My family and I went to Aunt Effie's for a late lunch on a weekday while on a road trip. We love stopping at local places whenever we have the time to. The restaurant has a chill vibe and serves southern food. Our service was really nice and helpful. We ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast Filet with Turnip Greens and the tomato and cucumber salad, Chicken and Dumplings with Fried Green Tomatoes and a Side Salad, and the Country Fried Chicken Fingers with fries and a Side Salad. Our food was so hot and freshly made when we got it! The chicken fingers were so soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside! If I go back I'd definitely get them again since I love a chicken finger/tender moment. The chicken and dumplings tasted just like chicken pot pie filling without the veggies. All in all we had a great meal. Parking outside is pretty easy. The restaurant is a part of a complex with a lot of other things and the whole complex has lots of free parking spots. Ordered a Reuben and club sandwich. Was told Reuben came with mustard instead of 1000 dressing. Server said that is how he makes it. Asked for the dressing and no mustard and marble rye. Got grilled regular rye and corned beef was chopped in little pieces. Server say that's the way he makes it. Club was ordered with toasted sourdough. What I got was grilled with all the meats fried and piled on. Bread so greasy fell apart. It was inedible. Server shrugged her shoulders and said don't know what to tell you that's how he makes it. Two horrible sandwiches $34. And no offer to fix it because THATS HOW HE MAKES IT!!! Would not recommend to anyone read more

Everything is amazing at Aunt Effie's. The fried chicken is on the bone and the flavor is like none I've ever had. This is a meat and three type restaurant, so the ambience is family friendly. We were never without service or waiting long for our food. My favorite restaurant so far in this area. The shops close by make for a fun day outing. read more

Stopped in 11-10-23 about 5:00. The restaurant was extremely clean. I was quickly greeted and my order taken. The food arrived after about 15 minutes. The pork chops were delicious, the creamed potatoes were good, the corn and beans could use a little more seasoning but overall were good. The server did a great job of checking on to see if I needed a refill from afar, and did a great job of checking but not interfering with dinner. Sometimes it seems you're being asked every 3-4 minutes if everything is alright, and that sometimes annoys me. A not-so-good fast food place on average is about $11-$12, so it's worth the extra few dollars to eat a good meal. I would absolutely recommend anyone that likes country cooking or comfort food to stop in and give it a try. You won't be disappointed. I would rate this place 4 1/2 stars if I could. read more

Sunday lunch was amazing. Restaurant was full so service was a little slow, but the food was worth the wait. Hand breaded chicken tenders are a 10/10, mashed potatoes and white gravy, okra, white beans and cornbread was all incredible. Others had fried chicken breast and gravy, deviled eggs, and chicken and dressing. Dessert was good as well, my new favorite feel good spot! read more

I had a short overnight stay in Ringgold GA, and based on reviews, I chose this for my dinner destination. It did not disappoint. I went with the fried chicken breast with sawmill gravy which was delicious. My two side choices were creamed potatoes and green beans. The gravy was tasty, yet didn't overpower the excellently prepared fried chicken. The inside was basic, but the food is the story here. My server, as well as the manager were friendly and professional. I highly recommend. read more

Absolutely shocked at the horrible service!!! Head waitress cursed out 94 yr old and 84 yr old military veterans just for requesting they turn down the ceiling fan!!! She then refused to let them speak to the manager! She threw their tip they laid on the table at them as they walked out!!! Cursing at them! The utter disrespect from the staff!!! Unbelievable!!!! Will never ever return to such a hideous place!!! If I could give them negative stars I would!!! portions are EXTREMELY small for the price. you'd get more bang for your buck out of a $2 tv dinner. i've eaten better food in jail, and that's saying alot.. the portion size is similar to an institution, almost felt like i was being served at a nursing home or something. not sure what the "fried corn" was, but it is not what i expected. it was inedible. the mashed potatoes taste boxed, zero hints of real potato and very watered down. the meatloaf had good flavor but the ketchup tasted very cheap like a knock off store brand. i am not sure how this place accumulated so many great reviews, (im literally shocked) because everyone says its so good, made me HAVE to try it... 0/10 worst doning experience i've had in a long time. read more

Effie's has been a staple of the Ringgold landscape for many years. After closing at the old location several years ago they have reopened downtown Ringgold. The menu looks as good as ever with plenty of home cooked option to quench your appetite for southern comfort food. I came early on a Sunday morning before 11:00 and the line was out the door. Expect slow service as they catch their groove. The food was ok but not yet back to the original version. I expect things will get better as they get more experience. read more

She's baaaaack! My childhood favorite restaurant that I've missed every single day since closing in 2011 is back and exactly the same. Home cooking and friendly atmosphere. Aunt Effie's is straight up manna from heaven delivered right to good ole' Ringgold. My heart could explode! Best chicken tenders, corn nuggets, roast beef, salads, squash casserole, RANCH dressing ever! First trip to the "new" Aunt Effie's since reopening last October. At one time we were regular customers before it closed its former location on Alabama Hgwy about a dozen years ago. I think they said one of the grand kids of the former owners decided to reopen but relocated to downtown Ringgold. As anyone will tell you, parking can be challenging for any business in this area, especially a restaurant, but we went somewhat late and got a space on Nashville St just a few doors down from Effies. Service was routine but my "country steak" (think Salisbury) was mediocre at best. Firstly, the serving size was pitifully small for a meat and three establishment -- barely the size of a small child's hand but very thin -- if it weighed more than 3 ozs I would be surprised. It came with three sides, i.e. potato and onions, cabbage and butter beans. The potato's were very thin and overly fried to a crisp and dried out and my butter beans were more liquid than beans -- I think I counted a total of 6 beans. The serving of cabbage was OK but also on the small side. My dinner was certainly not worth the $11.50 I paid for the "Thursday Night Special." My wife had the chicken fried steak and her steak was a more liberal portion as were her sides with two of them served on her plate while all mine were in three small serving bowls. Needless to say, I went in hungry and came out hungry and I am not a big guy plus I'm pushing 80 and just don't eat as much as I did when younger. We will probably go back and try again, but if this first experience is indictive of what to expect, I may not ever go back. Our bill for the two of us, with drinks (coke and tea) and a single slice of coconut cream pie came to $46 with tip. There are a lot of other places around where you can get a better meal for that price. read more

My daughter and husband live in Ringgold, so I come from California every few months to spend time with my grandbabies. We have tried all the "flashy" and "kitchy" restaurants in Chatt, but little did we know that the BEST food is right here in downtown Ringgold! I have long been a fan of real down-home cooking and haven't really enjoyed that authentic flavor made from scratch with fresh ingredients since my grandmother passed in 1995. Effie's ambience is like that of a small-town diner, as it should be. The menu is varied yet traditional American family favorites like meatloaf, chicken-fried, beef tips, etc, plus a slew of sandwiches and vegetable sides. We each ordered something different, and we each were thrilled with our selections. There is no mistaking home-made freshness! Our server was Sherry and she was delightful, attentive, and full of info about the food and the restaurant's namesake. What a wonderful meal! I will be heading back for the catfish and a whole lot of coleslaw on Wednesday. read more
