Hard pass!!! I've been wanting to try this place for months now and a friend came into town which created the opportunity to go. It's close in the neighborhood and a couple of my friends also wanted to try as well so we went on a Friday night. It's awkwardly placed on a strip which has a lot of oral businesses and we are houses but still this did not deter us. The place is nicely arranged and decorated and has Caribbean vibe to it which I like but the service was lacking from jump. Although the place wasn't packed the wait staff behaved frantic when dealing with tables. On more than one occasion we had different waitresses come and ask us for drinks or to take orders which was conflicting on my part. The drinks tasted disgusting and tasted like they were made with bottle mix I got a Mojito and had to send it back and then I got a daiquiri and had to send it back. Out of all the food we ordered my cousins was the one that tasted the best everything else tasted OK and the corn I had with toasted coconut the coconut was toasted a little bit too much and it was too dark. There was also an obnoxious drunk girl dancing all over the establishment and it seems like either she was a friend of the owner or the owner but she was somehow heavily affiliated with the business which it was just not fun seeing this drunk person parading all over the establishment like this while I'm trying to enjoy my dinner. I ordered delivery pretty late so it took a bit long but the food was extremely delicious. Even with the wait time it still arrived hot. I ordered the oxtails & ackee & saltfish. The mix vegetables were warm as well I prefer them this way and not the cold ones. A good portion size for both. Wish there was more gravy on the rice. Good evening I hope everyone weeks is going to be one to remember. Last night my cousin and I finally got to bellyful after talking about to all week. The host greeted us Proceeded to ask if we would like to dine inside or outside my cousin chose inside( bad idea when alcohol hits your system( whether in ac or not)) we were given our menus after a few minutes our server approached us and asked if we would like to start off with drinks uhhh YES Indeed. Water bottle or tap(bottle) ice or flat we chose opposites( guess who didn't drink theirs ( cousin flat lol) and they put a lemon on it. I ordered a classic mojito and cousin ordered the mango margarita and let's just say we didn't need another drink after that cousin actually had to get a weaker one cause well someone had to drive us home. I ordered the small plate of mussels with a side of mashed yam, the cousin ordered the honey glazed salmon she loved it. Usually I don't finish meals but last night I took nothing home. Canne in on a Sunday. Parking was right in the shopping complex. The place wasn't necessarily packed but they seemed to get a lot of traffic from Uber and take out orders. Outt waiter was very animated and friendly. The food took a bit long was we were enjoying the music. The loaded tortilla was amazing. I loved it. The jerk shrimp skewers were nice and crispy. The Mac and cheese was nice and hot. Perfect amount of cheese. The reggae pasta/ seafpod combo was okay. The seafood didn't necessarily win me over. I'll start off my saying this is not intended to bash the restaurant at all. It's to help them improve they seem like a new restaurant. With that being said overall the decor was nice I didn't eat in I placed an order for takeout. The lady who took my order didn't have the best customer service skills but that's okay it's expected from Caribbean restaurants. I was hoping that it was an indication the food would be good. We ordered the cod fish fritters - it was full of flour no codfish The vegetable roti - the skin came separate from the vegetables usually you request for it to come separately but they did that on their own which I personally don't like. I can't tell you how it was because I didn't eat it The "reggae pasta" - it's tri-color penne pasta with some sauce I can't identify but it's not creamy or spicy enough to be reggae pasta and I think it should be advertised as just pasta. I like that they used tricolor pasta The rum cake was ok maybe I'm being impartial because I've had rum cake from the islands when I went on holiday and I guess I shouldn't expect the same quality here in the U.S ... idk it wasn't firm enough and had a tangy after taste When picking up my order the service was a little better. The place is a little on the smaller side but it's workable. I quickly glimpsed a happy hour menu seemed decent so that's something to try. 6.99 drinks and 2.99 wings. I'm a vegetarian so I'd probably come back to try the drinks. Overall this place has potential and they should really take feedback from their customers. This was my second time at bellyful, I came here last week with my close friend. We both ordered an appetizers each and the Esco Fish with white rice and oxtail gravy. I actually took a video of my plate and not a real picture. After we had our apps and sat waiting for about 15-20 mins for the main course to come out. The waitress comes to our table to tell us that they ran out of white rice. I wish she would have told us that from the beginning. The food was great $18 for the fish, but I didn't like was the price of the drinks. Like whoa! My drink was $17 the name of the drink was "Brownin". No way my drink should have been a dollar less than my meal. Like why?! Lol my friend and I eat it A LOT, we know prices and when they are tooo high for certain items. I know it's covid and businesses are trying to make up for the money lost during the shut down. But you don't have to over charge your customers when either way people are going to come and spend money because they want to eat. Ok here's what happened to my friends and I. I wanted to share my love for this place since it was my 3rd time here. 1st time during happy hour. I also invited 4 other people for their first time. There were about 5 ppl there already, 3 at the bar with no drink. No problem. We joined them at the bar and made small talk with the bartender who informed us she wasn't a bartender and the owner would be right back. About 45 mins later with no drink we ordered our meals. I really dont want to drag this review out but it was not a good look at all, my friend corn was burned, her wrap wasnt good, I ordered spicy rasta pasta that taste like mac and cheese. My grilled jerk shrimp was good. My cousin ordered the salmon with peas and rice and the sauce on the salmon was overbearing. I couldnt eat it. I feel like I let them down big time. On top of that we came during happy hour and was charged regular for the drinks, btw I never received mine and was ok with that. I'll try this place again but they really really need to get it together. My friends said they wouldn't come back but I reminded them it just opened a few months ago so give them another chance. And not only it is a new spot - but it is a two level high ceiling bar restaurant spot vibing with an inviting upscale environment with great food and drinks. This was a last minute dinner and decided to take a peak at this new spot that I didn't know existed in the area. Upon arrival I was very pleased. Most importantly - the food did not disappoint.... let's get started: Appetizers: 1. Corn on the cob - off the chain - so good.... better than suede resto = hand down. 2. This is my second time here and I am hooked! It's a Jamaican husband and wife owned business and they truly outdid themselves. Everything is very flavorful and reasonably priced. The decor is beautiful with an open kitchen seen from the balcony level. I came for brunch on a Sunday and lunch on a Tuesday. Both times the service was fantastic. The codfish fritters are delicious! So much so that after my first visit, I ordered them via Uber eats a week later to satisfy my craving! I highly recommend the chicken soup, it's a stick to your bones MEAL that warms you from the inside out with its traditional Jamaican flavor. The chicken and waffles (what I stole from my boyfriend's plate) were also great, the chicken was well seasoned and nice and crispy, the vegetable curry was good the roti was nice and soft, but I really wanted the ital stew, that was unavailable. Cutting to the chase: 1. DISORGANIZED-we were there for almost 3 hours and not all of us got our meals. In fact, only 2 meals came in time to be eaten, the 3rd was brought up just as we decided to leave. We decided to leave. 2. POORLY EDUCATED-I called ahead earlier in the week to confirm they had gluten free items and they assured me they did, but when I asked at the restaurant, they said no. I spoke with some people from the kitchen and realized they had no idea what gluten-free meant. Not the place to go if you have food allergies. 3. NO ACCOUNTABILITY-when we received the bill, an 18% gratuity had been added. We asked that it be removed and the young lady who was "managing" that night refused. She became quite defensive. 4. UNPROFESSIONAL-because the food took so long and some of us were never served, we asked for the contact information for the owner. We were advised he was out of the country and we should leave our contact information so he could reach to us if he so chose. 5. NICE WAIT STAFF-on the plus side, the wait staff was very pleasant and took on the responsibility for apologizing for all of the flubs-something the manager should have done, but didn't. FYI-we are a group of 6 older adults who go out regularly, are always looking to support Black-owned businesses, have never made a complaint about anyplace we've been and had many choices of where to go. I received my beverage in timely matter but the food I ordered never came I waited close to an hour until I finally said something.
