Puttanesca Pasta-delish w anchovie, olive and capers. The strong flavors I love.

Hanging with a friend. His first time here. It was moderately busy. It was 3:00 pm on a Sunday.

This is my second time-- again we found this place just by walking around. something about it is inviting! We splurged, and ordered the spinach crepe. 10/10. Really fantastic. We actually ordered two, and the cheese sauce on top is divine. The pizza was also fantastic, I subbed eggplant for tomato on one of them and they did not skip a beat! Plenty of toppings, piping hot pizza made fresh, it's a treat. I was sad to hear they don't offer a dessert menu!

The short rib rigatoni was delicious! 10/10

My dad and I made a 5:30 reservation for dinner, before a Celtics game since the Garden is only a short walk from Benevento's. We were seated after only waiting a few minutes, the service was fantastic, with the food and wine being even better! The food is cooked in an open kitchen, which makes the experience even better. I highly recommend visiting Benevento's!

The street that Benevento's is on has tons of Italian competitors, the places we originally wanted to check out were all long waits, but this didn't have a wait so we gave it a shot. We just had a huge workout and were famished -- this place has large portions and was very satisfying to have. Very simple Italian dishes, we got the North Ender and Alfredo. On the pricier end (you're in North End though) but not the worst option there.

The food is always consistently delicious whether dine in or take out, and the service is wonderful. The bartenders are fun and friendly and accommodating.

Found this place insanely quickly on yelp, first place to pop up. This place is amazing first of all. Small, but amazing selection of pizzas, soups, salads, etc. We got seated super quickly, within 30 seconds, hostess was so nice and eager to help us! And the vibe of this place is almost as better as their food! Nice, CLEAN bathroom, floors so clean you could eat off it. Overall, beautiful little italian place, recomend 100%!

Benevento's Original Brick Oven Kitchen & Bar is an Italian restaurant that opened in Boston, Massachusetts in June 2010. It was founded by restaurateur Joe Bono. He first opened the Italian restaurant Al Dente at 109 Salem Street in the North End (aka Boston's "Little Italy") in 1993. After several successful years, Bono decided to acquire the space next door which had been home to Trani Ice Cream for a number of years. He dubbed his new Italian restaurant venture "Benevento's". It was meant to be a more contemporary version of Al Dente where customers could have a more affordable take-out or sit-down option. In 2017, Bono opened BenCotto, a speciality pizzeria, at 361 Hanover Street. My family and I recently visited Benvento's for the first time. We were spending the day in Boston and found ourselves in the North End by the end of the day. We were getting pretty hungry for dinner and started looking for a place to grab some food. I'm an observant Italian Jew and Passover happened to be going on this week, so I looked on Yelp to see if there were any Italian restaurants that had gluten-free options (no easy feat). Benevento's came up highly recommended. The interior was kind of small but cozy and charming. Although I wasn't allowed to eat pizza this week, I certainly enjoyed smelling it cook in the brick oven. For food, I had the "Burrata Salad" (soft mozzarella, roasted peppers, and Prosciutto di Parma over a bed of arugula w/ EVOO drizzle), my wife had the "Grilled Chicken Salad" (fresh baby greens tossed in homemade balsamic vinaigrette dressing, roasted peppers, fresh mozzarella and tomato topped with warm grilled chicken), our older son had "Kids Linguine with Marinara Sauce", and our younger son had "Kids Cheese Ravioli". I'm not going to lie, but salads would not have been our first choice if it wasn't Passover. That being said, the salads that my wife and I had were excellent! Our sons loved their pasta dishes too! Overall, we had a great time at Benevento's and my family and I would love to return to try their pizza or other Italian entrées.

Tried Benevento's pizza for lunch the other day and it was ok. It was kind of doughy and greasy and could have been crispier. The flavor was good. Haven't tried anything else on the menu so can't speak to the other food but wouldn't get the pizza. Staff was very nice

I was heading to Regina's for a pizza, but I Was remembering my last meal at Beneventos. So, rainy night ... Sat at bar. Ordered from the night specials ... same I had last time ... short rib pasta . Ordered a single meatball for appetizer and a must try with sauce, fresh bread for the sauce . Meatball excellent Short rib pasta was outstanding again. Grated parm added on top and excellent. Peroni beer and all good in my dining book.

Fresh pasta with vodka sauce.

Recently traveled to Boston to see family, and we went to Benevento's a small restaurant off of Salem street. Very cosy inside. We were greeted right away and they were very accommodating to the fact 4 of us were there and 4 would show up later. They gave us bread and butter to start. The baguette was not warm and we were given cold butter packed to spread. I would highly recommend warming the bread and flavoring the butter, or a simple olive oil that has been infused would have taken this a long way. The portions were quite big and the hubby and I shared the pasta. The pasta was cooked perfectly aldente with a nice chew. The vodka sauce was good, but it could've used a bit of red pepper flakes to give it a bit of heat. If I'm back in Boston I would suggest this place, but there maybe others that are better.

Carbonara Pasta - with handmade fussili
Cynthia E.

Originally I wanted to go to Al Dente, but the wait was a hour and a half and the host mentioned that next-door they had the same exact menu. So I decided to try Benevento's. I ended up getting the same exact thing that I got from Al Dente a year ago which was the handmade Fussili Carbonara, but this time I didn't add sausage and I got a meatball on the side. The pasta was amazing! Loved the soft texture of the fussili. The carbonara sauce was really good as well - nice and creamy. The pancetta was somewhat chewy, but overall I really enjoyed the dish! The meatball dish was also amazing! The meatball itself wasn't overly seasoned but the sauce and the cheese really complemented the meatball well. I was pleasantly surprised by how good this tasted - it was a very simple dish that had amazing flavor! Washed it down with the Chianti and that made my night! So if you can't make it into Al Dente, go next-door to Benevento's!

The food was phenomenal and is some of the best Italian food I've had in Boston. The décor in there was beautiful. It's so "Boston" with a lot of mood lighting, sooth jazz music, and just overall people enjoying their time there. Fair warning, you cannot get a walk-in table, so if you want to go here (which I'd 100% recommend doing) make sure to book a reservation a day before relatively early on!

The first few bites of both were good, but not as amazing as we would've expected, given the rave about this restaurant. As we continued chowing down our dish, we both noticeably got sick of it. The flavors weren't something that made us want to go back for more. The host was kind. My partner had made a last minute reservation, but realized he made it for the wrong day when we arrived and although they were a full house that Saturday night, he made sure to get us in with a short wait. Inside is dark and loud, which is not much of my preferred ambience. Luckily, we sat outside with fresh air and it was a warm Summer evening, so it felt nice. Unfortunately, this is off my list because we were not amazed.

Grilled Octopus over mixed greens with Cherry Peppers and a balsamic glaze: A delightful surprise! The octopus was incredibly fresh, tender, and succulent, bursting with umami and a smoky aroma. The sweet and sour balsamic vinegar followed subtly, lively yet deeply penetrating the texture; the lemon juice added a refreshing and layered flavor. The sauce was also delicious with the greens. Shrimp and Scallops Fettuccini with Giacomo: The standard menu order is linguine, but we could ask the server to substitute other pasta, which was a thoughtful touch. The fettuccini is wider, with a better texture and more grain fragrance, although I felt it was cooked a bit too soft, softer than al dente. The shrimp and scallops were large and fresh, making for a very satisfying meal. Giacomo sauce is supposedly a lobster-based marinara sauce with a touch of béchamel sauce. The lobster flavor is actually quite subtle, but the combination of the two sauces avoids being overly sour or greasy. Plus, there's a generous amount of sauce, making it easy to mix. Overall, it's quite good. The restaurant is rather cramped, and the seating isn't very comfortable. A 20% tuition fee is automatically applied for groups of 5 or more. However, a waitress accidentally spilled water on my sleeve and didn't apologize immediately; she only brought me tissues after I asked. Thankfully, it wasn't hot water...

The sprouts had too much balsamic reduction on it which was cloying, and the garlic aioli didn't have a distinctive taste. The shrimp was cooked perfectly but the seasoning was on the bland side and too little sauce. It did have a nice brightness on the lemon and butter. Tiropita Rolls: Very straightforwardly delicious. The bread was warm, soft, and airy, with a rich aroma of butter and cheese; the spread was a rich blend of honey butter, and olives, sweet and delicious, perfect as an appetizer. Tzatziki: A slight disappointment. The cucumber and Greek yogurt spread was surprisingly heavy, a bit cloying, and the pickled kumquats weren't as sweet as I expected, but rather had a slightly bitter taste. The pita bread was thick and soft, probably better suited for dipping in soup--like Bourdeto--than for the spread. Bourdeto: The tomato fish soup was a pleasant surprise. The freshly caught grouper of the day was thick and tender, lightly seared to create a crispy crust. The broth was a vibrant, tangy tomato base, with onions, fennels, and red peppers contributing a sweet, layered flavor. Trahanas, fermented wheat and dairy, added richness and a smooth texture to the soup. The broth also had a slight spiciness, making it incredibly comforting on a chilly autumn day. Portokalopita: The dessert that elevated the entire meal. A traditional Greek orange phyllo, the cake, made from crumbs of phyllo pastry, becomes incredibly soft and moist after being soaked in orange syrup. Every bite was bursting with rich orange sweetness and fragrance, followed by a slightly bitter orange zest--perfectly balanced. Paired with Manouri cheese ice cream, the creamy flavor was incredibly rich and creamy, creating a harmonious and layered flavor profile.
