Agh. 2 stars for food. 5 stars for service. Ambiance is very chill. But I return to restaurants for food and I won't be returning here. The waitress we had was amazing. Very sweet and accommodating. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. There is great outdoor seating. Looked very dark inside though. My friends seem to like the cocktails. They're very pretty and inventive. I don't drink so I ordered 2 entrees, the okonomiyaki and chicken tenders. The okonomiyaki had a piece of foi gras on top. And waaaaay too much sauce. It was swimming in okonomiyaki sauce. It should be crispy but was rubbery and overpowered by the sauce. The foi gras was low quality and stringy. I couldn't finish it. The chicken tenders were so greasy! Usually tempura fried things are actually less greasy but I don't know how they managed this fry. It was glistening. Also hard to finish. The okonomiyaki is overpriced since it had the foi gras on top. I also had a piece of my friends broccoli side and was not impressed. Everything is badly seasoned and too salty. read more

I really enjoyed having a peaceful afternoon on the porch of Better luck tomorrow. The weather was perfect, and the drinks were fabulous. I had 2 different gin mixed drinks. One was the Meyer lemon Frappe, and the other is called the salty cat. Both were so refreshing, and the fact that they left a water bottle was just as great. I didn't know what to order, and it seemed like the menu contained a ' not so ordinary' bar menu. I opted to try some apps just to try it out. The service was good, but I feel like it took a bit long for me to order, but I attribute it to the menu transitioning time between brunch and the afternoon menu. I hadn't had oysters in a while, so I tried the seasonal fresh oysters, which were great, the pickled veggie dish with cheese, and some corn on the Cob. I was pleasantly satisfied yet not overwhelmingly full. I had such a great low key experience listening to my podcasts and some great treats. A must try for a good weather afternoon! read more

I want to like this place, I'm so sorry I don't. It has so much wonderful potential and I'm sure tons of people like it. But I'm here to throw in my 2 cents in hopes it'll improve for others. We went on a weekend night expecting hussle and bustle and were grateful to get a table outside. Problem is, we couldn't have sat inside even if there was a table because it was so loud- echoey. I think our waitress was having a bad day and looked unhappy to see us and gave us the wrong check at the end. It happens, that's ok. The part that sticks out though was the food: I just don't want to eat there again. Brussel sprouts were the best part- I do recommend those. The fried pickles were too fried- do you know what I mean? They were super thin, barely there pickles, mostly batter. But the weird quesadilla was the real downer- it had a very tangy, bitter flavor. "Unpleasant" is the word that comes to mind. It's unfortunate. The drinks were amazing though. It's just that I don't want to sit and drink without food so it's not going to work for me. I love the concept of the patio furniture and house. In practice, it's a little grungy and there are bugs. Not ideal. So I'm sorry to say this just isn't it for me and I wouldn't recommend. A perfect Saturday Bunch spot. Decided to go into Houston to meet my son for lunch. We wanted a different, fun place and look @ the Houston Top 100 list and decided on Better Luck Tomorrow. Ok, so please know as others had stated the parking lot is small here as is in most places in this area. We arrived around 11:25am for a Saturday lunch so plenty of spaces for parking. They have several spots outside with a few tables inside or seating at the bar, we picked a corner table which was perfect for the 3 of us. So the process here is walk in find a spot to sit and scan the menu with your phone. A server will come around to take your order and answer questions. Please note on Saturday no lunch menu only brunch menu. We decided to get a sausage breakfast sandwich each, hangover hash browns for the table along with griddled pancakes for the table. And we each got a continental breakfast drink which is bourbon based and is high in alcohol... great Saturday brunch. This is a nice place for brunch, the service is nice and the food is great. I waited until the end of the day to write this review because I wanted to consider my words careful. I have first hand knowledge of what it takes to run an excellent restaurant. I do not take what I must say lightly. Unfortunately, my experience at BLT today was not good at all. We took some very dear friends of ours who absolutely loved their culinary experience... Thank you for that. However, because I have experienced and have come to expect excellent service, I was disappointed. My food was over seasoned (forgivable by the way). Most importantly, the attitudes of the staff was the worst I have experienced in a while. Please consider reminding your staff that they should treat people with kindness and hospitality. No one should ever feel like you as a server or staff member are bothered by any request. Customer service covers a multitude of food sin... There are thousands of great places to eat in Houston. I am sad that BLT as a great concept has missed what makes good restaurants great. As of today, I will stop recommending BLT. I do not expect the restaurant leadership to care about one person's opinion. Just remember the effect of a small pebble dropped into a body of still water. Wow I love this place! Best happy hour I've seen anywhere - weekdays before 5pm, 1/2 off all drinks! They have lots of patio/outdoor seating with very chill/laid back vibes. Service is always very helpful and attentive. They have a large cocktail selection that (I think) rotates because they didn't have the lychee drink that I had last time. I absolutely loved this place! Stopped here for some drinks after brunch and decided to give the avocado margarita a try. Best thing I have ever tasted!!! I ended up drinking that the entire time I was there. I wish I would have tried something else but omg it was just too good. Service was slow ish but we were laid back and not in a hurry. If you're rushing, this might not be the place. They are mostly patio seating which is perfect during these times. More like a 3 1/2. We've been doing dog patios lately. With Jade, a 70lb St Bernard/Husky/GSD mix. She's been afraid of strangers ever since we found her as an 8 week old puppy so I thought I'd try to get her used to being around people. (she's 5 now) We went to Better Luck Tomorrow early in the afternoon, there was hardly anyone there. Place is tiny. Tiny house, tiny parking lot. Adequate sized patio given the size of the venue. Rating a little low cause the food was a little strange? I got the Korean Chop Salad which was a pretentious take on Korean food (my current passion) so to say it wasn't very Korean at all. BF was fixated on breakfast so he got the sausage sandwich (kept saying he wanted it w/o the sausage I'm like dude, you're missing the point). I noticed it was undercooked but he was okay with that. Food was 'meh' except for the fries. Add-on fries were $2 so I ordered and she was like would you like these flavored fries so I got the pecorino and black pepper which were $7 extra! But oh my they must have been the best fries I've ever had in my entire life. I should make it a 4 star review just on the fries. Yeah, changing it from 3 stars to 4. The drinks however were very tasty. But small. Small to match the venue I suppose. Trying to recall what we got, I think it was the salted melon ranchwater for me and the salty cat for BF (who always insists he doesn't want a drink and I always order him one anyway). Rating higher also because the staff there was so amazing! I messed up and ordered a brunch item when it wasn't brunch and they were real understanding about changing our order. They were lovely and nice and attentive and loved the dog and gosh they were just so wonderful. But. This place is not close to us and difficult to get to because of routing and traffic. Came here during happy hour for half off all booze, and loved the experience! The staff were all friendly and helpful! My friend ordered the Hurricane, it's not on the menu but I did try it and enjoyed it. However x on the other hand I ordered the Soul Session, after asking for a suggestion of something refreshing and sweet. The drinks are inventive, delicious and cleverly named (train your granny, cold-fashion, and a sin and tonic...yes please). Easily enjoyed bar side at this cozy neighborhood-feel neon bar, it's easy to see why this place attracts Heights locals and beyond. The patio is spacious and the parking is...well atleast they have their own parking lot, but you know what the real gem of BLT is? The food! Don't get me wrong, I've always received amazing service, and for this type of establishment, that certainly deserves a few snaps (seated on the patio we had a waiter and everything), but last visit, arriving during dinner hour, we were starving, so much so that we were willing to settle for a makeshift bar food dinner. But boy, we're we in for a surprise....these are not your simple call it in bar bites but instead what bar bites aspire to be when they grow up. This ish is delicious! The Brussels sprout appetizer was an elevated version of the restaurant favorite, large enough to share amongst the four of us. The cauliflower was equally impressive. The pizza looking dish that is "not a pizza" was fried to perfection. It came crispy, flavorful and delicious. Carrots on a pizza sounds like a mistake but trust me when I say it's not! The lamb belly was surprisingly savory. Everything else we ordered was equally impressive, but deserves a re-review upon sober mind. Next time, we'll come out on a daily specials night (like pups in the patio Monday, or steak night), or explore their happy hour, 12-5pm where they offer half off drinks. Either way, you can't go wrong with this place, just be aware that you may drop a pretty penny...but honestly so long as they provide great food, great service and great booze, I'm not complaining. read more

I passed by a few months ago when my friend came into town and it was still hot around that time so we did sit in the patio because happy hour it was super crowded inside. This is definitely not a place for large groups/parties. I did enjoy my beverages and also my food ! I ordered a hamburger and fries which was tasty! The patio is super cute for the fall weather but definitely not for the summer time( which in houston is pretty much almost year round) I would suggest them maybe having fans to keep out because it got to the point we couldn't take the heat and sweating so that was the reason we left. I just left BLT, somewhere I usually come but today was not good. There was only one sever that was working which is something I blame management for. Although it is a small place , their brunch is always busy so they needed another person on the floor. Not a manager in sight though. My order did not come out correct, I sent a food item back that yet again was not cooked properly. Other things from our order were incorrect but i chose to not send them back because it was chaotic and our waitress was catching an attitude. As someone who is in the service industry i completely understand the need to get fussy when things aren't going our way. However, bad service and a bad attitude makes it hard to leave a good tip. I love coming to Better Luck Tomorrow since they re-vamped the menu and did some renovations around the place. The everyday burger has a perfectly crispy, yet juicy patty with all the right fixins. My only complaint is that the patty was extremely salty. The melon and priscutto was delightful. It was a great serving size and there are little dollops of ricotta to eat along with it. We had the bloody mary and the Woke Up Like This. Both cocktails were good ‍. We sat outside and thankfully there is a nice shaded canopy with a good amount of seating. I can't believe I had been sleeping on BLT for so long! They were running an Italian Beef special based on the Bear TV show and that was just the push I needed! Everything was great. They have an expansive patio with plenty of shade and tables. I was also pleasantly surprised that they have waiters. Our waitress seemed a bit overloaded, but we still had great service. To start, the cocktails were excellent. I had a Spa Day and 8 O'Clock Somewhere. Both were very refreshing and tasted great - exactly what I wanted while sitting out on the warm patio. The 8 O'Clock Somewhere was my favorite though. My husband ordered the La Femme Brulee and a Creamy Avocado Margarita. Both were great too. The Creamy Avocado Margarita was very different and worth trying, but I would stick to the classic in the future. For food, we shared the Party Melt and Italian Beef. Both tasted amazing. The Party Melt was shockingly good. I was expecting a standard patty melt, but this was next level, with the cheese crusted toast, juicy burger, caramelized onions, and delicious sauce. The Italian Beef was also really good and should be a permanent addition to the menu. My only complaint is that it was pretty spicy and It wasn't "wet" enough - I wish It came with a side of Au Jus! My friend and I really enjoyed this place! It has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. I recommend getting the garlic bread with marinara sauce; so yummy and only $5! We also got fried pickles and the pasta special for Tuesday. Overall, very satisfied with the food! The service was pretty decent, however slow since I think one person was serving the whole outdoor area. We only talked to our waiter I think 3 times, even though we wanted to order drinks, but by the time he came to us again, our food was out and we no longer were interested in the drinks. I can't help but write a glowing review for this place. I found it on Yelp when I was looking for a nearby spot for date night. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with lots of cozy corners to choose from. I was thrilled to see Buffalo Trace Kosher on the bar menu, one of my favorite whiskeys. Some days it's on point, other days you will wait what feels like an eternity for service. If there's one area they need to get back to the basics on, it's this. When they first opened we never had an issue. Cost It's market rate if you will. Cocktails are prepared better and more consistently than most spots for the same price though. The best $6 cocktail I've ever had! Happy hour during the week before 5pm. The only thing is the space inside is super small and there's not enough fans outside. The inside was full so we had to sit outside and it was quite warm even while sitting under the umbrellas. We stopped in for a quick afternoon drink and an order of fries and service was quite slow.
