Like a lot of others on here, I'm going to shout out Bastone's 7-days a week happy hour. My wife and I wanted to go out to celebrate one night, so we decided to make it out to Bastone for happy hour and let it roll over into dinner. Nothing beats reduced-price wine, cocktails, vermouth drinks, and appetizers (as well as half off charcuterie on) a weekend, but the entrees are also outstanding. I love the PEI mussels, but the Black Gnocchetti Sardi is to die for. Even if you're not in the mood for Italian for dinner, if you're spending a night hanging out in the West Midtown area, I'd suggest going to Bastone and enjoying the great atmosphere and service and starting the night off right with a couple of drinks with some tasty appetizers. read more

I went to Bastones during their daily happy hour. We started with drinks and appetizers. I had a mezcal drink from the happy hour menu, which I enjoyed. We ordered the $12 mozzarella and salami platter. I would definitely skip it in the future and order their fresh in-house made mozzarella - solo. The sliced bread was served cold and was just meh. We also ordered the crispy potatoes (delicious...but a very small portion) and calamari (oily and just ok.) Both were served on small side plates in portions similar to and slightly smaller than tapas. We also ordered from the $14 pastas. I had the Cacio e pepe, which I thought was tasty. (I find myself wanting more cheese, salt and pepper on plain pasta dishes but this one had plenty of all three.) My partner ordered the Carbornara. This review comes a little late, as I visited this establishment on 10/4/2024. My friend and I came to get the mozzarella tasting platter to go, but I would have loved to come back to dine in. The interior was beautifully decorated and elegant. The vibes felt relaxed. I agree with other reviewers that the service was very slow, which is why I removed a star. When we told the host that we just wanted to order take-out, he asked us to sit at the bar "because you might want to order a drink while you're waiting." We were handed the menu almost immediately, but it took about 10-15 minutes before our order was taken and another 15-20 minutes before we received our takeout order. The bartender and other server did seem busy. We just weren't expecting to wait for what seemed like the duration of a sit-down meal, so I would advise to plan accordingly if intending to order takeout. The assortment of mozzarella balls were awesome! Very fresh. There were some types that my friend and I preferred over the others, but overall it was fun to try a variety of them and taste the differences between them. The bread that came with the mozzarella balls was meh; we ended up not eating it. The honeycomb and sesame breadsticks were also good. There's valet parking available as well as street parking (for a fee). Make a reservation if possible, super easy through resy. Highly recommend coming for happy hour (4-6pm) if you can since they have some good pastas on the menu as well as some cocktails. Food/drinks: - Cacio e pepe ($14, happy hour price): black pepper, pecorino. They didn't serve It with pasta noodles (which they told us in advance) but with a different pasta instead. It was a solid pasta dish. - Carbonara ($14, happy hour price): guanciale, egg yolk, pecorino and crunchy bits of pork/lechon. This was a FAVORITE! Ended up getting two of these. It's savory with the right amount of umami. The pasta was served not as a noodle like the cacio e pepe but it didn't take away from the amazing sauce. Definitely try this! - Tagliere piccolo: fatt'a mano, prosciutto, sliced focaccia. This was essentially a small happy hour sized plate of their house made mozzarella, bread and prosciutto. It's just to taste, this will be enough for 4 people but if you really want more than one bite would probably do 1 plate per 2 people. Not sure what we were expecting from the mozzarella, but it just tasted normal. I understand that it's house made and it comes out warm and is hand pulled but it was just a standard platter. - Tuscan fried chicken ($30): anson mills polenta, cippolini onions, hot honey. The chicken was fried super well and was so crispy! The hot honey added a nice flavor to the chicken, I think next time will ask for it on the side. The polenta was creamy! We did order some cocktails. Not sure if this is standard at their business but our waiter was making our drinks so it took quite some time for us to get them since he was busy attending to other tables and getting our food. Overall, I think it's worth visiting especially for the happy hour where you can likely try 2 pasta dishes for a great price. The menu isn't overwhelming which is nice. Had a very nice meal at Bastone this evening. The food is thoughtfully prepared and the ambiance allows for nice conversation. The tables are not on top of each other. Our table spilt the mozzarella tasting and the polenta with mushrooms to start. We also ordered a focaccia. All three were sublime. The mushroom polenta has a perfectly runny egg that makes it heavenly. Our second courses, while tasty, weren't as amazing as the first course. The chicken schnitzel was a tad over fried and the green salad, while made with wonderful things like pistachios, radishes, and delicious butter lettuce, was overpowered by the amount of red onion on the plate. Further, the salad isn't cheap at $16. The service at Bastone was fine, nothing special. At nearly $65/person, with only one alcoholic beverage being ordered for the table, I'd expect that that food would be introduced to us as it was served and the preparation explained - this was not done consistently. Came back again years later to see that there's no more $10 pasta :( and that price has increased to $14 BUT I'm ok with it because I feel like portion size and quality has increased as well. They also no longer serve the Hugo spritz I loved which is a bit disappointing but they still have a decent drink menu. My suspicion is that the menu changed seasonally. This is about my fifth time dining here and unfortunately I have to give it two stars after my last review. Our server was friendly but I have to be honest and say it was very slow. The restaurant was not busy at all (only three tables the entire time We were there) and we had to wait and flag our server down multiple times for attention. The food- I have to say I was very disappointed this time round. There was nothing that I thought was delicious at dinner. The gnocchi was so soft and mushy and the sauce had a weird aftertaste unfortunately. The paglia e fieno had two different type of noodles which I thought was cool but again, mushy and soft. The noodles were not al dente AT ALL. The mafalde was a little better, but nothing special. The rib eye which was $55 was not medium like how we asked and the sauce was terrible, absolutely did not go well with the steak. It was tart and sour tasting. Maybe just not for me but none of my friends enjoyed it tbh. The branzino did not taste fresh and was not soft and buttery like how branzino usually tastes like. The focaccia was dry and disappointing lol. Drinks took a while to come out, finished the bread and still didn't receive our drinks. The only one we really enjoyed was let that mango. I will say though our server was pretty friendly and asked if we wanted our meals to be recooked but after waiting quite a while for our food (and we had to leave by 9 for other plans) we just did not want to wait for new dishes to be remade. But to me, especially at this price, I only care about the first impressions of the food and don't believe in sending food back. Overall, I might skip this spot until they have new menu items because none of the dishes did it for me yesterday. The ambiance and presentation of the dishes and restaurant are great but I want to enjoy food when I'm out. Happy hour with half of wine, charcuterie board, and pasta.... Sign me up! Our large group of nine came here for the happy hour, which is daily 4 to 6 PM (including weekends!). The Happy hour menu is pretty extensive, including some delicious appetizers, pastas, cheese,Salumi, wines & cocktails. Given the size of our group, we ordered pretty much everything on the happy hour menu x2. My favorite appetizer by far was the mushroom aricini. The meatballs are pretty good. The potatoes were under seasoned. The cheeseboard, and Salumi was simply fantastic! I have the rose wine which I loved The staff is attentive, and the pace service spot on! Wanted to go somewhere local for last minute dinner plans with the family. We were able to make reservations same day. Valet parking is available right in front of the restaurant. Host was very friendly and helpful. They provided a high chair for us as requested on our opentable reservation. Waitress Margo was pleasant and helped us choose our meal. We didn't have any of the mozzarella and salami this time. For appetizer we got the halibut tart and tiger prawns. We enjoyed the sweet and savory flavors of the halibut. It's a cold appetizer and reminds me of chicken salad. The tiger prawns looked amazing with all the garnishes, but we weren't able to eat it. The prawns tasted VERY fishy. We eat prawns often and haven't had this experience with them. The manager was great and allowed us to try the meatballs in place of the prawns. They were SO GOOD and seasoned very well. For dinner I ordered the agnolotti - a short rib pasta dish. It was pretty good but came out room temperature. Husband ordered the gnocchi - I wasn't a fan of it because the pasta wasn't firm - it was a bit soggy for my liking. His pasta was also room temp, but he said he really enjoyed it. The restaurant is located at the corner of Marietta St Artery, but parking is available at the lot across the street. I decided to go with valet ($5/6). I got a very good espresso martini. We ordered 3 appetizers to share. The meatballs were the best - I was disappointed in the brussels sprouts. I got the mafalde and it was neither good nor bad, felt quite heavy and too much going on in one pasta. I thought the guestbook during the bill process was so lovely, and even added my own note! We definitely got lucky with our meal at Bastone this time. It was a last-minute find on our trip and it turned out to be one of the more memorable meals we enjoyed in Atlanta. We arrived here on President's Day with only minutes left to place our order before the Aperitivo menu hours would end. Thanks to our friendly server, ordering a breeze as she made her recommendations quickly yet with enough details to help us decide. We ordered three mozzarellas to sample, the local Fatt a Mano, the Siano Burrata from NC, and the Lioni Truffle Burrata from NJ. All three were amazing; my favorite was easily the truffle Burrata because it was fragrant and creamy at the same time that left me wanting more after each bite. The Siano was very delicate and creamy while the Fatt a Mano had a great texture. We also sampled three salumi, the Prosciutto 36 months, the Duck Prosciutto (my favorite), and the Hot Soppressata. In addition, we ordered the Arancini and the Prawns and Polenta. Both dishes were well executed. Finally, we finished with the Carbonara and the Puttanesca. The Carbonara was creamy as expected without being too heavy, my wife loved it. I actually preferred the Puttanesca more because the sauce was more complex in taste from the anchovy. With all the food we ordered and a cocktail, the bill only came out to under $130, which already included tax and tips. I took my family, who were visiting from out of town, here for my mother's birthday, and we were expecting a great experience, as we had been eating our way through Atlanta with great success. We ordered our appetizers and drinks at the same time, but everything took forever to arrive. My girlfriend was offered a wine sample before choosing a glass, while the rest of us ordered cocktails. The cocktails came out slowly but surely, followed shortly by the wine. However, the sample ended up being a full pour because "they were slammed back there.", which we thought was strange, as this was possibly the first time staff told me the nature of their kitchen in such an exasperated manner. Appetizers arrive and the friendly manager checks up on us and we tell him we're celebrating a birthday in which he congratulates my mother. The main course finally arrives and everything looks beautiful although the two people who ordered the pasta with crab note how little crab is actually presented. I ordered the fried chicken dish, which I believe was described as boneless chicken breast, and it was very delicious. However, as I continued eating, I bit into something incredibly hard--so much so that I thought I might have chipped a tooth. I bring this to the attention to the waitress and she sarcastically said something along the lines of "yeah sometimes chicken has bones in them", not even knowing what I bit into. That's when I knew I wouldn't be coming back. But what truly confirmed to me in an already annoyed state was when the check came and I realized no birthday treatment was going to be offered in any capacity after clicking the special occasion option on Open Table and telling the waitress and manager why we were here. The meat and cheese board came out first and we devoured it promptly. The flavor in the cheese paired perfectly with the slight heat in the Salami. The potatoes came out next along with the remaining food items. I enjoyed the potatoes the most - the truffle seasoning and the sauce that was mixed in was delicious. The Mushroom Arancini was great, perfectly fried with flavorful mushrooms once I cut into them. The Meatball Bruschetta was my least favorite but probably because the other items have set the bar high. Given that it was 4pm, this food was plenty for our bellies. The class was in two sections, one making gnocchi and the other making linguine. The class was casual, informative and really fun! I came to Bastone with a friend for a weeknight dinner. I would definitely recommend making a reservation as we had to wait about 20 minutes, even on a late Wednesday night! They have $5 valet there which is nice because parking is tricky in West Midtown. I first ordered the No 3 Spritz and my friend got the Aperol Spritz, both of which were so yummy!! We also got the Taglierino (the mini charcuterie board) which was well worth and had so many things to sample! I made reservations for two and upon arrival the staff was very welcoming. I called and advised I was running 10 minutes behind and the woman on the phone updated my reservation for me, which was very sweet of her. it didn't take long for our food to arrive once we decided what we wanted to try. The potatoes were so crispy on the outside soft in the inside served with an amazing sauce. The mushroom pasta was so good. Came for happy hour after work one day w/ a friend. Parking: valet actually ran out of parking spots by the time I got there at 5. I was told there was a free lot further down the road, but I couldn't find it but there was a paid parking garage attached to an apartment building maybe a 2-3 minute walk away that was only $3 for like 2 hours so I parked there. Service: it was pretty full in there, but me and my friend had no problem sitting at the bar. The bartender was very attentive, helped us immediately and made sure our waters were topped off. What a let down :( I booked this reservation as a surprise for my boyfriend birthday, April 15th. He loves Italian and I wanted to provide him the cheese pasta wheel experience. Bright side: beautiful restaurant, great waiter (forgot her name), mock tails available, and an amazing cheeseboard with yummy bread sticks. Down side: the experience. It lasted maybe 2 minutes and there was no interaction. It was not what I expected and I was embarrassed because I felt as if it wasn't a good enough surprise for him. I am allergic to pork I noticed the people preparing the mozzarella were also handling the prosciutto without changing gloves, I mentioned this to my server and said I was happy to not get it if it was a problem. We also had to wait a long time for valet because they had lost something of the previous people's car. Finally made it to Bastone! I can't believe it took me so long, it won't be my last visit. I've passed Bastone several times and set my eyes on their marquee letter signage outside, drooled over pics shared on Yelp and told myself that I'd visit, but I kept dragging my feet! Finally, after our intended restaurant was too busy for me to function, we ended up at Bastone. Lucky us. What a gorgeous place! It reminds me of some beautiful cafes I've visited around the world, from the gorgeous bar to the terrace seating, it's truly gorgeous. We didn't experience parking or valet on this visit as we parked elsewhere seeing that this was just a stop on our night out. On a Friday night, I was so surprised that they even had spaces to sit us! But minutes after arriving, we were seated and greeted. Christina was our server for the evening and she was a gem! Because we hadn't originally planned to dine at Bastone, I didn't do my routine check of their menu 5x a day until our proposed date night lol. So we took our sweet time trying to figure out what we wanted. The menu was divine, but rightfully a bit select when it comes to pastas and substitutions are not preferred. He doesn't eat pork and I'm finicky on my cravings some days lol. Lucky for us, Christina had provided some great insight on her favorites and guest faves, and we opted for the Capunti pasta dish which included broccoli and the Paccheri for me, their bolognese specialty. As we waited, I enjoyed a wonderful glass of red wine and some fancy bourbon cocktail for the mister lol. 12min+ later, our dishes came out piping hot and ready to be enjoyed. Both dishes were beautifully plated and looked as delicious as they smelled. Immediately we both noticed that the Capunti pasta portion was quite small. Probably perfectly sized for me or someone who doesn't eat much, but for people or fellas who are looking to be filled up - order an app or entree with this pasta lol. It was truly delicious though! So, when I first tried this place it was new and I gave it a four star assuming they'd get settled and the food would be better. It was worse the next two times I went. I once went for happy hour and another for dinner. The pasta is just really basic and they have all this fancy stuff in the description but it really is basic and I got three different pastas the last time I went just to be sure. I've had a total of 6 pasta from here. Two were good: A squid ink pasta and goat meat pasta. Please put them on the menu and keep them there. The appetizers and meats are ok, but the pasta is just alright. Also their valet consistently pose a safety concern to the neighborhood and community with parking cars DIRECTLY on the sidewalks where people need to pass. read more

One of the best spots for brunch! Bastone is one of the Porchetta Group's restaurants - the same restaurant family that owns White Bull, Grana, and Alici Oyster Bar. Mozzarella is Bastone's main focus, but their pastas and entrees are absolutely incredible. If you're not getting the chef's mozzarella tasting, then I'd recommend at least trying their housemate Fatt a Mano cheese. The duck prosciutto is also excellent, fatty and rich without being overpowering. The focaccia pairs well with both their cheese and prosciutto, but is a little small. One order is big enough to split between two people if you're also ordering other food. You can't go wrong with any of their rotating pastas. I stopped by Bastone for their Aperitivo Hour. They have valet parking in the front. It's best to have a reservation, because they do get busy. There are options to dine inside or outside on their covered patio. Their happy hour is 7 days a week from 4-6p! They offer $10 pastas, and $7 small bites. read more
