Beef Short Rib, mashed potatoes and asparagus
    Frank B.

The atmosphere was nice and comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive. However, although the food was good it was not prepared as requested...ie rare instead of medium rare, asparagus instead of green beans and we ordered an appetizer but never recieved it before our main meal. To be fair the server was new and inexperienced. We would like to try the restaurant again in the hopes this was just a fluke.

What a secret gem! Stumbled upon this after seeing an article about their launch online, and had to check it out. Hidden in bratenhal is a gated luxury apartment building with what looks like use to be a tenets only bar and restaurant. The old pictures show it looking kind of rough but the space has so much character, and looks like it has really been revived for its new chapter. We made reservations, got seated right away, and immediately were greeted by server and staff. The ambiance is very romantic, moody, Italian, countryside. We got a meatball app with polenta (yes), cocktails (get the Negroni, it's incredible) and two entrees. Chicken picatta and pesto gnocchi. The gnocchi? Top notch, def get this. Oh we also got the Italian sausage soup and a side salad with the entrees. Get the soup too. We wrapped up with tiramisu - oh man this was good. Server was attentive all night, friendly, was able to recommend dishes. Other servers were around, knowledgeable and pleasant too. Honestly, while I live 30 minutes away, this might be my new spot. They also have a bar menu, and fun events every now and then too.

The wait for the food order (which was delicious) was reasonable given there was a private event happening, although it did seem the bartender was stretched a little thin, taking care of the 6-7 people at the bar, making drinks for another area, and putting glasses away from a previous shift. I had the meatballs and an Italian chopped salad, both very good. Overall, it was a nice experience.

Since the Metropolitan is home to an apartment complex, an upscale hotel, a rooftop bar, a dog park, a Pilates studio, a theater, a basement vault bar, and a "high-end" eatery, there's a whole lot of people constantly coming and going. Sitting at the four (five?) two-person tables situated right at the balcony railing means you can easily lean over and watch people come and go while sipping your drinks. Unlike the rest of the bars in the hotel, I was told there was no drink menu at the Ledger, and the bartender (who waited my table!) simply asked what flavor profile I was desiring tonight. The resulting drink he made was honestly good, and I really enjoyed it. Zero idea what was in it to ever order it again (and he was really overworked to ask!), but it was a neat experience of a "craft your own experience". There were a few beers on tap. I'm unsure about wine. Centro's food menu (restaurant downstairs) appears to be available here. There's a single unisex bathroom within steps of the bar, and the regular hotel lobby bathrooms are down a floor. As conference rooms are nearby this bar, I'd also probably guess there's a large conference room bathroom block too, but I didn't find that one. The rest of the bars and restaurants in the Metropolitan tend to take most of the attention here, and the Ledger has a much more laid-back, chill vibe. A lot of people were watching a sports game (baseball, I think?) on the TV behind me. With the smaller space and wide "open" area of the full lobby, the Ledger feels like your calmest, quietest bar option out of the available places at the Metropolitan.

Very disturbing and disgusting experience here…read more My husband and I were going to a play next door and were walking along the strip looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite about an hour beforehand. We saw this restaurant and sat on the completely empty patio. A server came outside, gave us menus, and we began looking over them and discussing what we wanted. Two women then walked up and asked us if the restaurant was open. We told them the server would come out, so we essentially brought them business as well. Within about five minutes, the same male server came outside three separate times asking if we were ready to order. He did not offer us drinks or water and seemed increasingly irritated that we were sitting there. The third time, my husband simply said, "We're good for now." The server then picked up a plastic sign that had been lying face down on the table, presumably blown over by the wind, and slammed it aggressively down in front of me, startling me, before storming away. We looked at the sign and saw that it said "Patrons Only." We were completely stunned by the way this was handled. If there was an issue with us being on the patio, it could have been communicated respectfully from the beginning. My husband went inside to ask for a manager. The same man told him that he was the manager and there was no one else. My husband asked for the owner, and after leaving for several minutes, he returned with the owner's phone number written on a Post-it note while insisting that he had done nothing wrong. My husband calmly asked him whether he thought his behavior toward us was appropriate. At that point, the "manager" came from behind the bar and began screaming at the top of his lungs directly in my husband's face, in front of all of the tables in the restaurant, loudly enough that I could hear it from outside along with two police officers who were nearby that rushed in after hearing it. He then got directly in my husband's face and chest-bumped him, escalating the situation physically. Another employee also became involved, yelling at my husband and appearing as though he was going to become physically aggressive as well. I opened the door because I was concerned about what was happening, and my husband and the two officers came outside. The manager never came back outside, and another employee took over the other table. The four of us were absolutely beside ourselves. We contacted the owner from outside the restaurant, but despite being told the owner would follow up, we have had to reach out ourselves and have still not received an adequate response regarding what happened. We are both business owners ourselves, and we cannot imagine treating customers this way. Regardless of whether there was a misunderstanding about the patio, there are professional and respectful ways to address customers. Screaming in someone's face, chest-bumping them, and escalating the situation physically is completely unacceptable. The incident was so loud and disruptive that people who were walking into the restaurant witnessed what was happening and left before they even walked in. This was not a quiet disagreement--it was a very public and extremely aggressive confrontation. We have never experienced anything like this in our entire lives of patronizing restaurants. We filed a police report regarding the incident. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this establishment to be aware of our experience.
