Went out for a little date night at Forcella in the North End and it was such a good choice. It's a smaller spot with a cozy feel, and we sat by the window near the entrance, which was perfect vibe. I ordered the pistachio martini and it was delicious -- smooth, slightly nutty, and really well done. For dinner, I had the carbonara and can't say enough good things, top notch. The outdoor seating was intimate however it was between 2 buildings so there was no breeze. Our server, David, was probably roasting in the heat but he always spoke to us with a smile on his face and worked so hard the whole night. We ordered: -Burrata: 2 large servings- 1 for each of us. It was very light and tasty. -*** Crispy Pork Belly***: This was new and totally stole the show. It literally melted in your mouth; you didn't have to chew it. I would come back here just to get that again. -Lobster risotto: a very generous portion of lobster. I would have preferred the sauce to be a little thicker but my boyfriend absolutely loved it. -Bolognese: pasta was cooked al dente (which I love). It was a great pasta-to-sauce ratio! I would have loved some bigger chunks of meat but the sauce was super flavorful. My favorite meal is bolognese and I was very pleased with this. PS: this restaurant does not do desserts or coffee. Waiter David gave us an enthusiastic greeting and cocktails were served expeditiously and were delicious for both my wife and me. Menu was decently varied; my wife ordered arugula salad and salmon. I had caesar and chicken parm. Once delicious salads were served, another couple arrived at the table next to us and we overheard their waiter read them that night's specials. My wife really liked one of them and would have ordered that if we had been given the option. About 5 minutes after we finished our salads the entrees arrived. I took a bite of pasta and it was undercooked. Very tough and chewy. I took a bite of the chicken parm and that was also tough and dry. Overcooked. I told my wife and we decided rather than send it back we would just get some extra sauce to make it edible. I got the sauce from someone who might have been a manager or possibly an owner,, but the chicken was just so dry it only did so much. I am normally a finish your plate kind of guy, but I couldn't even come close. I ate about a third of the pasta and about half the parm. I offered a taste of the chicken parm to my wife and she agreed it was dry and tough. Several minutes after we were served our waiter finally came back and asked how things were. I told him I had gotten the extra sauce and that the dry chicken was a little better with that. Unfortunately, he didn't ask anything about the meal and why I was asking for the extra sauce. He just left the table and went on to serving others. In fairness, my wife's salmon was excellent according to her. My wife and I typically travel to the North end for Italian once a year. We have probably been doing it for a couple of decades. Sadly, this was the worst plate of food I've gotten in all of that time. Your local pizza shop could have done a better job for the chicken parm, without a doubt. I know I could have sent it back, but you know how that is... Your table guest is left to eat theirs alone and then yours arrives 15 minutes later and then you are eating alone. If the waiter had really been paying attention, he would have come by the table right after we were served and had a couple of bites. Additionally, when the meal was done and he saw my plates were barely eaten, you would think he would have said something. Sadly, neither of those things happened. read more

My friends and I came here on a Thursday evening and enjoyed our meals. I had the Pappardelle alla Bolognese and thought it was really tasty. The texture of the pasta was excellent and the sauce had a lot of flavor. Service was attentive but they definitely enforce a bit of a time limit. They had another reservation after us they had to get ready for which is totally fine and fair, but the hostess or manager was giving a little attitude about it which was off-putting. Nevertheless, overall we had a good time and our waiter was very friendly. I also liked the aesthetic of the interior especially with the brick wall. The risotto was amazing, great taste and rice was perfect. I had the pasta with pesto and my friend had the lobster risotto. Both entrees were excellent. Lots of lobster and perfectly prepared. My issue here is that the service was slow. There was no progression from appetizer to entree or entree to check. Also they do not have coffee or dessert. A small group of friends and I tried Forcella for Dine Out 2025 on a weeknight and had a great time. The space is like any in the North End, smallish but well packed with a number of tables. I will say this place feels a little quieter and more intimate that other spots in the North End, which I appreciated. For apps, most opted for the burrata and I opted for the meatballs and shared. Loved the tomato jam on the meatballs, and needed the extra table bread to finish the sauce on both. For the next course, we all did it differently, trying the cacio e pepe, carbonara, and pesto risotto. All were classic but I think the cacio e pepe was perfect and the carbonara was stunning but I wish I could have added a little parm. Finally for the third course, two got the chicken parmigiana and two the salmon. The salmon was perfectly seasoned and cooked. One friend liked her chicken while the other found the chicken too thin and tough. She said she wouldn't order it again. My pan roasted salmon was served with crispy skin atop roasted vegetables--highly recommend for a lighter appetite. The pastas were not overwhelmingly large portions and were super flavorful. Sangria was also delicious. No dessert menu but we went around the corner for cannoli at Modern Bakery. Service was attentive and not rushing us at all. I was very excited to have an authentic Italian pasta dinner in the North End and made a reservation at Forcella - which turned out to be one of the best meals I've had in months! The ambience is very cozy, elegant, and romantic. I got the Cacio e Pepe pasta (fettuccini with pepper, $21), which was so filling and delicious. The texture of the pasta was perfect. My friend got the eggplant rigatoni which was also amazing. We also tried the meatballs as an appetizer (beef and veal) which were very tender and came with a yummy tomato sauce. One of the highlights of the meal was the quality of the service - our server did a top-notch job, always refilling the water, frequently checking to see if we needed anything, and just overall being extremely hospitable and attentive. The weekly street parade honoring the saint of the week stops right outside as you can see from the video we took. I don't ordinarily eat carbonara pasta but I had a good appetite this day and ate it all. This was our only meal in North End so we have no other comparison but based on my limited experience, I would try them again. There are very limited seafood menu options. They don't serve dessert or coffee, and the goal it the restaurant appears to be to turn the tables over as quickly as possible. We had barely finished our food and I still had half a glass of wine. We had only been there for a little over 90 minutes when they literally just asked us to leave because they had people waiting. I'm sorry, but what? Let's begin - the bread they served at the table resembled a loaf of Wonder Bread or the Stop and Shop store brand. We ordered two things: the Trombette All Barese (which is supposed to be broccoli rabe with sausage) and the carbonara. The Trombette was basically pureed broccoli with maybe half a sausage covering raw pasta. Not authentic at all. The carbonara was burnt bacon, oil, and raw pasta mixed together. No cheese or egg was in sight. The restaurant was filled with people murmuring about the quality of the food. Inside is a small, modern, intimate setting. Nice ambience. Our waiter was great. Very friendly and helpful with the menu. My husband ordered from the dine out week menu while I ordered from the regular menu (I didn't have a lot of faith in myself to even make it to the secondi since I was feeling for something light). He got the Beet Salad, Black Pepper Linguine Carbonara and the Bone In Pork Chop. He enjoyed everything. He said the Carbonara is the best he's had and it was recommend highly by our waiter. I had the Linguine alle Congole and the Herbed Mushroom etc as a side. I will admit the flavours of the pasta didn't stand out to me but the mushroom side brought my meal together. Having spent 5 hours on an airplane flying in from the West Coast, we were excited about hitting the North End for great Italian. We decided on Forcella as the reviews were positive and my partner being from Naples, found the restaurant name intriguing. We made reservations for 8:30pm on a Wednesday night. We realized our 8:30 reservation was made too late we were hungry! We thought instead to show up an hour early planning to get a cocktail and perhaps an appetizer at the bar while waiting for our reservation. We check in at the door where the young hostess seemed flustered. Not exactly sure what the sense of anxiety was about. We told her we'd wait in the bar knowing we were an hour early. Turns out they don't have a liquor license- only beer and wine. They pretend to sell cocktails with "fake" vodka made from grapes instead of ingredients legitimate vodka is made from. About 1/2 hour into waiting, I went to the host stand where Shannon, the owner was standing. I asked, if it is possible when our table is ready could please be seated at the window? It was as though I asked Shannon if I could burn the place down with everyone in it. Shannon was SO INCREDIBLY RUDE, SURLY, HATEFUL AND ALL AROUND MEAN. Shannon said: YOU ARE EARLY FOR YOUR RESERVATION!!!!!!!!!!! Taken aback by her aggressively angry and irritated response, I calmly said; I'm not trying to upset you, I'm only asking if when our table is ready- could you please give us a table near the window. Then, I walked away thinking I was having a bad dream. Hey Shannon- it's not uncommon for customers to request a specific table. I observed not one person walked through the door for 32 minutes after her little melt down. There were SIX EMPTY TABLES 2 of which were near the window. WHAT WAS ALL YOUR DRAMA ABOUT? Oh wait! Perhaps it's because the food is SO BAD we had to send 3 out of the 4 things back. Meatballs were disgraceful. Consistency of mush. Caesar Salad had oranges in it? Pasta was overcooked sitting in a bath of pasta water. Whatever happened with the main course was not noted as I gave up eating. The entire evening was A COMPLETE DISASATER. Thank GOD our waiter Marin was fantastic- A true professional with grace. Thank you for your excellent service. He was a veteran and knew things were not going well. The chef/owner stopped by our table and asked about the returned food. He told us he had had too much to drink and wandered away talking to himself.
