    Brisket, lean
    Gene L.

After a long afternoon of hiking, we were famished and followed our noses toward the smoke, and came across ChatterBox. We got a half pound of brisket as well as the chicken plate with two sides (beans + mac&cheese). Everything was sooo good. Chicken: cubed/shredded with a smoky/cinnamon/nutmeg flavor; nice and moist and paired well with the sauce Beans: Sweet, and watched them scoop them right out of the smoker after ordering. Perfect side to go with the meats. Mac&Cheese: Delicious with a nice peppery bite. Can't go wrong with this one Brisket: got sliced some lean brisket; nice visible pink smoke ring, sweet caramel-ly bark; had a good smoky flavor and paired well with the sauce Ok let's stop and talk about Brandon's sauce, which absolutely stole the show. Probably the best barbecue sauce I have ever tasted!! The spicy sauce is like crack... slightly sweet, some cinnamon notes, and just enough heat. I would buy jars of this stuff!! Also Brandon who runs the joint is as nice and welcoming as they come. He seems to do a lot for the neighborhood and community too which is awesome to see. If you are craving some BBQ and want to support a small business doing it right, def check out ChatterBox!

Impossible burger topped with House Made pimiento cheese.

I've seen this business post a lot of good looking food on Instagram, so I thought I would stop in for a try. Brandon is now making vegetarian options with Impossible burgers which was amazing. It's hard to find BBQ places that have vegetarian options so 3 stars just for that! The burger was topped with a homemade pimiento cheese spread which was okay but when I put the sweet BBQ sauce on, it was all over! It was soo good and flavorful. My husband had the ribs and he said that they are some good a** ribs. They were super tender and were very easy to get off the bone. He had them with the Spicy BQQ which was also very tasty. Overall, our experience was awesome and will return again!

I had 2 brisket sandwiches today from Chatter Box and they were perfectly smoked and delicious. The meat was piled high and had very little fat. My taste buds were the happiest they have been in awhile. I loved the slaw with apples and the sauce tastes like it has apple sauce in it too. This is not like regular bbq. This is top shelf. The staff was friendly and service quick. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

I didn't realize this establishment was outdoor seating only, but luckily, it was comfortable weather while dining. We placed our order with Brittany, who kindly told us they didn't serve beer, but they had no problem if we brought some over from the gas station across the street. We ordered the brisket plate with smoked mac and cheese and fried okra. The brisket was absolutely DELICIOUS, so tender and tasty, with a very nice marbling of fat. I could detect just a hint of smoke in the mac and cheese, but it was cheesy and the perfect consistency. The fried okra was lightly fried so you can taste it, rather than dark fried crisps I get frequently get. We shared the platter, and had enough left over to brown bag a sandwich! The only thing that kept me from scoring 5 stars, was that I thought the kitchen area behind glass, looked disheveled and messy, as did the outside of the building.

Was driving by today and caught the smell of the BBQ and saw a crowd out front. Circled back and they had a small band playing out front while smoking a hog. Can't beat the small shack type BBQ places. Some of the best I have had come from places like this. Brandon was out cooking and chopping pork while the music played. He seems like a great guy and took time to callout the young band and young men who did a great job playing. I went inside to order as a small line moved ok. Got BBQ sandwich with bake beans. The beans are different from any I have had. Mixture of spice, peppers but not too hot. BBQ was fresh, moist and tons of flavor. May try some ribs next time. Not much seating but great to take with you. If you have time give it a try. If busy it might take a little time to fill order but worth the wait.

Pick 3 combo! Brisket, ribs, pulled pork, smoke mac, baked beans, apple honey slaw.

I'm not a brisket girl...until today!! My husband came home with a lunch plate from Chatter Box. The smell alone made me interested. Not 5 minutes later I'm standing over this box with a whole new love for brisket!! Wow, I've just never found the right place which is why I've never been a lover. The sauce with cinnamon is also amazing. So, I had entree envy from his lunch and the next time he goes back I'll be getting my own.

If you pull at the meat, there's a solid chance all of it will come right off the bone. I ordered spare ribs and corn, and both came out very quickly. The ribs were obviously the highlight, but the corn was really good too. Since you order at a counter near the entrance, it's a little hard to fully rate the service, but the process was simple and efficient. They also gave us cabbage to feed the goats outside, which was unique and fun. The seating area is near windows with a great view of the mountains, which makes the experience even better. I downloaded Yelp just to write this review, so that should say enough. Definitely recommend Sugar's Ribs, especially for the spare ribs.

Neither were sauced and while the sauces on the table were plentiful, they were watered down. Too liquid to really stick to the meat and provide any flavor. Sad because the options looked interesting yet fell flat on taste. I absolutely loved the location. Up on hill, overlooking the skyline of Chattanooga was a beautiful site. It offered a relaxing diner feel with a good amount of space to enjoy my meal without other patrons being on top of me.

We got several platters (chicken and pork) and various sides. Everything was so good and tasted like your family made it for you. Some standout items: the coleslaw is super finely chopped which gives it a really good texture, flavor is great. The potato salad was creamy and perfectly seasoned. The pork was so Smokey and tender. Their sauce is super great, would pour that on everything. The fried okra was so tasty, we ate every piece. They have so much cheese in the poppers, delicious. The food was good, but the major drawback is that a large plate only had four ribs, one of which you could barely call a rib. The second, drawback for me is that the ribs came with sauce already on them. That's like a major no-no in my book. I know, everybody has their preference, but I prefer to sauce my own food if I feel that it's necessary. To be honest, barbecue should stand on its own without sauce and sauce should only be there to enhance the flavor. The meat was tender, but I couldn't really get a feel for the flavor of the meat because the sauce interfered with that. The pulled pork plate was good. Also, my girlfriend said she enjoyed that. But again, sauce should come on the side in my opinion. I have no real complaint against this place, but I wish I had known ahead of time that the ribs came with sauce on them and I wish that I had known that there were only four ribs on the plate, I would've ordered a whole rack. Prices are good, the place is clean, and as I said, the owners are very welcoming and warm people. Give this place a go, it's worth a trip! But just ask questions before you order!

No fluff, no gimmicks... just straight-up barbecue done right. I ordered the super sampler, which comes with five meats and three sides for $48, and let me tell you... the portion size is insane. This isn't your typical sampler you share between two people. This is easily enough food for four or five people. The pictures honestly don't do it justice. Let's talk about the meats. The brisket was everything you want. Juicy, tender, perfect fat-to-meat ratio, and the bark was excellent. Same with the ribs -- tender but still holding together when you pick them up. No sauce needed at all. The pulled pork... I don't say this lightly... this is the best pulled pork I've ever had. It melts in your mouth and is packed with flavor. It actually made me wonder how good their pulled pork sandwich must be. The sausage surprised me. I usually get tired of sausage quickly, but this one had a unique flavor and was one of the best I've had. The chicken was also tender, juicy, and well seasoned. Now the sides... Cheesy grits were extremely flavorful and easily compete with some of the best I've had. Mac and cheese is simple, homemade, and done right. The green beans were some of the best I've ever had -- not sure what they're doing, but it works. Potato salad was excellent, baked beans were sweet and spot on, and even the Brunswick stew (which I don't usually go for) was solid with a more tomato-forward flavor. Dessert sealed the deal. The banana pudding absolutely lives up to the hype. Every bite has those crushed wafers mixed in, and the texture and flavor are just perfect. One of the best banana puddings I've had anywhere. They also have multiple house sauces (Carolina, Texas-style, Georgia-style), and the Georgia sauce was my favorite. Service was A+. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, even while the place was packed. And yes, it gets PACKED. I got there right when they opened and there was already a line. They do have extra seating outside, but if you don't get there early, be prepared to wait or take it to go. Parking, though, is actually not an issue. There's parking across the street, some on the side, and a large dirt lot in the back where most people were parking. Even with how busy it gets, there's plenty of space if you know where to look. I honestly can't believe a place this good is tucked away in northwest Georgia. This is one of those true hidden gems... but the locals clearly already know. This ride was 100% worth it. This is easily top two barbecue spots I've had in Georgia... and it might be pushing for that number one spot.

We got to choose our table and had friendly service the whole time. Note that although the service is pretty good, the food coming out was a little slow. We got the 3 chicken tender basket, catfish basket, the smoked buffalo wings, and banana pudding. The buffalo wings were the highlight. Great smokiness coming through the wings. Just a little bit of heat from the buffalo sauce. Highly recommend. Everything else was pretty good. The chicken was tender, and good crisp to the outside, and good seasoning. The catfish was pretty good too although they were pretty thin so didn't get quite as much of the crunch to tenderness contrast that I like in a catfish. Also, their tartar sauce is too sweet. I prefer more tang on the sauce. I think the sauces run sweet as I thought the champy sauce was a little too sweet over mustard-y. Good fries with great texture and seasoning. I also got the green bean sides which were a little soft but great, depth of flavor as it was clearly cooked with pork. The potato salad was good if not memorable. The kids loved the banana pudding. A little too much of the cream and not enough pudding but otherwise worth getting. All in all a strong chicken spot to visit while in Chattanooga.
