I was very excited to try this place for SRW and it's another winner!!! They have a mini supper club as part of SRW so we decided to try it. Course 1: Spiced carrot soup: sweet and savory, rich and creamy, a good fresh start Kale and cauliflower salad: this was unexpectedly good, they shaved the cauliflower in a way that I thought was cheese as first but it wasn't! It was also brought a crunchy texture. Course 2: Duck confit ragu: I really like this dish, the noodle was wide noodle with a grainy texture and the meat was super tender. Very flavorful. Fried chicken with brussel sprouts: fried chicken was surprisingly good. Boneless, tender and the breading was crispy but the flavor was what made it super yummy. The brussel sprouts was ok for me, nothing special. Course 3: Banana foster: the rum sauce was a little too sweet for me but I like the caramelized banana was perfect. Overall, the portion was good and it was a great deal for SRW. However, their description was a little misleading. It says you wouldn't leave being hungry, so I thought we be getting a lot of food, but it was enough to be satisfied, nothing overfilling, so I was slightly disappointed. I was kinda thinking we be getting two dessert since we were getting two courses for everything else. My husband also got one of the drinks and it was really good. My partner Ariel and I absolutely love Ben Paris. Every time we have been we get the happy hour chef tasting menu. First - it is an incredible deal. For the amount of amazing food for the price you pay, the value is out-of-this-world. Second - the bar program is incredible. I had my fancy pants on and wanted some delicious snacks. Low and behold Ben Paris...which I've always wanted to try. While I did not come in for a "full meal experience" I did want to have some small bites and drinks. I walked in and immediately sat at the bar. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere inviting. My Order: Shrimp Cocktail - not sure how something so simple could be so extra delicious! The shrimp were huge and the sauce complemented perfectly. House Fries - I devoured these. The homemade Aioli along with crispy fries was the perfect treat. Honestly, some of the best I've had. Again, why something so simple could be so extra tasty I don't know! Martini Trio - YUM! Food: For vegetarians, there are limited options and no entrees but I will say they veggie started and sides were great. I loved the soup in particular. It was rich and flavorful. Not too ginger forward. Perfect for the fall. Ambiance: One word - boujie. This would be a great place to grab drinks, celebrate an anniversary, or meet with friends for a special occasion. If you are visiting Seattle, I would opt for something more local and quintessential Seattle, but if your staying close to Ben Paris it isn't a bad option. Service: I love the folks at Ben Paris. My friend and I came here this morning for breakfast. We were told it was about a 20 minute wait, and that was accurate. We sat down within 20. Everything from then on was horrible. We sat there for over 25 minutes without ever being acknowledged. I would argue that we were being actively ignored. It was confusing to know who our server was. The girl who seemed to be working our area (brown curly hair, glasses) made eye contact with me several times and still did not come over to us. She was the slowest server I've ever seen, moseying around and seemingly avoiding us. A girl who was sat literally 30 seconds before us ordered and got her food BEFORE ANYONE EVEN SPOKE TO US!!! The waitress who ended up taking our order seemed to only come over because she probably noticed my stank face and me tapping my menu on the table. As we sat there waiting for our food, two other duos of people of color were sat near us. They also waited a long time, at least 15 minutes, before being asked if anyone had taken their order. In comparison to the white family of three right next to us getting their order taken within 3 minutes of sitting (from the curly brown haired server), this felt very intentional. Sooo, I'm not saying there was bias involved but it sure as heck felt like it based on the treatment I saw of POC v. white people. This was not your typical "oh, this place has bad service." I've been to many busy restaurants where at least the servers are apologetic or can acknowledge the slow service. This was basically no service at all. We were only checked on once when we were literally done and asking for the check. As far as food, it did taste good. Coffee was not great. We ordered dirty chai lattes, which we could not finish because they were gross. They also forgot to give us a carrot cake we ordered, but since they didn't charge us for it and we wanted to get the heck out of there, we didn't bother mentioning it. ALSO BIG SIDE NOTE, I got sick a few hours after eating here. Threw it all up. Don't know if it was from here, but I didn't eat that much else after..so it's hard to tell. TLDR: Food was alright. Had a wonderful brunch experience here on the weekend. There was a bit of wait for walk-ins so definitely recommend reserving a table in advance. The food was great- all the dishes we ordered turned out great - the fried chicken sandwich, the avocado toast and the pancakes. The service was really good as well. This is a new to me restaurant in Seattle. Ben Paris is part of The State Hotel. The restaurant is in long shape with tall ceiling. I was attracted by the hand paint mural on the wall. The restaurant looked bright and airy with lots of windows. During the meal, we had to raise our voice in order to hear each other from across the small table and the tables setting is very close to each other. The service was on point and friendly but my beverage was served on my left hand side. Food wise... The boneless short rib looked good with tender texture but it failed/none in flavor (both meat and sauce). The fried chicken was a good choice. The flavor is on the crispy skin and the meat is juicy. The truffle fries arrived late and it was not hot. We turned it back. The fresh hot fries was crispy and filled with truffle fragrant. We liked it but we prefer no salt on them. Before visiting, I was hopeful to try new restaurant and curious about their "Tour the Menu." After my meal, I don't prefer this restaurant as the seating layout is uncomfortable to me. Ben Paris will steal your money. Do not do take out with this establishment. On a quiet Friday night in February, we craved fried chicken, and remembered Ben Paris had decent fried chicken. Initially, we tried phoning, but no one answered the phone. Thus, we used the take out feature on their website. We ordered two fried chicken dinners, two orders of fries, and I left a $10.00 tip. We drove down, went inside to pick up our order. Disorganization was the flavor of the day, but I assumed they would have the order correct. Once home, they forgot the two fries at a cost of $32.00. In addition, when I printed up the receipt, Ben Paris charged me $17.20 for the tip, rather than the $10.00 I stipulated. We called the restaurant and actually heard from a real person who answered the phone. However, they refused to return my money. That's right. The manager, on the evening of February 25, 2022, told me he will leave a note about our claimed mistake. I went ballistic, but my wife stopped me from driving back to the restaurant to confront them. Sad fact: Ben Paris ripped me off for a total of $39.20 plus tax. Combined with what their cavalier attitude did to my blood pressure, the loss of the money felt like I was a victim of the 1929 Stock Market Crash. $39.20 isn't a fortune, but the indignity was horrific. read more

We had a 1:30PM reservation, we arrived a few minutes and early and they were able to seat us right away. We were at a table for two near the open kitchen. When our server arrived, I asked if they were closing at 2PM (I only saw it after we were seated). He said yes but that was the time the kitchen shit down to prep for their dinner service. We ordered the ricotta pancakes, smoked salmon omelette and their chicken burger with fries and two coffees. Our server took our order and shortly after we got our coffee. We ended up flagging someone down to get a refill on coffee and some additional water. The food took a fairly long time and we saw our order up for a bit and someone did eventually bring us our three dishes. The food was decent, of the three dishes, I would say that the chicken on brioche with cucumber kimchi and peppers was probably the best executed. Perhaps we didn't order the right dishes but was pretty underwhelmed. Our server never came to check if our food was okay, never offered a refill on our coffee or water. He came when it was time to bring us back our checks after another party came and gave us our check. The space was beautiful and def IG worthy but the service was less than adequate and unfortunately the food didn't make up for the lack of service. They were also dishes I normally wouldn't order myself like, Kale Cauliflower Caesar Salad and Burata cheese with pickled beets and perhaps pears, but so glad I got to try them. Been wanting to try this place out for brunch but haven't found the time, so figured I give them a try for dinner. There are two entrances to the restaurant, either through the Hotel Lobby or Main door which made it a bit tough for the hostess to know who to seat but they managed. Upon seating, my wife and I ordered fairly quickly since we had tickets to a show and went with cauliflower caesar salad, grilled octopus, and the fried chicken dish. I also had the Pretty Sultry Lullaby drink which was Japanese Whiskey with Black Tea which was extremely tasty. My wife went non-alcoholic with the Nitro Chai Black Tea and she can't stop raving about how refreshing and good it was. So drinks were top notch! As for the food, the grilled octopus was the highlight, tender and the flavors were on point and balanced. The cauliflower caesar was inventive and dressed well, and there was an option to add chicken to it but we passed since we ordered the fried chicken. The fried chicken plate had us torn since while the chicken was crunchy light with a touch of sweetness from the honey. The sides of collards greens were way too salty. The mac and cheese was good, but just a bit too heavy for more than a few bites. Overall, we were pleased with the food. Service was wonderful and made sure we left on time to our show. I came to Ben Paris for a casual quick dinner but left burnt out and exhausted. Hear me out. I booked a dinner for 2 which we got seated immediately. It's gorgeous inside so i was really excited. I ordered the duck confit and it came out hard and dry. Our waiter Fernando would show up every now and then but the entire dinner we had to request him. I wanted to send it back because of how disappointing the meal was and when I ordered something else it didn't show up for another 30 minutes. Fernando then comes after asking another waiter if they could get him for us and tells me that it'll be on the house. I was happy by now but when the check came I literally had to pay for my appetizer and my drink which was 40 dollars worth a meal including tip. I just hated how much he got my hopes up, I wish he'd actually comped my entire meal like he said instead of just the entree. The whole thing was a mess, we were waiting so long we totally forgot about dessert and just wanted to get out of there. Do you know how bad it's gotta be when you forget dessert?? Pretty bad Also!! Traffic terrible in Seattle today - we called in to let them know running late - the host was gracious and accommodating. Gorgeous mid century decor, love the vibe in the place. We were seated immediately with almost equal immediate attention of a waitress. Food portions were not overwhelming, and each bite was delicious. Wow, absolutely blown away by Ben Paris' baked egg shakshuka dish. I want to eat this every single day, for every single meal. Delicious. When it gets to your table, you'll first notice it's size. This isn't a small individual serving portion, you could likely share it, but you definitely wouldn't want to. Then, you'll get hit with the aromas. The sauce, still hot and bubbling, and the herbs that top it. Visually, it is nothing short of stunning. Photos attached as proof. Once you proceed to take a bite, you know life has changed. Buttery toast, dipped into a hot mountain of runny egg yolk and scooped up chickpeas that's are crunchy and perfectly roasted. Add avocado and it takes it to perfection. A very solid restaurant for both brunch and dinner. The ambience was very nice and the staff are friendly. I would 100% try the buttermilk fried chicken, which comes with kimchi, smoky bleu, and seeded honey glaze. It was so crispy on the outside and just perfectly cooked. I also tried the cauliflower caesar, which was also quite good. I would not try the buttermilk hush puppies, as it was extremely salty. Overall though, I would come here again -- the drinks looked very pretty so will come back here next time for the drinks. I heard they also do happy hour, so will definitely stop by for that :) A quick note this place is located downtown right around Pike Place Market, so parking around the restaurant can be a bit difficult to find... I struggled between 3 and 4 stars. Everything was just ok. The waitress seemed like she was in a bad mood, but she was friendly. It was a strange combination but it was fine. She came by often but it felt like she was rushing us more than waiting on us -- if that makes sense. I went with a group of 7 people. We ordered the poutine fries (fantastic and 10/10 would recommend; the pork was tender and delicious), fried chicken (interesting sweet/savory flavor on the chicken), mushroom risotto (unbearably cheesy but tasty; our friend could only eat a handful of bites bc of how cheesy and salty it was; we all took a bite and agreed, which is too bad bc the flavor is there), ribeye steak (tender, however the demi glace was a little salty), Brussels sprouts (nicely crisp), and the kale caesar/cauliflower salad (unbearably cheesy; couldn't finish it). The drinks were tasty, but inconsistent. Our table ordered the Gin Griffey juniper multiple times and it looked different each time -- from a dark purple to a pale pink after each order. Queen Bee tasted classic as expected. One of the waitresses to brought out our drinks spilled one of our cocktails and it spilled onto the seat and a friends jacket, and strangely we didn't even get an apology. The cocktail was an inch from the brim and she didn't offer to replace the cocktail -- an apology would have sufficed. But we made a comment to our main waitress and she comped then cocktail, which was nice of her. So overall, the experience was just okay but I do plan to revisit for their happy hour. We ordered the Parmesan Risotto and Cauliflower Caesar with chicken and enjoyed both dishes. We really loved the flavors of the risotto!! We decided to come for brunch on a Saturday, and thankfully we made reservations because it was busy! I had the baked eggs as my main dish, and loved the little bits of crunchy chickpeas in it. I was really looking forward to trying this out after walking by the restaurant a few times downtown and looking up all the delicious looking food online! First off, definitely try to make a reservation, especially during weekend brunch because it gets pretty packed. I came with a group of girlfriend for Saturday brunch around 11:30am and it was already busy. The restaurant itself is pretty new so everything is new and beautifully designed inside. We loved all the bright colors and wall art. For brunch, we ordered a few dishes to share: ricotta pancakes, fried chicken sandwich, wild mushroom hash and french toast. Everyone wanted sweet dish but thankfully I picked the fried chicken sandwich because it ended up being the best dish! Honestly we weren't very impressed by the rest of the dishes we ordered. The mushroom hash was ok, but I would not order the french toast or ricotta pancakes again. I think I will come back just to either try their happy our or dinner because I've been eyeing their poutine! Still a fun spot to do a girls brunch, but maybe try some of their other dishes! read more
