The Ledger Bar is a small (I mean small) bar situated on the balcony that overlooks the Metropolitan at the 9's Hotel Lobby. Since the Metropolitan is home to an apartment complex, an upscale hotel, a rooftop bar, a dog park, a Pilates studio, a theater, a basement vault bar, and a "high-end" eatery, there's a whole lot of people constantly coming and going. Sitting at the four (five?) two-person tables situated right at the balcony railing means you can easily lean over and watch people come and go while sipping your drinks. Unlike the rest of the bars in the hotel, I was told there was no drink menu at the Ledger, and the bartender (who waited my table!) simply asked what flavor profile I was desiring tonight. The resulting drink he made was honestly good, and I really enjoyed it. Zero idea what was in it to ever order it again (and he was really overworked to ask!), but it was a neat experience of a "craft your own experience". There were a few beers on tap. I'm unsure about wine. Centro's food menu (restaurant downstairs) appears to be available here. There's a single unisex bathroom within steps of the bar, and the regular hotel lobby bathrooms are down a floor. As conference rooms are nearby this bar, I'd also probably guess there's a large conference room bathroom block too, but I didn't find that one. The rest of the bars and restaurants in the Metropolitan tend to take most of the attention here, and the Ledger has a much more laid-back, chill vibe. A lot of people were watching a sports game (baseball, I think?) on the TV behind me. With the smaller space and wide "open" area of the full lobby, the Ledger feels like your calmest, quietest bar option out of the available places at the Metropolitan. read more

Stopped here for drinks and a bite to eat before heading to an event. Very nice place with a relaxing atmosphere. My smoked old-fashioned was made perfectly. The wait for the food order (which was delicious) was reasonable given there was a private event happening, although it did seem the bartender was stretched a little thin, taking care of the 6-7 people at the bar, making drinks for another area, and putting glasses away from a previous shift. I had the meatballs and an Italian chopped salad, both very good. Overall, it was a nice experience. read more

Glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem, which is located above the lobby. Well the hidden gem is only a hidden gem if he's working, "Mike!" Three days on the job and he serving as if he's been doing this his whole life...lol. We had several craft cocktails that he made up on the spot. It reminded me how the Vault used to be a couple years ago, except he was like our own personal bartender in a hidden part of a hotel lobby. You give him the base and/or flavor profile of your liking and he's got your back. We traveled to several of the well known bars in Cleveland over the past three years and this one was the best. Great conversation, great drinks, great service, great music, and great recommendations for travel in the Cleveland area. Thanks Mike...5 stars for you. If i could literally rate this place 100 stars i would. Me and my best friend were in town for a show Friday night, traveling from buffalo. We have never been to cleveland before, and when we were given a recommendation for a hotel bar to spend our night at, of course we were skeptical. But-- oh my gosh. michael the bartender literally is the friendliest, funniest, most down to earth person we could've ever asked to be served by. We loved him so much, we even made it a point to go BACK to the hotel the next night to spend the evening with him again. He made us feel so welcomed in the city! Even giving us a full list of spots he recommends ranging from food, to tourist spots, etc. I'll remember him for a long time! I was on travel and came across this quaint little elegant bar in downtown Cleveland. I had just come from dinner and was looking for a place to grab drinks and decided to check it out. It's a hotel bar with a really nice ambiance having a small bar that's surrounded by couches and lounge chairs. The bar was pretty quiet with only a few other patrons in and out. They have a menu with plenty of variety regarding food options ranging from charcuterie boards and grilled octopus to housemade pastas and tomahawk steaks. There's also a variety of cocktail options such as peach mojitos and raspberry lemondrops in addition to a decent wine selection. At this particular hour on a Saturday night I was simply interested in the drinks and so after trying the raspberry lemon drop beverage I gave the bartender creative license to make a variety of drinks for me to try out and she did not disappoint. Overall great experience and I definitely recommend checking this spot out whenever you find yourself in downtown Cleveland, and ask for Natalie she'll take care of you. read more

My friend and I visited the Ledger bar two weeks in a row. The first time we had "P" as our bartender. He was awesome! I can't remember the name of our bartender the second time. But he was awesome as well. These gentleman had great personalities and excellent service skills. We ordered Lobster Mac and cheese and shrimp & grits while we were waiting to go to a Yelp Elite event at the Alex Theater. Both dishes were delicious! Plenty of lobster in my mac and cheese. The shrimp and grits had a good flavor, but it reminded me of an etoufee. There was a gravy like sauce with grape tomatoes in it as opposed to a tomato or Trinity based sauce that I'm used to seeing in that dish. We got the Nutella Pot De Crème both visits and you should too! The bartender was even kind enough to hold on to our food while we went to our event. Great experience overall! read more

For happy hour, there's 2 places you can grab a drink in The 9 in the cold weather: Adega, or Ledger Bar, as Azure is closed in winter and Vault doesn't open until 9pm. The Ledger bar is a little inconspicuous. Once in the elevator of The 9, there's easy buttons directing to its major attractions...but none for Ledger Bar. Take the elevator to Floor 2, and you won't miss it. The vibe is classy and fun, and it doesn't feel like a hotel bar. I can't wait to come back here, even when its not cold. Secluded against the mezzanine, Ledger has a modern, rustic vibe accented with deep wood elements and interesting glass lighting fixtures. When the sun goes down, the dim lighting creates a really sleek atmosphere. The seating is limited, which is legitimately the only downfall. The drinks at Ledger are strong, and completely worth being a little pricy. Try the Bees Knees (gin + local honey!), and don't be shy to ask the bartender for suggestions from their extensive cocktail menu. They know what they're doing! read more

I recently came to Ledger Bar with a party of 11 to kick off a bachelorette evening. We received FABULOUS service from the two bartenders at Ledger and felt very well taken care of by them. Food-wise all the girls seemed to enjoy their meals (favorite was the cheese board and the shrimp & pancetta flatbread). Drink-wise, the bartenders were great and offered off-menu creations when we had a taste for something different. The space itself was small and intimate with live music. Which was the vibe we wanted for our night...to be able to hear each other and actually talk. For those reasons above, I am giving Ledger Bar 5 stars. I almost dinged it a star because of a big snafu with the Metropolitan at the 9's event planner, but that isn't Ledger Bar's fault. Nutshell, we had "coordinated" with the Metropolitan planner for months, then 1) had our initial reservation at their Vault space canceled by her late in the game and 2) once we decided to roll with their Ledger space as a substitute she assured us she would give us a point of contact there and apology champagne. Upon arrival it was pretty clear that no heads up was given to the Ledger bartenders and basically if we had all just rolled up to the hotel spontaneously that evening we would have had the same result. While attending the Short Sweet Film Fest this weekend, we stopped in for a drink and a bite. Wow! The house Cabernet, B-Side out of Napa, was delish. So smooth and velvety to start with just enough tannin to touch a Cab but not give you cottonmouth. The Charcuterie board was elegantly presented and easily managed by my husband and I. A nice relaxed "barrister" type atmosphere with elegant rustic accents like chunk granite coffee tables and leather club chairs. Beautiful view out the front window of The "9" of the red brick Schofield across the street. (On my bucket list). All framed by the big crystal chandeliers from the lobby. We were excited to try out the Ledger Bar per the good yelp reviews.. unfortunately we were very disappointed. My sister ordered a lobster Mac & Cheese and the lobster Mac was chewy and you couldn't cut it with a fork. The other three entrees we had were mediocre. The cocktail list on the menu isn't updated and they cannot make the first four drinks listed - and they did not know how to make a simple gin fizz. The reason I gave the three stars is because of the atmosphere and decor. read more
