So amazing and worth the 1.5 hour drive from Knoxville to try superbly authentic hand-pulled noodles. The beef noodle soup is reminiscent of Vietnamese pho. Broth was very clean and tasty. Not overly fatty. The stir fry had great wok hei and was a great smokey cumin flavor. The staff were great and explained all the options. They guided us on which sauces to use and how to eat everything as intended to maximize flavor. The soup dumplings themselves were worth the drive, let alone everything else! I was skeptical I would enjoy OX2 Buns & Noodles but my boyfriend saw the viral YouTube review from Brennen Taylor and insisted we go. The restaurant is in a strip-mall and seems to be thriving. People are in and out continuously. Our waiter Jason was the server on the YouTube video which has made him somewhat a celebrity! Catch their IG ox2buns_and_noodles and you'll catch the Jason Show! We picked out a few things that Jason helped recommend (still not sure what I ate) but it was delicious! Prices are reasonable to allow variety. Wow. Just wow . Food was served quickly and perfectly. I loved that they had an electronic menu with photos- my mom wanted to see it because she had no idea what any of it was. Our server was patient and gave great recommendations. This was a stop through visit and we only had to wait about 10 minutes. My understanding is that usually the line is out the door and down the sidewalk. If you're in the area give them a try- or get it to go. Ox2 Buns and Noodles in Chattanooga is absolutely worth the hype, but definitely get there right when they open because the line starts forming at the door fast. It's first come, first serve, and for good reason. Inside, it's decorated super cute, and one of the coolest parts is the window where you can watch them making the food fresh. We ordered the beef rougamo, which was kind of like an arepa and packed with flavor with just a little spice, the pork soup dumplings, the scallion pancake beef roll, and the beef stir-fried hand-pulled noodles. Honestly, everything was so good. The scallion pancake beef roll was especially flavorful, and you could really taste the freshness in every dish. Portion sizes were good, prices felt fair, and the service was amazing. They take your order on an iPad and bring everything out as it's ready, which made the whole experience feel easy and efficient. I'd absolutely come back. Located in a busy shopping center along Gunbarrel, there is plenty of parking. It's all across a busy traffic lane from the entrance but traffic was quite considerate so crossing was without incident. There are also numerous handicapped spaces near the entrance. There is a ramp for access to the sidewalk close to the entrance. You enter through a set of double doors. The cashier is straight ahead in the corner. Seating is a mix of tables and booths. We were greeted after entering and told there would be a 20 minute wait for dining in. There were at least three tables and one booth which appeared clean and ready for customers, but there were several people waiting outside on the sidewalk. We were going to eat there but decided to place the order as to go. We were provided menus and given several minutes to decide. We then flagged a server to place our order. After placing the order we were then told it would be 20 to 30 minutes to receive our order. Since this was well after the lunch rush we would have preferred having this information up front to make a better informed decision on if we really wanted to wait that long. Still, with all the good reviews we decided this was our chance so we kept the order. Since we didn't have any other plans in that area, we waited in the car since it was a pretty nice day. I went back inside after 20 minutes and was able to flag someone down to check on our order. It was not ready so I waited in the one chair near the door. I did not see a line on the sidewalk this time, but a couple people came in after me and were told it would be 20 minutes for a table. Again, there were several clean tables but they were filled over the next 10 minutes or so. My order was ready in another 15 minutes, so 35 minutes from initially placing the order. It was packaged in sturdy clamshell containers and did not spill during the short ride home. The roast pork fried rice was fine. There was a decent amount of pork included. The flavor was good, although I did not notice anything unique based on their description being "Home made". The dish included peas, small pieces of carrot, and a few pieces of scrambled egg. The overall flavor was fine but nothing stood out. The chicken stir fry noodle (knife sliced) was another decent dish, if not notable. Was recommended to try this restaurant and told it was one of the only good Chinese food in the area. Definitely delicious. I ordered the curry beef stew with thick hand pulled noodles. The noodles were very bouncy and perfect in texture, and the broth had good flavor, could've be a little bit richer. Also tried their xiao long bao's and mini fried baos, both were pretty good. I actually called ahead of time to see how long the wait time would be, since I've heard that wait times could be 30 minutes to an hour. They were quick to answer over the phone that wait time wasn't bad so we headed over after. Once we got inside, the place was packed. We waited for about 10 minutes before we were seated at a booth by the back. They were pretty busy that night, we came past 7 on a Friday evening. We ordered a Cucumber Salad, two Beef Hand Pulled Noodle Soups (Regular & Medium Wide noodle), and a Beef Stir Fried Hand Pulled Noodles. Our appetizer, the Cucumber Salad, came out very fast. It was delicious, the cucumbers were crunchy and tasted fresh. And the vinegar wasn't too strong, it was just right. And the noodles dishes we had were so good as well. The noodles had great consistency, it was chewy and absorbed the flavors so well. My mom and I really liked the broth. It was not too salty, not too light of a broth but complemented the meat and veggies in the soup. The green veggies in the soup tasted so fresh too. And I loved my Beef Stir Fried Hand Pulled Noodle dish. There was so much flavor: I loved the different textures from the wood ear mushroom to the noodles. The beef in both the soup and the stir fried noodles were pretty good. I have no complaints, I thoroughly loved every single thing I tried here. I was so satisfied with my dish's flavor, that I completely forgot about their sauces halfway through eating haha. Try their homemade chili oil! Service was excellent, they were very helpful, friendly, and patient with us since it was our first time there. I liked all my interactions with every single employee from beginning to end. One thing about the fried tofu it came out fridge cold I was under the impression it would come out hot but it was meant to be like that, I would not order again based off flavor alone. My favorite is the beef rougamo highly recommend alongside their cucumber salad and house made chili oil all together ! This location is extremely convenient when heading north on i-75 because it is right off the interstate at exit 5. Stand out dishes here are S-Tier : 1 Knife sliced noodles - Dry beef cumin or Da Pan Ji 大盘鸡 2 Hand-pulled noodles - Duck noodle soup 3 Shengjianbao - A little oily, but still delicious and not overseasoned like what we have in Metro Atlanta. We have been twice. The food was excellent. Service was very good for the first time lacking the second time, but the food made up for it. We have had terrible dishes during the last couple of visits because we had a few people and were sharing. We have had beef and chicken noodle dishes with a couple different types of noodles. We really like the fat sobe style noodles best. The hand cut and the fettuccine are good as well. The soup dumplings are amazing the other dumplings we had great as well. Stopped in Chattanooga for a day and found this place through TT. Came here around 1130 on Sunday, and we were lucky enough to beat the crowd. By noon the place was packed. They just opened and only have a few servers on the ground so you need to be patient. They are very attentive and while we did not need help with the menu, we overheard the waitress explaining the menu items in detail to another table. Really loved how she took the time to answer their questions and give recommendations even though they were so busy. They didn't have the garlic green beans so we got the cucumber salad, stir fried tomato and eggs, lamb rougaro, and beef scallion pancake roll. The cucumber salad has delicate flavor full of sesame and garlic. It's nice and refreshing and great palate cleanser for the rest of the meal. Paired with their chili oil which is delightfully toasty (but not very spicy), it's very good. The tomato and eggs are really good. It seems like such a simple dish but the eggs are fried perfectly and the tomatoes melt down into a wonderful umami stew. Great over rice. The lamb burger was only okay but i topped it with the tomatoes from the egg dish and it really popped it off. The beef scallion rolls were good as well. A little too much hoisin sauce for me but with the chili oil it was delicious. Hoping they bottle up the chili oil for sale because I still can't stop thinking about it. read more

We visited today on a Friday about 11:45 AM. There was a line but only one couple ahead of us and then 2 behind us. We only waited about 10 to 15 minutes before getting a table. About 1230 the line was out the door, but only about 6 -8 people waiting.. The staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered the beef stir fry regular and with the fettuccine style noodles., the soup dumplings, and what they call a Chinese hamburger ( we got the pork one) . Stir fry was very good once we added some of the chili crisp oil to it, and the soup dumplings were delicious. I was really wanting to try that burger and was disappointed as it had very Little flavor. We did add some of the chili crisp oil to the "burger" but I still didn't care for it. Nothing beats an Ox2 Holiday!! We saw this spot on TikTok and decided to check it out while passing through Chattanooga! The food was absolutely worth it, but there are a couple of things that could make the overall experience better. Since it's their first week open, I know there's a lot of learning and adjustment happening, so I'll share my thoughts with that in mind. Food: 5/5 So delicious! We ordered several items and loved each one. The noodles were a standout.. amazing flavor. I would definitely come back just for the food! Service: 3/5 I want to give grace since the team was clearly very busy and still finding their rhythm. That said, we were asked for our drink order three times but nothing came until the fourth time, when water was finally brought (and never refilled during our 2-hour visit). It was tough to get a server's attention, and when we did get the check and paid, my card was never returned. I had to call and go back the next day to pick it up, and was told this happened to several other guests as well. Definitely an area for improvement. Atmosphere: 4/5 Fun and inviting vibe inside! The one suggestion I'd make is moving the host stand to the very front. Took a little while to get our food, but well worth the wait. I had stir fried beef with noodles and loved it...delicious flavor, quality beef, fresh veggies and fresh noodles. My daughter had spicy chicken noodle soup (nothing like your mom's) with thin noodles - HUGE portion, she ate what she could and took a full quart home. It was delicious too! The hype is real! We arrived around 1145 and there was a line out the door. We made small talk with some others in line that mentioned they are regulars and gave us some recommendations. Our server was Jason and he was super friendly, funny and gave us great recs as well! The soup dumplings were fire! Do not pass on those. We had the scallion pancake beef roll and it was crispy on the outside and the beef was amazing- we paired it with the homemade dumpling sauce (out of this world!) and chili crisp. We sampled the rougamu (beef) and it also slapped! For our entrees I had the roasted duck noodle soup did and the broth was unbelievable and the duck was so juicy. My husband ordered a dish that our server basically just surprised him with and he loved it. It was sliced pork stir fry with fettuccine noodles. 10/10 recommend and it's worth the wait. The line on a Saturday night stretched from the front door down several feet along the store fronts of this strip shopping center near Hamilton Place. That was a good sign. The wait wasn't too long (~15 min). They make the noodles on site and you can watch them being made through a glass window into the kitchen (which is real hub of activity). We had spicy chicken stir fry with the standard size noodles. The sauce was incredible, as were the noodles themselves. The chicken and veggies (mushrooms, broccoli and red peppers) were well prepared, with very good flavor and texture. This dish was one of the best examples of Chinese food I've ever had. The only issue with this one was that the noodles are so long that they are a challenge to eat with chop sticks (but you can ask for a fork to twirl them). We also had duck over rice. This was so-so. Since the duck is bone-in, it is difficult to eat. There's not much meat, but what was there was quite tasty. The sauce was also good, but it was only on the duck and there was not much of it. The rice wasn't all that good (very starchy and fairly cold), so we left most of it. The broccoli with this dish was undercooked. There was an egg (not sure whether chicken or duck) and that was good. Service was just okay. Everyone does everything, so it's not very organized, and therefore not very efficient. It took forever to get the check and pay. It made me think that if they were more organized, the line outside could be shorter. Still, just based on the spicy chicken stir fry with noodles (which alone was a 6 on a 5 scale), this place overall still merits a solid 4. Since they just recently opened, hopefully it will continue to get better, while continuing the outstanding noodle-based dishes and buns (which we heard people say were also really good). read more

This place has not been open very long, but word has certainly gotten around. We got there after the dinner rush, and it was still busy enough that there was a short wait for a table. The place was aromatic and well-lit, and we were lucky to get a seat where we could see the noodles be made by hand. The servers were friendly Ndattentive with their handheld devices - we had multiple people checking in on us to be sure we were taken care of. We had one explain to us the layout of the menu, and they even proactively cut something in half since we were sharing. The dishes all had their own flavors and unique textures. The soup dumplings were better than I had anticipated (me being a texture person), but my favorite was the beef Rougamo with its soft pillows outside and savory but slightly spicy inside. I cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes and something sweet (red bean was calling my name but ran out of room in my stomach).
