We reserved a patio table. Naturally, it rained--or at least threatened to rain, which in Ohio is apparently enough to close a patio. So we got a window table instead. Not bad. Actually, pretty nice. Then there was Fernando. One of the most professional, personable servers I've encountered in quite a while. The guy could probably deliver bad news and have you thanking him for it. Blackened scallops in a light cream sauce were excellent, big flavor without drowning the scallops in cream. The halibut with crabmeat was beautifully prepared and flavorful, although the top was a little overcooked, perhaps from waiting a bit under the heat lamp before making its grand entrance. The Mare--handmade tagliatelle with garlic, clams, shrimp, EVOO and Pinot Grigio--was terrific. Well balanced, loaded with seafood and generous enough to make you wonder if the kitchen had misread the portion-size memo. There was one glitch: our entrées arrived about two minutes after the appetizers. We sent them back. Fernando immediately investigated, explained the kitchen timing problem and apologized. Excellent recovery. Tiramisu was very good, though not quite a religious experience. Overall: excellent food, exceptional service and a pleasant atmosphere--although the dining room could use a little less volume. Apparently, everyone had something important to say. Okay, our server Alan was fantastic! Great at his job and giving recommendations but also subtly hilarious! He would just casually say jokes when he comes over to check on you but the jokes never sounded forced. Too funny. The halibut special was delicious! It melted in my mouth and was so silky. One of the best cooked halibut I've ever had. The asparagus was also well cooked, tender but with a crunch but not charred/burnt. Another must is the pesto ravioli! A real standout restaurant in the area! They are perfect for a hot date night or any special occasion. The staff make you feel right at home and the menu and specials really standout being this far from the city center. I had the oso bucco and my wife had the truffle dish. Both were yummy and we shared the golden beet salad over a few cocktails (old fashioned). You just cannot go wrong with this place. Very weird experience. The fire alarm was going off for 20 minutes and nobody addressed it with us. We had a reservation and then were sat at the bar area. We went for a birthday celebration and were deeply disappointed. We had better expectations given the incredible sister restaurant is our favorite - Luca (now Casa La Luna). My wife and I went for our anniversary. They have a nice and fancy atmosphere that's great for a special occasion. Our server was excellent and provided top tier service. Food wise, you receive complimentary bread and garlic dipping oil. This was fantastic! I'm not a big bread eater, but it was so fresh and soft and paired amazingly with the garlic oil. My wife and I both ordered different steaks and a side pasta. The steaks were cooked perfectly and had a good flavor. The side pasta was basic, which we knew when ordering. They treated us to complimentary tiramisu and we added a salted caramel cheesecake. It was a good dinner and a good night. We'll be back to try a specialty pasta. read more

Even though the restaurant was half full our server put the bum's rush on us the entire night. He asked for our orders within a minute or two from providing menus and didn't let up even though we told him we wanted to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. Last night I took my parents to our favorite restaurant for an enjoyable patio happy hour and once again you delivered on a high note ! For those who haven't been to Luca there is a lovely interior space as well as a very inviting outdoor patio area with a bar weather permitting of course. If you go for happy hour be there at 4:30 as a line quickly forms. The entire staff works well together and very nice and accommodating. Regardless of main dinner or happy hour selections you can't go wrong. The food is amazingly good and we've always had good meals here. I have visited some of the finest restaurants around the world as an airline captain and I can tell you nothing is perfect for everyone anywhere and Luca is pretty damn good ! We ordered the mussels, orecchiette, the penne and the cavatelli, the calamari and there is bread service as well. Everything was done well and the sauces all tasted great. We also had a delicious pear martini and Sangria. The Sangria was nice, not overly sweet and not polluted with a bunch of chunky fruit. Do yourself a favor and go to make your own decision. Not sure what the hype is about. First and last time there today, sadly. Ordered chicken piccata, pricey at $33 but I love a good piccata. Chicken tasted like it was boiled then put in the oven to "melt" some parm cheese. The kicker- waiter asked if I wanted it over pasta or potatoes and carrots. I selected pasta. Clearly store bought pasta---and they charged an additional $12 for the pasta!! If it wasn't included why would you not tell me about a ridiculous upcharge! $45 for bland, boiled chicken piccata. We told the waiter it was our first time, felt he was annoyed we didn't get appetizers so this is how he could make extra money. Short rib ravioli, bland. Drinks average. Very expensive anniversary dinner to only get average food. We don't mind paying higher prices for a great dinner but this wasn't it. Won't be going back. read more

I finally visited Luca West on Friday evening, May 17th 2024. I arrived for an early dinner with a friend at 4:40pm. I came strictly for happy hour ($7) which is from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. FOOD - HAPPY HOUR (5/5) -- Happy Hour is a great deal at just $7 a plate. I ordered the Orecchiette pasta and tried some of the calamari that my friend ordered. The Orecchiette is made with Italian Fennel Sausage, Rapini , and White Wine. It was just your classic orecchiette and I enjoyed it. The calamari was tasty as well. I especially loved dipping the soft bread into the calamari tomato sauce. The quantity (size) of both dishes was more than enough food for one person and I was full after leaving. My friend ordered a drink, the peach bellini ($7) which she enjoyed. I don't drink alcohol so I didn't get a drink. I can't wait to return to try other italian dishes. I heard their patio is beautiful so I'd love to see it next time (it wasn't opened today). At just $7 a plate during happy hour, you can't get a better deal than that anywhere else in town, that I know of. TIP -- The entrance may pull you away because it doesn't look like a restaurant but you are in the right spot. Luca West is just connected to an office building. I went out with my friend for a nice dinner. she chose this place. long story short. I got the beet salad if that is what you call it. it was more like beet carpaccio with a few crumples of goat and wilted arugula. I asked for balsamic because it love those flavors together. there was barely a quarter beet on this plate shaved a big disappointment for 13 dollars. I also got the piccata. this was sad. it looked like it sat in the window for hours. my friend got the short rib with also was lacking in presentation. There was a highlight to this meal and that was the 1/2 loaf of bread. dessert was not good either. WILL NOT RETURN. We made a reservation at Luca West for Mother's Day dinner, hoping to have a special family celebration. Unfortunately, this turned into one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, we felt ignored and unwelcome. Despite having a reservation, we were seated in a corner table and then left sitting there with no menus, no water, and no service for over 10-15 minutes. Servers were constantly walking around the restaurant and attending to other tables, yet nobody came to acknowledge us or check on us. We genuinely felt invisible. We were also dining with our one-year-old child and requested a high chair. At first, staff claimed they could not find one and instead brought us an unsafe booster seat with no proper straps or support. Only after additional requests did they eventually find an actual high chair. What made the experience even more upsetting was that, at the time, we were the only non-white customers in the restaurant. Every other table appeared to be receiving normal service while we continued to sit there without menus, water, or any attention at all. Whether intentional or not, the treatment felt deeply uncomfortable and unacceptable. This completely ruined our Mother's Day celebration. I came during happy hour with a friend to sample their menu a bit. Danijela was our server and she was very prompt and attentive. Someone different came to take our dinner order. Food was awful. What was suppose to be a creamy white sauce was diluted- chicken was thick dry and zero taste. They need to regroup. My first repeat review! And my first time ordering something totally new to me here in a while. Service on this night was good, a little slower at the start but always very helpful. Luca was in too, he is awesome as always. Don't be worried about it being too fancy or stuffy for a larger more talkative group, we were all catching up the whole time and felt very comfortable. Food was fabulous as always. Free bread and oil to die for, burrata appetizer was really really good and fresh. I got the cavatelli which was a totally new dish to me, the sauce was very similar to the tomato cream sauce in the bologna pasta dish but with a different pasta and pancetta mixed in. It was delicious and I brought home 3/4 of it. I will say, it was VERY hot temperature wise and did not cool down much throughout our meal so that made it a little tough to eat lol My companions got a variety from sachetti (amazing, reputation earned), veal tort, bolognese and bologna and all enjoyed. The other 4 waited 40 minutes for their drinks, and their martinis were served in champagne flutes because they ran out of barware. 2 of us got the lemon caper chicken, and it was tough and horrible. For the price of the meal, I just really expected better service. We had to ask for our server several times, and then we'd also have to repeat our requests several times. Someone at my table had to ask for a dessert menu three times, and he told her he couldn't give it to her until he had cleared her plate, which he offered to do but didn't. He told me if I didn't like my drink he'd get me a new one. Well I didn't like it at so all (I don't recommend the chocolate cherry martini) but he never asked if I liked it. We went to Luca west for a group dinner on a Thursday night. We ordered calamari and eggplant for the group to share and my Fiance and I split the branzino. The food was pretty solid. The free bread was warm and soft, the eggplant was good, and the calamari though unusual was tender. Our table side deboning of the branzino was a very fun element. However, the service was unfortunately very spotty. We waited at least 15min just staring around hoping for someone to take our order for dessert (we got the tiramisu and it was also good, nothing special but not bad). I went to Luca for my stepmom's birthday dinner with her friends and my sister and sister in law. What a fun place! The patio was spacious and from the decor you'd never know you were in a Cleveland suburb. The atmosphere was very European. They have a very extensive wine list, many available only by the bottle. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio which was crisp and perfectly chilled. For my meal I got the arugula salad and the tortellini, but before that, THE BREAD. Warm, crusty bread with roasted garlic spread. I would have been happy with just that! Our server whose name I didn't get, didn't bat an eye with our large group and he was knowledgeable and helpful with answering our menu questions. As a special treat for my stepmom, the staff brought her a little dessert with a candle and took her photo and printed it for her. Such a nice touch. I knew I was going to like this place, but I LOVED IT! Me and my friends sat outside and it was a beautiful day! We first ordered 1.5 servings of Secchetti...because we are obsessed with it and knew that 1 serving would not fulfill our needs. We also ordered some red wine to get us going while we decided what to order! - you can never go wrong with a Cabernet Sauvignon (we actually ended up ordering 2 bottles it was so good). I decided on the Mare (Tagliatelle, garlic, evoo, clams, shrimp, and pinot grigio). It was very good! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the shrimp and clams were delicious!!! All of the flavors really worked well with each other and I even had some of the pasta to take home, that reheated well (I never reheat seafood - I eat it all before I go). My friend got the Tortellini Di Vitello (veal stuffed tortellini, cream, parmigiana reggiano, sweet peas, and prosciutto). She loved her dish and said that the tortellini was perfect! I got to have a bite and I must say she was not wrong! My one bite was packed with flavor! Our other friend got the Costolette (grilled rack of lamb, wild mushroom risotto, and parmigiana reggiano). This large portion dish was probably big enough for two people to share, but I am not the biggest fan of lamb so I did not try it. My friends said that the mushroom risotto flavors worked really well with the lamb and brought a creamy flavor to the dish. They also really enjoyed the lamb rack by itself, saying that it still had a lot of flavor without the risotto. Came to Luca West for a work event as well as personally this past month. Highly recommend based off both experiences. The menu has multiple vegetarian options. Really enjoyed both the pesto mushroom ravioli as well as the eggplant melanzane appetizer. At the work event, food was fresh and tasty despite serving a large number of people. Service was excellent both when dining privately and at the corporate event. Servers were kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. We accidentally left our credit card at the restaurant and the manager called us within 10 min of us leaving the restaurant. read more

To our surprise and definitely delight, a warm very generous half loaf of the best bread I have ever eaten was first brought to us. It came with an olive oil herb infused dip with fresh cloves of garlic. You can ask for butter as we did. The bread had a delicious outer crunchy hard crust and the inside very fluffy and light with lots of holes. So, definitely not heavy. My friend ordered a seafood dish that was full of mussels, clams, crab meat, calamari and huge shrimp more like scampi size. My friend said everything was cooked perfect and nothing was rubbery. It comes in a large bowl with a tasty, light sauce. She took most of it home because the portion was huge but so well worth the money! Excellent and she said, the very best she has eaten ANYWHERE! She said in Maryland she'd pay $60.00 for a comparable dish. I had the pesto mushroom ravioli. Excellent!!! I was expecting maybe only 3-4 ravioli but counted at least six. I recently went to a Luca West with my work. They had a special menu they made for us and served everything family style, except for our starter salads and our entrées. I don't even know what was my favorite thing we ate because every thing was out of this world! We started out with fresh warm bread that was literally fresh out of the oven. Next they brought sacchetti al tartufo bianco which is truffe and ricotta stuffed sacchetti stuffed with white trufle cream with a balsamic and fig drizzle - to die for so many good flavors together. Next they brought out bruschetta crostini- this I actually was not a big fan of. The bruschetta did not taste fresh, and the crostini was rockhard. This was the only plate we did not clear. Next they brought us out individual starter salads - just a basic salad with balsamic dressing, but it was very good and it had fontinella cheese which was very fancy lol Next we were brought braised beef, ravioli with Gorgonzola cheese and mushrooms. If I had to pick a favorite item we had this was probably in my top two. The combination of the beef and the mushrooms and the cheese, and the pasta was just heavenly. Next they brought out potato gnocchi, which had sun-dried tomatoes and porcini mushrooms. Also, just so extremely delicious. We then had our choice of three of the main dishes for the daily special. We had our choice between chicken, fish, pork, or lamb. I went with the lamb and was divine. I don't know that I've had lamb this good in my entire life it was a grilled rack of lamb on top of mushroom risotto, covered in Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, and drizzled with a balsamic glaze. To finish off our already decadent and extremely filling meal, we received a plate of desserts. Tiramisu, cannolis, and chocolate mousse cups with fresh raspberries. The tiramisu was just amazing. We were extremely spoiled by this amazing tasting menu that Luca West made up for our team. I would like to say that Luca West did not pay for this meal at all it was paid for by my work. I was just floored by the amazing quality of this food. The service was exceptional as well - we had one main waitress for about 25 of us - she kept up on our drinks, and she did have a little help delivering all of our food. Overall, I was extremely happy with this experience, and I have looked at Luca's menu for other food items and pricing - I definitely plan to return in the future for their happy hour. read more
