usual breakfast menu items, however with the quality of the food and the ambience I think it was worth the price. read more

I was really excited to hear about this restaurant being opened into the Ritz-Carlton in hopes to revitalize the hotel. In my personal opinion, they are on the right track. The intimate and elegant decor is breathtaking and captivates all of the guests that walk through. For a Saturday night, there was quite the mixture of guests and locals dancing to the DJ's music. The full service bar serves several options for appetizers, entrees and other aspects of your typical menu. I selected the salmon, which was cooked to my liking, but the pricing was not. I understand that this is an upscale hotel, but let's be real, paying more than 30 dollars for a small filet of salmon, complimented with only asparagus, is a bit ridiculous. I am more than happy to pay for quality, but this was not the case. In addition to this, the wine selected was not impressive, and again, nor were the prices. I am a huge fan of the Vivino app, and seeing what they were chargin for a glass, compared to the market value of the bottle, was insulting. Again, I understand that they are in the business to make money, but there comes a point to where you are being greedy. Overall, this place is worth stopping by if you are in the neighborhood, but be prepared for a slightly pricier bill. read more
