Service was not good, especially given the baroness of the restaurant. Food was overpriced for the quality. We order breakfast which was fine, but just that. The pancakes were very good though. My salad (The New Orleans Grilled Chicken Salad) was served in a three day stale taco bowl with half a bag of Winn Dixie brand shredded sandwich lettuce and a measly helping of underseasoned chicken breasts that left me unsatisfied much like FEMA'S response to Katrina. Great food great service. As a professional chef I know the biscuits were bought from Sysco or us Foods. The gravy was a mix. The pancake is a mix. But the food was prepared really well steak was perfect potatoes were perfect. We will be back for another experience. The servers are all working very hard and as well the young manager at the front desk. Very busy on Sunday afternoon. Our server was prompt and to the point. Our drinks were refilled in the timely fashion. The bathrooms could've used a little work but they were busy what are you expect during rush hour. Overall a great experience and I will return for the steak and eggs. Also the kitchen staff was jovial and laughing together which was very refreshing. The two women in the back running line seem to enjoy each other's company and able to handle all the tickets being thrown at them in a timely fashion. Eggs were cooked perfect white toast cook perfect steak cooked perfectly. It was both juicy and well seasoned. The came out and said hi when the rush died down. They saw us looking at them and smiling. I was telling my girlfriend how it was refreshing to see two tough women in the kitchen runnin the show and at least laughing and enjoying their hard work. Waitresses on every visit were very nice and courteous. Not their fault the food is not as good as it used to be, as slow to get as it's always been, or that the bathrooms are always filthy. Food is good, I liked the grits. Service was ok. Nothing to brag about. We had breakfast. But the place is filthy! The ceilings are covered with dust. You don't even want to touch the bathroom stall doors. The floors are so slippery from too much cleaning solution I seriously was afraid I would slip. Even the entry door was so dirty I used my arm to open it. I liked the soft country music they were playing. But it's called The Big Easy. If I were an out of towner I would expect to hear New Orleans music, or some zydeco. I won't be taking any of my friends or out of town guest here for sure. read more

I found this place to be exactly what I expected it to be; a decent place to have breakfast with a typical "greasy spoon" style menu. The dining area presents as very clean and well kept. My waitress was polite, cheerful and attentive. I had their breakfast plate with eggs, hash browns, wheat toast and smoked sausage. All was good and nothing was overly greasy like you find in most "greasy spoon" places. While everything was good, nothing was impressive. As compared to similar places in Slidell, I felt the pricing was on the high side. My ticket was $13.00. read more

This is typical diner, serving items from breakfast to dinner all day long. The establishment is a little dated but clean. The servers are great and very polite. The cook during my visit was a little over zealous with cooking my order. The waitress gave us another order of the kid's breakfast. The food was ok, nothing to rave about our complain, it was delicious. I ordered the battered steak, eggs with toast and homefries. I just realized 8 hours later, they didn't bring out my home fries, they have me regular French fries. The steak was tasty and I would order it again but I don't think everyone would agree with my taste buds. The steak was like that Salisbury steak they served in school, coated with a seasoned flour based batter. The gravy was the basic white breakfast gravy. The eggs didn't seem real, it tasted like military chowhall powdered eggs mixed with real eggs. The fries were ok, the oil needs to be changed. I also ordered a coffee which tasted good. Horrible service. Been here twice. The first time the food was okay but our server was rude. She wasn't just slow or new but she had a nasty attitude the whole time. Decided to give it another chance a few years later. We walked in and waited to be seated. Nobody greeted us or anything. We stood there for a few minutes waiting for someone to seat us or at least acknowledge us but nothing. Keep in mind there were at least three employees that looked directly at us and looked away. Eventually we went up to the counter and asked if they were seating people. The girl at the counter gave some excuse about having to buss tables (which is completely fine). The problem is not that we would have had to wait for a table; the problem is that we were not greeted even after standing there for minutes and that nobody let us know that they would be with us shortly or anything. Don't recommend anyone coming here unless you want nasty attitudes and blank stares from employees with your meal. read more

I literally never write reviews. I try to come here every time I pass through town. I come in an hour to an hour and a half before close most times, which is still enough time to cook food. They usually state that "we're about to close," to which I always inform them of the time and they offer a solution of only getting a cold plate like a sandwich. Same two women every time, lazy at their jobs. Or perhaps it's the restaurant itself that tells them to stop working at that time? I doubt it though. This place is reasonably priced. I ordered the shrimp and catfish platter. My shrimp was pretty good but my catfish was average. Today was the worst experience I have ever had at Big Easy Diner. We have been going to this diner for many years and a snot nose cashier line attendant, I assume is what he is, has ruined it for me and my family. The waitresses are very sweet and have been there for a long time. They have always been great and friendly. Today people came in after us, MANY I might add, ate and left. I asked the waitress a few times about our order. The final time she said the counter guy would not answer her or let her check on our food. She told me I should go up and ask. I went and explained that we have been waiting for approximately 50 minutes. He told me food is cooked to order. I explained that people after us have finished eating and are leaving. He, more-less, told me the food will come when it does and to just wait for it. He did not offer an apology for the extreme delay. His only comeback was to be rude.
