I really had high expectations for this place. Total waste of money and time! Workers were weird to interact with. There was just a disconnect all the way around. We ordered 1/2 slab of ribs , pork sandwich (came with chips) and I got a side of baked beans. EVERYTHING was way too sweet!!! OMG!!! The ribs didn't have a smoked taste at all. I hated them. I could just see the sugar in the baked beans. Yikes. My mom said the pork sandwich was ok after adding a different bbq sauce. Their bbq sauce was too sweet as well. This place is just a mess and I just can't recommend it unless you want diabetes. There is outside seating only. No restrooms. Flies everywhere. We have been touring Tennessee, South Carolina & Georgia looking for the best little BBQ. This is our last night out and it appears the best was saved for last. When we showed up they were calling it a day - clean up had started, smokers were being refilled with Boston Butts for tomorrow lunch menu. The lady we met could tell our from our looks, how disappointed we were (the smell of the smoked food was AMAZING!). She offered to put together something for use if we would take pot luck. While she disappeared to do that, we got to talk to the man who makes the magic happen. The "Pit Master," and I don't give that term easily, showed us how he starts the process, temperature to pull, wrap with butcher paper, time wrapped and when the start pulling to have everything just right. It is obvious that this man love what he does. I'm not going to share his secrets but I will try to replicate what he does. When she came back, she had three boxes - ribs, brisket, chicken and sides. She told us would need to warm it back up before eating. When we got back to the hotel, we couldn't wait. We jumped right in and was it perfection! My wife is a brisket fan. This brisket could not have been any more tender. She started in on a rib, not her normal choice and fell in love without any sauce. The boneless, skinless chicken thigh was soooo moist and delicious. Potato salad and Cole slaw. The Cole saw had apple added that brought out a nice sweet flavor with the bite of the cabbage. After a long afternoon of hiking, we were famished and followed our noses toward the smoke, and came across ChatterBox. We got a half pound of brisket as well as the chicken plate with two sides (beans + mac&cheese). Everything was sooo good. Chicken: cubed/shredded with a smoky/cinnamon/nutmeg flavor; nice and moist and paired well with the sauce Beans: Sweet, and watched them scoop them right out of the smoker after ordering. Perfect side to go with the meats. Mac&Cheese: Delicious with a nice peppery bite. Can't go wrong with this one Brisket: got sliced some lean brisket; nice visible pink smoke ring, sweet caramel-ly bark; had a good smoky flavor and paired well with the sauce Ok let's stop and talk about Brandon's sauce, which absolutely stole the show. Probably the best barbecue sauce I have ever tasted!! The spicy sauce is like crack... slightly sweet, some cinnamon notes, and just enough heat. I would buy jars of this stuff!! BBQ seems to be a trendy food for many to try and make. Everyone claims they have the secret and, of course, theirs is the best. Chatter Box can make that claim For their brisket with confidence. I'm a big fan of Texas brisket personally but love it any way I can bet it if it's cooked by a professional. Brandon uses his own rub and cooks by sight and feel. It's not an exact science when it's done by instinct, but when those instincts are as good as his, it becomes like a science or perhaps even a religious experience. Eating it is. I can't speak for any of the other items on the menu because I only had the brisket. I love it so much it's the only thing I can bring myself to order, but my guess is there isn't anything bad on the menu. Here's my only gripe. I've never questioned the amounts when buying a pound at a time but this last time I ordered 3 lbs at once. It felt light but I didn't want to question them with a crowd around. Got home and it was exactly 2lbs on my food scale, still in the container. At $18 bucks a pound that's a big miss. One star off and give them the benefit of the doubt but might be worth double checking next time for the price paid. read more

I had 2 brisket sandwiches today from Chatter Box and they were perfectly smoked and delicious. The meat was piled high and had very little fat. My taste buds were the happiest they have been in awhile. I loved the slaw with apples and the sauce tastes like it has apple sauce in it too. This is not like regular bbq. This is top shelf. I've seen this business post a lot of good looking food on Instagram, so I thought I would stop in for a try. Brandon is now making vegetarian options with Impossible burgers which was amazing. It's hard to find BBQ places that have vegetarian options so 3 stars just for that! The burger was topped with a homemade pimiento cheese spread which was okay but when I put the sweet BBQ sauce on, it was all over! It was soo good and flavorful. My husband had the ribs and he said that they are some good a** ribs. They were super tender and were very easy to get off the bone. He had them with the Spicy BQQ which was also very tasty. I didn't realize this establishment was outdoor seating only, but luckily, it was comfortable weather while dining. We placed our order with Brittany, who kindly told us they didn't serve beer, but they had no problem if we brought some over from the gas station across the street. We ordered the brisket plate with smoked mac and cheese and fried okra. The brisket was absolutely DELICIOUS, so tender and tasty, with a very nice marbling of fat. I could detect just a hint of smoke in the mac and cheese, but it was cheesy and the perfect consistency. The fried okra was lightly fried so you can taste it, rather than dark fried crisps I get frequently get. We shared the platter, and had enough left over to brown bag a sandwich! The only thing that kept me from scoring 5 stars, was that I thought the kitchen area behind glass, looked disheveled and messy, as did the outside of the building. read more

Was driving by today and caught the smell of the BBQ and saw a crowd out front. Circled back and they had a small band playing out front while smoking a hog. Can't beat the small shack type BBQ places. Some of the best I have had come from places like this. Brandon was out cooking and chopping pork while the music played. He seems like a great guy and took time to callout the young band and young men who did a great job playing. I went inside to order as a small line moved ok. Got BBQ sandwich with bake beans. The beans are different from any I have had. Mixture of spice, peppers but not too hot. BBQ was fresh, moist and tons of flavor. May try some ribs next time. Not much seating but great to take with you. If you have time give it a try. If busy it might take a little time to fill order but worth the wait. read more

I was really excited to try this place given the reviews, but I was so incredibly disappointed. First, the woman taking the orders was unpleasant and unhelpful. We ordered the smoked wings and the tacos. We ended up with the wings, and two chicken nachos. Order was all wrong. The chicken on the nachos was cold and extremely dry. My wings were nothing to write home about. We had the baked beans, Mac and cheese, and potato salad as sides. Baked beans were spicy, the Mac and cheese was dry, and the potato salad was ok. My husband enjoyed the apple slaw, but that was the only high point. We were really hoping to find a great bbq spot close by but this will be our first and last time visiting. I was very excited to try this place. I've been following them on IG for a very long time. So I drove from Atlanta to try them out. I had 2 of the 3 meat/3 sides plate with brisket, ribs and smoked wings; Mac n cheese and slaw. All of the meat was tender and freshly made, however it all tasted very sweet (too sweet) without ever putting sauce on it. I prefer savory seasoned meats. It wasn't seasoned well at all and It tasted like it is basted with something very sweet. I could see and taste sugar crystals on the ribs. I'm from Texas so I'm very picky about good bbq. I got brisket, Mac & cheese, and a pulled pork sandwich. The pork sandwich was really good and the only thing I liked. Their sauce has a more ketchup taste than hickory bbq. The brisket was tough and dry... I really didn't like it. I won't be back, I don't think it was good especially for a $30 total. Ordered 3 lbs pulled pork online for a birthday party. It took them a few minutes to find the order in the computer after the stated pickup time. When we got the bbq home there were watery drippings all over the bottom of the takeout bag. The meat was so wet it made the paper in the takeout carton disintegrate when I tried to remove it. Run. Don't walk to get some of this insanely good barbeque. You can taste the love and care put into their food! Truly the best barbecue I have ever had. The pork is so flavorful, I almost cried with joy eating- no exaggeration- it was a little embarrassing. The brisket was so tender it melted in your mouth. I've been to the heart of Texas and had all they had to offer in terms of BBQ. I have had competition BBQ. Ive had Plantation BBQ, I've had Master Blasters BBQ (RIP) and I will put this up there with them if not just a notch above them. I am speaking on this mans Brisket. It is soooo incredibly hard to find someone that knows what they are doing to the point where I solely judge someone's BBQ based on their Brisket. However, I have to be fully objective. The meal I had was the three meat combo with two sides. I had the brisket, smoked wings, and ribs along with Mac and cheese, fries, and baked beans. This is definitely a BBQ dive, in every positive sense of the definition. There are 3 tables inside seating 6-8. Friendly service. Killer hardwood smoked BBQ. Reasonable prices. Finally, brisket done well in Chattanooga! In Texas, you normally get a choice between fatty and lean, but here you get both when you order by the pound, which is fine by me. It checks all the right boxes: solid bark, great flavor, tenderly pulls apart, doesn't need sauce, Ribs were my favorite, however, again, no sauce required as the product stands on its own, as it should. Beautiful smoke ring, excellent bark and smoky flavor. Pulled pork was good. Very tender, though not quite as flavorful as the ribs or brisket, but the hot BBQ sauce goes really well with it. Best baked beans I've ever had. I'm not normally a fan of the thick, syrupy stuff you get at most places, but these beans were different and delicious with a very flavorful thin sauce that had a nice kick to it. read more
