Got takeout- I'll just say most of it ended up in the garbage. Heavy/greasy with no flavor- the beef in the beef with broccoli was just sliced fat/gristle. Our family moved here from Dandridge 3 weeks ago. We've been looking for a Good Quality Chinese restaurant and found New China - thought we'd try it. This is NOT it. Worst... and I'm not saying this lightly... the absolute WORST Chinese I've ever had. We paid nearly $50 for a family of 4... the food was unedible. We had to throw it away. I had Vegetable Fried Rice... I think. The white rice was blah... veggies (peas, baby corn... all frozen) were flavorless. They have no condiments to spice up the taste. Only Soy Packets. My daughter's meal had "still frozen" baby corn. We're out $50 and did not get to enjoy the meal. Son-in-Law's Chicken Lo Mein had only noodles, chicken and cabbage. ????? No Sauce. Only Dry Noodles. We decided to order the chicken and shrimp Szechuan with veggies but not Szechuan since my fiancé can't eat spicy lol. I wanted it mainly for the broccoli, onions, carrots and mushrooms. We also ordered the hot and sour soup, and the sesame chicken. The hot and sour soup was okay, but I've had better. The sesame chicken was sweet and crunchy with yellow fried rice. It even came with an egg roll for the combination. My chicken and shrimp was delicious but I totally felt so dehydrated after from the mass salt intake after but it was worth it. It came with white rice and plenty of it. Overall, we will totally be back. Everything costed only about $20 and we had tons of left overs so overall I call it a win! 3/6/18 I just found a new favorite menu item: steamed tripled delight. It has no msg and no use of canola oil. There's steamed chicken, beef and shrimp, with a ton of yummy vegetables, and i get this with a side of rice and the sauce it comes with is delicious. I'm sure that's not as healthy so i make sure i take gentle dips. I wish they would add brown rice to the menu to help it be a little healthier. After using my Yadar, I discovered this little gem just minutes away in a little strip mall. This is a very casual restaurant and I believe that there primary business is delivery and pick up so this review will focus soley on the food. You simply place your order at the counter and sit down to wait for your food. We ordered from the lunch menu just because it was easy and it always has our standard dishes. I like chicken and vegetables in a white sauce. This particular dish comes with a brown sauce but they offered to modify it for me. My husband had the General's chicken and both dishes came with fried rice. We also added a couple of orders of the spring rolls. We were the only ones in the restaurant so our food came out relatively fast, (appetizer and main together). My meal was perfectly executed and appeared to be a custom order. The first thing I noticed was the color on the vegetables, bright and beautiful as they should be. This dish was lightly sauced and perfectly seasoned. The vegetables were generous, fresh and had wonderful textures. I'm done. I could have stopped there but then there was the rice which was not really fried at all. It was light, fluffy and perfectly seasoned. Incredible! To finish it off, that fortune cookie was the example that all other fortune cookies should follow: light, crisp, untainted by other flavors or scents. No strong taste of lemon or almond extra. Just a nice clean cookie. Love it! By the way, that water was the cleanest tasting water I have had in a very long time. It reminded me of water from my childhood. We took refills to go. **** The lunch menu is available 7 days per week. The only complaint I have is that this restaurant is too far from my home and now that I no longer have viable options locally, the sting is even greater. Only visited once. Very difficult these days to find a good Chinese restaurant. This was a very clean place however the food quality was marginal. Portion sizes were ok I guess but not for the money. Rice tasted like rice roni without the flavor packet. The meat a lot of Chinese restaurants was tasteless with a savory sauce which probably the only thing it had going for it. That's not saying much just the only other good thing I could say. My home stir frys with frozen vegetables and chicken is much better. We come here at least every couple of weeks. I haven't had anything that wasn't delicious. It is more of a take out place but they do have seating. My favorites are Hunan chicken or beef- just the right amount of spicy. They will make it spicier on request. My kids always get sweet n sour chicken. We came across New China by accident but we are very glad we did! The outside of the restaurant doesn't look like much but the food and the staff made up for it. As soon as we entered we were greeted by a smile. The woman at the register was very nice and told us we could sit wherever we wanted. Fried noodles and duck sauce were brought right over and our order was taken quickly. While we waited we saw the interaction with a couple of regulars that had come in. (You know you're in the right place when the locals eat there) The first gentleman was asked if he wanted "the usual". The next man came in for his to go order and the hostess asked him how his father was doing. This is one of the reasons I love local eateries. I know, "Tell me about the food!" I had the General Tso's Chicken and my wife had the Kung Pao Chicken. Both were very good and the portions were large. The eggrolls were delicious as well. Of the 15 orders there I have purchased there, always take out, I have had problems twice. Both times they were aggressively non responsive. The first time they would not refund one burnt item on an order because "...you not call same day!...". I can't get over how terrible this was! Seriously, hot and sour soup seasoned with black pepper?! I kinda understand not putting shitake mushrooms in it (although it's a real downer for me), but you should at least know what flavor the soup should have. The rice was the worst ever. Not at all fried rice, it was more yellow, and undercooked with no flavor. The egg-rolls tasted like the frozen ones you get at the grocery store- very mediocre. The rest of the food was just bland. I used many packets of duck sauce and soy just to keep part of my daughter's meal from ending up in the trash, but my husband and I choked ours down (except the "fried" rice.) I hope these people get it together, because the location is convenient, but at this time, I'm not sure if I'll even try it again. read more
