Philz coffee is my favorite coffee spot in OC! I can't rave enough about it. Their coffees always get me wired and locked in. The coffee is delicious when served sweet and creamy and the staff is always nice to adjust your drink if you don't like it. I typically order the Iced Mint Mojito as its fresh, sweet, delicious and comes with fresh mint! This time I opted for the new seasonal Cashew Cocoa. This drink was also delicious, but a little too sweet for me, and if you don't like cashew milk I would opt for a different beverage. The pastries are on the sweeter side, so keep that in mind if you order the almond croissant or cinnamon roll, but the flavor is there. The blueberry muffin was probably my favorite as it was so moist and paired well with my coffee. This Orange establishment is nice and offers games (like most Philz') so you and your friends/family can play, while enjoying a coffee or pastry. The company even offers used coffee ground to take home for your garden - a full recycle moment! The staff is always pleasant and friendly, and each barista usually has a name tag in front of their station. I've given Philz Coffee multiple chances, but at this point it's just frustrating and disappointing. The biggest issue is the customer service. Every time I come in, there are 5 to 6 employees behind the counter, but more than half of them are just standing around talking and laughing. It creates a distracting environment for the few people who are actually trying to work, and it shows in how slow and disorganized everything feels. What really pushed me to write this review is how often the app is completely inaccurate. I'll get a notification saying my drink is ready, only to show up and find that it hasn't even been started yet. Meanwhile, the person who is supposed to be making drinks is busy chatting with coworkers instead of focusing on orders. This isn't a one-time thing either. It's become a pattern, and nothing seems to improve. Long waits, lack of urgency, and poor communication make the whole experience frustrating, especially when you're paying premium prices for coffee. I used to enjoy coming here, but the repeated lack of professionalism and attention to customers has really turned me off. Hopefully management steps in and addresses this, because right now it feels like customers are not a priority at all. read more

I've been going to this Philz location for years, and I really wish I could say things have improved--but the cleanliness has been an ongoing issue that never seems to get addressed. The floors and tables are filthy, even early in the morning before any real rush. It's not just a few crumbs here and there; there's visible dust and grime that looks like it's been building up for a long time. I know the building is older, but it still shouldn't feel this unclean. What worries me even more is that the back‑of‑house area doesn't look particularly sanitary either. Having worked in a coffee shop myself, I'm used to seeing staff rotate through simple cleaning tasks--sweeping, wiping down tables, quick mops between waves of customers. At this location, I've never once seen anyone doing that kind of upkeep. The staff themselves are friendly and helpful, and I don't fault them personally. But compared to some of Philz's other locations, this one feels like it's been left behind. It's disappointing to see a place I've liked for so long in this kind of condition. read more

Convenient quick and go coffee shop that's open early enough for me to grab before work. I like how I can order it in the app and it'll be ready for me to pick up when I get there. Not much to say about actual customer service since I just grab and go. When I first tried Philz years ago, I would always go for their Mint Mojito because it combines a perfect mix between creamy and sweet with a touch of mint. Then, I moved on to their Honey Haze with the philtered soul cold brew because again it had that sweet taste that I like. From then on, anything with the philtered soul cold brew is my cup of tea (or shall I say coffee in this case). This visit, I tried the Tiramisu, which came greatly recommended. I heard people say to try it medium creamy and medium sweet, which was perfect for me. I have a sweet tooth, so it wasn't overly sweet and not watery-- it was just right. I also tried their pistachio croissant that had pistachio-almond cream and pistachio topping. It was good for a quick bite alongside my coffee. My next coffee try will have to be the Cashew Cocoa, so will definitely be back soon. read more

My fav Philz location, because of the cute ambiance/how friendly the staff is and how the baristas always get my drink right. It's also the closest one to me. Side note: Will we ever get a Tustin Philz location :( I usually get the iced honey haze and it's amazing everytime! This time I believe my baristas name was Karen and she made my drinks perfectly! The only downside to this location is that there's not a lot parking and it's in a busy area with lots of businesses so the street parking can be hard to. I love coming here before work. I haven't been on a weekend before, until today. I normally order ahead on their app when I'm off to work. It's simple to use and convenient. There's not many people during the week when I go, well that's because I come near opening hours. The weekend however I got here around 8:50am and the place is poppin. Love that for this place! I love how organized it is and it smells amazing in here and fresh. The parking can be a bit tricky. If you order ahead there are about 6 spaces but all were almost used up. Thankfully I did find a parking in the street. I normally just get the coffee here, and my go to recently has been their Philtered Soul Cold Brew. It has hazelnut, maple, and caramel. It's tastes so yummy! And it's also local which is great! I've never had an issue here so I'm happy. It's a decent place to come for a little pick me up and sit with a couple friends, and/ or walk the circle super nearby. read more

I haven't gone to a Philz in a long time, so visiting here was a real treat! This is such a cute location--it looks like it used to be a garage then converted to a coffee shop. There is seating both indoors and out; although, it did take a few to get a spot. And the indoor seating is very tight, so not the best place for catching up. What really stands out about Philz is the customer care--the barista that took the order was very patient and the barista that made the drink was so sweet. They both were lovely and really great to interact with. We only ordered drinks and I tried the tiramisu. It was sweet but delicious and absolutely a once in a while treat. It was creamy and so satisfying--I'd highly recommend. The only area where this shop falls a little short is the merch--it looks very thrown together and sparse. Despite the popular location due to proximity to The Circle and Chapman University's campus, this Philz gets you in and out fairly quickly! The indoor is quite spacious with plenty of seating available. My go-to order is the Iced Coffee Rose...extra sweet, of course! 5/5 always, never disappoints! My favorite part of my experience is always my interaction with the lovely staff, particularly Nadia! She is the sweetest, most personable and professional individual and I'm glad this location has a lead like her! Would 100% recommend this location! read more

I have been meaning to come and visit this place for some time now, got a gift card for my birthday recently and took the chance to finally give it a try! This place was so cute and did not disappoint, the overall environment and customer service was great!! I'm fully caffeine free right now and they had delicious options for me! I ordered the Berry Bloom and they even had samples at the register to try. My husband had the Arabic brewed coffee and said it was good but he should have added an extra shot of espresso as it wasn't as strong as he had hoped. We also ordered pastries, the chocolate and almond croissants, I wish the chocolate croissant had more chocolate in it but it was still good! One thing I loved that not most places do is that they used the same cups for either cold or hot drinks. I love how sustainable that is! Not only for the staff but for the environment. Came here for pastries. The place is fairly busy in the mornings but the staff handled it pretty well. They are quite helpful if you have questions. They kept the place clean as well. I got a plain croissant, blueberry cream cheese pastry, and cinnamon pastry. Plain croissant- Served warm. Nice and flaky. Perfect if you want to add cheese and cold cuts. Blueberry cream cheese pastry- This was my favorite! The cream cheese center is rich and custardy with hints of blueberry. The pastry is crisp and flaky. Yay--my 100th review of 2025, and it's for my fav coffee brand, Philz! I love this location's setup with the indoor seating and cute outdoor patio. Parking in DT Orange can be tough on weekends. Chapman University is nearby, and I've even seen painting classes happening in the promenade. Lots of families and students walk around DT Orange on weekends, so it has a lively vibe. I enjoy pretty much everything on their menu lol. I tried the seasonal Caramel Banana Brew, and it tastes just how it sounds! My barista told me this location actually created the iconic Honey Haze--and that he even has the original promo poster from 2021/2022. I've had the Honey Haze before; it's sweet and refreshing, but different than the Mint Mojito. Honestly, I've never met a mean Philz barista--they're always smiling and delivering a cup of joy. Honestly I park at the free metrolink parking area & walk over 'cause I don't believe in paying for parking to get coffee or food. Philz was a great place to meet up with some old friends, because it was centrally located to all of us. We grabbed one of the tables on the patio and enjoyed the perfect Southern California weather. I'm a simple lady, so I got a small cup of the medium roast, black. You can't just order "a cup of coffee" here, though. You have to pick from multiple roasts, and then within that category, there are options. The kind woman behind the register pointed to the menu and I was able to select a coffee that I loved, which had notes of toffee. My children got a chocolate milk and a hot chocolate (they were on either ends of the temperature spectrum that day, apparently). They both loved their beverages. One thing to note is that this Philz has a very small parking lot. The parking lot is right next to the patio seating, so several times as people were backing out, were were holding our breath and hoping they weren't going to run into us. If you can't find parking in the parking lot, though, there is plenty of street parking. read more

I usually go to this location, I've been recently getting the tiramisu iced coffee. I got medium sugar today and it tasted totally different from the other times I have gotten it!!! It was very bitter and had chunks of something, I could definitely taste the creamer but not a lot of coffee. I've noticed that this location is very dependent on who is making the drink. Its always hit or miss for me. I also noticed that it was quite busy on this particular trip so maybe that had something to do with it. I do go to this location the most since it is convenient, hopefully they can stay consistent with their recipes across all the baristas because when its made right I always enjoy it. read more

Whaaat? I haven't rated Philz Coffee yet? My husband and I are huge fans of Philz. We don't live in CA anymore, but we order Philz and have it shipped to our home on the East Coast. DRINKS/FOOD: Where do I start? MINT MOJITO is for the beginners, it's delicious but I've moved on to less sweeter things. The GINGER SNAP was a bit too spicy for me. The PHILTERED SOUL COLD BREW is exquisite if you want to keep it simple but strong. The HONEY HAZE (less sweet) is my go-to! Years ago, they had burritos at this location and my goodness they were surprisingly delicious. Bring them back!! SERVICE: This is a super busy spot, so the folks who work here just focus on getting the drinks done as fast as possible. I spent the Summer in California this year and visited this location easily once or twice a week, and none of the baristas ever asked me if I liked my drink. There was no friendly banter. :( I miss that. But the folks at the cash register were always nice and asked if my pups needed water. ATMOSPHERE: Busy and loud. Finding parking is always tough, but I put up with it for the drinks. I park way out in the structure sometimes just to get coffee. Do I have a problem? Perhaps. I like when they have their big door open and the fresh California air comes in :) It's so nice!! Will I come back? DUH. I know Philz has a devoted following, but as someone who pulls espresso shots at home, I have to be honest: this just didn't work for me. It tasted like they made a hot cappuccino (foam and all) and then threw ice in it, which left the texture weirdly airy but also watery. That also left the flavors leaning way too sweet, with the caramel coming through in a saccharine punch and the cardamom being a quiet whisper. Maybe this was just an off day, but for the price, I expected something smoother and well balanced. The baristas were kind though and did take time to really get to know me and my day. read more

This was my first Philz visit and I had an incredible time! Our barista was so sweet and personable and she had great recommendations for me after hearing how I typically like my coffee. I was a little overwhelmed with the amount of choices for sweetness as I'm not sure how sweet I really like my coffee, but she was super helpful. To my memory there wasn't a ton of available seating- as we were in very close proximity to Chapman University- but I'm sure if we waited around we would have been able to sit there! But sadly, I'm never going to get to enjoy it again because I've now committed the next five years of my life to circling the Orange Circle trying to find a parking spot. Maybe by then, I'll finally snag one and be able to try the mint mojito again--if I haven't aged out of coffee by then. Listen, I get it--Orange Circle is charming, historic, and perpetually crowded, but your parking situation is brutal. Let's just say they're a lesson in patience and the futility of hope.
