Stop reading and head over here! Favorite food of our trip to Chatt. Mom and pop Mongolian grill that offers both the typical build your own bowl OR the option to do a seafood boil. Highly customizable, as you grab a bowl and make your way down the food bar to choose proteins, veggies, seasonings, and then build your own sauce bowl. At the end of the buffet, you hand them your bowls, tell them what starch you want (rice, brown rice, or noodles) and they hand you a number to place at your table. Our drinks and soup were there waiting for us when we got back to our table. So many options to choose from and our table faves were steak, shrimp, chicken, pineapple, broccoli, water chestnuts, zucchini, carrots, and the noodles. Make sure to utilize the seasonings, as we had to add more once we tasted our food. Favorite kid sauce combo was teriyaki, sweet and sour, with sesame sauce. I really liked sesame, teriyaki, Chao favorite, and a touch of Szechuan (which has a touch of garlic and chili pepper) We had discussed driving down to Chatt for the day, specifically to come back to this restaurant, if that tells you how much we enjoyed our meal. Our picky children proclaimed that this was the "best restaurant EVER," so you know it's good!

Great hibachi food. Fresh bowl with fried rice. Quick and courteous customer service. Very spacious for sit down. Place was very clean. Also check out the women's bathroom. Everything checked out in decent order. You get your money's worth. Food is very tasty

Young gentleman that made sure I had my raw garlic from the back!!

I'm doing this review before receiving my food due to the best customer service I've ever received from n any dining experience. The whole staff from the gentleman doing the seating to the young woman behind the counter explaining how everything works to the gentleman who you give your bowl to so they can cook it for you, I'm the extra raw garlic guy!! If I lived around here, I would have definitely be a regular.

My boyfriend always talks about how he loves to go to chaos's for lunch with his work group. He finally decided to take me and this place is so delicious. They have so many choices to choose from. The house favorite sauce is a 10/10.

The food is always amazing! I love the variety and the fresh ingredients. The staff is very friendly as well.

I loved this spot! Very "vibe-y" with a huge wrap-around porch and a seat yourself situation…read more I stopped someone working inside to ask what to do and he said to pick my table (or order) and then I'd get a number and they'd bring it to me. He also said since I was clearly a newbie - to tell them and I'd get a free banana pudding. The gal behind the counter was nice and able to make some recommendations on the menu. It took about 20 minutes to get my food but, when it came out it was delicious and fresh. The pulled pork was perfectly smoked and had some black spots (delish). I chose the baked beans and potato salad as my sides. Potato salad was delicious and the baked beans had some pulled pork inside. The banana pudding was probably some of the best I've had. Bananas were completely fresh and loaded with fresh waifers. A lot of times if they make it in bulk, the waifers are soft and bananas are brownish. Not here, fresh as if they made it to order.... noms! I loved sitting out on the deck at sunset and enjoyed myself quite a bit. They do have tons of seating inside in a more bar atmosphere and had a large area with some playhouses for children. Located in a great shopping center with a bunch of order shops: Coffee shops, Whole Foods, Banks, Puppy Bakery, etc. Plenty of parking in front.

The price for the food was okay - pricier than other places but the portions were generous. The meat was tender and juicy but there's no smoky flavor or smoke ring. It doesn't even smell smoky around the restaurant. It was also not really seasoned. We tried pork, brisket, and chicken. Nothing bad but nothing great. The baked beans and macaroni and cheese deserve accolades though and bump a star. We did try the nachos and the chips were pretty bland and disappointing. Overall I think the meats need better seasoning as things tended towards bland. Maybe we went on an off day. It was around 2 p.m. and we were the only people there. We were pretty hyped to try it because of the reviews but left a bit disappointed. For comparison, we're huge BBQ fans - like Lewis, Wright's, SAW's, etc. so maybe it's just not our style. I love smoky, well seasoned meats.

It is in a small cinder block building Inside you have a counter and doors that open into the kitchen so they could bring out the foot. Fast service. I tried the tacos, brisket and pulled pork. Pulled pork was nicely done and the salsa, sour cream, and sauce were a perfect topping with the onions and cilantro. The brisket was done perfectly. Nice and juicy. I am not sure if this is the best BBQ in Chattanooga, but it is the best I have found thus far.

And that's saying something given all I've had. Mashed potatoes and gravy - good but gravy seened a bit watered down. Mac and cheese - Meh. Decent but not much flavor. Middle of the road. Tamales - absolutely AMAZING!!!!! Definitely worth ordering. Wonderful spices, a bit spicy which adds another dimension too. Dipping sauce - omg this is so next level! Perfect balance of cream and flavor makes this one of the best dipping sauces I've ever had for chicken too!!! Wow. Now I see why this place is called Champys. We got to choose our table and had friendly service the whole time. Note that although the service is pretty good, the food coming out was a little slow. We got the 3 chicken tender basket, catfish basket, the smoked buffalo wings, and banana pudding. The buffalo wings were the highlight. Great smokiness coming through the wings. Just a little bit of heat from the buffalo sauce. Highly recommend. Everything else was pretty good. The chicken was tender, and good crisp to the outside, and good seasoning. The catfish was pretty good too although they were pretty thin so didn't get quite as much of the crunch to tenderness contrast that I like in a catfish. Also, their tartar sauce is too sweet. I prefer more tang on the sauce. I think the sauces run sweet as I thought the champy sauce was a little too sweet over mustard-y. Good fries with great texture and seasoning. I also got the green bean sides which were a little soft but great, depth of flavor as it was clearly cooked with pork. The potato salad was good if not memorable. The kids loved the banana pudding. A little too much of the cream and not enough pudding but otherwise worth getting. All in all a strong chicken spot to visit while in Chattanooga.

Walking in , you could see a long bar that you could sit at or just order food at in a designated area and seat yourself around the place. We chose to set up the bar, of course. It kind of ended up being a bad idea because people had no idea about personal boundaries and being in other people's face while they're enjoying their beers and they are standing around ordering food and reaching over you. Ben and I even switch seats, because he is worried about his personal space then I am. Most of the food that was on the menu was barbecue driven but since I had just had poke, I was not hungry. The servers were very friendly when we were ordering and checked in on us often I just wish that they would have kept the line in a more orderly fashion since there was a designated area for ordering specifically.

So, as I was told by the staff, the restaurant portion has been spun off and sold from the brewery itself, so this is my first visit for food, since that has transpired. It is now known as "BUDS & BREWS CHATTANOOGA", part of a larger group out of Nashville, I was told. The bar/brewery looks the same, there is the same helpful staff, but in all honesty, the food just isn't as good. The pulled pork, was okay at best, the fried onion rings, just too greasy, and the chicken wings, just too dry. When first opened NR was the first microbrewery to prepare and offer their own food, and the bbq was stellar, but I cannot make that same statement today. Brews are still good, but if need a good microbrewery in Chattanooga that can offer you good food to go along with that cold one, my recommendation is either Oddstory or Five Wits. I'll continue to come to NR for a beer, as their Moonpie Stout is absolutely one of the best beers you can find in Chattanooga, but like I said if I am hungry too, this will no longer be one of my primary spots to consider.
