I really wanted to give this one star, as we waited OVER AN HOUR for a grilled cheese and the pork sandwich. And it was not that busy. Not sure what goes on in the back ,but man you better be patient if you come here. And the server could have come back once and a while to let us know there was a huge delay for some reason. The good news is that is the best damn sandwich I ever had, and my friend loved the grilled cheese. So come for the food, not the ambiance or service. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a very long time and we finally stopped there for dinner tonight. We met the owner and his manager, both were welcoming to our group. The service was good and server friendly. The main lunch entree wasn't good. My wife's BLT was soggy with bacon grease and it wasn't prepared crispy as requested. My country fried streak brown gravy tasted like it was from a jar. The ambiance in the main seating area was library quiet and a little uncomfortable. The bar area is much better, but we were the only customers in there. I had stomach issues afterwards as well. The restaurant was pretty empty. The Mexican restaurant down the road was hopping and we should have gone there instead. The side sliced fries and fried okra was good. read more

Great service!!! We gave our waitress a run for her money with a million questions and requests and she accommodated every single one! I was simply amazed! Have her a $20 tip! The food was excellent as well! A great selection and variety. And let's not forget the gorgeous view that overlooks the mountains and clear sky's. We didn't see any hang gliders. This place is absolutely amazing!! Everything that I have tried from their menu has been delicious, and their staff is always very friendly. If you go you have to try their gator tail bites OMG, and of course my all time favorite is the crab legs!! They also have a great set up with a nice quiet set up inside for people like me who want to eat and enjoy talking with the people I am there with. Or, you can go to the other side with music and entertainment including a dart board, karaoke, and some live music some times. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch early dinner. Really liked the menu....hard to decide with so many wonderful choices. Steak Philly, French dip and fried mushrooms were all really good. Came here on a Sunday afternoon on a drive home from church. Great reviews so figured we would give it a try. Cute little place. Clean and bright. Staff was friendly and we counted 5 of them. However it took quite some time to get our food, like 35-40 min! I got a philly cheese steak wrap, my husband a shrimp wrap. Homemade onion rings and French fries. I have seen this location a few times when I visited the location next door. I finally was able to eat here and it was great. The mushrooms were fantastic. The nuggets and shrimp basket is a great value. I will be back. The server was also very nice. read more

Worst oysters ever! Fried food drips with oil. Service was good, place is clean and salads are huge.

Stopped in for the mid-morning breakfast; which was great. Our server (Niyah) was busting her butt, waiting on customers, doing food prep and cleaning the dinning room... by HERSELF; while the two owners sat outside on the porch, scratching theirs. One of the regulars said this is common practice. Watched one customer come in and leave after several minutes, because the Niyah was unable to get to him. Rather poor way to run an eatery, that serves good food. I was extremely disappointed to see the American and POW/MIA flags flying all faded and tattered. Great service and food... piss poor management. Be prepared for long wait to be waited on, when they're busy. read more

Just passing through and got a very nice bite to eat at Johnny's! Had the barbecue, potato salad, and baked beans! Everything tasted pretty dang good. The meat was slightly dry but still good. The portions are awesome and the prices are very reasonable. The only reason I can't give a 5 Star was because of the deep fried moon pie. I'm not a big fried food person but the thought of a crispy moon pie just had to be a given try. The batter was way too thick and in order to make the inner part of the pie warm the outside got much too cooked. We ended up discarding most of the dessert because of how much breading was on it. I had the catfish nuggets which were the best I have ever had. The breading is amazing and they were tender, flaky, and cooked perfectly. I've been to Johnny's Hook N' Grill several times. Everything that I've tried has been really good. The breakfast is outstanding and sausage patties are hand patted. The lunch and dinner menus are good as well. The shrimp and catfish are outstanding. The Philly cheesesteak is awesome too. All for a reasonable price. When they first opened a few years back, service was really slow. They've caught on and are much better now. I'll keep going back. read more

Wow! I was blown away by the amazing food this restaurant continuously puts out. The deserts are heavenly and absolutely to die for. The French toast is amazing, cooked perfectly. The onion rings are probably hands down the best I ever had. They are battered perfectly and the batter is seasoned well, they obviously know what they are doing. The Wraps are good and taste fresh. Of course the seafood and fish is on point. I just happened to be in town but next time I would easily make a Saturday drive out from Chattanooga to eat here again. Top notch! read more

The food is high quality and good. The service is great. The atmosphere is similar to a beach sandwich shop with plate dishes and a small salad bar. I had their broiled flounder; my wife had grilled tilapia, both with fries and Cole slaw. There is plenty of free parking for the limited dining area inside. Outside tables with a view of the mountains are available but it's a little cool this time of year. Prices range from about $4 to $18. If you eat after the sun goes down in the winter, I suggest you wear a coat. It gets cool inside the restaurant in winter. read more
