In this day and age everything you buy mostly comes from online shopping. Coming to "Best Buy" now I see why. The parking lot is huge so it's easy to find a spot. Coming inside I noticed how large this place is, you could get lost if your not paying attention. Everything is organized and in its place. It's amazing how many state of the art TV's "Best Buy" offers. But that's as far as the amazement goes, it's only surface. I needed a bigger hard drive for my Play Station 4 so you figure "Best Buy" has it all........right? Wrong! When I asked because I didn't see any hard drive my size on the shelves the employee checked for me in the back. After a couple of minutes the gentleman came back and informed me they didn't have my size hard drive in the store. He decided to check near by "Best Buys" for me in order to track one down. No luck there. Then he tried to up-sell me on a hard drive the Play Station 4 doesn't even support. Good job. I drove half hour to get to the store in the snow to only go back home and order it on Amazon. I'm pretty sure it's my last trip to "Best Buy." read more

And most are friendly and patient (although I have run into some that are not either and that is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5). Washer machine delivered and installed by their geek squad. Machine was dead. Geek squad called their company and told us someone would get back to us. Nobody did so we called there isn't anything they can do for 48 hours. Rep Yvette was rude clearly doesn't like her job. They may not be able to replace for a week and seemed not to care that I don't have a washer because their 2 techs took my old one. Horrible customer service and terrible geek squad service. Do yourself a favor and avoid purchasing anything there. After the 14 days have come and gone they don't remember you. I had to call approximately 9 times over 3 hours to get anyone to answer the phones there. A very well-respected couple in my community and my personal friends regret buying a large appliance there and had nothing but trouble. Finally, Anyway an employee picked up the phone and told me not to buy their own signature brand INSIGNIA products, and I quote "not to buy anything cheap there and expect it to work" and he laughed so hard he most likely had to make a quick trip to the toilet. You're on your own. If you know exactly what you want and where you want to get it and the only person you have to deal with is the cashier, you'll have a passable experience. But if you need any customer service at all -- you'll have a better experience having a dentist pull out your teeth with needle-nose pliers and no anesthetic. At best, I've gotten apathetic, 'not-my-department' level of help after waiting forever just to get even the slightest bit of attention. At worst, I've had 'managers' be openly hostile and borderline illegal in their behavior (not honoring a sale price is fraud, folks). Up to today I've only gone to Best Buy if, for whatever reason, I couldn't wait the two days to get the product from Amazon Prime. Now, I won't go back. Ever. I'll wait the two days. It's just not worth the grief. And if you think a store should treat you as something other than dirt, you won't go either. read more

It's a best buy. I've had very helpful experiences here, I've had experiences where I couldn't find anyone to help me. As long as you find a nice salesperson, they will definitely go out of their way to help you. It's a nice and big store, and generally is in stock of whatever I'm looking for. I actually found a phenomenal deal on a dishwasher here a few months ago, it was on sale, and I used it to get a price match at Home Depot! Overall, it's a standard Best Buy. Not so good! Last week I woke up to a blue screen on my Dell computer. I often go to Best Buy for their electronics and have passed by the Geek Squad counter a few times. The employees always seem friendly and nice. This time was unfortunately different. I waited over 5 minutes for the guy at the counter to finish talking to his buddy and come over to help me. When he did, I immediately was sorry that I went there. I took a few CS classes in college, and I know my way around a computer. After hearing my story, he immediately tells me that Windows needs to be reinstalled and then spends the next 10 minutes trying to convince me to buy a new computer when this one was only 7 months old. I like how he can troubleshoot without even turning the machine on! Another of his coworkers then stops by and they begin discussing some movie while I am standing there waiting for him to look at it. Finally he comes to me and tells me that it would be $399 including backing up my data, even though I told him I have all my data on a flash drive. While I have no problem with the Best Buy at this location, and in fact, have had many positive experiences with the staff, the customer service provided both on the phone and online is abysmal. Yesterday, I spent 2 1/2 hours talking to five different people trying to get a simple question answered about a mailing that was sent to me after an iPhone purchase but was lost by the post office. The conversation began by an agent repeatedly asking me what was in the letter so she could direct me to the appropriate place (she never quite grasped the fact that I was calling because I DIDN'T KNOW what was in the envelope since I only saw its image on the USPS Informed Delivery app) to another agent who truly was trying to help but could only parrot what his manager was telling him via instant message. She, by the way, refused to speak to me and told me to simply call the post office! All I wanted to do was to email an image from the USPS app to someone who might be able to identify whether this mailings junk or related to my purchase but was told that this was impossible. This is a review for our actual experience with the process of ordering our washer and dryer. I have never been more happy with the customer service experience that James ( supervisor) offered us. I manage in retail also and since buying a condo recently we've had loads of horrible experiences. This one was extremely pleasant. He made us feel comfortable and unrushed. Explained every question we asked with ease and was very upbeat. Was thorough in verifying all of our information multiple times. I am appalled at the experience me and my spouse had today at Best Buy in Patchogue. We had bought something that was opened box believing the description on the box. But he inspected it at home, he realized it wasn't what they had sold him. You can only tell when you connect it unfortunately. So naturally we went to return it. My spouse decided to honest and tell them the issue, mind you we had 14 days to return this item, we showed up an hour or 2 later. The cashier decided to check and ask her asst manager. Well that asst. manager looked at my spouse like he did something wrong. I knew when I saw her face she was going to accuse us of stealing. I got that feeling and decided to see if we could find what we actually wanted to buy, even if it meant new in the box for more $$$. But we didn't find what we were looking for, so we needed a full return. The young cashier was ready to return the item to us, then that awful racist asst manager came back with her dirty look giving us some corporate speech as to why she will not take back the item, so I said to her "just say what you mean, you are accusing of stealing, right"!? Eventually she offered that we speak to her manager. So we waited and waited, but no manger showed up. They were watching us from the door but never showed their face! I was angry! Mind you too my husband has brown skin and even though we are in our 40's we look very young. We just had a very stressful few months too with my cancer diagnoses and recent surgery. So I was in no mood of being accused of stealing from a store that we've been shopping at for years and years! Also my spouse is a nurse, imagine what his 2- 3 yrs has been like with covid and recently taking care of me from my surgery. We would have no time to think up a scheme to steal something and waste more time returning it! Fast forward in the end after me screaming and yelling they decided to take it back. But the manager never showed their face. Watch out for (asst. manager?) Diane from Geek Squad she appears to be racist along with the other managers. Yes I am throwing the race card out because I believe if it were someone else returning this item (caucasian) they would have no issues returning this item. Our only mistake was we were too honest, NEVER AGAIN! Plus they lost a long time customer. This was a horrible experience, we were embarrassed, how dare they! This why people go to amazon. read more

Today I had to return a pair of headphones I needed to work from home. The policy is after 15 days, you receive store credit. That was the policy before covid and is still in place. Surely anyone can see that this is ridiculous. We are expected to stay home yet you can't extend your return policy knowing people are finding it increasingly difficult to get to the store. I've been purchasing electronics from this Best Buy in Patchogue since the location opened, literally thousands of dollars over the years (over $5000 in the last 2 years alone). And sad to say I'm going to start bringing my business elsewhere/online. Not even 24hrs ago I purchased a 32" Sharp TV for a game room. Brought it home, pulled it out of the box, plugged it in and the screen turned on as if it was cracked (no physical damage on the exterior of the screen). A little annoyed about having to make another trip there I packaged it back up nice and stopped by on my way after work for an exchange. After being plugged in by the guy in customer service and him calling his manager over I was told, "sorry, nothing we can do. That's physical damage and there's no markings on the box." Really? Not a single thing you can do? Pretty sure if I was going to pull some sort of fast one on Best Buy it wouldn't be over a $200 TV. So after basically being told to kick rocks I walked out with no TV and $200 poorer. Thanks Best Buy but that was the last money you will see from me. read more

Whoever heard of making a reservation over the phone and making up a time just to TALK to someone in the Geek Squad? For the past couple of years the whole process was getting worst and worst. we received 2 E-Mails on our camera that we sent in for repair: one was to pick it up and the other was to call in to discuss something about the camera. We tried calling in, only to get hung up on 3 times!! on the 4th time the rep wrote down our phone number in case we get hung up on. He told us that there was nothing wrong and that we can go and pick up the camera. We went to Best Buy a 1/2 hour later with only 2 people working there. One had his back towards all of us and had no clue that there were some people on line waiting to be serviced on. The other one was so busy that he kept looking all over with a "help me" look on his face. We all waited between 30-45 minutes on that line. Our end result? Our camera was no good, they wouldn't give it back but gave us store credit towards a new one since it was under warrantee. C'mon Geek Squad, It's about time to come up with a new, better system. Change your process. You have good people working with you but you're getting worst and worst. read more

Best Buy Patchogue or Gateway Plaza always seems to have a lot of staff on hand and I get help right away. However, help today came to me in the parking lot. I had hit a pot hole and it tore my car tire apart. I was feet away from my destination of Best Buy. I parked and set about reading the handbook on my new car and tire changing. I was set to try to jack it up when the Geek Squad drove up and offered to change the tire for me. It was not easy with sm. tools and mini tire but they did it in record time and refused a tip. The Patchogue Best Buy deserves ZERO stars, as does the entire company. In October 2021, I brought in a computer and asked the Geek Squad to install a new operating system. They recommended that I purchase a yearly service contract for $200 as well, which I did. When I went to pick up my computer, I found that they had accidentally deleted ten years of material, much of which was related to important business and other matters. The Geek Squad manager offered me restitution for the lost material, but absolutely refused to refund my $200 for the UNUSED service contract that I had JUST purchased. Of course I wasn't going to come to them for service after they had lost my material! I wrote to the corporate office and explained the situation politely and in detail. Corporate also refused to refund the $200, and when I protested- again politely - they said that they had not lost the material after all! They were saying that I lied, although the entire Geek Squad at the store knew otherwise. If they hadn't lost the material, why were they offering me restitution??? So not only did the store lose my important material and insult my integrity; they and their corporate headquarters also refused to follow COMMON BUSINESS PRACTICE by not returning the $200 for an unused item. I find this to be unethical, inexcusable business practice, and I would never buy from or use the services of this company again. read more

After having a horrible experience with a staff member at the Farmingdale Walmart on the phone yesterday, I contacted my local Best Buy and decided I would rather purchase a TV from them. The woman I spoke with was very nice and helpful, but my experience when I got to the store far exceeded my expectations. The gentleman in the TV department looked up the TV I wanted, but only saw that the next level up was available. This was not a frivolous purchase, my son had broken our TV the night before, so I was a little nervous to spend any more on an upgraded TV. He asked me if I would mind waiting a few minutes though so he could personally check his warehouse. I browsed and when he came back he had the exact TV I wanted. He saw that it was inventoried incorrectly as one of the next model up's and grabbed it for me. He then price-matched Walmart's price and helped get the TV to the front of the store. As I waited for my friend to pull up with his van, the salesman also let me know that he looked up my TV and the next version up and the only difference on the new version is that it is 10% brighter. He said that is not much and I was getting a great TV at a great price. I wish I remembered his name because he deserves major recognition. He went above and beyond to help me and make me feel comfortable about my purchase. If any upper management sees this review, I was at the Patchogue location and my transaction was at 6:44pm. I purchased a 65" Vizio E-series TV. Thank you sir, and thank you Best Buy for employing good people who care about their customers. read more

We ordered a washer and dryer and a TV, I must have said two hundred times to the 12 year old that was helping us does it come with the hose to connect to the vent? Yes mam it does he said. Well my washer and dryer arrived today and I have to make another trip to the store to buy the hose that it in fact doesn't come with. Please train your employees. I stopped in to the store about 20 minutes before closing on a week night, and Mitchell in the computer department took the time to help me look at laptops and giving me some good perspective on what's out there. Because he was so helpful and informative, I was able to purchase a laptop a couple days later (at a different Best Buy location, unfortunately), but I'm really thankful for his help in the process and wanted to acknowledge him. read more

Jeremy, Shannon, and Justin we're so nice, accommodating, patient, and extremely knowledgeable with my upgrade/purchase of the new iPhone 5! Verizon must have told me NO to every request and issue I had with upgrading my phone a week early. Everyone of those requests and issues were solved instantly by the 'rock star' team I named above! If you need help with an upgrade or purchasing a new phone, these guys definitely offer great customer service and a pleasurable buying experience overall. I used to love Best Buy. I'd go there and splurge my money when I was younger and had no/minimal bills. I'd get DVDs, games, whatever. The atmosphere of the place was great (Or so it felt), and I actually enjoyed just going there to look around and get out of the house. Fast forward -- I go there MAYBE a few times a year. There's no reason - they were always price gouging on DVDs and other items. To top it off, they stopped giving the local firefighter discount. While it wasn't much at all, it showed their appreciation, and it gave me a reason to shop there. One day I went in to get a router there (Although I could've gotten one much cheaper at another establishment or online) and they said they discontinued the discount. The funny part is there is a P.C. Richards within walking distance - literally. I could run there in like a minute or two, that's how close it is. What do THEY give? Discounts for firefighters. Guess where I went for my new 42" LCD TV? P.C. Richards. I also bought games there, as well as a DVD player for my sister for Christmas. What have I bought from Best Buy lately? I honestly cannot remember the last thing I purchased there. For games I go to the new GameStop right there (They're another story, but I don't frequently buy games like I used to so it's not a huge issue). Anything else I either get at P.C. Richards or Amazon.com. Oh yeah, one last instance - I had gotten my girlfriend a digital camera there as a present. One day it stopped working out of nowhere. It wasn't dropped, nor did it ever come in contact with water. We found out the battery was becoming loose - a problem many people started having. It took well over a month to get it back. Then the SD card started coming loose and Geek Squad wanted to charge us a lot of money to fix it (I forget the figure). Luckily the guy behind the counter was cool (We actually knew him) and he helped us figure out a cheap solution that cost us nothing. Best Buy - maybe if you didn't screw over people in the beginning you would have a bigger customer base still. It reminds me of BlockBuster. read more

Went to best by to get a TV came home with a Samsung 40 in only it was damaged brought it back to the store and they would not return the TV or give us our money back said they would sell us a another tv for half price. When we opened the box the bottom foam was missing and we noticed a crack in the corner they came right out and said we dropped it there was so much damage to this tv we would have had to drop it from the second story. I have heard others complain about there return policy's also when u buy something new u should be able to return or exchange it especially if it is damaged. THIS STORE SUCKS I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN. Thank god we charged it and can now dispute it. They get a fucking 0 rating from me. I recently went to Best Buy to have my iPhone battery replaced. When I got my phone back I noticed that the battery was draining faster than before. When I checked the battery life in the setting it said it was at 85 percent capacity instead of the 100 percent it should be at with a new battery. I am taking the phone back hopefully they put in a new working battery this time. You would think they would run a diagnostic on the phone prior to returning it to me. I am beyond angry and disappointed in Best Buy. I have been a Best Buy customer for more than 10 years. I have purchased many computers, tvs, and video games and have always been a very satisfied customer. Well that ended today. 4 months ago we bought a 55 inch 4K Samsung tv. The price of the tv was $2200 after taxes and installation. We have already paid off $1600 in the short time that we have had the tv, to show that we are indeed good customers. 2 weeks ago while watching a movie, the color went on the tv. The next day the tv wouldn't turn on. Since we had purchased the warranty through Best Buy, we immediately contacted the Best Buy geek squad who walked us through a diagnostic test. They then arranged for a technician to come to the house to service the tv. 4 days later, the technician came to the house and claimed that there is a crack in the screen and that this came from external trauma which isn't covered under the warranty. One can not see a crack from the outside, however , they claim there is a crack and are sure that excludes any warranty covered expense. We are certain that there was no external trauma while the tv was in our house and are unsure how this could be. We were told that like a windshield on a car sustains a crack that later spirals out, a tv screen can sustain the same. Isn't it possible that the tv came to our house damaged and over time the crack worsened , finally affecting the picture? We have spent 2 weeks trying to call the store to speak to a manager, awaiting a call back and nothing. We even called Samsung regarding this matter, but were once again, redirected back to the store. Today, we decided to go to the store to discuss the matter in person. Bottom line, no one wanted to help us. We were told there was nothing further they could do. We have to finish payments on a tv that doesn't work and we need to buy a new tv. Really, that is the best you can do?????? After we stated that we felt that was unacceptable ,we were told the best they could do was take $300 off a new tv, but we would still have to pay off the old tv and then purchase the new one for $1299. Unreal. What happened to the customer is always right? Best Buy sold us a lemon for the price of $2200 and now we are stuck paying for it. I'm disgusted at their lack of responsibility and lack of customer appreciation. I will never purchase another item from them. As a huge company, you should be ashamed of yourself for not honoring your commitment to customer satisfaction. There was absolutely no attempt to rectify this situation. Your technician deemed that there was a crack in the screen, one not seen from the outside, and you immediately blamed the customer. I purchased a refrigerator at the Patchogue store on August 9. It was delivered this past Monday. After the delivery man left I noticed a small thing in the door and the next day I noticed that the doors had become uneven so one refrigerator door was a half an inch higher than the other. I attempted three different times to contact Best Buy customer service and each time was on hold for more than a half hour. Today I went to the store in Patchogue and 2 wonderful sales people tried to assisted me. Thank you Jessica and Linsey for all your efforts They attempted to contact the geek squad to arrange for repair and we were on hold for over an hour and a half. In the end no one picked up the phone so I was offered two choices one I could exchange the refrigerator for a new one with the only model being available costing $250 more or wait an indefinite period of time for a repair person to come to my home and fix the one I have but they would not be able to fix the ding. I chose to purchase a new refrigerator and they will come and take the old (new) one. It was extremely poor customer service and together between home and the store I was on hold for almost 3 hours and still have not yet spoken to customer service representative. read more

I purchased a TV at the Best Buy in NC. I had left my birthday 10 percent coupon at home. The saleswoman at the store said no problem, we could call Best Buy when we got home and have the coupon applied. When I called the Best Buy CS line the first person said alright and connected me to someone else that said no, that cannot be done. Next, I tried to communicate using the chat feature. They said "why don't I return my purchase, bring the coupon and repurchase?" I said because it is a large TV. Best Buy chat would not have a supervisor call me or email back.
