Food was good except for the brisket. They smoke said they smoked for 10-12 hours which could be fine depending on the pounds. I asked at the door whether the brisket was good and the guy told me it was what they were known for. I was hesitant to order it just because brisket is a difficult cook and I haven't had great brisket outside of my home state of Texas. It had to be cut with a knife (which should be a crime) and was clearly just not smoked long enough. Flavor was okay from the rub. My wife, who is from Alabama, also agreed the brisket was bad. I loved this spot! Very "vibe-y" with a huge wrap-around porch and a seat yourself situation. I stopped someone working inside to ask what to do and he said to pick my table (or order) and then I'd get a number and they'd bring it to me. He also said since I was clearly a newbie - to tell them and I'd get a free banana pudding. The gal behind the counter was nice and able to make some recommendations on the menu. It took about 20 minutes to get my food but, when it came out it was delicious and fresh. The pulled pork was perfectly smoked and had some black spots (delish). I chose the baked beans and potato salad as my sides. Potato salad was delicious and the baked beans had some pulled pork inside. The banana pudding was probably some of the best I've had. Bananas were completely fresh and loaded with fresh waifers. A lot of times if they make it in bulk, the waifers are soft and bananas are brownish. Not here, fresh as if they made it to order.... noms! I loved sitting out on the deck at sunset and enjoyed myself quite a bit. They do have tons of seating inside in a more bar atmosphere and had a large area with some playhouses for children. I have to update my review and take away a star. We don't visit Chattanooga often, but on our last trip, 2 years ago, we discovered Edley's BBQ and decided it would be our go-to BBQ spot whenever we're in town. Customer service and atmosphere are still solid, and the presentation of the food was great! Everything looked delicious when it arrived. This time, I decided to try something different and ordered the smoked wings platter with white BBQ sauce, baked beans, and potato salad. Jalapeño Cornbread was added to each meal. Unfortunately, the smoked wings were a letdown. They had a fatty underdone texture that was unappealing. It was almost as if a step was missed in the cooking process. They were just too soft for my liking. Also, I'm not a fan of Jalapeño Cornbread. I prefer my Cornbread without the jalapeños, but I ate most it anyway. For some reason, the Jalapeño Cornbread had a dish soap taste to it. It was weird. On the positive side, the baked beans were flavorful with a nice kick, and the potato salad was just as good as I remembered. Is Edley's still our go-to BBQ spot? Absolutely! The atmosphere is very cute, they have a terrace seating area with screening to prevent bugs and heat lamps, very comfortable. Inside the atmosphere is log cabin-y, a little dark but fits the theme. I asked the bartender his favorite dish and he said the brisket tacos. I almost ordered this but asked the girl taking our order if that or the ribs was better and per her recommendation i had the half slab. I was visiting from out of state and stopped by with my small service dog, asking to be seated outside. What I believe was the manager greeted me with an unfriendly attitude and told me I had to order at the outside bar. I wasn't even allowed to sit at an outdoor table to place my order. As I started walking through to the outside bar, he told me I needed to back out and couldn't take a few steps inside to get there. It felt unnecessarily rude and lacking any basic courtesy--definitely no southern hospitality here. When I finally placed my order, I asked for the brisket and was told they were out. I tried another beef option--also out. I asked if they were out of all beef, and the server said yes, only pork and chicken were available. I settled for a chicken sandwich, which was extremely plain and didn't come with any sides. Between the poor attitude, lack of warmth, and being so understocked, I left disappointed.
