Dawn & Shannon made my visit here exceptional. They both went above & beyond standard service. I would come back here simply for them. Dawn was enjoyable to talk with. This is a cute little restaurant. It's a little on the more dressy side, but I didn't feel too out of place in joggers & a hoodie. The bread & oil is the perfect start to the rest of the meal. I ordered the Eggplant Piccolo for starters. It was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside. The cheese on top made the center a little soggy but it was still delicious. It was a great balance between the marinara, eggplant & cheese. I would recommend this as a starter. For main course, I ordered the Chicken Parmesan. It's worth noting that the portions here are large & worth the price. Had I known how large the portions were, I probably would not have ordered the appetizer. *Chef's kiss for the Chicken parm. It was breaded & dried perfectly without becoming dry. It was perfectly topped with sauce & string mozzarella. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend this dish. called for reservations for 2 people @5:00pm and requested a high top table, I was assured my request was confirmed by the male person I talked to @2:33pm. My wife and I arrived at 4:55pm. The host said she could not seat us at a high top table (even though I requested one and it was confirmed) I had requested one for physical disability reasons. After this disappointment we were seated at a regular highth table. I ordered their Fettuccine Alfredo w/grilled chicken. The chicken was not "Grilled" (no seer marks) and the entire dish was too salty and not edible. I mentioned this to our server, she apologized and asked if I would like to order something else, I declined. I was not charged for my entre but tipped our server very generously for the two meals as ordered. We have patronized this restaurant many, many times in the 22 years we have lived in Mayfield Hts. and also have used their catering services. Thank You to our wonderful server. The reservation problem was not handled to my satisfaction and in my opinion their "Greeting Host" needs more training. As for the excessive salty Fettuccine Alfredo, an entre they are famous for, if the chef made a mistake in preparation so be it. However if it was done vindictively by the staff for my disapproval of the way they handled my "Confirmed Reservation" the restaurant owner or general manager should look into this matter. I have never been to Piccolo's before this experience which I am surprised about since I love family-owned, local Italian restaurants but I guess the buzz didn't reach my ears before reading about them in the Pizza Week flyer. I really enjoyed seeing how busy they were on a regular 'ol Monday evening. The place was packed and there was a line. I am unsure if they take reservations though but it might be a good idea to make some if they do. I ordered a 10-inch Tutto Carne pizza to-go as part of the $9 Cleveland Pizza Week specials. Initially, I was surprised at how small the pizza was but the size did make it a manageable personal pizza for a solo diner. As for the taste, I was impressed by the meat quality, particularly of the meatballs. I wish there was even more. The pizza was not over or underbaked and the crust was quite tasty. I would have liked more sauce on it as well as some seasoning of some kind to make the pizza stand apart. Overall, I am quite happy with my $9 pizza. However, I do not believe it is worth it at its full price. It is normally a 12 inch pizza, so it is larger typically, but the OG price is $18.50! An extra 2 inches do not equate to twice the price. However, I'm looking forward to joining the large amount of locals who choose to dine-in and try some authentic pasta dishes! read more

A friend and I were in the area on business. I scoped the restaurant out two days before we got there and decided that's where will dine after we were done working. We arrived around 1pm. The door was open we entered, there were no customers. A gentleman greeted us and said they were closed and there were no servers or bartenders take out only. We said how disappointed we were because of the distance we traveled and were looking forward to dining at Piccolo's. He said if we don't mind sitting at the bar he would wait on us. I went here on a busy Saturday evening, nearly every seat was taken & the wait was not long at all. All associates were very effective & efficient in what they were doing like a well oiled machine. The real star of the night was Kelsey (our server) she was quick to introduce herself, waited the perfect amount of time of time between asking for our drink, app, & entree orders. She was constantly working & moving. My interaction with her was amazing but seeing how she treated other guests just made it all that better. Four of us ordered lunch. One of us ordered gluten free pasta. The waitress took the order and they started preparing the meal. After a while the waitress came back and told us that the gluten free pasta had not been cooked and that we would either have to wait for it or we would have to order something else. We were told that the pizza would be quick so that is what we decided to select. It was not quick and 1 person ended up eating alone since the rest of us were pretty much done eating. Really enjoy their fried zucchini and happy hour. I've been many times to this location and I'm a real big fan of the $12 fried zucchini appetizer with A cream mayo. So I've written reviews for Piccolo and I have purchased family meals from here several times. I even bought gift cards during pandemic to use later.i probably won't be returning which in the scheme of things isn't a big deal. I took a friend there last week for dinner, she loves eggplant parm and I love their polpette (meatballs and ricotta). We get the same thing every time we go. When our food came after a 40 minute wait there was about 2 oz of ricotta on my plate, usually there are 2 good size 3 oz dollops of ricotta. My friends eggplant had very little marinara and hardly any Parmesan. Not like usual. We asked the waitress to remedy it she came back telling us the owner and chef said that I ordered off the happy hour menu and that's all I get same response for the eggplant. First off hers was an appetizer not happy hour secondly I get the same thing every time I go there. I would have been fine paying extra but that wasn't even an offer. Apparently happy hour patrons get less for their money. It's to bad their food is pretty good. Chef and owner not the nicest. read more

Walked in at right at opening at 4pm and was excited to check out the restaurant after reading the reviews. We checked online and there were reservations openings at 4:15 PM just prior to our arrival. As we walked in, we were the first two people to arrive. However as we arrived, the hostess indicated that there was a large party coming in at 5:15 PM and asked if we were going to be gone by then. We informed her, that's not going to be a problem. However I did think that was strange given the number of openings that they had a listed on their website reservation app. The bread was cooked nicely, but the herb dip mixed in with olive oil lacked flavor. The side salad was fresh and I appreciated the chickpeas on top, but there was very little dressing. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, but the calamari was not crispy and instead of placing the sauce on the side, the sauce was poured on top further taking away the crunch of the calamari. It also lacked seasoning. I ordered the chicken piccata with a side of pasta for my main course. Portion size was appropriate. However I was not a fan of the entree. The artichokes were very chewy and not properly prepared. The chicken was breaded nicely, but there was no flavor. It lacked the lemon wine sauce that truly makes the dish what it is. Although this is kind of petty, I hated that this Italian restaurant did not have fresh Parmesan cheese or cracked black pepper to accent the dishes. I did like the ambience of the restaurant. It was nicely decorated and felt intimate. Our waitress was prompt and was familiar with the menu and specials. In short, it was a cute location, but given the expensive price tag for two people, I had higher expectations and left disappointed. Also came in the hostess rush to get us out, we left close to 5:30 PM and there was still plenty of openings within the restaurant. I most likely will not return. read more

My sister and her family chose Piccolo for my beautiful Nieces baptism luncheon today. It was the perfect spot!! We started with the bread and oil, which was fabulous! We followed that up with the house salad with balsamic. The dressing was just perfect! We chose from eggplant parm, cavatelli, and chicken piccata. I had a little of each and they were packed with flavor! The eggplant parm and chicken were lightly fried and it was so tasty! I had their wedding soup which was tasty, ceasar salad was good and I ordered the veal saltimbocca. The veal had a nice crunch, the sauce was creamy but not overpowering.
