This pub is basically on the freedome track, Nice food, good service. Bit on the expensive side however.

Dirty facility. Staff looks uninterested in everything. Filthy bathrooms absolutely some of the worst I have ever used. I only give it two stars because it's a functioning establishment to drink alcohol at. read more

Great staff! Megan, Gino, and Sabrina are great people! Come on over and get some food and drinks. Let's no forget about the great picks of music. Beers on Draft are great as well. Dont be shy. Thanks Beantown Pub! read more

I had a mission (besides seeing my dad) on my Boston trip: to taste authentic Boston Baked Beans. So I stumbled upon the Beantown Pub at lunchtime, my second day there. I ordered the baked beans, and since it was 11AM, I felt it was too late for coffee, but too early for beer, so I ordered a Bloody Mary. "It must taste like V-8, with a kick," I thought. OMG! One sip, and I was like: "Holy toot!!! That is STRONG vodka!!!!" As for the beans, they were very good, although not as unique as I expected. They were served with two slices Boston Brown Bread, which were round, thick, spongy, chewy and tasty. Perfect for dipping in and sopping up the bean sauce! Friendly service. Nice, casual restaurant. Posting photos soon. read more

I had the Irish Breakfast and sister had the Barrister Burger. The fries were awesome, the burger was big, and the Irish Breakfast had everything I could as for. Overall, it was very good. The atmosphere was pretty pub-authentic and it was a pretty great place to watch sports while you eat some great food. read more

I met a friend here for dinner on a Friday night. We both were completely ready to peg it as a tourist trap, but my feet hurt so much from the beautiful/painful stiletto boots I was wearing that I was ready to deal with that. It was actually a great surprise--the food was great! I was really in the mood for a cheeseburger, and I was able to get some awesome sweet potato fries. My biggest gripe here was the service. It was a seat yourself situation, so we did...but the draft from the door killed the seats we'd chosen. It also took like 10 minutes for a waitress to even give us menus. And I mean, it was busy but not that busy. She definitely could have been more attentive. Overall a good place to come if your expectations are kinda low. read more

I've come here multiple times for drinks, and a few times for food. I will NEVER eat food here again! The chicken fingers were disgusting. Obviously not fresh, a weird texture, and simply the worst food I've ever been served. I don't mind bar food, but this was just a bar that felt like serving some bites to say its a resturant too. I even attempting the food a second time a few weeks later, and it was again bad. The chili nachos were nothing notable and the hot wings were terrible. I would go back only for drinks. Bartenders are friendly, big bar, decent scene of people! The good staff behind the bar is the only thing saving this place. read more

After sitting down at one of the only tables left in the front room, we were told to move in a very condescending manner by the hostess because we didn't have enough people in our party to fully occupy the table. In addition, the music selection is at the mercy of the crowd via a jukebox...which is blasted in the entire restaurant at a decibel level that would rival standing next to a fighter jet. That aside, the pool tables are expensive, and the beers are above average price for the area. The only saving grace for this place was the fantastic nachos and a good waitress. read more

We didn't even know this place existed, but we were looking for a pub, and this is what we found. They serve a special brew made by Sam Adams Brewery just for their pub called "Beantown Ale." It's excellent. I loved it. When we were there, we were treated to a unique Boston experience as quite a crowd was there to watch the Sox play. We also enjoyed the food. We had the Cheese Fries, and they were nicely done. They also have a burger that was entered in a "best burger" competition, but we did not try that. I loved the friendliness, and local feel of this pub, and especially that it is right down the street from the Parker House, and right across the street from the Granary Burial Ground. It's just a half block away from Boston Common, and right on the Freedom Trail. Standing out front, you can see the Old North Church, and the Church where William Lloyd Garrison gave his first speech on the abolition of slavery. Great history, great food, and great beer. read more

As far as a bar goes this place seems to do well in its own right. When we came in it was late lunchtime and the bar wasn't super crowded, we got a seat in a booth right away. When we left the bar was packed with people all around, so I can only assume they do alright by beers and drinks. Food is what I expect ought to be good at a pub. For me food makes the beer even better. My wife and I shared a lobster roll- it was cheap, yes, but oversalted and small. I also tried the clam chowder- it was nothing to write home about and was lukewarm. Service was good, and we were glad to get out of the hot sun. Suffice to say, the water and air conditioning were the best parts that afternoon... read more

I was very upset with my last Beantown pub visit. I typically come here once every other month for lunch with coworkers for the last 3 years, and sometimes on weekends for a drink and pool . However, my last lunch the four of us dining had issues with our meat (chicken and turkey tips) The meat tasted extremely chewy and slimy- the way you would expect undercooked meat, or maybe lower quality meat to taste. We had all had these exact dishes before and there was a huge difference in taste and quality. The server took too long to check on us after dropping our entrees and honestly, when you are on a lunch hour complaining and having dishes remade isn't an option when you have 10 minutes to get back to the office. I'll give them points for accommodating our seating request. We didn't want to sit at the front table because the opening and closing door was letting too much cold in. They cleaned off a recently finished table in the back dining room and changed our seating. I really like the pool tables and the bar, so I might try them one more time since before this experience I would've rated them 3-4 stars, but am wary of their food now. read more

While walking through downtown Boston my husband and I decided to stop and grab a bite. The pub itself had a pretty cool vibe about it so we thought it was a good choice... however after being seated we were greeted by a lady who seemed very overwhelmed even though it wasn't very busy. She kept forgetting what we asked for and I never actually got a refill on my drink after asking twice. I ordered "the Judy" which was explained as a blueberry lemonade with vodka however I received a spiked pink lemonade which wasn't that good. We then ordered bacon and cheddar tots and the Famous Fenway hotdog. The tots were pretty good however the hot dogs were no where near a Fenway dog... the hot dogs looked as small as Walmart ballpark hot dogs and tasted exactly the same. So basically we paid for an overpriced ball park hotdog on a slice of white bread and a side of mediocre soggy fries. Lastly our waitress came over to us in the middle of lunch and asked us to close our tab and pay for our food cause she wanted to go home... very unprofessional and at that point we felt rushed. Overall a very poor experience. read more

This place was across from our Hotel. This was THE BEST place to hang out during our tour of Boston. They remembered us every time we stopped in. The food is amazing! Bartenders are personable and were a big help guiding us to our next spot of History during our week long stay. Highly recommended for visitors to Beantown. read more

Could have been more space. I felt like I was packed into the space. The food was not bad. Just was not worth the price. The potato skins could have had more scallions and the famous beantown burger the bun could have been more garlicky. Other then that no problem. read more

Beantown pub is either a 3 or 4 star joint, depending on when you show up and for what. It's right on the liberty trail, and you know with a name like "Beantown Pub" it will be sucking in the tourists. If you hit up the place when there's not a flock of tourists or law students there, this is a decent bar at which to grab a pint. The place comes with a few pool tables at the back which always help break up the drinking. The bar tenders are always, always slow. And you've got to be downright surely to get them to change out your dollars for the pool tables. The wait staff is adequate, if a bit slow, but the comfort food the kitchen puts out is worth it. read more

I've been here twice - both times just to drink and both times it was pretty crowded. Visit one - after work on a Friday. We were able to find a couple seats at the bar after ordering our beers. We only stayed for one so can't really comment on the service provided by the bartenders. Visit two - on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Again it was crowded and we were seated at one of the "bump out" tables across from the bar. Not bad except our waitress had a major attitude and was about as rude as they get! That was such a turn off in a city that has a bar on just about every block. The beer was good, cold and served it's purpose. I would go back for a beer but nothing more. read more

An interesting blend of tourists, townies and college students. The drinks are strong and decently priced. This place can get very crowded on a weekend and I would not recommend it to the claustrophobic. My greatest complaint about the bar is that they stuffed too many pool tables into the "games" area. They are too close together so you end up bumping into all the other players. read more

Pros: great menu, great location, lots of chicks. Cons: Crowded, loud, not cheap, packed with kids. Overall it's an ok stop on your crawl or good to hit before a show at the Orpheum Theater next door. read more

Went in on a Thursday after work to grab a quick drink. Sat by the bar and was completely ignored by the bartender. After several attempts we finally got her attention and ordered or drinks. We NEVER got our drinks! We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, because it was busy and she was alone. However, that was until she proceeded to wait on existing customers sitting at the bar and new customers that came in after us! Needless to say we left. This is the third time I've been here and was never impressed with service, but this took the cake. So, Beantown I will never be back!! If you are looking for a good drink with speedy service I would suggest Silvertone up the street. read more

I was prepared to give this place a four star review, until this morning when we decided to try it for breakfast and it wasn't the experience we were expecting. We discovered Beantown Pub about 8 months ago. We were in town and we made it our mission to try as many lobster rolls as possible. Because how can you say who has the best lobster roll, if you don't have at least five of them, right? We ate at all the highly reviewed and best of places and once we got to Beantown and tried the lobster roll, we were sold! It was awesome, the Boston beans were great, the chowder is one of my favorites, the place is in a great location, and always bustling. Fast forward 8 months later and we came back. We had the same incredible dinner experience. The lobster roll and chowder are still by far my favorite. However, breakfast this morning was a disaster. Yelp and the sign on the door say they open at 10am. They don't. They open at 10:30am which caused much confusion to multiple groups of people standing outside the door. They either need to fix the sign, or one of their employees should be polite enough to come out and say something instead of complaining about it because we all walked in. That brings me to breakfast. I had the worst cup of coffee, so bad I sent it back. Then breakfast came out. My husband and I both got cold plain toast. I had to hunt the server down to ask for butter and jelly. When she did bring it, she brought chilled butter. Cold toast and chilled butter don't mix. My husbands omelette was so over cooked he was having a hard time cutting it and our potatoes tasted like they were fried in month old oil. I'd still come back for the dinner experience but never again for breakfast. read more

Beantown Pub. Where do I start. I guess I will start at the drinks. I love an Long Island, this place has a drink called the greatful dead that's basically, an evolved Long Island. 1 or 2 and will be definitely enjoying your night. The food is every bit of delicious. From the wings to the burgers to the sandwiches all meet my approval. Now for the atmosphere, this is definitely the hangout spot. Music is on point you can even select what you want to hear and in addition there's pool and other arcades games to keep you entertained I love this place read more

Wow.. just wow. Their honey chicken sandwich is literally my death row meal... if I had one. The chicken is tender and the flavors marry like a couple on a clear water beach in July. ADD BACON! cause why not? And cause they have that thicc boujee bacon. #inlove read more

Great standard fare. Their prices are reasonable. They are located in the middle of downtown Boston. If its not too busy, this place is pretty great. The day we went, they were not too busy. But I imagine it gets busy. They had a now hiring sign outside, which probably means their service is a tad slow. I enjoyed my food and beer. read more

Average pub with a good liquor selection. It was a little dirty the day I went though. Super crowded, but at least the staff was friendly.

Always solid for a midtown foray. That said, I just had the worst (repeat: THE WORST) plate of Calamari I have ever had. Over-battered, tasting of rancid vegetable oil, dipped in the most flavorless Marinara. Truly awful. Disappointing from a place I normally rely on. read more

On my vacation during the 4th of July week we visited the Beentown twice and had fun both times. The first time we stopped just a wet one and had a Sam Adams, I soon found out you could toast Sam with a Sam's because his grave is right out front( you can see it from your stool) we had a lot of fun talking to other guests and came bace for the Lobster roll advertised as 12" but it was more like 10". Anyway it was very good and only 13 bucks! The only thing they need to update are the bathrooms I will go back the next visit to Boston read more

Definitely a "dive bar" but it has a fun atmosphere. We got there around 10:30 or so on a saturday night and were able to snag a seat at the bar. One of the signature Boston dishes I wanted to try on my visit was Boston baked beans. For an early dinner at the Beantown Pub we had the baked beans as an appetizer and a famos beantown burger for my entree. The baked beans were disappointing (bland and not a lot of flavor) but they came with a dense dark bread that was very tasty. The hamburger, however, was one of the burgers I've ever had. Nice dark pub atmosphere and fast friendly service. read more

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!! The below erroneous charges have been resolved... the manager Ryan is super professional and amazing!!! Unfortunately, what started as a fantastic and fun night has led to unprofessionalism and a deceitful yarn spun at my financial cost.... And has yet to be reconciled. Let me tell you a tale... Fridee January 4th was meant to be a wonderful reunion between friends from childhood that have since matured, split, and moved to other cities and states to pursue their lives and aspirations. After a fun session of candlepin bowling, I suggested enthusiastically that I'd love a game of pool or billiards if you prefer. We Lyfted our way there through slushy snow, sliding cars, and a concoction of snowy rush hour and weekend night dreams. We finally arrived to a pretty busy atmosphere, a long and cool looking bar that wrapped like a snake as you walked down its length. As you walked past, and beyond the great bar littered with happy customers you entered the pool field of dreams... tables on tables on tables on tables.... if you can recall the scene in the original 90's adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the scene in the warehouse where Shredder's Foot-clan was skateboarding, playing pool, playing arcade games, that's what I felt I walked in to as I enthusiastically drew eight quarters from my pocket and placed them upon the table rail, letting those who wondered... I... have indeed claimed this table. My friends and I proceeded to play games on games on games, I ordered one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had, although the name eludes me(it's the one at the top of the menu, Beantown Burger maybe?)... Anyway, this night eventually had to come to an end, I asked our friendly waitress who was always asking if we were good and needed anything for the final check. It came, $140, which is paid without incident or apprehension. The next morning I reviewed my bank statements and I see four charges of $89, $104, $25, $31? "Oh my" I exclaimed, everyone in the neighborhood awoke and expressed concern, we met and discussed the proper course of action... I picked up my phone, dialed Beantown Pub... Ryan answered. I explained to him what has happened, he agreed that it was a clerical/computer error and that these charges would drop off once posted to my account and they would reflect the $140 charge... a cool calm washed over me in an awesome way knowing that Ryan, my main man... had it covered. Wednesdee 1/10/18: I look at my account and to my surprise!!!! Charges posted of $89, $89, $25, $31! That doesn't at all equal to $140. I promptly called, spoke to someone that wasn't Ryan but they assured me he would get back to me that afternoon or this morning. But alas, no call... so now I am sad Erick and would love to upgrade this to a four star rating. If I made a mistake of sorts please let me know, albeit I was presented with and signed one check equaling $140. read more
