If you are in the Chattanooga area and Judy can't decide what you want for dinner... Just book it to Bea and let them set you up! $21pp and you get a crazy selection of hot and cold dishes, fresh and pickled veggies, fried chicken, fried fish, pulled BBQ pork, corn bread, biscuits and whatever dessert is on the menu for the day. And then you get to ask for additional servings of the sides and mains you want more of! I don't think the decor has been changed must since they opened 50 years ago but that's ok because it's still all clean and comfortable. The staff is phenomenal and so friendly and the owners came by each table asking if all was well too. No frills, just great stick to your gut, home style Southern cooking! Seriously cannot wait to go back!

Great comments on the napkin holder

This place was a great surprise! The service was prompt, friendly, attentive, and make the experience memorable. The food was great. We had chicken, ribs, collard greens, corn, potatoes, cornbread, rolls, and likely some other things I forgot. The Apple cobbler dessert was great! This meal was a flat fee when you enter and the food just kept coming. The food is placed on a table that spins so you can bring the food right around in front of you. Look forward to visiting again.

Southern excellence, very tasty and abundant. Peach and apple cobbler with cookies completely satisfied my appetite.

The giant lazy Susan.

I really was hoping that Bea's was going to be as good as the person who recommended it to me!! Unfortunately it was not. The food was not very good. It's the kind of place where they bring out little dishes to the table, like a buffet without getting up. The greens were super salty. The potato salad was too sweet. The coleslaw was bland. The catfish and chicken were just okay, nothing special. And the peach cobbler was disgusting. However, the pasta salad was delicious and the rolls were light and fluffy. The service was excellent, fast and friendly. The restaurant was built in the 1950's and I doubt anything has changed since. Large tables with a lazy Susan in the middle. Old pictures from the 50's on the walls. I really wish it would have been better, but I just can't recommend it.

Good ole sweet tea

It's such a great concept. The service was amazing. The food was good but not great. However, the fried fish was very good.

Every one of the sides looks so good and fresh that I wanted to get each one of them just to try it! The fish was cooked perfectly and was nice and tender. The added little muffin I didn't expect was a nice touch and delicious. The collard greens were SO GOOD. I'd get them again. So flavorful and cooked well. The beets were fresh and the goat cheese carried so much flavor. For the desserts, we got the carrot cake with pecans and chocolate cheesecake. Both were soooo good. I would get both of them again, especially the carrot cake which was so warm and moist. And the candied pecans were such a nice complement to the cake - not too sweet at all. The ambience is super nice and fresh, and our server was so sweet and engaging. The hostess as well. Everybody there was so nice and welcoming. We came on Sunday brunch where we were told they use all of the ingredients from the week so nothing goes to waste and they create a new menu each Sunday to do this. I loved this ethos. We had crispy pork belly with celeriac purée and golden pickled beetroot and the chicken salad sandwich with potato hash. A little one had a lemon blueberry waffle, which I tried, and it was outstanding as well.. When I asked for a children's money if they did not have one, but they were incredibly accommodating and they said they can make us anything we want and gave us some examples! Also, while we were waiting for our food to come, they brought us some children's toys for our little one to play with, which was much appreciated. Love the ambience and the vibe of this place, has a very friendly and homegrown feel in the best way possible!

We had a brief interaction with him on our visit and he was so nice but it was as we were leaving. It's tiny and crowded and that's okay! But the servers are constantly being snotty brats at you for like, bothering to exist. We sat outside and everyone waiting was leaning with their butts pressed on our table. The food sounded better than it tasted but it wasn't bad. I just wasn't blown away. But honestly the girls working there were SO RUDE that I haven't been able to go back even though I want to give it a second chance. We waited for a while to pay but they didn't come back, and so many people were waiting, we went inside to let them run our card. Well, two of them screamed at us for "crowding" the space and then yanked the card out of my husband's hand and told him to go wait outside and chastised us for not staying out until they bothered to come. lol. Sorry for trying to pay. I wish we hadn't.

Selenna was our server and she was so attentive to our party of 6 as well as the other tables she was taking care of. The salmon on my strawberry feta salad was seasoned to perfection! They have another dining area and an outside area too. Hunter was our server and she was great! She had great recommendations and was an attentive, fun person. Our glasses never ran empty. We started with Jalapeno Cheddar Hushpuppies with Spicy Yogurt. My husband had the Smoked Brisket French Dip - Smoked Brisket, Caramelized Onions, Provolone Cheese, Au Jus, French Hoagie with Beer Battered Fries. I had The Motherclucker - Springer Mountain Farms Southern Fried Chicken, Spiced Pickles, Hot Sauce, Duke's Mayo, Niedlov's Bun. Hunter recommended adding Pepper Jack cheese and Bacon, as well as the Brussels Sprouts with Maple & Bacon. Everything was wonderful. There were way too many Brussels sprouts. It also would have been nice if they were cut into smaller pieces. They had a special dessert of Blackberry Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream. This brought back childhood memories of my grandmother's cobblers. My husband had the Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream.

It was also a beautiful day so we sat on the patio. I love that they work with local organizations for fresh vegetables and meat! Our waiter was very nice and fairly attentive. But the food... For the good - the crab cake was delicious. It was like all crab meat with no filler and was very tasty. The pimento cheese was also SO yummy. You could tell it was made fresh and had a great flavor. The pita it came with was fine, a little over-grilled. I was not crazy about the fried okra. I wish the pieces weren't just cut in half, because to me they had that slimy okra texture inside. My gf said they weren't THAT bad, but I really had to push myself to eat them. The rosemary fries have a great flavor and were crispy (I prefer thicker fries but my gf enjoyed these). I LOVE mac and cheese and was super excited to try theirs. It was very creamy and had a good flavor but there was way too much cheese for the amount of noodles. Like the ratio was pretty off. Now for THE issue. My gf ordered the Filet Mignon, medium. It came raw and without the blue cheese compound butter. By the time the waiter came to check on us, I was half done eating. He took the steak to be put back on the grill and brought it back with a bowl of crumbled blue cheese. It was still raw inside. He brought us extra fries, but by the time it came back I was done eating. She asked for it to go and it was STILL RAW. She had cut it, so it was super obvious if you looked. The manager came and talked to us and they took it off the bill, but for a $40 filet mignon it should not take 3 tries to cook it right and it still not really be right. She said there are cold spots on the grill and they're training a new line cook, but it was not a good look... I'd maybe give more of a pass if they were packed, but there was no one eating inside and maybe two other tables of folks outside.

They were okay, but for 5 bucks...what do you expect?‍. I would say the accompanying butter was supposed to be honey butter, but it seemed like regular butter to me! The server was polite, but I was scratching my head because she started with---"Let me go see what's not available anymore." Shouldn't she have done that before speaking to us?? The atmosphere is relaxed, but there isn't much to the decor. It was just casual.... there was brown butcher paper on top of white table cloths...kind of tacky really. It was busy, however, which added to the noise. Hubby and I both ordered the 1885 burger. Now, we are talkin'! The burger was delicious! . It was juicy and tasty. Just an all around fantastic burger. This alone is what will bring me and hubby back. The loaded baked potato was standard, but good too. It sounds like this experience wasn't great, but like I said, the burger alone is enough to go back to enjoy.
