My very good looking Blue Star 30 inch range was never my first choice for a stove in a small narrow-no venting to the outside - kitchen. But, that's the only stove that fit. After making a number of phone calls to various appliance repair companies in my hometown of Greensboro, NC, I was told the stove (a 1981 40" Crown gas range) was too old to repair because parts were probably no longer available since the range had not been made in more than 30 years. I was able to find one independent technician who came out and looked at the burner issue. He confirmed what I had suspected, but was not able to make any repairs. He suggested I look on the internet for someone who worked on vintage stoves. After looking at several different vintage stove repair companies, I found Belgrove Appliance Inc. in Yonkers, New York. Since this company was nearly 600 miles away from my home, I wasn't sure whether they would be able to help me. My first contact with Belgrove Appliance Inc. was through an email along with three detailed photos sent late on a Friday afternoon. I received an email back on the following Monday from Belgrove Appliance Inc. stating that they could help me with my burners along with the price it would cost to repair or replace each burner. On Tuesday I received a follow-up call from a Belgrove Appliance customer service representative wanting to know if I had any additional questions or concerns. I did have additional questions and concerns about sending all six of my burners nearly 600 miles away from my home to be repaired. The customer service representative assured me that they could do the repair and get my burners back to me fairly quickly. After our converstation, I was still concerned about sending my burners away for repair. That all changed the following day when I received a phone call from "The Famous Stove Lady" aka Carlita Belgrove: Carlita answered all my questions and reassured me that the burners could be repaired quickly and be returned to me within a short period of time. The whole repair process took less than two weeks, which included the time it took to ship my burners from North Carolina to New York and back via UPS Ground. When Belgrove Appliance got the burners from me, I was again contacted by Carlita Belgrove saying she had the burners and that they were already in the shop being repaired and would be shipping out in a day or two. Not only was Belgrove Appliance able to repair my burners, they were also able to supply me with new oven door gaskets and new springs for my broiler door. Belgrove shipped the springs along with my repaired burners and the door gaskets were drop shipped to me since they were out of stock on that item. Again, Carlita Belgrove was concerned about saving time and getting my stove back in working order so she had the gaskets drop shipped. The level of personal service and follow up I received was excellent and I would highly recommend Belgrove Appliance Inc. to anyone with a vintage stove. The one thing that sold me on Belgrove Appliance Inc. and has made me a loyal customer (who lives almost 600 miles away) is the small gesture of concern expressed by Carlita Bellgrove in our first conversation. When I moved into my apartment I was bequeathed an incredible piece of equipment -- a huge, fancy stove. It is a commercial model -- the Majestic from Mascoutah, Illinois. Never heard of it? Me either. And I didn't much care because it worked so well and looked so cool. But it started to get a bit greasy and scruffy and when I started to really clean it, parts seemed to rust up. Never mind, it worked, so I lived with it quite happily. But then, out of nowhere, the oven wouldn't light. My husband, completely ignoring my fear that he would either blow us up or gas us to death, began poking around the stove. Despite his best efforts, and I have to admit he is generally quite a handy man, my husband was unable to get the stove to work. Nothing left to do but to call appliance repair people. To our dismay we found no one who would touch our gorgeous stove. Many refused on the basis of age. "Too old" they moaned. The domestic repair guys refused to handle it because it is a commercial stove. The commercial guys wouldn't touch it because it is located in a private home. Finally, we found her. The Stove Lady aka Carlita. When she arrived she allowed me to see exactly what she was doing. In fact, she suggested I get up in there and watch so I know how to do things like turn on the valve of the pilot light. She wasn't put off by the fact that the first few things she tried didn't work. And she didn't mumble ominously, as most repair people do, of special orders and unavailable parts. Instead, she was upbeat about the fact that we may need to go looking for a valve to fix the problem. She also suggested that her company could either clean or restore my stove. Heaven! Ultimately, with a few bangs and some elbow grease she was able to get my behemoth working again. I can't recommend her more highly. She arrived when she said she would. The appointment was made over the phone, confirmed via email and confirmed again when she was a few minutes away. The cost was exactly what she said it would be for the visit. I didn't ultimately need parts so she didn't charge me extra. Who does that nowadays?! Most importantly, her manner was upbeat and fun. She didn't try an intimidate me, she didn't try and push me to have my stove restored but simply mentioned it as an option. I acquired a BEAUTIFUL vintage oven a few years back and while the range, griddle, and broiler work wonderfully, I've never been able to get the oven to ignite. This review is long overdue. My husband and I hired Belgrove Appliance (the Stove Lady) to perform a partial restoration on our chambers stove. Our stove looks brand new! Backstory: When we moved into our home in the beginning of 2017 the previous owners had left us their chambers stove. We had no idea the gem they had left behind. We googled chambers stove repair and came across the stovelady.com. When Carlita came for the initial consult we could tell she was very knowledgeable and we learned quite a bit from her. After learning all the perks of this stove we knew we had to restore it. She quickly provided us with 3 options: a full restoration, a partial restoration and a third less expensive option that would only include repairs. Having just moved we decided to hold off and do the partial restoration at a later date since the stove was in working condition. Fast forward to March of this year--we contacted Carlita and told her we were ready for the partial restoration. While it did take several weeks before the work was performed (as parts needed to be ordered), Carlita and Teneel constantly provided us with status updates. The work was done all in one day. Carlita and Amir worked diligently and the end product was an amazing looking stove. Both Carlita and Amir were great. Carlita is very detail-oriented and came back to ensure everything was perfect. We could not be happier with our stove. We highly recommend Belgrove Appliance to anyone looking to do work on their stove. the woman who owns this business is incredibly nice, but my experience still left a bad taste in my mouth. in order to get a price to fix a stove, you have to bring your stove in (they do house calls, but we were too far to make that cost effective), which for me involved renting a truck and hauling it there myself which was no biggie. however as I am 61 and long past my stove lifting days, , she told me she'd have to hire movers to unload the stove at her end and asked me to pay $100 in advance for that. when I arrived, the two guys in the warehouse, men working on stoves, were NOT expecting me and were def not hired movers. when the estimate she gave me turned out to be too high for my budget ($4400 low end 12K high end), I mentioned that there hadn't been movers there and asked for that part of my payment be refunded. she then told me she'd paid the guys the $100 so she couldn't refund it. true or not, why not just be honest upfront--why say you are going to hire special workers when you really mean the guys you are already paying are just going to do it? and further, if you are asking the price of a small used car to fix a stove, and your customer has already paid for a diagnostic exam ($275) wouldn't lifting the thing you are checking/fixing out of the delivery vehicle be included in the price? read more

My experience was not as rosy. They repaired my 30 year old stove before. Not a fancy heirloom stove, just a company out of business. Very expensive but got the job done. I was not so thrilled to pour a lot more money into it again. I called but Carlita refused to talk to me first, even though I was a repeat customer and made me hang up and make a request on the web site without any conversation. She showed up at my house without advance notice, calling as she was at my doorstep. Even though I knew what the problem was and needed only a simple answer as to how complicated it was, it cost $300, including $150 in travel expenses,but still no answer as to approximate cost or time needed, The answer I was given was to pay the bill and then we will see how it goes. My wife and I are the owners of a 6 burner all gas range. It came with the home we bought as newlyweds.shortly after delivering our new baby we came home and discovered a gas leak. well, i had two glasses of wine and then went on ebay....a mistake.i bought a chambers stove and had it shipped from down south to carlita. she shook her head ...and said "ed what were you thinking" ???the range needed so much work. carlita basically took me by the hand and we worked out the repair strategy .today carlita and i have delivered a beautiful baby...a chambers range in mint condition !! the repair work is incredible....people visit the cabin and are immediately drawn to the range. if people are lucky...they admire a contractors work....i feel blessed...carlita and i became dear friends.....she is a gem !!! read more
