Where do I begin? So after a long family day at the science museum, my husband, daughter and I wanted to have some good food...where else to get that but the north end! I made reservations earlier in the day to come here. We had been here before and we loved it, so it made picking a place much easier. Our daughter is 6 and they really did a great job last time at making her happy, which in turn let us enjoy our dinner much more. Our reservations were at 8:30p..sure a little late, but we figured, hey why not? It's a Saturday. So we cut through the crowd of people on the streets to get to the door, and are greeted by a very nice man, who seated us quickly at a table right by the door, tight squeeze but hey, it's the north end..it's about the food and a good time right? So Samantha, our waitress came over and took our app, drink, and entree order (we pretty much knew what we wanted before we got there). I ordered the mussels w marinara and my husband ordered the lobster ravioli. Both great as expected. So here's where the problem began..the table directly next to us, was VERY loud and obnoxious..we later figured out it was a woman's birthday...bunch of late 40s cackling hens...my husband and I can look at each other and not even have to say anything to know what we're each thinking...we waited for our entrees basically staring at each other with the "this isn't even enjoyable look" I felt very uncomfortable from the min we sat down, because I was getting gawked at by the women across the table from us...I ignored it because we were trying to enjoy our time there..I mean anyone with kids and a busy lifestyle knows that when you actually get to plan a family day, you'd like to enjoy it. So anyways after listening to they're comments for about 5 mins, and having holes burnt through me with the long staring etc (I must be real cute to stare that long!) I said to my husband quietly that I felt uncomfortable and that I've been listening to the women beside him talking shit about me the whole time..he asked if I wanted to leave and I said you know what, I'm not leaving. We just ordered our dinner (both veal Marsala) and we waited all day for this meal...we're gonna enjoy it. All along I'm thinking to myself "I can't believe this" anyway, when our food came I heard more chatter, saw more staring, etc...I said to them "listen can you guys just let us enjoy our dinner" like in other words enough with the god forsaken shit talking...like how old are you people?! In return I got "we will do what we want, it's her birthday (points to woman next to her) and we know the owner"... amongst her rambling comments she called me "miss piggy"...um last time i checked you got at least 150lbs on me lady!!!....and this is why these people have everything to do with a bad review for this place....if the owner has friends who will come into his establishment and think the run the place...what type of owner is he?! Our waitress came over with another woman and obviously asked what was going on etc..she said she could move us, we were moved to a high top table. Thank god...many waitresses then came over apologizing and saying that "this isn't the first time these people have come in here and acted like this"...and that "they think because the know the owner, joe, they think they can do whatever"....again..what type of owner allows behavior like this?! So regardless, we pretty much lost our appetite, and I was quite upset with frustration..we finished our wine, we packed up, paid and headed for the door....many more apologies on our way out..waitresses, busboy etc...here's the kicker....the "Table-O-12-Hens" has the BALLS to APPLAUD as we were leaving...oh great thanks..as the whole restaurant stops and looks at a family of three walking out the door....CONGRATS!! you have succeeded again at making yourselves look like drunk assholes again..The door man apologized, and also the owner Joe came out and apologized for his "friends" behavior...he stated that they're never like this etc and if he didn't know them he would have kicked them out a long time ago...While it was nice for him to come out apologize, it still doesn't fix our ruined dinner. Next time we will go where we feel welcomed, and people haven't been over served and aren't drunk to the point they start trouble. And not for nothing, if these were my "friends" in my establishment I'd be pissed at the level of disrespect for my business! read more
