I'm sure everyone has heard the "never go to the dealer for service" mantra before, and that's sound advice in general. However, Berge Mazda has been the exception to the rule in my experience. I bought my 2010 Mazda3 from Earnhardt just prior to them ripping the Mazda signs off their buildings and More Mazda becoming the new dealer in Tempe. I've never had a worse service experience than I have had at More Mazda. They pretended that issues that I found were not there and simply refused to correct them. After my interactions there, I knew I couldn't go back there for service. I've had my 2010 for 4 years now, and have had some maintenance work and warranty work done at Berge. Vince in their service department is friendly, knowledgeable and seems to actually care about his customers. I noticed this morning that my car's dash began to separate. The Phoenix heat must have done a number it. Despite cracking my windows and putting up a visor, the glue in the dash lost its adhesive power. Even though my car is well out of warranty, I brought it in on a whim to see if there happens to be a common issue with the dash that would allow them to still repair it. No, it's not a warranty part for my car, but that didn't stop Vince from replacing my entire dash at no charge. Now in all caps: THEY REPLACED MY ENTIRE DASH THAT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY FOR NO CHARGE! They didn't even bother trying to repair it which I think would have been a more than acceptable alternative. I now have a new dash panel for no other reason than the fact that I'm a repeat customer there. The new dash also came with two bonus features. The first is that it appears to have eliminated a pesky rattle near the driver's side air vent that was part of the dash that could not be repaired under warranty since rattles are only covered for about 10,000 miles. The second is the new car smell returning due to the new piece. It may not last long, but it's pretty cool to have that in my four year old car. Vince is seriously great at customer service, and that is a rarity. read more

I bought my car at a different Mazda dealer and he never been treated well there. When I recently had some damage to a small part on my car, I pulled into Berge to see if I would be treated better. JJ in the service department was friendly and helpful and really took time to see how he could help. He was able to troubleshoot my problem and I was back on the road in 30 minutes. Thank you JJ for your above and beyond service mentality! read more

We purchased a Mazda 6 last weekend from Berge Mazda. Lance Baldwin was our sales associate who assisted us in the buying process. He did such a great job at making sure we were comfortable and our wants/needs were addressed. He truly made the buying experience such a peaceful process. This is our second purchase from Berge Mazda and will likely not be our last! read more

I don't think we could have had a nicer experience. Today, we purchased a car we found in Berge Mazda's online inventory. At the dealership, Holly Clark greeted us at the door and had the car we wanted available for a test drive within a couple minutes. It was a better car than we expected, and Holly answered all questions easily. After working with Taylor on financing, we signed papers and we were on our way. During the couple hours we were there, we were treated warmly - like old friends - and our time was not wasted in any way. If you decide to visit Berge Mazda, ask for Holly and tell her Sandy & Bob sent you. read more

Had a great experience here. I was immediately greeted as soon as I pulled up to the store by the friendly staff, and talking to their service department was a breeze. I told them what was wrong, they said that they'd check it out, and that was that. Diagnosed, fixed, charged a reasonable rate, and after a short wait I was on my way. Everyone was very polite and professional! read more

Impeccable service department!! I was very impressed with the level of service provided!

What started as a good car buying experience turned into such a chaotic mess. I negotiated a great price online and went in to lease a car. I worked with Miguel and he was very nice, I would recommend him. So I signed all the paperwork and left with the car. A couple of days later I get a call from the finance guy saying my address flagged for the loyalty rebate and they were saying I needed to redo my lease deal and threatening to take my car away from me if I was not able to come in soon enough to redo the deal for more money. They never told me at the dealership that I needed to provide proof of residency to get the loyalty rebate. It all sounded ridiculous to me that I already signed all the paperwork and the car is in my possession and they are trying to take it away from me. They should make sure all the information clears before they let a customer walk out the door or else it should be their problem and have nothing to do with the customer anymore. It is their fault that they did not have all the paperwork they needed at the time of the deal. Than days later they're still contacting me saying they need proof of my residency. It all seems very unorganized that they do not ask you for all this information at the dealership and contact you days later. At this point it is their fault and should not be my problem anymore since I have signed all the paperwork required at the dealership. Will not get another car at this dealership in the future. read more

So, the sales guys are amazing, and they went to the bat for me to get me the rate I needed. The Finance guy talked me into GAP insurance and told me I needed to provide him all these things to ensure my finance goes through properly. Wanted two paystubs and proof of insurance and give me his email. However, the guy ignored ALL of my emails for about 4 hours. So Pretty sketchy there. Not pleased that I have to call him tomorrow before work, I'm busy as it is. read more

An excellent place to buy a car! I recently purchased a Mazda6 from here and the whole process, test drive and paperwork included took all of three hours. This is for the service dept. They seem honest, and there is a nice waiting area with popcorn, water, and toys for the kids. However, they consistently take over an hour for an oil change/tire rotate. This time I said no tire rotate, and we have been here 1.5hrs. They are apparently too busy? Need to hire more mechanics and/or not double-book people. Other than the fact that they are in no rush to get you on your way, things are great here. read more

I went into Berge Mazda after an unpleasant experience with a different make days before, so I was not expecting much. However, Berge Mazda blew me away with how understanding and hard working they all were. Holly Clark assisted me in my first car buying experience and she was phenomenal! She listened to my needs and wants and made sure I got exactly what I was there to buy instead of haggling for a car I could not afford. Derik took care of the finance aspect and he was just as great! He worked persistently to get me the best deal and was so patient during the process. Every employee who walked by was friendly and greeted me, which also made me feel very welcomed. I ended up with a great first car (2016 Mazda3) and couldn't thank Holly and Derik enough for all that they did. Thank you Berge Mazda! read more

Not quite sure what to write. When I first dropped my car off I felt like I was being questioned for a crime I had committed. A leash board light had turned on and I figured I would have them look at it before I sold it. He began questioning me about its history and this and that and the other. I told him I just wanted it fixed. It's a beautiful car perfect shape no obvious problems. He started to pull a Carfax, but I told him I had already pulled one previously and that it was clean. It was if he was trying to figure out a way to make me pay for the service instead of having it covered by factory warranty. I didn't mind him doing his homework, but it's how it made me feel and how he presented it to me that mattered. In the end they ended up taking care of it which made me super happy and which would've wanted a five star rating for me. I'm super happy with what they did with the exception of that initial interaction. For that I'm giving a four star review. PS. The car was dirty when he brought it out to me, but he thought I was in a hurry so very willingly washed it. :-) read more

Short Version: AWESOME experience. Period. I worked with Dimitri, Jon, and Robert, and they were all GREAT. I love my car - a 2017 Mazda CX-3. I would purchase again from here FOR SURE. Long Version: First of all, I'm a single, thirty-something female, and this was my first car purchase I've done alone and I may or may not have been a bit nervous. My experience from pulling into the lot in my sad '09 Honda Civic, to driving away in my '17 Mazda CX-3 was awesome. I felt completely respected, understood, and comfortable, and not once did I ever feel insignificant, rushed, or overwhelmed. The sales associate I got to work with was Dimitri and I swear he has the patience of a saint. He waited while I took my time wrapping my head around having a car payment for the first time in about 6 years, only after we had already been going back and forth with Jon in financing, who was also incredibly patient, to get my payment where I wanted. I was taken on the coolest test drive which included utilizing the grand, long, empty stretch of parking/loading zone space behind a nearby warehouse. Very effective way to sell a car, guys. I worked with Robert to sign all the paperwork and he, too, was awesome. We spent too much time talking about Star Wars. Overall, my experience at Berge Mazda was not at all the soul crushing experience I had mentally prepared for. Yes, it was a car purchase. Yes, there was negotiating. Yes, I was there for hours (a lot being my fault, really, as I was mentally processing). Did Dimitri, Jon, and Robert make the experience awesome, treat me fairly and respectfully, all with 100% no pressure to purchase? YES. Thanks, guys. You'll always have a referral from me and I would absolutely purchase here in the future. read more

Had an AMAZING experience here. Rommy and Taylor specifically were so pleasant and made our experience a breeze. They are truly great people. We had wonderful conversations and I forgot I was even at a dealership. For reference my dad is a retired lawyer/federal judge and impressing him is simply not easy- He was so happy with how everything went he's the one that made me write this review! Thank you so much Berge Mazda I'm in love with my new car! 10/10 would recommend :) read more

I wanted to take a few minutes to write this review and compliment Berge Mazda on being one of the most responsive, respectful, and courteous dealerships I have run across in all of my years of buying/leasing automobiles. It was not an easy decision since the CX-5 is an awesome vehicle that provides great value for the price, however I chose to go with another product. This is not a reflection on Berge or Mazda, just a matter of a personal choice. In closing, I will say the team at Berge could not have done anymore to make me feel like a valued customer and their pricing is excellent! If you are considering a Mazda or Volkswagen, do yourself a favor and give Jim M, Rita G, or Julian G a call! P.S. Taxes are lower in Gilbert. read more

Jeff W was great to work with!! Love the service at this dealership. Jeff was lots of help!!

The service here was great! You always hear the horror stories about going to a dealership and having the pesky salesmen follow and harass you. This definitely wasn't the case for me. I arrived and was treated great! They went through the options I could afford and found the best deal for me....I ended up purchasing a car that day. It has now been a month and a half and I had to call about a question...they still remembered me and were very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking to purchase your next vehicle. Jeff and Barry are great! read more

Came to Berg Mazda on 06-13-19, got here at 625pm. Walked around the parking lot and looked at a couple of vehicle to see which Mazda 3 I would consider getting. Looking to trade my 2015 Mazda 3. Waited for 20 mins and no one ever came out. Saw a couple that caught me eye, but the fact that someone was walking in the lot for 20 mins and no one came out tells me just how poorly the service they will provide. Hopefully you have better luck than I did. read more

Mazda will never earn our business again, and I hold Berge Mazda and it's owners entirely responsible for our asinine experience in both customer service and product value. My wife's brand new Mazda3 came with faulty sensors that, according to Berge Mazda by way of Mazda Corporation, cannot be fixed. Why are these sensors faulty? Oh, they're not faulty, its just too hot in Arizona for our car to work correctly. Nevermind that my vehicle from a competitor functions like a charm no matter how strong the sun beams, Mazda, and by proxy, Berge Mazda, had the balls to tell my wife that the problem on a brand new Mazda3 cannot be fixed. Well guess what, we're going to get out from under a POS car made by Mazda and hocked by BERGE MAZDA and purchase a car made by a company who isn't undone by a sunny day. As ironic as it is, the only good part of our experience was our salesperson, Taylor, but I guess you need to be an excellent salesman when you're selling a shiny pile of crap on four wheels. I'll update my review as our story progresses, but rest assured it will never be erased. People need to know how greedy and lazy Mazda and BERGE MAZDA are before losing their money. UPDATE- Gary Seegan, general manager of Berge Mazda, went behind our backs and declined Mazda Corporate's offer of compensation to us and then had the gall to advise us to get a lawyer. His behavior has been nothing more than that of a snake in tall grass. His cohort, Ken Howie, is even lower. You cannot trust either of these men or the product they sell. Go buy a car anywhere but from these men who lied to us. read more

I always have a really good experience whenever I come here. James is usually the one that helps me out and he's been extremely informative and helpful with my car. When I recently purchased a new 2018 Mazda 6 at Berge, it was my pleasure in dealing with Robert Perez, a highly professional and personable salesperson. Robert was able to put me at ease and make the transaction very smooth. My Mazda 6 as with most new cars has options that require quite a bit of explanation. Robert is incredibly well versed in the complexities of these features and does not hesitate in sharing that knowledge not only upon delivery of the vehicle but also any time questions arise in the future. read more

Very unorganized and poorly managed service center. I scheduled an appointment for a routine maintenance and was told when I arrived all I needed was an oil change. I normally do oil changes though non-dealer companies. But since I was already there I decided to let them. I was quoted 1.5 hours, was offered a shuttle even through I had requested a courtesy vehicle. I decided to stay in the lobby given the estimated wait time. After 1.5 hours I hadn't heard from anyone. I gave them 30 minutes longer as a courtesy until I went to the front desk. They couldn't find my paperwork. Then, they told me they hadn't even brought my car back yet. A complete waste of 2 hours of my time. I recommend you bring your car elsewhere. read more

My experience with Jon and Julian in Sales was very good. I stopped to look and test drive the 2019 CX 9 and told them that I only had about 30 mins to spare in my busy schedule. They hurried to find me the right car to try. Julian was very knowledgeable about the features and qualities of the car and we got out on the road after a brief but thorough overview of the instruments. My husband and I went to Berge Mazda and purchased a Mazda CX-5 to replace the vehicle that I had driven for many years. Since it was larger and higher than what I was used to driving I was uncomfortable driving it at first. Our salesman Robert Perez was very patient and did not make us feel rushed. The negotiation process was fine and we left with the vehicle we wanted and paid a price that we were comfortable with. Since the purchase, Robert has followed up with us a couple of times to make sure everything was fine and we were happy with the vehicle. We would recommend Robert and Berge Mazda to anybody. P.S. Brand new 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring....asked what engine oil they use. Mazda Service thought is was Castrol Bulk Synthetic 0W-20. I asked what kind, they didn't know. Transferred me to parts, and they said dealership doesn't use the recommended Mazda Oil, but they sell Mazda Oil to you in retail. I asked what the bulk oil was that they used and was told they get it from New West and it's VALVOLINE, and asked what VALVOLINE and they said they didn't know. Parts checked with Assistant Mgr and he didn't know. I said, "New West can sell you anything, how do you know what it is." So if you want to have your brand new vehicle ruined by putting in oil that Mazda doesn't recommend, then go to Berge. Their oil sticker says Castrol. This is all misleading and dishonest. I am NOT happy. read more

BEWARE OF THE BAIT & SWITCH!!!!! I was shopping for the Mazda 3 and was shopping many dealers and everyone offered me the same price for my trade except Berge, they were $2,500 low and wouldn't budge. They did offer me a "very agressive price" on the new Mazda so I called their bluff I said i'll buy your car at the "very agressive price" and i'll keep my other car, after a pause on the phone the salesman Tom said he'd have to check about possibly some better financing than I already had, about 30 minutes later one of the many sales managers called me and said they made an "honest mistake with their price" and the new price would be $2,500 more than originally quoted... coincidence? I think not. Needless to say I moved on and purchased a Toyota which is probably a better car in the long run. If dealers would just be honest they would have alot better reputation. They had their offer on the table for over a week and nobody noticed the numbers weren't right.....please read more

I bought my car from Berge Mazda two years ago, but quickly stopped taking it in for service there. They charged about $60 for my car's inspection (which pretty much amounted to nothing more than a traditional oil change, fluid topping, and tire rotation). Then they showed me that there was something lodged in my tire. They said it was too big to repair and wanted $150 to replace the single tire. After having a good laugh, I took my car to a Discount Tire Co. and they repaired the damage for free. It turned out the thing lodged in my tire was a drill bit. read more

My nightmare was with the service department. My VW was purchased via my bank so when I needed service I opted to go to the closest dealership to my house - Berge. It was nice at first. At around 15k miles it started this weird shaking thing that persisted. I took the car back in, explained everything, and I even suggested the mechanic drive it around to see what I was talking about. The service person told me if the mechanics could not replicate it, it meant I made it up..... uhhhmmm ok. They had the car three days after I was told it would be a one day diagnostic. On the 3rd day by 4p I was told my car hadn't even been looked at. Why did I bother making an appointment?I'm not proud of it but I ripped into the service advisor and demanded a manager. From the start I made it clear they could have the car as long as they wanted permitted it was worked on and I got a rental that they paid for. He agreed, I was given a rental, and sent on my way. The mechanic then drove my car around town for 3 days trying to replicate the problem - he did on the 3rd day - see? I'm not crazy! They decided on the coil packs and replaced them. When I got the invoice I was shocked the service advisor wrote very nasty things about me on it. "Customer is a nasty irate person only wanting free things from the dealership. She's a troublemaker." WTF??? Save yourself some time, go elsewhere if you want to be treated by a professional employee. read more
