Taryn was an awesome server. The decor at this location is beautiful but we just didn't like the food. In our opinion it's not authentic, tortillas were tough, and the grilled shrimp tacos could have been better if they had some salsa or something. Free street parking and parking garage available less than a block away.

We had put in our name at another spot near Barrio for dinner, but headed over to grab a drink at Barrio while we waited! We had a large group, around ten, so I feel like that is important context. 50th and France parking is always an adventure, but I'd recommend just committing to the nearby parking garage instead of circling and hoping for street parking. Barrio has a lot of space and is great for small and large groups! The space is minimalist but gives you the feeling of elevated Mexican to match the menu. Our group was sat at a large table in the back. Service was very overwhelmed during our stay, which created missed orders and slow arrival. At one point, we simply went to the bar to get drinks because it had been 20-30 minutes since we placed our order. The food and drinks themselves were great! They had my favorite Mexican beer, Victoria, and it was priced well! The queso comes with tortillas, which was an interesting choice, as you have to pay extra for chips. Overall, there are many better places in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't avoid this spot if you were in the mood for Mexican or if someone invited you there!

Live right up the road but hadn't been until stopping by for happy hour. The space itself is a classy, "business casual" vibe. Not that it stopped me from rolling in wearing jeans and a hoodie. It was pretty quiet and the staff was really friendly. Seems like it's much more of a late-night and lunch spot. The happy hour menu is pretty good with a huge serving of excellent guac and chips. It's the good, chunky kind of guac that lets you know you're eating avocado instead of some avocado-flavored mush. Well seasoned and comes with really good chips that hold up to the weight. They have a bunch of tacos as well and the vegetarian option was really good. Lots of filling, fresh tortilla, and I was stuffed afterwards. Didn't get a drink but they have some good specials on those as well. I'll definitely be back at some point!

Lovely as one would expect at 50th & France in Edina, though for suburban Latin food - it's all tacos, burritos and tequila, effectively - maybe a bit too much white-tablecloth ambiance for my taste. I did enjoy the hell out of the shishito peppers, crisp and hot. I would caution maybe 2 of 10 were truly spicy-hot, but my first mistake was in not ordering a cold Modelo, a perfect pairing with the peppers. My entree (see photo) was a chicken plate, good but I could do without chihuahua cheese melted on the chicken. Loved the black beans and rice. Our service was adequate, but he lost a star for not delivering a martini. My second mistake was ordering a Hendricks martini, up with a twist, and it never found me. The waiter clearly didn't know what that drink was. I mean, it's gin and vermouth, not some cutesy concoction with egg whites and dry ice. Eventually, the server apologized as it turned out they were out of that gin, or perhaps all gin, I don't know. Like a valet that can't drive a stick, servers of cocktails should know the standard drinks like martinis or why are you waiting tables? I declined a substitute for fear of what I'd receive. Otherwise, Barrio was just fine, and maybe a little better if one doesn't arrive thirsty.

We went to Barrio for a bday party so we had a bit of a larger group (8 ppl). They were able to accommodate all of us and got all of our orders in before happy hour ended! The server was also super friendly and recommended some drinks to us. The portion sizes were pretty small, but they were tasty! I would recommend any of the tacos, but probably multiple of them if you are hungry. It is a smaller restaurant and there were a lot of people eating at the same time we were so it was a bit chaotic at times to try to find our server. The walk to the bathroom was also confusing and had to squeeze around groups of ppl. Felt like a crowded bar at times! I still would go back, but probably during a less crowded time!

The wait staff was top notch, very attentive for our table of 6. They were always around but not hovering which was nice because we went through a lot of salsa. The salsa and guacamole were delicious as were the house made chips. The rest of the food for all 6 of us was was just fair. We had burritos, tacos, beet salad, chicken plate and a Cubano sandwich and it was all average. I would comeback for drinks and maybe just an appetizer but if I have a real hankering for delicious Mexican food this would not be my first choice.

Went during the Edina art fair and it was fantastic. Food was delicious and servers were kind. Great patio area and the windows are opened inside.

Tony was our server. He was great. Dining w my date who as a few of you know is vegetarian. Barrios did a great job accommodating with a great appetizer, slightly different guacamole. She got a burrito but way better than most and I make these myself so I was pleased too. I got a quinoa bowl and it was done tasty.

Not to mention, the host was quick to say "congrats" (I had let them know of the occasion ahead of time). As well, they were happy to reserve an ideal seat of choice for us with advanced notice. Overall, such a great dinner and great service, which is what I was hoping for for this once-in-a-lifetime milestone celebration. Pajarito delivered. Thanks!

I'm fancy, so I wanted something a bit more upscale. I did a little bit of research and wouldn't you know it... Colita came up. So here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set south of downtown and a bit west of The Mall of America on Penn Avenue is this gem. There is no private parking lot, but plenty of street parking to leave your fly ride. But once you walk up to the restaurant you can immediately understand the message they're trying to send. Everything looks so modern, straightforward with straight lines, grey colors and light woods. There is a small outdoor section where you can dine if you get lucky enough to land a spot there. Inside carries a very similar style with a little nod to the pueblos and architecture of the southwest. The decor is minimalistic and the "loudest" thing in the room is the live plant wall seated directly behind the bar, which was super cool. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but we had no issues whatsoever. Food/Drink: I was able to try so many different dishes and drinks here and the list is below... : Xochitl In Love : La Clandestina : Tuna Tostada : Chicken Tinga Tostada : Seared Scallops : Tlayuda : Colita Old Fashioned : Lamb Barbacoa Tacos : Duck Tamal However, my favorite things were the Lamb Barbacoa Tacos, Duck Tamal and Seared Scallops, in that order. The food here is phenomenal, the drinks are excellently crafted and things are served tapas style so you don't get too full off of just one thing! Order a whole bunch of stuff and share with the table! Value: As I mentioned earlier, I wanted upscale and the priced dddooo reflect that. Lol. This is a nice place so be prepared to spend... Like you're downtown somewhere. In conclusion, I loved this place and I will come back over and over. Check this place out the next time you're in the area!

But once the order was in, everything turned around fast. The service was smooth, friendly, and the food came out quicker than I expected. And that shrimp burrito? Unreal. The tortilla was warm and perfectly toasted, the sauce had that rich, savory kick that makes you pause mid‑bite, and the shrimp... there were so many I genuinely lost count. Owned and operated by three brothers, this family-owned restaurant serves incredible Ecuadorian and Mexican-inspired dishes. If you visit, you'll most likely be greeted and served by one of the owners, who treat you like family--wholesome and genuinely high-quality hospitality without doing too much. The service provided and the love poured into the food are comparable to none. I've frequented this restaurant several times, throughout several years, and I've never had a bad experience or a bad meal. Some of my favorite dishes here include: - Empanadas de Carne or Vegetariana: Beef or vegetable empanadas. These empanadas are pan-fried corn dough, stuffed with your choice of tender, juicy, perfectly cooked braised beef or fresh vegetables. The empanadas are served on a bed of roasted tomato salsa and crema casera. The crispiness and warmth of the empanadas, combined with the tanginess of the sauces, make this dish my absolute favorite. If you're undecided in the appetizer section, this would be the one thing I would absolutely make sure you order. - The guacamole is made with fresh avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, roasted tomato, salsa, and served with crispy corn chips. It is one of their top-selling items as it is made fresh to order, and absolutely delicious as such. - The shrimp ceviche is another favorite! Made with a blend of tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and citrus juice, this ceviche is both juicy and packed with tons of flavor. It's the perfect light and refreshing appetizer. - The Tostones and fried yucca, each crispy and crunchy, are also excellent options for sharing or nibbling solo before your main dish. - The Carne Asada is one of my go-to lunches when I visit. Overnight, marinated steak is grilled to perfection and served with achiote (yellow, seasoned) rice, black bean purée, French fries, and a small house salad. It's good comfort food cooked with love and an incredible amount of - The Lomo saltado dish is sautéed beef tips that are very tender, rich, and flavorful. The combination with the red onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes is sensational. Paired with an achiote (yellow, seasoned) rice that waters your mouth, as well as a side house salad served with a tangy lime vinaigrette that will blow you away. - The Mexican Tres leches is my absolute favorite version! I've tried several, not all, across the Twin Cities, and this is always easily my favorite. A homemade cake soaked with a blend of three milks, whipped cream, caramel chocolate, and topped with crispy coconut flakes. This dessert is decadent as it is delicious. In addition to these dishes, Cahill Bistro offers happy hour Sunday-Thursday from 3:00-5:30pm with specials on appetizers and drinks. They also have daily soup specials and brunch on Saturdays.
