Stopped in for a quick dinner and immediately the aroma tells you the place is legit. They've got a six pack of table sauces - Smoky Mountain was probably my favorite but the side option of Georgia Mustard on the pulled chicken was fantastic. Tasty sides (a good cheese pull on the mac and chunks of brisket in the baked beans) added to the meal. Solid vibes of patriotism, support for public safety professionals and Americana throughout. Definitely plan to return ! read more

My husband brought home barbecue after church. Let me just say it was the worst barbecue we've ever had. The collards didn't even taste like collards and were mush. Cornbread had an odd taste and not the consistency of cornbread. The meat wasn't good. I had to throw out most of my pulled pork. We will not return. For $40, this should have been delicious, but it wasn't. read more

Mission BBQ is a really sweet place to stop for BBQ. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the manager even came by to say hello! Great options for different meats and sides available. We came in during Sunday lunch, and everything came out quickly. They have 6 BBQ sauces available at each table. Definitely worth the stop! read more

Mission BBQ is a big chain. That makes the nerd in me sad, but that's also a very good thing. Food going mainstream is like music going mainstream. Good artists will be loved by the masses (and deserve to make a lot of money). I visited the Chattanooga location on a recent trip. It was love at first sight when I saw that they had prime rib on the menu. I ordered the prime rib, fries, mac-n-cheese, and a drink. I don't remember the price. The online menu doesn't show it. The answer though, is, "expensive" like everything these days (but appropriately priced). Prime rib was packed with flavor and incredible. I sampled all of the house-made barbecue sauces, and I enjoyed them all. Sides were very good and complemented the meal perfectly. Drink selection was amazing. I loved my meal at Mission BBQ, and I'm glad that there can be a location to greet me in other states. read more

This place wow-ed me upon setting one foot in the door. I was immediately greeted by the entire staff with a friendly and genuine welcoming hello. My pick up order was ready besides my fries... BECAUSE they cook them fresh on arrival! They show you everything confirming the order upon packing it for you. Everyone was so kind to help explain each and every sauce. After to which I said "give me them all or whatever you think is best". I've never been to a BBQ place where I liked every sauce and every sauce was fantastic. Meat was moist and every side perfection. The ambiance is incredible expressing deep appreciation for veterans. I was even thanked by the manager or owner? On the way out the door. This place embodies positivity and quality. Plus, I adore our veterans. I write this review eating because I couldn't wait to post! read more

Wife and I ordered 1lb. Of Pulled Pork and we each got 2 sides @ $44.00 very expensive in my opinion for the portion size... The BBQ In my opinion should have some Smoke flavor and a Smoke Ring this didn't... The Pork did Not taste like BBQ off of a Wood Smoker, more like pork that was cooked in a cooker on the stove top or in a crockpot. Look at this big piece of bone found (2) this size and gristle  that was hidden in the meat... disgusting - especially for the price‼ Not your good BBQ off of a wood fire pit... Like I cook at home on my Wood Stick Smokers! Not to mention the Bake Beans was bland and the French Fries was only lukewarm not HOT! Heck McDonald's can serve HOT fries! First time eating there 3/02/24 and the Last TIME! read more

Greeted by the entire staff when entering the building. Love the ambiance of all the place. Staff were very kind, and made great suggestions with their new menu items. The food was so flavorful and great portion sizes. Love the Smokey mountain bbq they offer on the table along with 5 other options. We were treated to complementary Carmel bread puddings which was so sweet, in couldn't put my fork down. Look forward to coming back. read more

My boyfriend and I were driving through Tennessee on the way home to Canada. We wanted something that would give us a taste of Tennessee. That's exactly what this place did. The staff was fantastic, letting us know what was popular, that we could try the sides before we even decided on the rest of our meal. The atmosphere isn't like any typical barbecue restaurant, it tells a story of many. The food sampler we got gave us plenty to eat. The Mac and cheese was fantastic, the collard greens were delicious. The caramel bread pudding was an amazing way to end the meal. The best thing about this place is even though you order first they still come to check on you to make sure you don't need anything. Can't wait to visit again! read more

First night in Chattanooga, TN and we were welcomed with the full southern charm at Mission BBQ!! They had us at first bite and then the manager, Frankie, came by and introduced himself. Once he found out we were first time visitors to Mission BBQ he made us fans with his kindness and complimentary Peach cobbler! Delicious!! The restaurant was clean and decor supported our brave veterans! We will be sure to visit a Mission BBQ wherever we find one! Don't miss this location! read more

I visited Mission today after about a year of not going. Some work colleagues came into town and asked where we could meet for some good bbq. Service was great, but the general consensus was the bbq was good, but overpriced for the amount of food you get. Brisket and pork (it may have been 3oz each, if that), some fries, and a water cost me a little over $17. I don't think I'll be asked next time for my suggestion of where to meet, when the team comes back in town. Good bbq has always been difficult to find in Chattanooga and that seems to still be the case. read more

If you come here get the half chicken I think its called the yard bird. It is seared on the outside and the inside is so moist and delicious. This may be the best chicken I have ever had. Great food with many choices! Honors the military family, great decor in the restaurant (special parking spots in front for veterans. My only concern (if you have read my previous reviews you know this is huge for me) is 'no military discount, especially here. With all the memorabilia, special parking spots and motif, nothing really for the military personnel. 5 stars with this addition. Would still recommend for the taste. read more

Mission BBQ has been a chain that I have seen in several places over the last 2 years. I'm always up for BBQ but I did have concerns over portions from photos I have seen on Yelp. It turns out that fear was unfounded because I certainly had plenty to eat. At Mission BBQ, you order at the counter and your name is called to pick up your food. I went with the 3 meat platter. I chose spare ribs, pork, and brisket. For my sides, I went with mac and cheese and debated between potato salad and beans. I asked for a sample of potato salad and liked it at that time to order it. I always sample the sauces first with the type of bread I receive. Mission gives cornbread and has 7 sauces. A quick rundown: North Carolina Vinegar Mix'er, Kansas City - a bold tomato flavor, Bay-B-Que - definitely the worst and weirdest BBQ sauce I have ever had because it tastes like crab boil - I hated it, Tupelo Honey Heat - a spicy honey, Texas Twang - bold and made with Worcestershire sauce, Smoky Mountain - a sweet and smoky sauce is the only way to describe it, and my favorite was the Memphis Belle - a sweeter sauce with some smoke. After sampling the sauces, I tore into my spare ribs. I was given 2 for the meat platter. They were good but nothing spectacular. The brisket was definitely the best of the 3 meats I received. I choice the moist style. I didn't receive a part with bark on it but my brisket was juicy and delicious. The pork was better than the ribs and very tender. The NC vinegar mix'er went well with the pork and added some zest when mixed with other sauces. The mac and cheese was cheesy and homemade. It was a worthy side to get again. Remember how I wrote that at the time I liked my sample of potato salad? Well, my sample must not have had celery in it. I hate celery! The potato salad would have been a worthy addition if it wasn't for the celery. A description of it would be chunks of red potatoes with a chicken finger sauce and celery. Next time, I will pick the beans since they are made with brisket. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! There is army decor everywhere and I did my part of supporting our armed forces by eating at Mission BBQ. I will visit Mission again in the future. The 7 sauces make it an attractive venue for me. The BBQ is very good but I can't put it on leg-end-ary level. Good enough for a solid 4 star. read more

Stopping in for Dinner tonight, waited in line for 15 minutes only to find out that they have no baby back ribs. How does a BBQ restaurant run out of ribs? I've been in the foodservice business for 25 years and never heard of a BBQ restaurant out of ribs at 7:30 at night. read more

We absolutely love this spot!! The food is amazing, quick and consistent. The cornbread.... On my goodness, the cornbread! It's just like my mom's, sweet and moist. And it comes with your meal automatically. Score! The decor. We strongly support our military and first responders and it's totally awesome that Mission Barbecue does as well! All of the decor reflects that support. That alone would make me refer others to this location, but it's a huge plus that the food is just so good! The brisket is perfect, ribs are great, the 6 pack of sauces plus hot sauce to flavor the meats, slaw is minus onions which I love, baked beans tasty.... Seriously. Give this cool spot a chance people!! read more

Extremely friendly staff. My family and I have been commuting from Knoxville to see my sister in the hospital a few blocks away and the GM, Frankie Peel, and his staff have taken exceptional care of us. They had a "smoked juicy lucy" burger on the menu so I gave it a try. Very good burger & as usual, the fries were amazing. I noticed that I never saw or tasted cheese in the burger & mentioned to the gentleman who came by to pick up our trays. He insisted on making up for that & brought me some brisket to take home. THAT was totally unnecessary but left a huge impression, amazing customer service is hard to find anymore but Mission understands it. Thank you Jimmy, well done sir! read more

Overall great. The service is fabulous and the workers actually look happy and like they're taken care of and enjoy working there. They go above and beyond to make sure you're happy. I saw a elderly veteran give a tip to the workers and in return they gave him something (I was distracted by my kids so I didn't see what they gave him.) I've been 3 times now with my kids and my kids devour the kids ribs, the French fries are excellent, and I quite enjoy my pulled pork NC style sandwich. The sandwich is a large size and fries are portioned generously. They have a lot of yummy sauces to choose from at the table. Our fav is the Smoky Mountain sauce. I tried the cheesy potatoes as a side today and they were good! A lot of happy faces of veterans, law enforcement, construction workers, hard working men were eating lunch today during our visit. Overall the vibe in this place is happy, positive, clean, service oriented and great. 10/10 recommend that you come here and enjoy the food and support this establishment. read more

The atmosphere was neat. The food was barely warm and just ok. Not really worth the $$.

The Texas-inspired, oak smoked brisket makes it worth the trip to Mission BBQ on Gunbarrel Road. The servers and staff are friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is thoughtful and patriotic. The baked beans, with brisket, and the green beans, with bacon, are my two, favorite sides. The cornbread is sweet and complements the hardy food. Ask for the "Nashville Hot Sauce" to pour on your baked beans. If you are a first responder, bring your agency patch and donate for display it on the wall. read more

A great representation of the franchise. The meats were flavorful and their sauce selection is excellent. They make my favorite version of Alabama White Sauce. 3 star because of great customer service and amazing meat loaf. Other than that, it is very important that the person taking the order to understand the customer's requirements.
