We were traveling through Chattanooga and I googled Barbecue Restaurants and Chatt came up, so we thought we would give it a try. We ordered a Pork Sandwich, Potato Salad and Fried Okra. We had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and it was one of the best, we've ever had, very hefty and messy, the barbecue sauce was amazing. The potato salad was also amazing and a nice portion. We've never had Fried Okra before and was a little reluctant, but to my surprise it was delicious. This was the first restaurant we tried in Chattanooga and if the others are as good, we will look forward to returning to Chattanooga. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Stopped by here while my dog was going through chemotherapy at VCSG. The smell as you walk up to the front door was incredible. Super friendly staff. This place was on point! Myself and 3 others went here to eat. We are in town to do some training and we are all from out of town. I found this place on Yelp and a lot of the reviews were not very recent, so I was a little hesitant to eat there. I looked them up on their website and I saw that the owner was one of the cooks. In my experience, whenever the owner is hands on and enjoys cooking for his community it is usually a good sign. This definitely caught my attention. We decided to give it a try. We all went there for dinner and we ordered their Rib Plate. They have different types of sides. I had the potato salad and bbq beans. I also had their sweet tea and banana pudding for desert. Let me tell you, the ribs were outstanding!!!! The meat was very tender, it fell off the bone, you can taste the smoke in it, the sauce was perfect, and they give a lot of ribs. The potato salad was good and the bbq beans were delicious. The sweet tea was awesome and the banana pudding cake was delicious. They have seating inside and outside. The owner even came out and talked with us and the other customers. The young lady running the register was very welcoming, professional and very sweet. Customer service was superb. I ordered the ribs with beans and fried okra with a sweet tea. The food came out in a styrofoam container and was pretty full and looked and smelled great. Good amount of food unlike many other places that skimp on food. Ribs were tasty and sauce flavorful, fried okra was hand breaded and beans were good with a slight mustard flavor, sweet tea was good but could use a bit more tea flavor. The pork was cooked to perfection and tasty, and slathered with a nice BBQ sauce that was a little sweet. This is my preferred style and it was delicious. The potato salad was my favorite "backyard style" with a little touch of sweet. It was excellent. And the baked beans were also great, also with a hint of sweet. The service was warm and friendly. There is no indoor dining here right now, but you can place your order inside (or over the phone) and they will bring it out to you. They have tables on the outdoor patio, so we opted for that, and one of the employees came out right away to open an umbrella for shade for us. The food was ready quickly, and everything was exactly as we ordered and very good. If you're not a sauce person, be sure to let them know. Now, I'm just passing through, never been in that part of 'Nooga before, but I'm feeling like Aladdin who just found a magic lamp. The food was served promptly, and EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!!! The ribs were super tender and sauced perfectly. The mac & cheese was homemade, not the watery box mac & cheese you commonly find in most restaurants. The greens were also seasoned, just like at home. There were so many ribs underneath what you see in the picture. I couldn't finish my plate, and I took the hotdog home for later. I try to keep an open mind about the restaurants I visit. I love visiting restaurants and want them to succeed. That being said, I have a problem with restaurants who don't try or care about their customers We searched online for a good barbecue place and saw Chatt Smoke House with decent reviews...which still baffles me. We walked 13 minutes from our hotel, to a shady area of town. Right away, we had bad vibes, as the restaurant was dirty on the outside with a handwritten note in the window. Inside was just as bad, with filthy floor, tables and chairs. The cashier was eating chips, put them away, and brushed off her hands before taking our order. My wife ordered the Barbecue Chopped Chicken Dinner with coleslaw and baked beans. I ordered the Barbecue Beef Dinner with fries and baked beans. We waited for about 25 minutes before our number was called. Unfortunately, when we got to our room and tried the food, it was absolutely DISGUSTING! My wife's chopped chicken was supposed to be barbecued, but was so undercooked, it crunched and had a sour taste. My Barbecued beef was literally Curly's or Lloyd's beef, just reheated. the sides were cold...even my fries were cold. A complete waste of $30.00 for terrible, undercooked, grocery store food you could make for $8 at home. Don't make the mistake we did. Save your money and patronize restaurants which care about the customers. No restaurant should take advantage of their customers by serving them bad/undercooked food, and then charging them. It was the unexpected things that become the best experiences. This was the case of going to Chatt Smoke House. Could not have been the most nicest people at an establishment to the level of almost being at home or feeling like being at home. Accessible parking behind the building or even on the street the business like many others in the area have seen a reduction of patron due to the covid-19 pandemic. I get the feeling that this establishment went out of their way to make me feel good as a customer despite their own policy restrictions such as dining in that I cannot ignore that point in writing this review. I want to shout out to the Cook ..i believe his name was Marcus (if it isnt..i apologize) who did an excellent job of giving recommendations on what was good what was not good on the menu. He was a very peaceful and courteous brother on letting me know what was good on this menu he went out of his way to get me a plate that was heavily filled with portions (thank you very much) and attentive to detail for customer service as something I been striving from all Businesses in general. Couldn't have been better. I also want to shout out the owner James (see picture of us) who introduced himself to me. Couldn't had been a nicer gentleman!!!! Located along MLK Bldv, parking is hit or miss, but that's nothing to do with the restaurant. We parked up the street a bit and walked about two blocks. As we got closer, the aroma pulled us in even faster. It smells amazing from the outside and even better inside. Walking in, you go to the rear to place your order. We talked to the hostess/ server for suggestions. I went with the beef plate because beans and potato salad are staples for any bbq place. My dining partner tried the chicken plate. We grabbed a table near the front windows and only had to wait maybe 10 minutes for our order to come out. The beef was as amazing as the aroma promised. Tender and moist, and there was a good portion size. The potato salad was fine and the beans were pretty good. My dining partner really enjoyed the chicken. It also was moist, and the smoke flavor was subdued. Her fries were prepared correctly.
