This tiny little bbq place is a great local favorite, so it was time to try it out. Know for bbq beef, pork and ribs you could see the wood pile to the side of the building. Another item we were suggested to try was the killer baked potato. So beef, it was a nice smoky bbq but not my personal favorite and a little tough. Killer potato loaded with bbq was actually really good. This is a low cost bbq that could be enjoyed frequently. The building is small with counter service and no indoor seating. There are a few tables outside to enjoy your meal. The staff was super friendly and we were served quickly. This would not be my choice to go out for a big ole bbq dinner, however if it feels like a fast food night? Dixie would be a great alternative. read more

Easy to find at the corner of Middle Valley and Boy Scott road. Its across the street from the Exxon gas station at the lighted intersection. Parking is right in front of the building on a gravel surface. There are only about four marked spaces but there is more parking along the side of the building if needed. This is primarily a take out spot, although there are a few seats under the awning along with several picnic tables with umbrellas to the side. You go up three steps to the window to order. The menu is below the window and includes the expected items. I ordered the special, which was a pork sandwich, logs, and a drink. The logs are chunks of potato deep fried like French fries. My sandwich was ready in under five minutes. It would have been quicker except the logs were freshly made. No complaints either way. The sandwich was good but not great. The pork had a slight smoked flavor but the meat was a bit dry. The slaw and bbq sauce helped. The logs are indeed chucks of potato, and I got a lot of them. I was certainly full after finishing. Truth be told, I also finished off the pork that fell out of my sandwich as well. Dixie is certainly a viable option for a quick lunch. read more

My youngest and I decided to pick up some Killer Potatoes and okra on the way home from Dixie BBQ. We purchased a pork and a chicken killer potato. Both potatoes were good. They do not have a spicy bbq sauce so that was disappointing but the regular was flavorful. The okra was standard - which is a shame because they used to have the kind with a bit of a cornmeal texture which was outstanding BUT it's been a while since we've eaten here so this could be old news. What made this a 2 star was the customer service. The lady at the window was rude to her helper in the kitchen and rude to my son. He knew the young lady working inside and asked how she was doing and this lady shut the window while she was replying. We were shocked! This same quality of food can be gotten at several different BBQ restaurants in the area so that ugly attitude can be avoided. Hopefully she finds the sunny side of the street for other customers. If you pay with credit card, there is a fee. There are a few benches to eat at if you wish to eat in location (this is a "walk up window" outside establishment). Good Luck! read more

Cute bbq shack on the corner. Looks like a great place with all the smoke bellowing out of the smoker. It's a little more than a take out place with a walk up window and no tables to sit at. I order a beef and pork sandwich. Bread was fresh and the sandwich was warm but not much smoky flavor. Both sandwiches came with a tablespoon of coleslaw and bbq sauce. Maybe their ribs or burgers are better, but I don't think I'll be coming back to give them a try. read more

My review, the bbq beef, was probably the best I've ever had. It was tender and not full of fat and gristle like at most bbq joints. The potato salad reminded me of my grandma's. The baked beans were sneaky. On the first bite, I wasn't thrilled, but then the flavor hit me. There were shreds of beef that were like little gifts from God. The Texas toast was the exact exclamation point to a fantastic lunch. The staff is very friendly and the prices are fare and won't break the bank. For God's sake folks, just figure in the charges and let folks decide what they will pay and put the bottles out like EVERY other bbq place we frequent! Nice try. But no cigar. Pork is way too chunky. Sauce is way too salty. Coleslaw (the thimble full that comes with sandwich) is really good. Baked beans are exceptional. Onion rings are a sizeable portion, although the oil is strange. Will try ribs, though. Best wishes! read more

Still going strong at the corner of Boy Scout & Middle Valley. Every plate is made to order, when ordered. I like the tender, succulent, lean, pulled-pork on my 'plate-filling' Loaded Potato. They don't call it loaded for nothing, folks! The mac & cheese is pretty tasty, and there are the usual sides available, as well. Everything I've tried is seasoned on the 'mild' side, easily corrected for those like myself who enjoy a bit more torque with the pork! This is not a restaurant but a stand where you order and you can either sit at a bench and eat or take it home. I've had the pork sandwich which was delicious, I've had their cheese sticks which are equally delicious, and I think they have one of the best burgers in town. In fact, the cheeseburger is probably my favorite item on the menu. In true southern fashion, you should definitely have a sweet tea with your food. read more

I wanted to give 4 stars (guys, it's fried chicken and burgers !) but eventually it's a 5 Great job for kosher food and to allow us to have KFC experience - we drove from brickell to try you guys ! It was full of people but they sorted it out Also they have this huge machine-vent so you don't smell anything inside ( great investment !) Definitely my favorite killer/loaded/whatever you call it potato. This is just a shack in a gravel lot on the corner of Boy Scout and Middle Valley Roads, across from a Kangaroo. I always get the potato with chicken rather than pork. Even if it does happen to be dry like a lot of bbq chicken is, it's impossible to tell because the other ingredients are so good. And it's so cheap! I think it's under $6 for the massive potato. The only sad point is they are not open on Sunday, which meant I had to go elsewhere on this visit for a less than stellar potato. I think also they are not open in the middle of the afternoon, hard to tell because they do not have a website from what I've seen, and you can't exactly catch the hours by simply driving by. read more

Didn't have a pleasant experience. Called in a killer beef potato, kids chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, chopped beef sandwich, 2 orders of fries, and banana pudding. She repeated "chicken sandwich" and I said "no, a chopped beef sandwich". She got an attitude with me and said' "no you SAID a chicken sandwich. It was loud so I can understand how it could have sounded like that, but I didn't appreciate the attitude. My husband should have checked the order, especially with how ordering went, but he didn't. They didn't include the fries at all. I was really looking forward to this meal, as we always ordered Dixie BBQ when I would come for a visit from out of town. It had been at least 7 years since I had had it. The beef tasted like water. The BBQ sauce is still very good, but they didn't put much on the sandwich or potato. read more

That was some really good, smoky, salty pork on my loaded potato. It would have been great even without the sauce (which was also quite tangy and tasty). Loved the way the meat was layered on top of the sour cream and cheese - that potato really is the best I've had in town. The deep-fried sides, especially the breaded pickle spears and the tater tots, were top notch. The potato salad and slaw were okay, not too much mayo but not as flavorful as I'd hoped. But that won't keep me from going back. Dixie BBQ may be second to Petunia's for best BBQ in Chattanooga. read more

I have only eaten here once. It was a decent experience. The food was regular, nothing special. I ordered the ribs, fried okra, and slaw. When I get home, I had no slaw. The fried okra was good. The ribs were mediocre. They did not have any taste of smoke or spice. They came with sauce which tasted like it came from a grocery store shelf. The ribs were very tender, but had very little taste. I doubt the ribs spent any time in the spoke smoker, although they look like they had, so they may have. I suspect they were cooked in an oven or under pressure. read more

We have lived close by for 24 years and for at least 20 years frequent customers.........until today. There is never an excuse for rude behavior, even if your food is fine. The policy should be to treat the customer politely. They keep you in business.. My husband and son-in-law were spoken to in a very rude manner. We will never patronize them again. If you are ordering call ahead, or are in a hurry, be sure and allow ten to fifteen extra minutes. They have never had my food ready when they say. Also everything that comes from their fryer tastes like onion rings. To some this may not be a problem ha. Hot sauce is really good but costs extra, and everything is served on colonial, white bread.
