It was my first trip to this location, but one thing I've come to expect from this brand is great food that's consistent every time. I tried several different things here, and overall, the food was excellent. I had the pulled pork, which was tender, juicy, and had a really nice smoke flavor. The pulled chicken was also very good. It seemed to be a chopped mixture of dark and white meat and was incredibly juicy. There were even some pieces of skin mixed in, which added different textures and made each bite especially flavorful. For sides, I had the mac and cheese and collard greens. The mac and cheese was excellent--perfectly creamy and cheesy, with a great ratio of noodles to cheese. The collard greens, however, were disappointing. They weren't cooked quite long enough and had too much crunch, especially from some of the thicker stems and veins that were left in. They also lacked the seasoning I expect from really good Southern collards. I couldn't detect much heat, smokiness, or richness from something like bacon or another fat. They weren't bad, but they definitely weren't on the same level as the rest of the meal. I also really enjoyed their BBQ sauce, and the complimentary corn muffins they bring to the table were a nice touch. The only other negative was the service when we first arrived. It took about seven minutes for anyone to greet us. When someone finally did, the hostess seemed confused about where to seat us. She walked us to one table, but another employee stopped her and told her we needed to be moved somewhere else. After getting a brief, unintended tour of the restaurant, we finally made it to our table. Despite the awkward start and the disappointing collard greens, it was still a really good experience overall. The meats were excellent, the portions were satisfying, and most of the food lived up to what I've come to expect from Jim 'N Nick's. I'll definitely be back. read more

Delicious food! We went here when visiting family. The service was very kind, wine was delicious, husband had a beer, and the food was flavorful. The star of the show though? The biscuits. OMG. I ordered chopped pork barbecue delivered. It was the first time i selected this restaurant. i had buns. baked beans, fresh coleslaw and dill relish at home! They included a sauce i thought was way too vinegary. I used Baby Rays Hickory Smoked Sauce, a slice of white onion and dill relish. This was our first time here. We go out to eat about two times a week and let me just say this is definitely on our top five lists of restaurants. We had a server named Brandy. She went above and beyond explaining everything about the place and the food. First off can we just talk about the biscuits. OMG. I ordered baby back ribs but because we went late afternoon they were gone. I guess they only cook so many. I had the spare ribs with the potato and beans. Delicious. My friend had pulled chicken. We ordered the baked potato with smoked turkey and a small side of greens which came with two or three small of their cheese biscuits. When I saw it, it was at Hamilton place (after ordering it to be delivered), I was a little nervous. However, it was very, very good. The potato was large and had a lot of meat and toppings. The inside of the restaurant is welcoming and clean. The table was a little sticky which I didn't love but it wasn't a huge deal to me. My waitress was absolutely amazing. She was super friendly, answered all of my questions well and was quick with service and refills. Now for the food: the cheese biscuits with honey butter are so good. The deviled eggs were good but not great. Considering the cost of eggs at this time, I wouldn't bother with them next time. The jalapeno cheddar sausage with mustard sauce is absolutely delicious! The pulled pork is very good. I enjoyed the baked beans but thought the corn on the cob was well below average. All in all, for right around $30, it was a good meal and I would go back again for sure. read more

Spent the night in Chattanooga recently and this was near our hotel. We got there for an early dinner on a Friday night and had a great meal. The service was excellent, the food was great and came out quick. I recommend the Carolina BBQ and the Loaded BBQ Baked Potato. Super filling and great food. First time eating there. Place was nice, bathrooms were bad. That always bugs me at a restaurant. We started with the biscuits. Six little sweet cheddar biscuits that were like a soft cornbread. They were good. Then we waited quite a while for our food. I got ribs, baked beans and Cole slaw. First thing I noticed is that it's more of a Carolina bar b que. I like a sweet thick sauce. You won't find that here. It's a variety of sauces to choose from that are water based and more on the vinegar side. The baked beans were good but the slaw was too wet and once again had that vinegar taste.The baby back ribs were rubbed but were dry. The sweet tea was good. Service was good once we got our food. My husband got a mixed platter to try different meats and seemed to like most of his meal. Portions are good. Prices are about the same as other bbq places. The server said that first time guests get free dessert. The hat was nice. I got the banana pudding. Sadly, it was mostly whipped or some kind of cream and little banana.But it was a nice gesture. Everything was amazing!! Pics below - couldn't even eat more than half of the loaded baker. SO delicious. Their bar-b-q sauce had a little kick but not bad when you mix it with the sour cream. (I don't do spicy well so I was pleasantly surprised!) They give you buttered biscuits to start and those were fire too! My husband enjoyed his drink and meal. We would def come back next time we're in Chattanooga. Malia was an amazing server. You smell the BBQ from the parking lot !! Awesome. They do have inside & patio seating which is nice with good weather. I side is rustic with a warm feeling, Cole greeted us at the Bar. A bit on the quiet side, he got us our drinks as we looked over the menu. Somewhat familiar because we've been to another location. LOVE....LOVE their biscuits !!! Cole explained the "special" which was smoked wings with the Carolina White sauce (it think that's what is was called). Never had it before. It was tasty.... Not my favorite but my husband loved all the black pepper in it. Then we ordered a brisket sandwich to share. It was moist, tender and absolutely delicious !! Cole finally came into his own personality and his service was great & attentive but he is a quiet one ! Wish they had restaurants in Florida.... but not yet !! Had the combo plate with brisket, ribs and jalapeño sausage. It was very good BBQ. Sides were potato salad and collards. Collards were top notch. If you get the jalapeño sausage pair it with their mustard sauce. I will be back to try the pulled pork. read more

Just celebrated my mom's 90 birthday there. Had a party of 14. The servers were so efficient and very kind, especially to the birthday girl. We ordered a variety of items from the menu, everyone's meal was great. I hope to make this a yearly tradition for our family to gather together, coming together from 3 different states. During the pandemic it was very difficult and scary to eat out. Being that I have high-risk family members and still wanting to enjoy a good dining experience I was excited when I saw that this restaurant had a drive-thru. At first glance it looks really new very clean and enticing. I have eaten there three times since and have enjoyed it thoroughly. Barbecue is always a little bit pricey but I was excited when I saw that they served brisket. Being from Texas I am a brisket girl but I have been stuck or their barbecue chicken. It is quite delicious and juicy. Is there sides are also amazing especially the mac & cheese and potato salad. Coleslaw was not my favorite but everybody can't be good at everything. I'm just extremely picky when it comes to coleslaw, the flavor was amazing. You may like it if you try it. The customer service was always friendly and I look forward to trying their brisket one day soon. read more

There are almost as many BBQ places in Chattanooga as there are churches, but Jim 'N Nicks is one of my favorites! 1st) I love the fact that they actually have a drive through. 2nd) The service at the drive through is always impeccable. 3) The food is delicious! I love, love, LOVE their Mac n Cheese and their BBQ ain't too bad either, I don't eat pork so I always have either beef brisket or chicken. The burnt ends brisket is to die for and the BBQ chicken has just the right combination of sweet, spicy and sauciness. The little cheesy biscuits are always perfect and banana pudding is a must have. I will always end up coming back to Jim 'N Nicks as my first choice! read more

We ate here with relative that recommended the restaurant on a Sunday night after we found the Rib and Loin restaurant closed for maintenance (Probably lack of staff). We arrived at 7:30 with the restaurant closing at 8:30. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait because of lack of staff with the restaurant only 25% full. After sitting at a small table for four when there were many empty booths around we waited for 15 minutes to have our order taken and were told about 20% of the menu was unavailable including brisket and fries. Most of the food was pretty good. We did not get served any of the rolls that I hear are pretty good. Three of us got the "Pig on a Bun" pulled pork sandwich which came with a generous portion of pork on a soft bun with a couple of pickles. See the photo. It was good pork but the sweet mild sauce was a little thin and too spicy for my elderly mother. The house salad was quite good for a side salad. The "Not naked baked potato was good but not as loaded as the one you can get as an entree. The collard greens looked good but already had vinegar added which gave it a funky taste my Mom could not eat. My aunt got the 6 chicken wings and was very pleased with their size and flavor. The Coconut pie was good but not big enough to share. The service was disappointing but expected with their lack of staff. They had nothing on the tables so you had to ask for salt and pepper, sweetener and napkins which all were slow with their lack of staff. I think the restaurant is in trouble because there are so many great restaurants around them that are probably pulling customers to better food and more servers. read more

Everyone in my family had the same description when I asked them how their food was: really good. I asked them if it was their favorite. Everyone said no. The two items that are tied for favorites are the cheddar biscuit muffins and the mac n cheese. Some of the best I have had. We had the bacon burger, chicken tenders, salad, and spare ribs. I ordered the 2lbs (8 bones) spare ribs. The ribs didn't have much of a smoke ring, but were very tasty. The sauce had too much vinegar for me. I prefer KC and Memphis style. The restaurant was clean and pleasing to the eye. The service was friendly and laid back. This is a really good place to take your family and know everyone will be happy. read more

I am so glad we finally have one of these in chattanooga. We dined here recently and it was very good. The pulled pork and ribs etc are all very good. The next time I crave BBQ I'll be back. Thanks Jim N Nick. I came back again during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend and we had the spare ribs for two. This is a lot of food. The Mac and cheese is likely the best I have ever had. So this was our second pick for dinner while in town for a softball tournament in Chattanooga. We were looking for something by our restaurant that wasn't part of national chain and that we had not been to before ( we've been to Chattanooga numerous times). So I suggested BBQ and Sweetie agreed. We were seated right away (YAY!) but then continued our record of getting very bad service. We were seated by hostess and waited 10+ minutes for our waitress to swing by. She did not. So I finally flagged down the hostess and asked if we HAD a waitress. She said yes and that she would get her attention for us. So hostess walks over to a waitress having a long conversation at a booth about 15 feet from us. She lets the waitress know we are waiting. At which time the waitress continues her conversation with the table for another 5+ minutes. She was clearly not talking through a food or drink issue - she knew the people and was telling a story. When the story wrapped up, she finally came over and greeted us. (Acting of course like she hadn't kept up waiting 15+ minutes and ignored our plea to take our orders as she knew we could plainly see and hear her from our booth - that we knew she had continued to chat after we tried to flag her down. And with that knowledge, we put in our drinks order (waters only since they had Coke products) AND had had plenty of time to review the menu so we put in our food orders, too. The good news was - when she brought our waters, she also brought a little basket of cheesy corn muffins - nice and warm! I normally avoid carbs - BUT, I had to try these little gems. You see, I make corn pudding at home and I had to know if this were nice and sweet like my pudding at home. It was! ANd the cheese put it over the top. Like my pudding, the muffins had little kernels of corn. I admittedly had more than the one bite I had planned on. I did not put butter on mine but Sweetie did so (generously) and I bet it was delicious! So while we waited for our food, I immediately started googling recipes for cheesy corn muffins. Food arrived. Sweetie got the pulled pork with corn on the cob and cole slaw. He said the pulled pork was really good - as was the corn. However, he was not a fan of the cole slaw. When I make it at home, it's simply the cabbage, carrot blend with Marzetti slaw dressing - so that's what he's used to. He knows from experience that every slaw is different - and this was not one he liked. No biggie - it happens. As for my salad - it was fantastic. Nice fixings and mixed greens and a fair amount of chicken. When the waitress swung by the clear the table, I asked for the bill. Once again, knowing that she might get talking again, I wanted to cash out while I had the opportunity. The prices were quite fair and the bill was pretty small as when you have only 2 entrees and no drinks to pay for - it makes for a cheap date. I did tip generously although the waitress did NOT deserve it. Would we ever come back - probably not as we're not locals. But the food was good - just the service was below standard. read more

We came here on a whim on a Sunday for an early dinner. We were seated right away and the restaurant was about half full. Our waiter, Adam, really made the experience for us. I've never had a more professional waiter. We were brought our cheddar biscuits with our drinks and our dinner came out very timely. My dinner was excellent, I got the 2 side specials, corn and black eyed peas, with my turkey plate. My husband got a bbq plate with mac & cheese and potato salad. He said the pickles were overwhelming in the potato salad. I have enough left over for lunch tomorrow. My husband gobbled his meal up.
