Chicken and Dumplings with Fried Green Tomatoes
    Reeta B.

My family and I went to Aunt Effie's for a late lunch on a weekday while on a road trip. We love stopping at local places whenever we have the time to. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a chill vibe and serves southern food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our service was really nice and helpful. We ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast Filet with Turnip Greens and the tomato and cucumber salad, Chicken and Dumplings with Fried Green Tomatoes and a Side Salad, and the Country Fried Chicken Fingers with fries and a Side Salad. Our food was so hot and freshly made when we got it! The chicken fingers were so soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside! If I go back I'd definitely get them again since I love a chicken finger/tender moment. The chicken and dumplings tasted just like chicken pot pie filling without the veggies. All in all we had a great meal. Parking outside is pretty easy. The restaurant is a part of a complex with a lot of other things and the whole complex has lots of free parking spots. Very convenient!

Pork chops, creamed potatoes, white beans, and fried corn.

Stopped in 11-10-23 about 5:00. The restaurant was extremely clean. I was quickly greeted and my order taken. The food arrived after about 15 minutes. The pork chops were delicious, the creamed potatoes were good, the corn and beans could use a little more seasoning but overall were good. The server did a great job of checking on to see if I needed a refill from afar, and did a great job of checking but not interfering with dinner. Sometimes it seems you're being asked every 3-4 minutes if everything is alright, and that sometimes annoys me. A not-so-good fast food place on average is about $11-$12, so it's worth the extra few dollars to eat a good meal. I would absolutely recommend anyone that likes country cooking or comfort food to stop in and give it a try. You won't be disappointed. I would rate this place 4 1/2 stars if I could.

Fried chicken breast with sawmill gravy.

I had a short overnight stay in Ringgold GA, and based on reviews, I chose this for my dinner destination. It did not disappoint. I went with the fried chicken breast with sawmill gravy which was delicious. My two side choices were creamed potatoes and green beans. The gravy was tasty, yet didn't overpower the excellently prepared fried chicken. The inside was basic, but the food is the story here. My server, as well as the manager were friendly and professional. I highly recommend.

portions are EXTREMELY small for the price. you'd get more bang for your buck out of a $2 tv dinner. i've eaten better food in jail, and that's saying alot.. the portion size is similar to an institution, almost felt like i was being served at a nursing home or something. not sure what the "fried corn" was, but it is not what i expected. it was inedible. the mashed potatoes taste boxed, zero hints of real potato and very watered down. the meatloaf had good flavor but the ketchup tasted very cheap like a knock off store brand. i am not sure how this place accumulated so many great reviews, (im literally shocked) because everyone says its so good, made me HAVE to try it... 0/10 worst doning experience i've had in a long time.

Effie's has been a staple of the Ringgold landscape for many years. After closing at the old location several years ago they have reopened downtown Ringgold. The menu looks as good as ever with plenty of home cooked option to quench your appetite for southern comfort food. I came early on a Sunday morning before 11:00 and the line was out the door. Expect slow service as they catch their groove. The food was ok but not yet back to the original version. I expect things will get better as they get more experience.

Great Southern meat and three. The chicken and dressing and cornbread are yummy! Busy on Sunday but not too long of a wait to be seated.

The white truffle mac and cheese was rich and indulgent, while the asparagus provided a fresh, lighter balance to the meal. I also ordered the smoked old fashioned, which was smooth, well-crafted, and paired beautifully with the steak. Bridgeman's focus on prime cuts and classic steakhouse offerings really shows in the execution. Service was polished and attentive from start to finish. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and checked in consistently without being intrusive. Drinks arrived quickly, courses were paced well, and the entire experience felt professional and seamless. Located inside the historic Read House, Bridgeman's Chophouse delivers the upscale steakhouse atmosphere you hope for on a night out. The dining room feels elegant without being stuffy, with warm lighting, classic decor, and a refined energy that makes it equally suited for date nights, celebrations, or business dinners. The setting elevates the experience and makes the meal feel like an occasion.

So there was a good-sized parking lot with alot of parking spaces. I got the Chicken Pad Thai at medium spice and a Thai Tea with boba. My friend and I also split eggrolls. I have to say, those eggrolls were phenomenal. They were just perfect in every way, they had a very crispy golden texture on the outside. The filling was very flavorful, the meat was seasoned well. I loved everything about it and out of the many Asian restaurants I've been to in the area, their eggrolls are my favorite and at the top of my list. My Chicken Pad Thai was decent. The spice level was perfect, flavor was good, and the portion size was very nice. For me, I feel like flavor could've been a little stronger, it just felt weak to me. My entree was okay, not bad at all by any means, but it just wasn't my favorite. It didn't stand out to me. I'd probably go to another place for their Pad Thai rather than here. The Thai Tea itself was delicious, it was sweet, creamy, and still had that Thai Tea flavor that shined through. However the boba/tapioca pearls were very tough. It was very tough and hard to chew. It didn't taste like a fresh batch, they weren't soft and chewy at all so I'm assuming it's from an older batch from a couple hours ago. The inside was alright, there were many tables to sit and eat at. Once we got inside, the server told us to sit anywhere we'd like and order at the front. But once I made my way to the cashier to order, the floor was very sticky. It was noticeable with every step I took. We had a decent experience, but I'm not sure I'd return.

One table was occupied so we were seated quickly. Our server was friendly but very hurried, making us feel rushed. Given we had not been, we needed more time than we felt comfortable taking to decide. We ordered the General Tao's Chicken as well as dumplings for an appetizer. The cook was not as hurried as the server and we did wait for longer than one would expect with only two tables in use. The plating made the food look good, but the taste just did not reach the level we had hoped to find. There was not much taste to the sauce on the chicken nor the heat we've become accustomed to when eating General Tso's Chicken. There was no spice at all. The dumplings were the only redeeming factor for this meal. We decided we will stick with the other Asian restaurant in town. Would go back if friends insisted on going, but this is not a place we are inclined to visit on our own.

Everything about this experience was top-notch! From being seated quickly upon entering, to explaining how the ticket validation thing worked (more info at the end), customer service was some of the best I've been shown. The ambiance is chic but casual-great for both cozy date night or fun family night. Our server was so friendly and patient as we asked questions about the menu. I ordered the grilled salmon with spicy crab remoulade and my guy ordered the smoked wings with a side of fries. I was happy that I was able to select my own sides from the ones on the menu so I opted for the fried Brussels sprouts with maple and bacon and the buttermilk whipped potatoes. After a short wait, our food was brought out. This was truly one of the best salmon dishes I have ever eaten! The salmon was cooked to my liking, the potatoes were soft and fluffy and the fried Brussels sprouts were absolutely divine and perfect. The remoulade was a little salty but it may have been just been my taste. The potatoes helped with that so it was not a deal breaker. My guy was pleased with his food as well and I could tell he enjoyed everything he ate. We agreed that we would take this trip back just to eat this meal again. It was truly a wonderful experience, from beginning to end. I highly recommend trying this gem out! Pro Tip: The restaurant validates parking. If you park in the lot across the street, do not prepay on the app or online. Ask the servers at the front to validate to save the $18 parking fee before you order and within 15 minutes after entering. Unfortunately, we didn't do this and the restaurant cannot reimburse the money after you've already paid. You've been warned!
