Hey, I'm from Memphis, and BBQ is like a love language for me. This cute shack has good solid food. It's take-away mostly with just a few spots to dine in or under the smokehouse area. Nothing fancy here, which is how you want it. Smoke flavor is good. Coleslaw was okay, but needs to commit to being either creamy or not. The BBQ Baked Potato was very tasty and a good size portion. Went back for 2 nd round of Memphis St. the portions were huge. Had French fries, Cole slaw and 1/2 burger. Everything was delicious. Expected a more smoky taste on burger but not a problem. The fries were great to many to eat. The Cole slaw was tasty needed more mayo or dressing but again not a problem. read more

The bbq here is great and I've been here now 4 or 5 times. The amount of ribs and meat is worth the money. Their fire bbq sauce is great I always ask for extra and they never charge for extra sauce. The people are always friendly and excited and welcoming when you come in. They give great suggestions if you don't know what to get there. I don't know where to start, let's just say you can't go wrong with what ever you order. Meats are cooked to perfection, so tender. Brisket is unbelievable. Try it all!! PARKING - There seems to be ample parking in various spots. ATMOSPHERE - This place feels like a authentic BBQ place and love the non chain feel. You could smell the BBQ in the parking lot. The place is small and kept clean. There are only 3 or 4 small tables. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. STAFF - The one staff member at the counter was very friendly and we did not feel rushed. There were others that came in behind us and multiple other people to pick up orders and she handled everyone flawlessly and the same polite attention. FOOD - The food was pretty good. I prefer dry rub ribs and these had pretty good flavor. They were a little on the small size based on some of the pictures I seen before coming but no complaints with the taste. The brisket portion that I had was a little fatty but there were some good pieces in there and it all tasted great. My son really liked his brisket sandwich. PRICE - The price seems comparable for the area and the amount of food you get. THE GOOD - The service great - The taste of the food was really good, smoke flavor present - The BBQ sauce is good Other mentions... We only got one container of BBQ sauce for two platter meals. Not that big of a deal and I'm sure I could have asked for more. There is no soda fountain and have to buy bottle drinks. There were only 3 sides. French fries, tater tots and slaw. Not too many options and would have loved something unique or mac and cheese, corn or something more BBQ side friendly than fries or tots. I do have to say they were pretty good though and imagine with a small place and big menu they can't add too many sides. Would be nice to upcharge more to allow us to get banana pudding or another desert as a side. I would give 4.5 for these reasons but Yelp does not do half stars. read more

Best BBQ, slaw, and beans in Chattanooga. Brisket is excellent ONLY if freshly sliced, most of the time they serve it it's dried out from being sliced earlier. Not really something they can avoid if the brisket isn't selling fast for the day. Banana pudding is really good too. I wish they had fresh sweet tea to drink. I stopped by and grabbed a brisket platter for lunch. The customer service was excellent. But most importantly, the brisket was really good. Really good brisket is hard to nail, but Memphis Street produces a product that is juicy, tender, and perfectly balanced with smoke and seasoning. So far, I haven't found another BBQ restaurant in Chattanooga that has brisket anywhere close to this. Check out the smoke ring on the brisket. The potato salad and baked beans were really good too. Food was OK, I had brisket and it was good but nothing about it stood out from other brisket I've had in other BBQ restaurants. Not a lot of choices for sides which is disappointing to me. I've eaten here several times and had their ribs, pork plate, baked beans, deviled eggs, and fries on various occasions. The food is always tasty and I keep going back. Paul, the owner, is always friendly, and he and the staff give excellent service. It can be pricey but the food is always good. I would suggest serving iced tea because I don't drink soft drinks.
