Stopped in yesterday for the first time & what a hidden gem!! The young lady at the counter was friendly & helpful. The menu is as the sign says roadside eats but there are many choices including vegetarian/vegan if that's your preference. The young lady suggested the Smokehouse burger which came with fries. They cooked both without seasoning at my request. And when she brought it my jaw dropped, it was huge & Delicious!! I had to take half home. This is one of the first BBQ joints I visited when I moved to the area and I have been craving it ever since. I live further away now, but was in the area last night and decided to stop in again. Fat Boy's is very unique and is a must try in the greater Chattanooga area (Ooltewah). From the outside and inside of the diner to the awesome food, you don't want to miss this place! The number one item I have been craving since I first ate here was their Mac & Cheese ! It is AMAZING and exactly what you are asking for when you think of ultimate comfort food. YUM!!!! I also want to mention for my Vegan and Vegetarian friends they have an extensive menu. Last night I had a cheeseburger and onion rings - Both were perfect! PARKING - Plenty of parking in various spots ATMOSPHERE - The place is got a nice vibe to it, not a chain and not commercial. Very clean and free refills, to-go boxes easily obtained without having to ask. Plenty of sauces to choose. The drink station is the lowest height wise I have ever seen. My 6'1 son had a little trouble but this short yankee had no complaints. STAFF - The person working the register was very polite and juggling a lot of people in line and orders for pick up. Never seemed stressed and patient. The fact they were handling the rush and keeping the place clean was not unnoticed. FOOD - The food was actually really good. There are not many places we drive an hour to try and want to return again. The fries were perfect and the onion rings had the best taste and batter that I had in a long time. The sauces were pretty good also. I really love they give you 2 patties when you order a burger and it is filling. The brisket tacos were really good however wasn't please with the sad cilantro or whatever the green stuff was. It appeared stale and discolored in sections. We picked that off. The to go cups are massive and we loved that! I would like them to add a brisket burger blend and not brisket on top of the patty. PRICE - The price is reasonable for the amount of food you get. I couldn't finish one whole egg roll, was so greasy it was making my stomach turn and zero flavor. We ordered a burger topped with pulled pork, and a loaded potato topped with pulled pork. Both were great. BEST FOOD IN CHATTANOOGA! I'm on my Spring Break, Tennessee Roadtrip. Angels descended from heaven and pointed me toward Fat Boy's. This place is perfect for fat boys like me. They've got big portions at reasonable prices. All fat guys know what I'm talking about. Everyone says they have sizable portions, but then 2 entrees later, you walk away hungry. This place is the real deal, hog heaven, hungry-hungry hippo's dream come true. It has a super down home vibe. It feels a lot like a food truck. Tons of outdoor, picnic table seating and plenty of parking. The inside is also available, a little small, so beware of crowds during inclement weather! My two buddies and all all ordered different dishes. We ordered the Brisket Burger, Fay Boy Burrito, fish sandwich and philly cheese steak egrolls. The french fries were some of the best I've ever had. Really well salted and seasoned. Consistency of shoestring fries. They were on point. **TRY THE PHILLY CHEESESTEAK EGGROLLS** You will not regret it. Easily the best part of the meal and filling. $6 for 3 eggrolls. It was basically just meat and cheese stuffed into an egg roll. Amazing. It was so filling, you could eat 3 of those eggrolls as a meal and be content. The burger I had was good, but the brisket lacked a little flavor. The burger had a nice char and was very flavorful. The brisket was decent, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Not much flavor and lots of fat. The bun slid apart when I tried to eat it because it was so greasy, which I loved! My brother got the fat boy burrito which was FIRE. If I lived nearby, that would be one of my regular orders. The fish sandwich was great. Real cod, not processed garbage fish. Would recommend both of those. The South has taught me about many things, one of them being BBQ. It's just better down there. Fat Boys is a food truck, maybe it's a restaurant, I'm not sure, but we ate it in the setting sun on their wood deck in the back and that was the place to be. This was maybe the best pulled pork I've ever had. Saucy as all get out but not in a way that it covered up the flavor of the meat. It was shredded, but not in that way where the pork congeals into one sad lump. I mean this was perfect, I didn't even use the bun, I think at one point I was going at it with my fingers. And the onion rings have this amazing texture, the grease and oil kinda caramelizing them in places so the artery clogging goodness explodes in your mouth with each bite. The beans are a massive portion, and the cold slaw offers the one crisp, "light" break on the plate to give you the illusion of a balanced meal. Get in on this, you want this. read more

With a new location, new management, new staff, temporary limited hours, revised menu, and (slightly) increased prices... I was a bit apprehensive. HOWEVER, If you've been to Fat Boy's before, fear not! It's just like the ol' FBRE you've always loved. If you have not visited this little gem, I encourage you to give it a try! The menu is relatively unique. The prices are a bit high if you judge it Vs fast food, or comparable Vs chain restaurants. Either way, the quality & BIG portions more than make up for it. Seriously... By "BIG portions", I mean, like, burritos nearly as big as your forearm! Not every item is a massive portion, but everything IS high quality. Over the years, I've tried almost everything on the menu, as well as innumerable special / limited-time / off-menu items. Honestly, I have never once been disappointed. Based on this visit, I'll say that although EVERYTHING has changed, it seems that NOTHING has changed (in the BEST way possible). They survived a devastating tornado, and now they've survived COVID. Clearly, we the people support Fat Boy's Roadside Eats! You now order inside, rather than their old "food truck window" style. They offer a small quaint indoor dining area. If you're eating there, and if the weather is cooperative, I suggest you dine on the spacious patio. The relocation placed them one exit further up I-75 (from Chattanooga), but they're now only a minute down the road off the Volkswagen Dr exit. It's actually a quicker & easier trip than it was to visit the old location. My personal suggestions: My go-to FAV item is the brisket tacos. Although, you can't go wrong if you order a burrito. Do be prepared to take half a burrito home. If you're lucky, maybe the Thanksgiving Dinner burrito will be available. A FULL Turkey Day feast shoved into a baby blanket sized tortilla. If you're into that, get it, you shan't regret. The apps and sides are all great, too. Throw a dart, flip a coin, close your eyes & point... it doesn't matter. You're gonna leave happy. I'm not into desserts, but I've heard good things about their rotating offering of fresh homemade cakes, cookies, pies, n such. And, finally, I should mention that they do have PLENTY of VEG/VEGAN options. In fact, the "Green" menu has nearly as many items as does the omnivore menu. My only disappointment was the fries:(. In the photos I saw online, they looked to be fresh cut. However what we were served was clearly frozen fries. Driven by this place so many times and decided to try it out. There was a wait to order, person taking phone orders is also taking window/walk up orders. I ordered a cheese burger, fries, and a fountain drink. The fountain drinks come in one size, HUGE. We had probably a 15 minutes +/- wait for our food to arrive. We dined inside, it was pretty cool, could use some cleaning and consistent attention. The burger was absolutely delicious and the fries were too. The burger was massive, two burger patties. I have been here multiple times and somethings are good and some things are not. The mozzarella sticks are my favorite thing when they come out fresh. The burgers here are always very delicious. The inside is not the cleanest but the people at the counter are always very nice. The last time I went there I decided to try something new so I got their nacho hotdog. I was very excited to try it but very disappointed in what I received. The hotdog was in a sub bun, I couldn't even see the hot dog because there was so much nacho cheese in the bun. This was a splendid find on the way home from a wonderful weekend in TN. The kids all loved the chili and cheese, the hubs loved the Philly cheesesteak with homemade tater tots and I tried the Thanksgiving burrito which is better described as three meals in one. It's stuffed with Mac and cheese, smoked Turkey, sweet potato fries, and cranberry sauce. It's not for the faint of heart it's huge, heavy, and full of unique flavors. I ordered the veggie wrap that had lettuce, cheese, Morningstar chicken nuggets (they're fake) as well as hot sauce. One bite into the wrap and my best dreams had come into fruition. The wrap is just perfectly separated in the fact that you can single out each ingredient after having had a mouthful of the wrap, but still have all the ingredients sing a perfect harmony together is fantastically amazing.
