Ayer Coffee is located in the middle of a Tustin small strip mall plaza. It's a pretty small shop with very limited seating inside and usually a line waiting outside. I came in the middle of the day on a weekday around 1PM where the line wasn't too bad but grew quickly right after I left. You wait outside until you're called in to order with a menu waiting for you at the window. Ayer has a variety of coffee drinks, but I was here for the matcha which they conveniently number in order along with seasonal/special drinks. As always for me, I order the standard iced matcha latte without any syrups. Service was super kind all around. Getting the drink took about 5 minutes. All-around, I can see why people enjoy the matcha, even at the base drink level. The size is a good standard cup for about $7, and the matcha is very noticeable without being too grassy / earthy. Today we stopped by to grab an Italian sandwich, and I just cannot believe they served me bread that was so old and dry - it would have been perfect for croutons, but definitely nothing like what we had at the Taste of Orange. The bread was so dry I had to dress it up with some olive relish to eat it - I don't expect when I pay $31 for a sandwich and chai iced tea latte to get home and have to start working on my sandwich. I accept some responsibility for this, because honestly, who goes to a coffee shop for a sandwich.
